when the big death hit,

was a test subject

for the vaccine.

The tumors that it gave him

I traced it

I got the impression

where people couldn't touch

if the disease had mutated
and became airborne.

Eventually, they got what they

some of the test subjects

who got the vaccine against
the big death developed
a form of the virus.

they sent teams of burners

to cover their asses.

Now, the new mutation
is slower than the old one,

but it's more deadly,
and the old vaccine
doesn't work against it.

They're trying to track down
all the test subjects,

get there in time,
