(Flourished Peony)

(Episode 24)

The order for Lady Mingfu's birthday banquet

was usually accepted by the Flower Association.

Do you know

why they let you take advantage of this order this time?

It's because Old Lady Tang is picky

and the fourth son of the Tang family is a scoundrel.

None of the Flower Association's shopowners dare accept this order.

Meanwhile, Blooming Abode is not a part of the Flower Association.

Even if you mess up this order,

they will not be affected.

To them,

you are just the perfect scapegoat.

You and Lv Wan Rong worked together to set me up!

I am just a servant now.

I'm not capable enough

to get Leader Lv to work with me.

He is just like you.

He knows nothing about this since the beginning.

You purposely let me hear news about the birthday banquet

and lured me to the Flower Association.

You used everyone just to back me into a corner!

You are so evil!

No one forced you to take this order.

You are in this situation

because of your greed.

It's dusk!

The curfew will begin soon.

You should cherish your final few hours.

Shopowner He!

Shopowner He, forget about my wrongdoings

and help me overcome this.

Shopowner He!

Shopowner He.

Shopowner He!

The birthday banquet begins at noon!

If we don't go out now,

the flowers can no longer be saved.

Shopowner, be lenient and spare me.

I beg you.

Are you begging me now?

I can help you

but you must promise me three conditions.

Otherwise, you can forget about it.

Sure. Tell me.

One.

Return Blooming Abode immediately.

All the profits from the birthday banquet will go to me.

Of course,

I can also wait until you die after messing this up.

All right! I agree!

Two.

Kowtow to Sheng Yi and apologize to her.

Mu Dan.

She is unlucky.

I don't know

if she can take it if I kowtow to her.

When you beat her up in the past,

did you ask her if she could take it?

You deserve

this humiliation.

Who are you trying to fool?

I'm telling you, Wang Qing.

I want you to pay Sheng Yi back

for her injuries and the blood in her mouth.

You better figure out

how you are going to apologize to her.

You don't have much time left.

Kowtow to her!

Mu Dan, there's no need to do all this for me.

I'm asking you to kowtow to her!

Dear, I was wrong.

Please forgive me.

Dear, I was wrong.

Please forgive me.

Dear, I was wrong.

Please forgive me.

Dear, I was wrong.

Please forgive me.

That's enough.

Don't cry.

Since Sheng Yi

is willing to reconcile with you,

I hope

you can behave from now on

and treat her well.

If you dare disrespect, bully,

or even hurt her a little,

I will make you suffer ten times and a hundred times more than today.

Do you understand?

Yes.

I won't do it again.

What is your third condition, Shopowner?

How are these flowers?

Can they still be used?

They can still be saved.

We don't need to buy new flowers from growers.

Wang Qing went away for so long

but he only found you?

Where is he?

Wang Qing was useless and asked Mu Dan to save the flowers.

She is the previous owner of Blooming Abode.

She can grow any kind of flowers.

I see, it's Miss He.

You are no longer the shopowner of Blooming Abode.

There's no need to force yourself.

My fourth master is close to Lord Jiang.

If the birthday banquet is ruined

because of you, I'm afraid...

Blooming Abode is under my name now.

I'm as concerned as you about whether Old Lady Tang's birthday banquet

can be filled with flowers.

Time is of the essence. I hope you trust me

and do as I say.

These flowers are wilted due to lack of water.

They need to be soaked in water that doesn't cover the stems

so the flowers can have enough water.

Da Fu, go and see

if there's any water left overnight.

Otherwise, bring me a lot of water from deep water wells.

Madam, please boil more water.

I'll go do it now.

The water must be clean.

I'm in a unique situation now.

I can only trouble you

to send someone back to the Tang Residence before the curfew

to get some good charcoal.

All right. I'll send someone immediately.

Hurry.

Yes.

It's hot in the summer.

When these flowers

are moved to the garden outside the city,

please place some ice around the banquet hall.

All right.

What is this?

This is my secret ingredient. It helps improve the stems' water absorption.

Don't worry. These flowers

will be as fresh as they used to be tomorrow.

Da Fu.

Burn this.

Do you see this?

Look at the change.

This stem is still good.

Good.

Madam.

Butler Tang.

Butler Tang.

Miss He.

Take a look.

This...

This is great.

It's great.

The vases Wang Qing chose were bad

I'm also not talented

when it comes to flower arrangement.

- That's... - Don't worry.

Before I came here,

I informed a florist who is good at flower arrangement.

I will tell him every stalk of flower here.

He will choose suitable vases

based on the flowers.

We will never miss the auspicious hour.

That's good.

That's good.

Don't worry.

Da Fu, I will ask someone to get the vases when the gates are opened.

I'll leave Wang Qing to you.

Don't worry. I will keep a close eye on him

and punish him for your sake.

I, the evil merchant, Wang Qing,

framed my wife

and plundered other people's property.

I am dishonest and deserve my punishment.

The Blooming Abode will be returned to its rightful owner today.

Everything is true.

I, the evil merchant, Wang Qing,

framed my wife

and plundered other people's property.

I am dishonest and deserve my punishment.

The Blooming Abode will be returned to its rightful owner today.

Everything is true.

Shopowner He, you are talented.

That's too much praise.

Be quick.

Yes.

- He has been paraded the whole day. - What an evil man.

He deserves it.

I, the evil merchant, Wang Qing,

- plundered other people's property. - Louder!

I, the evil merchant, Wang Qing,

plundered other people's property.

I am dishonest and deserve my punishment.

The Blooming Abode will be returned to its rightful owner today.

Everything is true.

Sheng Yi!

You're back.

I saw you

waiting for me at the door just now.

I thought you were going to come back.

I'll only feel relief

when I see you return triumphantly.

Right now,

I no longer have anything to worry about.

Farewell.

I don't get it.

You knew Wang Qing was a despicable scoundrel.

Why are you still not willing to leave him?

What can I do after I leave him?

I don't want the same as you.

I'm the same as most women.

I want a husband

and children.

However, I can no longer give birth.

You've never told me about this.

There are some things

that you can only understand after experiencing it.

You are not the only woman who can't give birth in this world.

After you leave him,

there's still a chance of meeting a good person.

Even if I meet someone else,

can you guarantee that I won't be looked down on?

You shouldn't care about how others see you.

You just need to cherish yourself.

This is the biggest difference between you and me.

You cherish yourself

but I

hate

myself a lot.

Sheng Yi.

You...

I am lowly and weak

so I've never had a choice.

I hate myself for being born into a family like that.

I hate myself

for marrying an animal without resisting.

I hate myself

for becoming Qin Wu'er

when I return home.

I hate myself even more

for destroying the sincerity you showed me

when I had it.

But the thing I hate most...

The thing I hate most

is being a woman.

Why are women

hated by the world

as soon as they are abandoned by their husbands?

Sorry.

I should've realized

how badly you were tortured by the principles and ethical norms.

I see you as my good friend

but at this moment,

it feels like I've never understood you.

You didn't let me down.

I'm the one who let you down.

I've hated myself for too many years

and can't change.

There's nothing wrong with being a woman.

The ones at fault are those who hurt you and belittled you.

If there are evil people like Wang Qing in this world,

there will also be good people who you can rely on.

Even if there's none,

we can still work hard and live an honest life

as women.

You still have me,

Chun, and Da Fu.

We will accompany you.

Let's start all over again.

After saying so much,

you've still decided to leave, right?

All right.

In that case,

I must give you the money you made

as the second shopowner of Blooming Abode.

Use it to support yourself.

Mu Dan!

You've done a lot for me.

Don't mention it.

I know about all your contributions

to Blooming Abode's current success.

Keep this money.

Don't let Wang Qing find out about it.

There's one more thing.

I wanted to keep it

and give it to you in the future when I get a chance.

In that case,

I'll get it for you as well.

Sheng Yi.

Wait for me.

Sheng Yi.

Sheng Yi.

Sheng Yi.

This is

a good name.

Thank you, everyone.

Blooming Abode

might have gained fame at Tang Residence's birthday banquet this time

but we seldom do business with nobles.

The common people are our regular customers.

In the future,

we will still be selling stalks of flowers

and boxes of fragrance powder.

Do not think about taking advantage by using dishonest methods.

Yes.

The jasmine, gardenia, and baby rose we improved previously

have long blooming periods and healthy flowers.

They can be used for affordable bonsais.

As for expensive flowers

like orchids, roses,

and lotuses,

buyers should be informed about the flowers' short blooming periods

and difficulty in taking care before selling.

They are expensive because they are rare.

Only Blooming Abode can grow them.

If the customers have any doubts,

we cannot lie to them

just to sell the flowers. Understand?

Yes.

Those who are willing to pay for these flowers

want something unique.

Most of them don't care about the blooming period.

You are right.

Mu Dan,

I used our summer flowers to make some new fragrance powders.

Come and try them out later.

Sure. We can

give them some good names later.

Madam, I think we can change the flowers

used in the fragrance pouches.

What do you think?

I'll listen to you.

Tomorrow, I'll visit both of you

to see the newly grown Thousand-petal Lotus.

This flower attracts bugs more easily compared to other lotuses.

When I'm not around,

I hope both of you take good care of it.

We will patrol the area at night

and won't let such a precious flower be infested by insects.

Thank you.

Previously,

I got into trouble suddenly

and haven't paid all your salary.

But all of you didn't mind

and are still willing to do business with me.

I'm very grateful.

I hope all of you

can work with me in the future.

When I open a new shop,

I will increase all of your salary

by 20%. All right?

All right!

Thank you, Shopowner!

Shopowner, you are righteous and trustworthy.

We can live a good life if we work for you.

Naturally, we will put in a lot of effort.

Rest assured.

Thank you, everyone.

Use more strength. Grind them finely.

All right.

Pat it.

Push it through the strainer gently.

Mother,

soon,

I will surely take back Fang Garden.

Just wait and see.

Every time Lord Liu comes to walk the horses,

you will visit him in this wilderness

but he won't say anything.

Your Highness, you have a noble status. Why do you have to suffer?

Zi Shu is proud

and is demoted to the Imperial Stable.

Father forced him to face the truth.

He only did this because he was angry.

I don't blame him.

However, Zi Shu will one day understand

that this isn't the place he should be at.

As long as he regrets his actions,

I hope he can see immediately

that I'm waiting for him.

Your Highness!

Be careful. Your Highness, are you hurt?

This is a beast trap.

Maybe it was dug by hunters in the mountains.

Your Highness, let me give you a boost.

Be careful, Your Highness!

Be careful.

This is such a deep pit.

What kind of fierce beasts are they trying to catch?

- This mountain... - We left the residence in secret without any guards.

We can't climb out of this pit with just the two of us.

What should we do if beasts appear, Your Highness?

Why are you panicking?

This place is close to the mountain villages.

If we shout loudly, someone will come.

- Start shouting. - Yes.

Is someone there?

Someone!

Princess Ji'an is here!

Come and save her immediately!

Someone!

Anyone?

Louder. Keep shouting.

Someone! Help!

Princess Ji'an is here!

Come and save her!

Someone! Is anyone out there?

Princess Ji'an is in danger!

Come and save her immediately!

Someone!

Anyone?

Someone! Help!

Help!

Princess Ji'an is in danger!

Come and save her!

Someone!

Princess, what should we do?

It's getting dark.

- If we keep... - What's the use of crying?

If you don't want to die here, keep shouting and shout loudly. Hurry!

Help!

Someone!

Princess Ji'an is in danger!

Come and save her immediately!

Help!

Someone!

The princess is in danger!

Help!

Bi Yu, someone's here.

Help me get up.

- Your Highness. Be careful. Take it slow. - Quick.

Slowly, Your Highness.

The princess is here!

The princess is here!

No.

These are not humans.

These are...

Wolves.

- Bi Yu. - Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Will we die here?

She should experience

the fear of being surrounded by animals

when her fate is uncertain.

We've finally gotten revenge.

Wild wolves won't dare jump down easily.

We are only scaring them.

This is not even close to what you suffered at the army camp.

In my opinion,

we should put her in a sack and beat him up.

If you beat up other people, your hand will hurt too.

Besides,

Da Fu's fists are very precious.

There's no need to waste it on someone like her.

- Princess! - Princess!

Princess!

Princess!

Princess!

Princess!

The princess has a noble status.

It only takes one message

for everyone in the residence to search for her.

However, the mute woman

had no name.

She was wronged and died in the camp.

Besides me,

who else will remember her?

Princess!

Princess!

Princess!

- Princess! - Princess!

Get the kite.

Yes.

Two days ago, Liu Shen did not attend

the eastern capital governor's birthday

but he sent two boxes of gifts.

The value of the gifts exceeds a year's worth of his salary.

When he welcomed us in Luoyang,

he was still using his daughter-in-law's dowry.

He hasn't been in Chang'an for a long time

and he is already so rich.

He's a greedy rat indeed.

Liu Chang was demoted

but his father's position as the Grand Treasurer is still safe.

It must be King Ning who approved it.

Investigate clearly how Liu Shen got so much money.

Whether we can topple the Chen family or not

- depends on whether the Liu family can protect its secret. - Yes.

- Miss He, you are here. - Is Lord Jiang around?

Young Master had given me orders.

He is now...

Lord Jiang, this is...

I prepared a new slingshot for the children.

Try it and see if it works.

You grow flowers usually

so your hand is strong

but you lack accuracy.

Do you have a bad vision?

I can see

how extraordinary you are among thousands of people.

Do you think I have a bad vision?

However, I haven't tried using this before.

If I practice,

I might not be that inaccurate.

In that case,

let's practice today.

Zhao Cai!

Young Master, spare me!

Lord Jiang, you are not usually a master

who tortures your servants.

What's wrong with you today?

How is this torture

when my aim is bad?

You know what you are doing

so you won't hurt him

but he doesn't know that

so he will feel scared.

Since you can't bear to see that,

forget it.

Lord Jiang,

it hasn't been long since I've taken back Blooming Abode.

There's not much profit this month.

Please forgive me.

Don't worry. I won't disappoint you

next month.

I've included the money for buying things from my hometown previously.

Also...

Also...

- I want to get back my indenture. - I want to speak with Mu Dan.

You can fly the kite.

Fly it higher.

If you can get Mu Dan to smile,

I'll reward you.

Yes.

What are you doing?

Go down there.

Yes.

Are you having a grudge against this servant?

Take a guess.

Chuan Yu.

Lord Jiang.

I've included the money you used to buy me

inside this box.

I'll leave it here then.

Lord Jiang.

When you are free,

can you go to the magistrate

to help me

change my status?

I know. There's a price to help me change my status.

Name your price.

I will pay you next time.

You said we were friends previously.

Why are you acting like a stranger today?

It's not my first time doing that document.

Do you think I need your money?

Yes.

Even siblings must settle their accounts.

The friendship

can only be long-lasting if we repay our favors.

Moreover, changing my status is a huge favor.

I don't know how I can repay you

so I can only give you money.

The Princess and the Liu family

will surely know that you've left the army camp.

Do you want to change your status

or your life?

They dare not hurt you with me around.

You should keep a low profile and make money first.

When the time comes,

I will return you your indenture.

Thank you for your protection then,

Lord Jiang.

Take care.

How do I reserve your orchids?

- The baby roses are pretty. - I want three pots of jasmine.

- Please come with me. - Please keep this.

- All right. - I like this too.

Da Fu is healthy.

This infection isn't caused by the heat in her body

but by coming in contact with molded millet all day long.

That is why her hands are swollen and itchy.

The millet is small in size.

Those with mold cannot be separated

if they are mixed into the batch.

Moreover,

once the millet is washed,

any traces of mold will be cleaned up.

Thankfully, you realized it, Madam.

Otherwise, we'll still be kept in the dark.

What do we do with these powders

and the fragrant powder outside?

Thankfully, the fragrant powder isn't used much every day.

We need to quickly recall all the fragrant powder we sold previously.

Mu Dan, recalling them is a correct decision.

After this incident,

will people stop visiting Blooming Abode?

We will give them a refund

and explain it to them nicely.

There's no choice

if they don't forgive us.

After doing everything we can,

we just need to be free of guilt.

Let me collect all the fragrance powder outside.

Thank you, Madam.

Which heartless person is causing us trouble now?

I've had a feeling

that this isn't as simple as it seems.

Chun, you said

there have been many patients suffering from stomachaches.

Yes.

I asked every one of them what they ate

but there was nothing unusual.

Now that I think about it,

millet is the people's staple food.

Since it's something they usually eat, they will think nothing is wrong

and won't purposely tell me about it.

Is this the reason why I haven't been able to find the cause?

Let me go with you to confirm it.

Let's see if they are eating millet from the same shop.

Da Fu, stop scratching.

It's itchy.

Wheat cakes!

Make way!

Make way!

- Make way! - Lamb liver cake!

The rice and millet shops in the Western Market

have molded millet mixed in them.

The people's health will be affected

if they eat molded millet all the time.

I wonder who is responsible for this.

How is it?

The Eastern market's millet is fine.

The Eastern market's millet is fine.

The Eastern market is usually visited by nobles.

The Western market is a market for commoners like us.

I didn't expect them

to be so greedy.

Who are they?

Do it quickly.

Yes, Lord Liu.

Take care, Lord Liu.

I hired someone from the black market to follow Liu Shen.

Liu Shen has been close with the official who manages

the Eastern and Western markets.

The official has been in position for many years

and has never made any mistakes

so I didn't pay attention previously.

Until we found the molded millet,

I sent them to investigate it again.

As I suspected,

since Liu Shen became this person's superior,

more and more

low-quality goods

have been appearing in the Western market apart from rice and millet.

The tools bought by the Flower Association broke in less than half a month.

Father thought the one who purchased the tools

bought some bad ones to make some small gains.

It's all thanks to you for reminding me.

The leader has found out about this now.

What does he plan to do?

Is he going to report it to the officials?

The evildoer is a powerful official.

Father is helpless.

He said a merchant shouldn't go against officials.

The leader can't help it because he has a reputation to protect.

It's understandable.

But I...

This is too dangerous. Don't do something foolish.

Back then, the same thing happened.

The Liu family used a fake medicine to replace the real thing

and caused me to miss the best time to save my mother.

Right now, not only did he restrain from his behavior

but it has become worse instead.

He doesn't care about the people's livelihood and well-being.

As long as a greedy official like him is in charge,

all of us

will have to worry every day.

I won't forgive

Liu Shen.

I practice medicine.

I can't bear to see people eating molded millet

and getting weak.

Mu Dan,

I'm willing to do this foolish thing with you.

Don't worry.

I won't bite off more than I can chew.

I will tell you when I need your help.

Young Master, King Ning is greedy.

It seems like he is not content with only two governors,

Shuo Fang and Fan Yang working with him.

He still wants to rope in more governors.

King Ning's ambition

requires a lot of smoothing over

so he is spending a lot of money.

Young Master, will we alert King Ning

if we take action against King Ning's money tree by using Liu Shen?

If we investigate thoroughly going down from the top,

King Ning will surely get suspicious.

However, if we investigate Liu Shen's crime by using the millet case,

we can investigate from the bottom

and find out his involvement with the Chen family.

Liu Chang's marriage with the princess has been canceled.

King Ning can easily clear his relationship

if we investigate the Liu family.

We are hiding in the shadows.

As long as we praise King Ning,

he won't suspect that we are actually coming for him

when we deal with a corrupt official.

Young Master, you are getting better

at adapting your words to the people you speak to.

I'm impressed.

You are only enjoying it yourself

without feeding me.

Young Master, here you go.

Young Master.

Why are you here at this time?

Someone else has their eyes on our prey.

Which fool is it?

Jiang Xiao...

Miss He.

It seems like

she is also aiming for this big fish just like us.

The water

will not be calm for long.

I've been busy at the shop recently so I'm exhausted.

I didn't prepare supper.

Please forgive me, Lord Jiang.

How do you know it's me

and not Zhu Fu?
