[Love Designer]

[Episode 9]

Boss, Zhou Fang is here.

This is some of the new clothing designs that I made.

We already started the pre-sale online.

And this is the presentation for our brand and plans for the future.

Do you know what you're lacking?

I don't know.

Chen Chen,

bring her to the East 2nd warehouse.

Hurry!

Okay.

President Zhou, this way, please.

President Song, ever since the plagiarism incident,

our factory is more secured.

President Song has never let an outsider come in here before.

My boss frequently says that success depends on the small details.

No matter what the price of the clothing is,

in terms of quality, we always strive for perfection.

This clothing is really good. The texture is good.

The stitching on the pocket is good, too.

This style of clothing is considered normal in this season's apparel.

I'll show you more over there.

You've given a lot of thought. No wonder you had me go to your warehouse.

How was it?

It was quite rewarding.

I even took a little blow.

Then that's good. Tell me!

The difference was more than what I imagined.

No wonder you always look down on me, saying that I'm working behind closed doors.

But if I want to improve, I need to observe more and learn more.

I need to make some changes to my own brand,

in order to make the gap closer between exceptional fashion designers.

The brand that I showed you today was

a very young local brand under the company.

Their fashion designer will also participate in the competition.

Do you know the difference?

But I know what to expect now.

You know what to expect?

If I didn't know the competitor, I wouldn't know what to expect.

But now, at least I have a goal in mind.

Let's put designing to the side for now.

When I was at your warehouse, I saw a garment.

It should be the most ordinary one out of all your new products this season.

But even if it's just an ordinary garment,

it's lining, and it's needlework where its pockets connect

are all sewn together very intricately.

Compared to my clothing,

my skills are too poor.

The skills have to be up to par in order for the work to be done intricately.

Like your kind, those who are eager for results,

only thinking of making their brand known on the market,

is useless. I've seen your work.

They're all lifeless, with no sophistication.

I hope that you can concentrate and do well in designing,

and put your attitude and skills into your works.

Understand?

- Too much? - No, not too much.

Are you still going to participate in the contest?

Of course!

Join with what? This?

Go home and dream of joining.

Okay, I'll consider President Song's suggestion.

Then, I'll be leaving.

The skills have to be up to par in order for the work to be done intricately.

Like your kind, those who are eager for results,

only thinking of making their brand known on the market

is useless. I've seen your work.

They're all lifeless, with no sophistication.

I hope that you can concentrate and do well in designing,

and put your attitude and skills into your works.

- Why are you here again? - Yes.

- And with a new car. Not bad! - It's the company‘s.

Oh yeah. I head from Qin Qing that you joined a contest.

It's exhausting, right? Before your car is ready from maintenance,

I'll be your driver.

I did join a contest but I've only signed up, I don't know if I'll get picked yet.

No problem! As long as you've tried.

- Let's go. - Okay, let's go.

Please!

Let me copy it when you're done writing.

You don't understand it yourself?

Of course, I don't understand it.

Okay, then.

Look at his pitiful manner!

What a fickle man?

What? What did you say?

Look! Shen Di, is using that word here correct?

Yes, yes.

Is it right? You're holding a math book. How is it, right?

Right, my auntie is probably home at this time.

Is it? Then, I'll take a look.

Not doing your homework properly.

I'm going down for a stroll.

Already back?

This quick?

- Who-Who is this man? - What man?

- That one! Do you know him? - I don't.

She's dating and she didn't even tell me.

What dating? He's not even her boyfriend.

- How do you know? - Why wouldn't I know?

Xiao Di, your auntie is back. You should go home, too.

- Okay, then I'll be leaving. - Bye-bye.

- Bye-bye. - Leave your book here!

Will do.

Go do your homework. What are you looking at?

Wait a moment!

Didn't you want to go for a stroll?

What time is it? Stroll what?

That's right!

She already went home. No one will be there to meet you coincidentally.

You...

I'm not done writing my homework yet.

Qin Qing? Qin Qing!

Qin Qing.

I'm wrong. Can you not leave?

- Don't follow me! - I really know I'm wrong.

Where are you wrong?

I'm wrong everywhere. Whatever you don't like is wrong.

Since you don't know where you're wrong, then never mind.

Tell me where I'm wrong, Qin Qing!

I—

Will you leave or not?

If you don't love me anymore, then drive over me.

We really aren't compatible.

Where aren't we compatible?

Qin Qing.

This piece is the last one we're going to show.

If you guys like it, you can order immediately.

Thank you all for your love and support.

We'll see you again tomorrow at 10:00. Goodbye!

Xiao Kai, come over here!

You are back, Sister Fang?

Go ahead and stop the production of all the clothes.

- Stop all of them? - All of them!

How much money will we lose?

It's not that many clothes anyway...

I'll discuss it with the factory people.

Song Lin is right. There's no quality if there's no detail.

I was in a hurry and led everyone in the wrong direction.

- Get going! - Got it!

Hold on! Give me a few pieces you showed on the live stream today.

Sister Fang, why do you need these?

I'm going to alter them. You can go.

♫ The maple leaves outside the window are gradually falling down ♫

♫ Remember that love has arrived before ♫

Sister Fang! Sister Fang, quick!

- What are you doing? What's the problem? - Taking your clothes off will get us banned.

- What do you mean by banned? - The broadcast isn't shut off.

President Song has put his heart into creating this great project.

He also provided a lot of constructive feedback.

The main sponsor is definitely going to be you.

However, in order to ensure diversity in the show,

after some discussion, the station finally decided

to also let Baisai Group join.

Since you already decided, then we are also fine with it.

Xiao Zuo, explain to everyone about the show.

Regarding the competition, we have finished selecting people for the first round. There are less than ten contestants.

There are three days left for people to register.

Since almost everyone is here,

I think we can all discuss

how we can make our show more interesting.

Since we are discussing it, I just saw a video that was pretty interesting.

What video? Why don't we all take a look.

Weird things become normal after seeing it.

Young people these days will do just about anything to become famous.

Xiao Zuo, watch out for people like this.

We don't want weird people to drag the standard of the show down.

Changing the design in five minutes, if we don't consider the quality of the work,

but just look at the design alone, being able to create something from scratch,

it is very interesting.

President Song, what do you think?

We'll see each other a lot from now on.

Please look out for me.

We've known each other for a long time, do you recall how long?

- 7-8 years. - Such a long time.

You have been taking extra care of me these past few days.

Every time you cause me trouble, I always learn from it.

I wonder what I will learn this time.

- President Song, you really know how to joke. - It takes one to know one.

After all these years, this is the first time we are working together on something. Right?

I look forward to our partnership.

I'm looking forward to it.

What's this?

I heard Yuan Yiwei is joining the show.

News spreads quickly.

That flash drive contains all the information on him, including the negative ones.

I worked really hard to get them.

And?

This will benefit both of us.

I'm sure you don't need my permission to expose her.

Of course not! I just wanted to let you know

that I respect your opinion.

What's the point of these lowly publicity stunts with stalking and sneak shots?

For many people, these lowly publicity stunts that you spoke of are the path to the rise up in their career.

You should probably know about the search volume of your show now, right?

The popularity remains only if we let this matter keep up.

Only then would people pay attention to all your efforts that were spent on this show.

It's clear what's at stake here, you should know that.

The so-called promotion strategy of yours will only steal the thunder in the end.

It will digress from my original intent of creating this show.

Without popularity, not using up other people's time and resources, it will be meaningless.

I hope that you could lose your pride and look at the feedback from the public.

You will see that my strategy is an effective one.

If it is so effective then go to the broadcasting studio and ask for an award.

But I don't want to use such as underhanded method

- and lose myself. - Underhanded?

President Song, there are only two types of relationships between people;

one is love and the other one is money.

I wish we were the first type.

But don't let your pride stop you from meeting your goals.

In my eyes, you are a businessman with principles.

You are right, I am a businessman with principles.

So, can you please stop doing everything that you have been doing?

I will use my skills to get the type of audience that I want.

Fine! I promise that once the show is over, I will announce the truth regarding our relationship.

That way the show will be popular and your reputation will stay intact.

You're pretty smart but it makes me uncomfortable.

I'm smart... Isn't it so I can be worthy of you?

If you need it, come find me.

You will need it.

Zhou Fang is back.

Why is he going up this time?

I think you should go home now.

If I go home now... wouldn't it be inconvenient?

Then, what will happen to Song Lin?

Song Lin... it's his problems... he can take care of it himself.

He can't! His brain doesn't work.

Then... I go home now?

Go! Go, go, go. Quickly.

- Auntie, I'm home. - You're back?

- I'm here, too. - You're here, too?

Okay, it's fixed.

- You amazing. - It's nothing.

- Hi, Uncle. - Hi, guys.

- Uncle? - This is my nephew, Xiao Di.

Zhou Fang often mentions you. And she is...?

- She's my landlord's younger sister. - I'm also her best friend.

Is that so? I have high standards for my best friends.

Password entered successfully. Please open the door.

Luo Luo?

Luo Luo.

Where do I put this?

- Wait! Why is your hand injured? - I'm fine.

- Xiao Di, grab a band-aid from my bed-side table. - Okay.

- No need! No need! It's really not needed. - It'll get infected.

Really, I'm fine.

Where did you go? You even left the TV on.

- How did you scratch yourself? - I'm across from you.

Why?

Hurry,! Hurry!

It's one thing if I didn't see it, but I saw it.

Why are you back so late?

Zhou Fang has a guest, so I was just curious.

So I went over and chatted.

How is that person?

Very good! From a family of scholars and is cultured.

Brother Xiao Dong is awesome! He has two master's degrees.

You've met him once and you're already calling him "brother"?

I've cared for you for more than ten years and I haven't heard you call me brother many times.

He's younger than you by so many years. If I don't call him brother, what else would I address him by? (T/N: calling someone "uncle" means they're old)

Oh right, he also told me a lot of English experiences.

He even said that he'll tutor me when he has time.

I'm home, too. Why don't you find me to tutor you?

Do you have time?

Furthermore, he is witty, humorous, patient, and doesn't act superior besides being a straight-A student.

Unlike you, wearing a long face every day.

This designer is not bad.

She graduated from London College of Fashion and even has her own studio.

Xiao Zuo, our application period is ending soon but this person never stopped.

We received her information more than once.

Also, there are updates with every submission.

Zhou Fang? Isn't she the one who went on the popular search a few days ago?

- She really applied? - That's right.

We have looked up information on all our applicants.

And her original brand only recently established.

Xiao Zuo, I heard you and President Song both know about this person.

I do know her but our President Song has said earlier that this has to be fair and square.

- We can't be biased. - That's right!

However, she is President Song's friend after all. I think she could at least have some preferential treatment.

Then you guys discuss it and tell me what you think.

Okay.

[Zhou Fang]

- Hello? - President Su, you predicted correctly. She applied.

Okay, I got it.

You went to see Su Yushan's assistant today?

We had a simple discussion.

They also mentioned Sister Zhou Fang.

As soon as Su Yushan's assistant heard that you know Sister Zhou Fang, he started paying a lot of attention to her.

He even said that we can give some preferential treatment to Sister Zhou Fang.

It's impossible to guard against some things.

What do you mean?

I hope that Zhou Fang won't qualify this time.

- Why not? - If Zhou Fang gets selected,

then our relationship will get revealed very quickly.

When that time comes, Zhou Fang will be someone who worked her way up through connections.

With her personality, do you think she can tolerate that?

Let me tell you! People's words can be scary.

At that time, all of Zhou Fang's hard work

and all of her confidence will be ruined by all this gossip and talk.

You are right.

And this won't be the end result.

What I am most afraid of is that Zhou Fang

might be a target of Su Yushan.

As I recall, that day, Su Yushan seemed to admire Sister Zhou Fang quite a bit.

They really are interested in Zhou Fang.

If you say Su Yushan only knew about Zhou Fang through that video,

I wouldn't believe it.

When you said "target," you mean using her. Right?

He wants to use Sister Zhou Fang as a tool against you.

President Song, are you under a lot of stress from work?

You are too nervous.

Look! You and Sister Zhou Fang are not lovers nor family,

how could he use her?

I do hope that he can't use her.

President Song, whenever you do something, you always aim at the heart of the matter.

But somehow, when Su Yushan is mentioned, you always seem to be perplexed.

Even I get confused from what you're saying.

Did something happen between you and Su Yushan?

They are all small matters,

but they are all matters that could not be resolved.

Tang Jie, You You, Kai! Come over here!

Hurry! Hurry!

Who has the best luck?

- I never win at Mahjong. - My hands have really bad luck.

I am not good at it, either.

Forget it! I will do it myself.

[Panel of judges from Genius Designer]

What's the big deal about it?

- It's just a competition. - That's right.

What would you like to eat?

[Dear Ms. Zhou Fang,] [Hello. I am pleased to notify you that you have been successfully selected to the preliminary rounds of the Genius Designer Competition...]

Yes!

You drank too much again, right?

What are you doing?

- What? - I am telling you to slap your face.

Didn't you really look down on me before?

Through my effort and never-stopping hard work,

I finally received an invitation from your Wanfeng Group.

Are you surprised? Are you shocked?

- It's called a notification, not an invitation. - Whatever.

Stop going back on your words! I know you feel embarrassed.

I just wanted to let you know that in this world, don't look down on anyone.

Everyone has the possibility of fulfilling their dreams.

What do you mean by that? You don't believe me?

Why don't I show you the notification letter then?

- Keep your voice down! Luo Luo is asleep. - They already sent it to me!

I came to let you know that

- I succeeded! I got in. - Okay.

- I am leaving. Bye. - Wait up.

- What? You don't believe me? - I will take you for a walk and get some air.

- I already got a lot of air on my way here. - Don't move!

Let's go!

Actually, when you had said in the beginning that I wouldn't make it,

I really thought that I couldn't do it and felt like I was half the height of other people.

I was thinking, that's not right.

Did someone drop out of the competition?

Or did you go easy on me and let me in because you pity me?

And then I called Five-Three. Five-Three is that Xiao Zuo.

As soon as I heard his reaction, I felt like my heart could be at ease.

A newbie like you is not worthy for me to violate my principles.

What do you mean a newbie like me? That's what you don't understand. What they need is exactly someone like me.

Down to earth, yet inspirational! But I didn't get picked because of these labels.

I got it because I had worked very hard. How is it? I am great, right?

I really can't tell at all.

You're just jealous.

Do you want me to compliment you a bit to make you happy?

I have enough compliments.

I am really quite great! I am really quite great!

I am really, really, really, really quite great!

Zhou Fang...

Zhou Fang, you really want to join the competition. Right?

Of course! If I didn't want to join the competition, why did I prepare so much?

Since you wanted to join the competition so much, I need to be clear and let you know this in advance.

By joining this competition, you might encounter all different types of problems.

You have to prepare yourself mentally in advance.

What kind of problems? All the competitors are stronger than I am?

No problem! I am not afraid at all.

Actually, I am already really happy that I got selected.

It's true that you got into the competition this time

because someone went easy on you, but it wasn't me who did it.

So after the competition begins, there might be a lot of strange things happening.

You have to... You have to first, think clearly;

as a friend, I should keep a distance.

But if you want me to pretend like I don't know anything,

I can't live with that.

Who went easy on me?

Wanfeng is no longer the sole sponsor for this competition.

Baisai is now, another sponsor.

Baisai is Wanfeng's old enemy.

What does that have to do with me?

I don't know how, but Su Yushan of Baisai Group found out about our relationship.

So it was his doing that you were selected for this competition.

What kind of relationship do we have? Why is he helping me?

He is not helping but using you.

I don't know what he wants, either. I can't tell right now.

Forget it! Let's stop discussing this. Let's go home!

If this is the case, I will drop out from the competition and give the opportunity to someone who is more qualified.

I am not worthy of it.

I'm not telling you to solve problems like this.

Then, why are you telling me this?

[Genius Designer]

Good morning, everyone!

Firstly, congratulations to everyone who passed the open audition

and entered today's competition arena of Genius Designer.

I am the active director of this competition.

First, let me announce the advancing criteria for the preliminary contest.

The judges will give out scores according to the works

produced on the show by the 15 competitors.

And then, based on the ranking of the scores, the five lowest-scoring participants will be eliminated.

Today, we will use a vacation style as the topic for imaginative creation.

After the competition begins, in the fabric section,

within the limited amount of time,

one should choose no more than three pieces of fabric to produce their creative works.

Finish their works within 8 hours. Good luck to you all!

The countdown begins now.

[8:00:00] [Genius Designer]

Go over there.

Please excuse me.

[Donghua TV]

What is that designer doing?

One must contemplate before making a move.

Interesting! I quite look forward to it.

Thank you.

Her brand was only recently established.

There could potentially be a lot of changes in the future.

However, she does remind me of someone I know.

Don't be affected by me! This is only my personal opinion.

If she also catches everyone else's eyes,

then President Song would probably be fighting with me for her.

Senior, why did you only come now? Zhou Fang already started the competition.

I came right after work. There was too much traffic on the way.

- How is Zhou Fang doing? - Not sure! Let's go and see.

Qin Qing.

How is Zhou Fang doing?

She is all right.

That's good, then.

I have something to do, so I will get to work. Call me anytime!

Bye-bye.

Isn't that your boyfriend?

He is no longer my boyfriend.

- What happened? - Don't ask!

Let's take a look at Zhou Fang.

Hello! Do you not want these fabrics?

That's right! These are waste fabric, what do you want them for?

Can you give them to me then?

Thank you.

You are Zhou Fang, right?

Yes, I am Zhou Fang.

This is what you chose after choosing for such a long time?

I am not done yet.

I admire you!

Only focusing on yourself, using all your energy in your design.

Thank you, President Su, for your admiration but I am just an unknown designer.

Unknown designer? As expected, you are different from the others.

All right, I will stop bothering you.

Design well! Don't be nervous! I look forward to your performance.

Okay.

[05:19:47] [Genius Designer]

There is only one quota left. Why can't they announce it on site?

They even have to discuss it for this long?

- Zhou Fang, do you know President Su well? - I don't know him.

He only talked to you just now,. How is it possible that you don't know him?

Sorry for making you guys wait.

Director, hurry and announce the results.

Zhou Fang, congratulations!

If everything goes well, in the following two months, you will be very busy.

How is that possible? Everyone thinks that my work is great, why is she the only one who is advancing?

In a competition, one cannot explain everything.

From what I see, this quota is reserved for someone who has connections. Isn't it?

Someone with connections? What connections?

Do I have to name the person?

The works are shown right there. Everyone can see them.

Furthermore, I am not the only one with this thought.

If it's truly based on everyone's capabilities, with your skills,

don't you feel embarrassed to stay?

If you have any opinions, you may appeal to them with the panel of judges.

All right! Everyone, adjust yourself.

Get ready for the qualifying contest!

- Okay. - Okay.

I passed.

All right! Let's talk more after I get back.

How did it go? Did you pass?

I passed.

See! I told you so. You can definitely do it.

You aren't happy even though you passed?

I am a bit tired. I will head back now.

- Let me take you home. - No need! I want to be alone for a bit.

Let her be alone for a while.
