of possible gas inside.

have kind of died down

for most people and that's
when calls start to get stupid.

can't just have people stuck

just in a bad spot.

The on and off ramps, it's
like five minute walk that way

or a five minute walk that way.

Then you could walk up the ramp.

Generally there's a lot of
drunks on the roads at 1:00 AM.

So they don't get smoked,

I'm gonna make sure they
get off the roadway.

I would've just taken
the damn Uber honestly.

The Uber driver's tire
probably went flat.

for a fight in progress

at the gas station

that we actually go
to to get our drinks.

I didn't hear how many
people were involved.

We don't know if
there's 5 or 10 or 15.

So, you never know.

who you're taking on.

in as a fight in progress.

There was a description
of the truck.

This was the vehicle that
matched the description.

- What happened?

- We got told there
was a fight going on

and this was the vehicle
that dealt with the fight.

wasn't nothing,

- All right. I'm gonna
tell you right now.

This is your

If I find out that
something else happened,

really bad night.

And he's got a non-extraditable
outta Marion County.

- Okay, so 10-97 J3 means
that he's known to fight

and assault law
enforcement as we just saw.

And he's already on probation

and parole for resisting arrest.

By the way, this guy's
going to county tonight.

- While speaking
to the gentleman,

you could tell he could
not stop moving his jaw,

which is signs of somebody
that uses methamphetamines.

So we're also looking for
that to see if we see anything

in plain sight.

Look right there.

There is a gun.

- We can do a
warrantless search based

on probable cause if we believe

a crime has been committed.

In this case, we took the
male subject into custody.

We were able to run him.

He's coming back as
a convicted felon

and we observe a firearm

and ammunition in the vehicle,

which also gives us probable
cause to search the vehicle.

- It just goes to the point,
this is why we do what we do.

This subject could have
grabbed the firearm

and started shooting at us.

- I'm not seeing anything else.

Looks like we've got a 22.

There was a round in
the chamber, a 22 short.

- He has multiple
weapons charges.

It was a convicted
felon that had a rifle.

This will stop
bullets, this won't.

Skin and bone don't
stop anything.

I'm just watching traffic,

looking for expired
registration, lane violations,

change in driver behavior,

So there is large
quantities of drugs

or money running
up and down here.

It's just predominantly
it's meth.

We have four and a half
miles in our sandbox.

We could deploy Donzi on every
traffic stop if we wanted to.

I don't do that on
every traffic stop.

I like to talk to
the individual,

see if they're
maintaining eye contact.

and appears that the

Then I will deploy Donzi
if consent is not given.

Donzi hits, we get probable
cause to search the vehicle.

In this instance,
Donzi did not alert

and I can't smell
what he's smelling

and I have to trust my dog.

And if he's not
showing any interest,

then I just have
to go off of that.

But it's pretty remarkable
what a dog can do.

subjects fighting in front

of a bar down here on the strip.

Didn't have a fight all
weekend and on a Sunday at 7:30

and we're going to a fight.

I didn't fool with it
'cause he was super honest

with me about everything, so.

lane here if you will.

There's the school,
the Osage High School.

This is where I
went to high school.

There's the football field.

Some of my greatest memories
are from that football field.

You know, there's some aspects

of my childhood
that were amazing.

You know, there's also some
aspects of my childhood

that weren't great.

My dad had a lot to do with
drugs, using and selling.

And then my brother fell in
line with that, doing drugs

and selling drugs and
in and outta jail.

And I didn't want
that for myself,

so I left here,
joined the military

and I wanted to get away

and lack of a better term,
kind of become my own man.

And the actual terminology
that I put on my cover letter

for my resume, I've served
my country, now it's time

to come home and
serve my community.

And a lot of the local
crime is derived from drugs

and drug use or the
purchase of said drugs.

Like people stealing things
to support their habit.

You know?

So, that's a big reason why
I became a police officer

because I watched firsthand
what addiction does, you know?

[light music]

I was probably a teenager

and I've known him the same.

He's probably walked a
good 10, 15 miles already

or 15 to get to
where he was going.

I went to school out here.

I graduated out here,
now I work out here.

There's a lot of people
I interact with daily

that I didn't know from the
job I knew from previous.

And Mr. Henson is one of them.

Staying clean?

- Good deal.

We've dealt with him
a lot in the past.

He has a lot of prior charges

for burglary and
a bunch of stuff.

So, all of us have a pretty
good history with Mr. Henson.

But he seems to be doing better.

He did a couple years
in prison for burglary.

Did you hear about my brother?

- [bleep] he's back in prison.

- Yeah.

- Well, you know
the three things,

people, places, and things.

- [Henson] Yeah.

- Mr. Henson and my brother,
[bleep] they've hung out

for years and years and years.

My brother is a local person
that we deal with all the time.

So, it's kind of funny.

We chose different
sides of the law.

But you know, you make
your bed, you sleep in it.

- This black vehicle, I
guess it's an Escalade

or a Denali with green
under it came flying up

and as we started to
merge in to leave,

they blew by and
blew on the horn.

I'm like, "Wait a second, who's
got the right of way here?

We didn't do anything wrong."

- I'm like, "What
is your problem?"

He said, "You don't have the
right of way anywhere, [bleep]."

And I said, "Who are
you calling that?"

He had a tumbler of something.

He threw it at the car.

He was following us.

So he saw me pull in,
saw Officer Riner there,

said "I need your assistance."

I said, "See that vehicle
sitting right over there.

It is a black Escalade and
his green lights are off.

And he has been giving
us a hard way to go."

- All right, let me read your
ID off to dispatch real quick

and then we'll go
from there, okay?

- But they went on their way.

- And that car happened to
pull over at the same time

and it stopped and
we thought it was it.

- Wow and wow, kapow.

Totally road, though.

- Yeah.

- So that guy's out
there right now.

- Now I have something
to go look for tonight.

catch this guy.

through this department
and the state of Missouri.

I find I've been able

to actually help more people
than I would've ever thought.

Yellow Dodge truck appears be
occupied by one white male.

stepdad's in hospice here?

- Okay, I got a tip from
Lake Ozark PD.

Apparently somebody said
they heard you specifically

in this vehicle say
that you had drugs.

We're obviously not gonna do
the he said she said game.

So we've been following you
basically looking for a reason

to pull you over
and have that excuse

to make contact with you.

- I believe in directness,

so I just figured I'd
come say something.

- [Riner] Have you
ever used meth before?

- [Riner] Years ago?

- [Riner] If I were to
bring a dog out here,

would it alert to
anything in this car, man?

- [Riner] I'm sorry, what?

- [Riner] I hear you,
but that's not quite

what I asked either all right?

So I'm not gonna put you in
cuffs or nothing like that, man,

but you are being detained,

suspicion with some
of your mannerisms.

that I'm seeing.

It's a car that I've
been sitting on.

OB was able to get a stop on it.

Me and Johnson were
able to get PC.

You know it sucks that
we had to wake him up,

job as K9 officer.

- So, I just started
asking him questions.

The entire time I'm talking
to him, you see the bruxism,

all of his movements
are exaggerated.

All the signs were there

for central nervous
system stimulant.

So, I started talking to him.

I was like, "If a
K9 came out here,

would it alert on your
vehicle to anything?"

And he immediately looked
down and started mumbling.

I was like, that's a red flag.

- Yeah.

- So, that's where we're at.

- All right, sounds good.

about six minutes out.
