[Episode 13]

So that poem you just recited, what does it mean?

It doesn't...

have any special meanings.

Just tell me.

Or I won't be able to sleep tonight if you don't tell me.

It really doesn't mean anything.

It's not important.

You don't need to know.

No, I have to know.

I want to know what can make

the number one gentleman of Daye so jealous.

Hua Hua, did you know

there are six rituals to be completed when a man wants to marry someone.

In addition to presenting the wedding gift,

the remaining five rituals require a living swan goose.

Swan goose is hard to hunt.

People will substitute it with other prey.

A jade-like maiden describes such a situation.

An antelope is slain, wrapped in white on the plain.

A maiden longing for love, tempted by a hunter strong.

It's about a man who brings prey wrapped in white cloth

to tempt the woman who's longing for love.

Why do men think about it like this?

So you think I was tempted by Shi Jin because I accepted his prey?

Not tempted.

You were seduced.

Is there a difference?

Then you asked me

if I had experienced the following content of the poem.

What's the following content?

The following content...

It's not important.

Why are you leaving?

It's really not important.

Tell me.

Your Grace,

you will know it later.

Later?

[Bright Mountains & Beautiful Water]

What happened today,

actually allowed me to see my heart clearly.

Hua Hua,

I will prepare wedding presents stretching for ten miles.

Rong Xia,

why are you torturing me like this?

Young Master,

this is a thank-you gift from Young Master Ban.

Open it.

It's "Full Moon above the Cold Mountain."

I didn't expect the Ban family to have such a treasure.

Is this painting very expensive?

This painting of "Full Moon above the Cold Mountain"

is the last work of a master in the previous dynasty.

He was far away from his wife and living alone on the cold mountain.

There are thousands of mountains between them.

No words can express their longings for each other.

A lonely crane under the bright moon.

A man is sitting alone in a pavilion.

This gift from Young Master Ban is quite strange.

Do you really think he sent it?

Could it be Princess Ban?

No, I have to send this painting back now.

We should send something.

However, I'll send a return present.

Young Master, Madam wore it during her wedding.

You want to...

My mother always liked plain jewelry

when I was young.

When I saw this jewelry for the first time,

it's blushing like blood but calm and restrained.

I can't help but wonder

who would deserve to wear such a set of jewelry.

Young Master, are you thinking of...

This is a return present from our Count Cheng'an to Young Master Ban.

Please accept it.

A return present?

What did I send him?

Why would Count Cheng Cheng'an send me a return present?

You can ask Her Grace.

Mr. Du, thank you.

I have brought the gift here. I should leave now.

You haven't told me what I sent him.

This is for you.

For me?

Hua, you sent him a gift in my name.

But I don't like calligraphy.

Why does he give me an inkstone?

It means he will make sure you study.

That's too cruel.

I like Shi Jin better.

I don't want this.

Mom, look. Is it beautiful?

It's beautiful.

This is all from Count Cheng'an?

A grown girl can't be kept at home.

Mom, what are you talking about?

But why hasn't Count Cheng'an

come to perform the six rituals?

I guess his parents died early

and no one taught him the rituals of getting married.

This won't work.

I have to remind him.

Mom!

I'm not in a hurry.

All right, I'm going to get some beauty sleep.

Silly girl.

Your grandmother and I have prepared your dowry long ago.

All we need is a good man to marry you.

Duke of Zhou, (T/N: God of dreams)

since you can protect Hua by letting her dream about the future,

please grant her a good marriage.

Your Highness, you asked me out late at night. What can I do for you?

I have been pondering.

I guess Count Cheng'an

won't easily give up looking into what happened back then.

Looks like Your Highness wants to tell me

the truth about what happened.

My husband and your father both died of the poison, jequirity.

It's just the way they died is different.

Your father died all of a sudden.

My husband was ill for a long time before he died.

Then the Ban and Rong family declined.

But the Yan and Xie family was in full swing in the court.

I venture to ask, do you have substantial evidence?

If I had substantial evidence,

how would I tolerate the Yan and Xie family till this day?

There is one thing I don't understand.

I don't know if Your Highness can tell me the truth.

Today I asked you out,

I will tell you everything I know without reserve.

With your power, even without evidence,

it's still not difficult to avenge Old General Ban's death.

But why did you...

The deceased have gone.

Those who are alive can only look forward.

I believe the spirit of Old General Ban in Heaven

will hope that I can protect the Ban family.

Your Highness, you have a family to protect.

But I'm being left all alone.

I won't slaughter his whole family for revenge.

But I don't want my parents and my elder brother to die for nothing.

Count Cheng'an, the Yan family has collapsed.

Just stop already.

If you refuse to stop or you want to turn the Ban family

into a sword for you to use,

I won't stand by and do nothing.

Your Highness, I have no intention of using the Ban family anymore.

This is all I can say.

Advance or retreat, it's up to you.

Your Highness.

Your Highness, are you still worried about Count Cheng'an?

I dare not

to fail my old friend.

Unfortunately, Count Cheng'an can't understand your efforts.

It has been hard for you.

When is it not hard for me

during my whole life?

Your Highness.

Your Highness!

Invite Physician Zhang here later.

Your Highness, you forgot. Physician Zhang is gone.

Your Highness, Physician Zhang once said

this golden elixir can prolong life but also hurt your body.

It's quenching thirst by drinking poison.

You can't use it until the final end.

How long have you been serving me?

I have been serving Your Highness for more than 30 years.

During these years,

you have worked hard.

Your Highness treats me like family.

I can't repay you.

I just want to serve Your Highness forever.

Your Highness!

Prepare a horse!

I'll enter the palace!

Wang De! Summon Minister Shi!

Please, Your Majesty.

I did find it in the mansion of Princess Royal.

I entered the palace and presented it to Your Majesty as soon as I got it.

Your Majesty, I dare not to deceive you even if I have ten heads.

You dare not? If it weren't for me to notice the damaged corner,

are you going to keep lying to me?

[Sky-holding Gate]

Your Majesty, please calm down.

I beg you to give me another chance

to find the real Tiger Tally

and make up for my error.

But there is one thing I can't figure out.

Speak!

Why would Princess Royal

have a fake Tiger Tally?

I think she must also have the real one.

If the real Tiger Tally is not lost

and Princess Royal has it,

could it be... could it be that Princess Royal

is plotting a rebellion?

Princess Royal has arrived!

Aunt, how do you have time to see me today?

Your Majesty, I'm guilty!

Aunt, please get up.

What happened?

Does Your Majesty and Minister Shi have important matters to discuss?

I'm here without an invitation. Would I disturb you?

It's okay.

Nothing is more important than my aunt.

Come on, bring a seat.

Yes.

Aunt.

Your Majesty, I lost an extremely important object in my mansion.

Extremely important object?

What is it?

I will ask someone to find it now.

It's the Tiger Tally.

The Tiger Tally is lost.

The Tiger Tally?

Hasn't the Tiger Tally been lost for a long time?

- Yeah. - I don't understand what you are saying.

Your Majesty,

I lost the fake Tiger Tally in my mansion.

Fake Tiger Tally?

Your Highness, why do you have a fake Tiger Tally?

I'm guilty.

I shouldn't harbor a fake Tiger Tally.

It's just when Old General Ban left,

I was alone in my empty house. I missed him every day.

So I asked someone to forge the most important item of Old General Ban when he was alive,

which is the Tiger Tally.

It can remind me of him.

In case of something unforeseen, it was specially made of fragile casting sand.

You will know if it's real or fake at a glance.

The fake tally was used to commemorate my husband.

Now I lost it suddenly.

I'm afraid someone will use this chance to make trouble.

I'm panicked. So I came here to ask for punishment.

- Aunt. - Well,

in Daye, who doesn't know

Her Highness and His Majesty are as close as mother and son?

Who dares to turn you against each other? Right?

Minister Shi is right.

Aunt, since the Tiger Tally is fake, just let it go.

If you really want it back,

I will ask a good craftsman to make another one for you.

At that time you only need to give me the design of it.

Your Majesty mustn't do that.

I'm grateful that Your Majesty doesn't blame me. How dare I trouble you?

Besides, time has changed.

I no longer need it to remember my husband.

I'm here this time because I'm worried

that someone wants to blind Your Majesty.

Fortunately, Your Majesty and I

are frank people, and we have nothing to hide.

Of course.

Yes. Yes.

Your Highness.

Chonghai,

we parted in a hurry at the birthday banquet last time.

I didn't have time to chat with you about the past.

The view of the Moon Palace is still beautiful as before.

In a blink of an eye, our hair has turned white.

Indeed.

Time is merciless.

But...

Your Highness's appearance is no less stunning than before.

Really?

Shi Chonghai, it has been more than 20 years.

Why do you still like making jokes about me?

I'm telling the truth.

Your appearance back then

was better than Princess Fule.

Do you still remember my look at that time?

Who dares to forget how dignified you looked back then.

If it weren't for Old General Ban to marry you first, I would have...

Please forgive me.

I'm so happy that I forgot to watch my words.

You didn't say anything wrong.

I wonder,

do you really think it's a pity

between us back then?

Yes.

In that case, why don't you try to make up for the lost time?

The Ban and Shi family can also make peace.

If Your Highness is willing to make this happen,

then the Shi family will prepare for the six rituals.

Your Highness.

What time is it?

Your Highness, you are not feeling well.

Are you really going to attend the family meal?

If I don't go this time,

I'm afraid

I won't have a chance again.

Besides, there are many important things to do.

Tell Cui to prepare a carriage.

Yes, Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Put makeup on me,

so as not to worry my family.

Yes.

Son, I'm here.

Mother, you came early.

- Mother, you are here. - Greeting to Mother.

Greeting to Mother.

I have prepared your favorite dishes today.

Have some tea. I'll go get a pot of good wine for you.

- Go ahead. - You stay here.

I'm going to check the dishes, Mother.

Go ahead, you don't need to stay here to take care of me.

Heng greets Grandma.

Hua greets Grandma.

Hua Hua!

Your dress is extraordinary.

It's really beautiful.

Grandma, if you like it, I'll get someone to customize a set for you.

Grandma, Hua took many efforts to dress up for today's family meal.

Beautiful. Very beautiful.

Mr. Shi has arrived!

Mr. Shi, why are you here?

I invited him here.

Rest assured.

I'll handle it for you.

Count Cheng'an has arrived!

Greeting to Your Highness.

There's no need for this.

Today is a family meal.

I didn't expect Count Cheng'an to show up.

It's my honor

to be invited by the princess.

And the dishes of the Ban family suit my appetite well.

There are often new dishes.

I'm excited to taste them.

I guess Mr. Shi has never tasted them before.

Count Rong is a regular.

It's my first time to be here.

But I will come often in the future.

Count Cheng'an and Mr. Shi, I'm pleased to have you two

coming to our family meal.

I hope you can make yourself at home and enjoy yourself.

Your Grace, this is the new high-quality rouge from the Western Regions.

There is only one box in the whole capital.

It's perfect for you.

Well...

Let's eat.

What are you waiting for? Come on! Go ahead and eat.

- Right. Go ahead. - Come on.

- Let's eat. - Otherwise, the dishes will be cold. Hurry up.

Here.

Mother, try this.

- Here, dear. - Thank you, Master. - Please.

Mr. Shi, I heard that you are unstoppable

on the battlefield.

Young Master, you overpraised me.

Here.

This time the Yan family carried the coffin and made trouble.

Mr. Shi, thank you for stopping them in time.

I'll drink tea as wine to express my thanks.

It's my duty.

Such a trifling matter is not worth mentioning.

Mother, there is something you don't know.

Count Cheng'an should take the first credit for it.

- On that day, he... - Marquis Ban is overstating it.

Not to mention we both take positions in the court,

even a normal person would draw a sword and render help when running into injustice.

I'll also thank Count Cheng'an.

Thank you for caring about the Ban family so much.

For such an intelligent person like Count,

you must understand my feelings.

I'm grateful for your help. Please.

Come on, I'll drink with you.

Don't say that, Your Highness.

All right, come on.

Hua, they helped you.

You should make a gesture.

Is Grandma picking on me?

Thank you two for helping me.

I will drink the first glass.

Your Grace is heroic. I'm impressed.

I'll empty it.

- Please. - Mother

I'm drinking a toast to you.

Your Grace has lost sleep and an appetite because of Yan Zhen,

and look thinner.

You should drink less.

This dish is nourishing. You should have more of it.

Here.

Count Rong has a point.

This soup is soothing.

You should drink more of this.

This dish is more nutritious.

Be careful!

- I want to drink more. - Be careful!

Let's drink at another place!

- Master. - Let's drink!

- This way. - Let's drink!

Count, do you still remember what I said that day?

Of course, I remember.

Since you remember, why do you ignore my words?

I understand your good intention.

It's just I don't agree with your approach.

I will find out the truth about what happened to my parents and brother.

I'm also sincere about protecting Hua Hua.

If Hua Hua

knows why you originally approached the Ban family,

how do you think she will react?

[Ban Mansion]

I didn't know you would be here today.

Sorry for the poor reception.

I'm honored to be invited by Her Highness. Besides,

I'm satisfied

to have a chat with you.

- Mr. Shi, my grandma... - I know.

Your Grace, don't worry. I understand.

Her Highness intends to fix us up.

But rest assured.

I won't force you like Yan Zhen did.

I will use my own way

to let you know my feelings.

No matter when, I only hope you can be happy.

Mr. Shi, right now,

I don't want to think about marriage.

It's okay. I can wait.

What if I will never get married?

Then I will keep waiting.

Mr. Shi, is it worth it?

My heart is full of joy

to see your smile.

What are you looking at?

He didn't give me any prey this time.

Hua Hua, do you know

you are the most attractive prey?

Not everyone can hunt prey like me.

I just want to be the only hunter who can have you.

From now on, you can only see me.

Okay?

Your grandfather wanted to pick a pomegranate for me.

When he was giving it to me,

the pomegranate suddenly fell to the ground.

He and I bent down to pick it up at the same time.

Unexpectedly, our hands touched.

Then we spent the rest of our lives together.

It feels like it just happened yesterday.

Now we have parted forever.

Grandma, you must miss Grandpa a lot.

I never stopped missing him.

I'm so envious

that you love each other so much.

Hua, don't be envious.

I believe...

there will be someone

who will treat you with all his heart.

Don't worry, Grandma.

I'll find a man

who will pick pomegranates for me.

It's winter now.

Where can you find pomegranates?

Grandma, you must take good care of yourself.

In August next year, our whole family

will hold a grand pomegranate feast right under this pomegranate tree.

How is it?

Good.

Good

Make it fast, hurry up!

- Coming. - Be careful.

[Birthday] Hurry up.

Coming.

[Birthday]

How do you drive the carriage?

- What's going on? - Don't you have eyes?

Who is this?

I don't know.

You know, your nine kinship exterminations will be beheaded

if you break His Majesty's birthday gift!

Yes!

Sorry, Sir.

[Akeqi, Prince of Aipo] I'm Akeqi, the Prince of Aipo.

I'm here to celebrate His Majesty's birthday on behalf of my country.

You are a prince.

It's okay. Prince, please.

Greeting to Your Grace.

Congratulations, you got promoted.

Thanks to His Majesty's appreciation.

Now I'm the Deputy Commander of the Imperial Guard.

Your clothes are exquisite.

You are tall and upright.

Wearing this armor makes you really good-looking.

You overpraised me.

It's cold outside the hall.

Mr. Shi, you should keep warm.

Beware of catching a cold.

Your Grace are also like the Goddess of the Moon.

Sorry. Sorry.

Your Grace, this is an entry-level eunuch in the palace.

He is reckless and ignorant of etiquette.

I'll take him back and punish him hard.

He is still a child.

Come here.

After a closer look, you look quite cute.

You look like the parrot Yuanyuan in His Majesty's birdhouse.

They do look alike after a closer look.

His face is a little thinner.

Why don't you send him to work at the bird house?

This is for you.

Thank you.

Remember to raise yourself fat and let me take a look.

I'll call you Chubby from now on.

Good day, Your Grace!

Is she the No.1 talented woman in Daye?

She indeed deserves her name.

The appearance of Feixian really puts others in the shadows.

Really?

Why do I feel like they are looking at Hua instead?

Where did you get this set of blood jade jewelry?

Hurry up and tell me now.

It's a little gesture from a certain someone.

Scholars should have a sense of proportion.

Even with a beauty in front of you, you still shouldn't be so rude.

Let's go.

It's him.

Tell me the truth.

Are you and Count Cheng'an going to have some good news?

What?

I haven't enjoyed enough freedom.

Listen to me.

You have to be more difficult.

Then Count Cheng'an will love you more.

Prince of Aipo presents himself!

Aipo wishes Your Majesty longevity!

Good.

This jade carving is exquisite. I like it.

I will give a big reward.

Tell me what you want.

Your Majesty, I heard that there is a stunning woman in your country.

I'm yearning for her.

Can I marry this woman as my princess consort?

Which girl are you talking about?

This woman's surname is Shi.

She is good at poetry and painting,

and known as the No.1 talented woman in Daye.

I...!

Thanks to Prince's undeserved appreciation.

It's just my granddaughter

is too feeble.

She doesn't deserve such an honor.

Minister Shi, it doesn't sound like you.

Everyone knows that the Shi family's granddaughter is brilliant.

Don't be so humble.

Today is His Majesty's birthday.

If His Majesty agrees,

doesn't it mean she will be sent to the borderland?

It's improper to talk about love affairs.

No harm.

If I'm able to match up a happy couple, that counts as a good deed, too.

This is going to be interesting.

I heard that Daye's women don't like beards.

So I shaved my beard to show my sincerity.

You are sincere. I like you.

Thank you, Your Majesty!

Well, the Prince of what...

Prince of Aipo.

How dare you force the beauty of Daye to marry you in public?

It's shameless and despicable!

Second Prince, are you insulting our country Aipo?

Luo, don't be rude.

Step down.

Minister Shi, congratulations.

Go away.

Miss Shi, please marry me.
