Phil: Previously on "the amazing race"... with eight
teams competing, a challenge in the French riviera had Evan
fighting tooth and nail.
>> Are you ok?
Phil: And Cedric was forced to sink or swim.
>> No!
Phil: But no one was safe when teams face the second head to
head of the season. Team ocean rescue lost match
after match.
Before showing better ball control than team slam dunk.
>> Cedric and Shawn, you have been eliminated.
>> We win as a team and lose as a team.
Phil: When the race continued in province team chomp pit off
...bit move than they could chew.
And renewed energy, winning the leg.
And each other's hearts.
>> Would you marry me?
>> I'm almost in shock. I'm so happy.
>> We're going to have to work together.
We can work together. >> I want to have a beach
wedding.
>> Can I be your flower girl? Phil: We all want to go.
That's what you call bling. >> Prague.
Phil: Now teams will book their flights to the Czech Republic
and the capital city of Prague using the fast and easy to use
travelocity mobile app. >> Here's the app.
>> All right. Let's look at flights.
>> We use the travelocity app to book our flight.
And we really... really convenient and landed us on the
first flight to Prague. >> Slide to purchase.
>> Ok.
We found our flight.
>> Made easy by the use of travelocity.
>> Boom.
>> We're going to book this flight.
We arrive at 11:00 A.M. >> slide to purchase.
Just that easy. >> Caution.
Double u-turn ahead.
Phil: Teams are heading to the landlocked country of the Czech
Republic. Their first clue and the double
u-turn are here.
In front of this Neo renaissance masterpiece the
rodolfno. >> Airport.
>> A month or two in to our relationship, nine years ago I
knew it was... my one.
>> And I have the same feeling. The first year that I was with
Brittany I knew I would marry that girl.
>> We are miggede a high and want to be careful and don't
want to get too confident.
We would be happy if we don't get first place the next couple
of legs and if not you get a target on your back and
everybody wants to u-turn you when you get a chance.
>> We shouldn't have is won that last one.
>> Caution. Double u-turn.
>> Another top three finish.
>> Yes. That's 5-5.
Long may it continue. >> You never know what's
coming. >> You don't know what's
coming. >> We've had head to heads and
now there's a u-turn. There's less and less room for
error.
>> So far people don't seem to want a u-turn.
But you had... >> you add a little pressure in
any situation.
>> I think at the beginning, people did count us out because
we kept coming in like always at the end.
>> We would have counted each other out.
>> And don't worry about them guys.
We're killing ourselves.
>> We would rather people count us out instead of see us as a
threat running around with a bull's eye on our back.
>> The possibility of a u-turn does make me a little bit more
insecure about my relationships at the...
>> I don't think inelse would have plans at u-turn at this
point.
>> You don't know what's going on behind closed doors and
behind their little heads.
You never know. Some people could have dark
thoughts about u turning people.
>> Does everybody have the same flight?
>> We get in at 10:00.
>> 10:00 A.M. >> I think 11:00.
>> Ok.
>> Once we land we have to make up some time.
>> I was trying... and when they get to the u turns.
Don't think about it. >> Very smart.
>> We really lucked out and are on the first flight with team
extreme, the twins. >> And ocean rescue.
>> And then the second is flight, that's big brother,
violinists. >> And indycar.
>> What are you guys thinking about this double u-turn?
>> Not ideal for the people on the later flight.
>> Right. >> You know, double u-turn
ahead.
>> I know, yeah.
>> Claws come out.
>> Yeah.
>> One team.
>> So we're off leaving in last place.
And we're super excited about it.
>> I want to be excited to go to Prague more than that I just
don't want to be out of the race.
>> We're headed to Prague.
>> I'm a little nervous.
Because there's a double u-turn ahead.
>> I think absolutely whoever from the second flight gets to
the u-turn first will probably u-turn.
>> Drama. I know.
>> Heating up.
>> Getting a lot more contentious now.
[Captioning funded by CBS productions and CBS, inc.]
d >> taxi.
We need to go to the rudolfino. Hopefully we keep our lead on
the second flight.
>> There's not really that much difference in between flights.
An hour maybe.
>> We need to really take advantage of every second and
race like we're last. >> It is gorgeous.
>> It's so pretty here right now, though.
>> Yay. And we got the world's fastest
cab driver. >> We're so thrilled.
>> Rocking it out for us. >> Rudolfino.
And just about to get to. So gorgeous.
>> So beautiful.
>> Can you wait?
>> Look for a clue. >> Everyone's here.
>> This way.
This way. >> There it is.
>> We choose... >> we choose not to u-turn
anybody.
>> And didn't have a necessary toit u-turn anybody and didn't
want to make any enemies. >> Choose not to u-turn
anybody.
>> People coming behind us have to fight it out because it's do
or die for them.
>> And not going... >> no u-turn.
>> Been in the back of the pack and the risk calculus was it
made more sense, we absolutely would have done it.
>> And this or that.
Phil: In this detour teams must choose between this or that.
>> That's all it says.
This or that. >> Let's just go to that one.
>> We're foge to do... going to do that.
>> We choose that, whatever that may be.
>> Milos knows where he's going.
Milos knows.
Very happy that we held on to our taxi because I'm seeing the
twins and Yale trying to figure out where they're going.
>> There is a taxi. Do you want to hale it?
>> No.
>> Because it might be faster.
That's the reason why.
>> We discussed we're generally going to stay away from taxis.
>> I feel like time pressure is not a reason to change that.
>> Evan wins a good amount of arguments.
>> I would say I'm tactful but pointed.
>> Sometimes you do need someone who is willing to just
say yeah, you were wrong. >> Got a little...
>> ok.
I feel like you did, too. >> And when you start changing
your... >> ok.
Cool. >> I'm glad u-turn was there.
So we're past that stretch. >> Yeah.
>> Up to the last three teams on that second flight.
>> Oh, gosh.
I don't envy them.
>> It's here. This is it?
Oh, yeah. That's it.
That's it.
>> Ok.
>> You wait, we pay you.
>> Ok.
>> Detour.
Phil: To say that the Czechs love beer would be a colossal
understatement. They drink more beer per capita
than any other country on earth.
Teams must restack these empty kegs and search among dozens
for a full keg of beer. They must then tap their keg
and pour a perfect mug. After they're approved by the
brew master, they'll have to navigate the maze of streets in
Prague to reach an address that will lead them to this
riverbank.
To find the party boat fidelio and deliver their keg to the
captain to keep the party going.
>> I worked at a brewery to supplement my career and I do
know how to pour a perfect beer.
We are restacking next to the original stack.
Coolers high. I'm going to hand them down to
you.
Six by six on the bottom layer. >> Just set them down.
You can reach them. >> Once we got there we figured
let's just power through this.
I can lift some kegs. >> Certainly.
>> That's what... >> pretty physically demanding.
>> This... >> she got more bruises.
>> Kristi, take these.
Kristi. >> Oh, my god, kristi, we had
plan and we were doing it well. >> That, attending the
university lecture and passing an oral exam.
Phil: Nicholas copernicus the golden age of astronomy here in
Prague. Teams must now listen to two
astronomical lectures, one stating that the earth is flat,
and the other stating the earth is round.
>> The earth is not round.
It is flat. The world is round.
Phil: They'll need to pay attention to the facts.
Figures, numbers, and details in order to pass an oral exam
and receive their... >> congratulationings.
>> Copernicus theory is absolute nonsense.
Flat earthers throughout the ages have used sextants and
trig nomry... trig nomry and found the sun and moon less
than a few thousand miles from earth.
>> We're solid c students and worried that might be an issue.
>> Copernicus calculated that the sun's distance from earth
was three million 321,000 miles.
In the next century, johanns kflt eplered it was over 12
million miles away and Christian Mayer thought it was
more than 104 million.
>> We almost have our second layer done.
And we need to order a beer.
Good job. This ises it.
I don't... this is it.
>> My husband drinks a lot of beer.
>> I like beer and football.
>> Here's a full one. >> Good job, kristi.
>> Ok.
I think we slide it on. >> Get it on... yes.
>> Ok.
We have beer. We have beer!
>> So I'm going to hand you kegs.
And you're going to put them down, ok?
>> Ok.
>> This is about... you can brush off the foam.
>> This is about the foam.
>> And to the top with no foam. >> You think?
>> I don't know.
>> I think you want just the right amount of foam.
We almost are there.
>> Oh, oh.
>> The earth is not round.
It is flat. And it is as easily observeable
today as it was 5,000 years ago.
>> Thank you. >> Oh, my god.
>> Professor beckles, the noor is yours.
>> In 1543 co-person tuss published his astronomical
model which placed the sun near the center of the universe.
With the earth and the other planets revolving around it.
In a sick lar motion. ...Circular motion.
>> There's no way I would retain any of that information
to pass an oral exam. >> That was ridiculous.
>> That was ridiculous. >> Let's go.
>> I wanted to skip school. >> No!
I wanted... >> to the beach.
That's what we always did.
We skipped school to go to the beach.
>> The copernicus system has several main features that show
that the earth is in fact round.
>> Good job.
>> We see team extreme. Right over there.
>> They look like they're pouring their beer.
>> Where's the brew master? >> This way, this way.
>> Oh, hello. >> Not enough foam.
We need more foam?
>> Ok.
Two fingers.
I was right the first time. >> Taxi.
>> Right there. Right there.
>> We're going to rudolfino.
>> Let's go.
>> I'm worried about the other two teams on our flight.
You... big brother and indycar. They definitely would u-turn in
a pinch if they needed to to win the game.
>> It's the only thing to do to save yourself.
>> Henry, this is you what miss by not being in a fraternity.
>> I got a full one.
>> Yeah.
Spin it to the side.
Better? >> Perfect.
>> Woo! >> Thank you so much.
>> So just to top it, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Like that? >> Yeah.
Perfect.
>> Out this way.
>> This is the exit.
>> We have to drop off a keg and we need to run back and we
need to get out of here.
>> Let's hope it's this way.
>> Is it something without a little nozzle?
>> Yes. Potentially.
>> That looks better, right?
>> Beautiful. >> Wait.
Why did you stop... stop. Why are you doing that?
>> Ok.
>> Why did you... >> to go faster.
Ok. Ok.
>> In the future, just like check or something before.
>> Ok.
Phil: >> In 1543 Nicholas copernicus
published his astronomical model five squared.
The earth is not perpendicular to the plane.
>> 400 inches.
>> The earth is constantly spinning eastward.
1,000 miles per hour. >> Venus.
Earth.
Mars. >> Three million 391,000 miles.
Thank you very much for your time.
>> Thank you. >> Come on.
>> There it is. >> Let's begin.
>> What is the distance in miles that copernicus
calculated between the earth and the sun?
>> Oh, my gosh. Zpwhrrks 3,391,000.
>> 12 million.
>> Sorry. It's wrong.
>> We need to keep going. >> Because we can get that and
go answer the question. And then keep going back and
forth.
>> I'm going to hand them to you.
You stack them and look what they did, ok?
>> There you go.
>> Your tickets.
>> Ok.
>> Ok.
All right.
>> Ok.
>> The last one.
We'll find it.
>> We cannot find this this building.
>> I don't know what to do, Jen.
Sometimes the game sucks. >> Copernicus calculated that
the sun's distance from earth was 3,391,000 miles.
In the next century, johanns... >> what is the distance
copernicus calculated between the earth and the sun?
>> 3,391,000. >> What is the name of the
second lecturer?
>> Professor berkwerth. >> Which planet did copernicus
say was second farthest from the sun?
>> Pluto. >> That's all right.
>> We'll be back. >> Progress is being made.
>> How is this one? >> Two fingers.
>> So... >> thank you.
>> Thank you. >> Let's go.
>> Found it, found it.
>> There's this one.
>> This gives me unpleasant flashbacks.
>> You got it, Henry. >> I got too much foam.
>> So do the next one with a little less foam.
>> Beer lovers around the world would be disappointed.
>> What is is the law that causes objects to disappear as
they move away from us? >> The law of perspective?
>> Up to how many miles away can a lighthouse be seen?
>> 40... >> they... seen by up to 40
miles away. >> 48?
>> That's wrong.
You failed. [Laughter]
>> And what's motivating us is our families.
To show our kids and don't give up.
Don't give up.
And you got to keep trying with things.
>> Henry, what are you doing? >> Ok.
Sorry.
Sorry.
>> Come on. How long is this... how long is
it? >> It's not a street.
It's a river. >> There's a river.
>> It's the river.
We need to figure out... >> I did not like being an hour
behind. >> Right here.
Perfect.
>> I'm a little nervous.
>> The turn.
>> The rudolfino is a musical venue.
So we're hoping that this is a music challenge.
>> Right there. >> We play one of his quartets
in power concert. So that was cool.
>> Where is it? >> Something...
>> like behind there. >> Let's go over here.
>> Keep going.
>> This way, this way, Jess.
Jess, Jess! >> We choose not to u-turn
anyone. >> Maybe out here.
>> Shall we do it?
>> I think we should. >> When it came to the u-turn
board it was clear as day what needed to happen to give us an
advantage.
>> We're going to u-turn the violinists.
>> The u-turn is a weapon and we really didn't have an issue
pulling the trigger if it meant surviving.
>> Damn it. >> That sucks.
>> Orings, my... oh, my god.
They're just getting to the board.
>> I can't look at them.
>> A power move by them.
>> We have to do both sides of the detour.
>> It didn't spin news a frenzy and we knew we had to buckle
down and work really hard no matter what the end result was
going to be.
>> We got u-turned under dvorak's statue.
>> A little ironic. >> We moit have... might have
lit a fire under their asses. >> Look at that.
>> Oh, beautiful. Beautiful.
Thank you.
>> Oh, beer.
Yes.
Beer is good as they say. >> I have a good relationship
with water, orange juice, very healthy.
Hydrating beverages.
So that's my drink of... >> the biggest lie I ever
heard.
>> The... main street to the right.
That's where we came in.
>> It's that way. Come on.
>> This is the wrong way. We came from that way, babe.
>> We can try the beer afterward I hope.
>> Big brother, u-turned the musicians.
So we hope we have a little bit of a gap.
>> And what year did copernicus publish his astronomical model?
>> 1544.... 143.
>> Is the earth round or flat?
>> Round. >> Thank you.
>> You have passed the exam.
>> That's about the same a our normal college.
It kind of took a while.
Phil: To get their next clue teams must head to this unique
spo where patrons experience a classic Czech treatment.
Bathing in beer.
>> Big brother just getting here from the second plane.
>> Let's get a taxi.
>> This ises not... this is not in English.
>> I'm pretty positive you don't speak Czech and I don't
speak Czech.
So if this was what the challenge was, you're going to
pass the school and try it the other detour.
>> That's not English.
>> Ok.
It's going to be stairs there.
d >> woo!
>> Thank you so much. >> We have to get better
directions. This is not working here.
>> Not working at all.
>> Just keep moving.
Keep moving.
>> This ises very frustrating when you can't find where
you're going. Phil: Today's lesson we will be
discussing opposing theories concerning celestial bodies in
our universe. At the end, you will be
administered a test.
So it is in your best interests to pay close attention.
>> That's probably it, right? >> Yeah.
d >> hi!
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
>> So tired.
>> We got horribly lost.
>> Is this right here?
>> Wait.
This... >> spa patrons.
>> Hello. >> Hello.
>> Do you have our next clue? >> Can you believe this?
>> Yay! >> This man has our clue.
>> Thank you, thank you.
>> Thank you so much! >> I'm jealous of these guys
right now.
>> Make your way to the stadia outside for your next clue.
Let's go back to our cab. >> Floating loading the kegs on
the kegorator and hook up the keg.
That bad boy is tapped. >> A perfect pour.
The foam. >> A little far from the
perfect pour, I would say.
>> Hey, what's going on?
>> Clue?
>> Cave man.
>> I don't know if the jets are making a bubble or them guys.
>> Where the hell is... >> maybe somewhere on the
water.
>> Where is the rest of the clue?
>> Please telling me I grabbed it.
You had everything in your hand.
I don't have a map. >> Look at me, look at me, look
at me, you're doing it again. You're getting frustrated.
>> I know because you're blaming me for the clue.
I don't have anything.
>> He got frustrated. >> Really?
>> After nine years, not much is going to change.
We know each other very well. We're very happy.
But at the same time, it's real life.
It's going to have its good moments and its bad moments
even if you are engaged.
>> Let's go that way. >> There's no way we could pass
that test.
>> No.
We like beer better.
So we're going to go with the beer.
>> That's good. That's going to be fun.
>> We definitely u-turned the violinists.
But they were the only ones behind us.
So we had to make a strategic move.
>> Oh, thank you! >> Thank you!
>> Enjoy... >> yeah, let's...
>> what is the distance in miles that copernicus
calculated between the earth and the sun?
>> 3,391,000. >> What is the name of the
second lecturer?
>> Lecturer.
Beckler.
Beckwith. >> Which planet did copernicus
say was the second farthest from the sun?
>> Jupiter. Law of perspective.
Blue. 40.
>> In what year did copernicus publish his astronomical model?
>> 15 something.
>> In 1943.... 1543.
>> 1571.
>> That's wrong.
You failed. >> Roadblock.
Phil: If this kafkaesque room looks familiar to you that's
because it head to an historic elimination.
>> We don't take the penalty for not dock the roadblock.
Phil: That left me waiting at the pit stop overnight.
Prague native France kafka was renowned for his bizarre and
surreal writing.
The term kafkaesque became the perfect word to describe this
nightmare scene.
Teams must figure out which phones have someone else on the
end of the line and then decipher what they have to say
in the cacophony of this room.
They must figure out a famous kafka quote and put it on this
form and hand it to the mysterious men at the end of
the room. >> I'm going in.
>> Oh, my god.
>> Out of hundreds of phones only eight had a recording of a
word and had to find these words to put together this
France kafka quote. >> We couldn't write anything
down. We just had to rely entirely on
our memory. So my approach was just
extremely methodical. Go through row by row and make
sure you don't miss a single phone.
>> This could take forever. >> Indycar is trying to pour
the perfect beer and I can't tell if they accomplished it or
not.
>> Two fingers? All right.
Let's be careful. Let's go.
>> Back to the ivory tower. >> The year copernicus
published... hit my knee whenever you hear an answer.
>> In 1543 Nicholas copernicus published his work, in what
year did copernicus publish his astronomical model?
>> 1543.
>> Is the earth round or flat?
>> Hmm. This is a trick question.
>> Do we have to debate?
>> I'm going to go for round. >> Congratulations.
You have passed the exam. >> Thank you.
>> Big brother, u-turned us and had to do both Doe tours.
>> We were doing well and had to make up for lost time.
>> Ready to do some kegs? >> That's two.
That's two. >> I will drink that beer.
>> Yeah?
>> Ok.
>> Ok.
Thank you.
>> Hope no one is drinking this.
It's nothing like a perfect beer without like a woman's
touch.
>> Be careful with it.
We need to nestle this baby.
>> Exit.
>> One for the road.
>> Here, let me lift it.
>> What did I just tell you?
>> It's ok. >> No.
It's not. >> Just listen.
>> You're one to talk.
>> Go get them. [Phones ringing]
>> Oh, my god.
This is crazy, dude.
>> I don't know what's going on there.
But it sounds like something I'm really glad I'm not there
right now.
>> It was a kafkaesque theme. The ringing was maddening.
>> Oh, yeah.
We got... we all got it here. >> Hopefully they're working
together. [Phones ringing]
>> Six of eight words and still waiting for two more words.
>> Never ring a phone again in my life.
>> That smile... >> yeah.
>> Woo hoo! >> Nice.
>> Thank you. >> Want to enjoy Prague much
more the first time I came. >> We're still doing this,
babe. Let's go.
>> I know.
It's just so... >> everybody is going to be
lost. >> Nobody knew where it was.
>> We still got a long game.
>> It... would have been done with the other one bye by now.
>> Just be careful. >> Conor.
>> It's easy to see but it's easy to see when it's coming
off.
>> That's nice for you to be able to see it.
That's cool.
>> Kafka. >> Which way did we come from?
>> Do you think it might be across the bridge, babe?
>> I don't know.
>> I like the confidence. But your confidence is a little
bit much sometimes. And your pessimism is a little
bit much sometimes.
>> You think it's on this, on the water?
>> I have no idea.
>> No idea. So lost.
>> I har... hear music. >> Is it the nam of the barge
maybe?
>> The name of a boat?
>> Full of beer among the emmitts... empties piled high
and restack them on these pallets.
>> I'm trying.
>> Not giving up until we get there, you know?
>> Got this.
[Phones ringing] >> What was that?
>> This is taking forever.
d >> I think it's that boat.
>> That's him.
>> I hear the music, too. And I told you.
>> Come object. It's over here.
...Come on. It's ofe here.
>> Where? >> The boat.
d >> thanks.
>> Good job.
>> Oh, that's the lifeguards. >>?
...Is it? >> Yeah.
>> Want to go out here? >> We definitely argue.
But in the end, we always get back together and like
whatever. Let's keep going.
>> We just got to keep pushing. >> Here's a full one.
>> Tap the keg. >> How do you feel about that?
>> Maybe they have a picture. >> Right there.
Right there.
>> And that's what this looks like.
>> Look what you d you're so good.
[Phones ringing] >> I feel like we have a super
competitive team, Jen and I.
We certainly don't give up. >> This is crazy.
>> Have all the words.
Just need to figure out where they go.
>> Thank you. >> So I have to fill out this
form. In a very precise manner.
>> And do you want to possibly work together?
Do you want to split up the room?
>> I went all the way through here.
Life and meaning. And of our love.
>> Ok.
>> That back corner.
>> That back corner.
>> Let's do it. >> I'm very used to working in
a partnership as a debater. So I was really, really happy
to have Daniel to work with.
>> Once we had all the words we had to figure out how to
arrange them to make the correct quote.
>> I have all the words.
Just need to figure out where they go.
>> Brewmaster.
This is for you.
>> Perfect. >> Hi.
>> Oh, my god.
>> Gross. >> Like butts in there.
>> Oh, my god.
>> He's got one.
>> Thank you! >> And there... you guys are
drunk and the spa.
>> Thank you. >> Oh, that's disgusting.
>> These guys.
>> Excuse me? >>...
>> river. >> Still a chance at the
roadblock.
There's music.
>> What did it say? >> I haven't heard a single
thing so far. >> That.
>> Have you gotten anything?
>> That.
>> That?
[ >> this feels like it might be
right.
>> Approved.
>> Oh, my gosh. Thank you so much.
>> The meaning of life is that it stops.
The quote is beautiful. And life has meaning and
purpose because it's finite.
And our experience on this race is finite as well.
Whether or not we win or we go home next leg.
>> Enjoy every moment.
>> Yeah.
>> Where are we going?
Phil: This postcard picture view of Prague can be seen from
letensky park and the river that weaves its way through the
city. The last team to check in here
may be eliminated.
>> Milos, we got it.
>> Thank you. >> That is wife meaning.
>> Stops. Stops.
>> Wife is the... >> we got all of them.
>> We have... >> life.
I wonder if wife is life. >> The meaning of life is the
stop? >> The meaning of life is that
it stops? >> I mean, that makes sense.
>> Yeah.
>> We're going to give it a shot.
Be good.
Be good.
Come on.
>> Oh, thank you. >> Woo!
>> All right. >> Thank you.
>> Milos, thank you so much.
>> We love you. >> Where are you, Phil?
>> This is beautiful. >> Look at this city.
>> Stunning.
>> Woo! >> Welcome, in Prague.
Czech Republic. >>
[laughter] >> Kristi and Jen I'm pleased
to tell you once again you are team number one.
And I have some great news for you as the winners of this leg
of the race, you have won a trip for two from travelocity
and you will be going to Perth, western Australia.
>> Cool.
>> You're going to stay five nights at como, the treasury,
overlooking cathedral square, you're going to take a
helicopter trip to wine country.
And enjoy snorkeling at rotnes island.
>> All six finished in the top three and that's what we want.
We want to be in the top three the whole way flew the race.
Phil: We had the head to head which was a big surprise.
And there are going to be more surprises.
We have six more legs and expect the unexpected.
Just be ready for anything. >> Oh, ok, I'm doing it.
>> Perfect. >> Oh, my god.
>> What... >> I'll do t
>> why do I always get the hard ones?
>> You can do this. >> The only problem, Alex is so
bad at accents or any sort of other language.
He's good at everything.
Except for words and other language.
>> What did it say? >> Do you have a clue for us?
>> Where did this clue come from?
[Phones ringing] >> I feel like I'm in high
school again. >> So frustrating.
>> How many words do you have?
>> I have five. >> I'll you call you back.
>> And I paired up with Jessica and we kind of worked together.
But then she said oh, here, let me take your gnome.
I don't know if it was intentional but I have that in
the back of my mind.
This is it. And then stops.
And I'm... >> another word.
>> Hey, Phil. >> There they are.
>> How awesome is this? Phil: How awesome is this, huh?
You guys have been the underdogs.
I mean, you've completely shifted your position in the
race from where you started.
>> We still can't even believe we're here.
>> Hey, guys! Phil: Wow.
Look at that. >> Fancy meeting you guys here.
>> Good job.
Good job Phil: You worked with Daniel
today.
>> We worked together at the roadblock.
And it worked pretty well.
Phil: I said it at the beginning of the race.
Be ready for anything.
You've already had a few surprises.
But the head to head competition.
>> Oh, yeah.
Phil: Didn't see that coming, right?
And there are still six legs of the race left.
>> Oh, man. >> This is the meaning of...
What's the rest?
>> The meaning of this. >> Is that it stops.
[Phones ringing] >> You do that the meaning of
this is that it stops?
>> I'm trying something but hold on.
>> It's completely different than this.
[Phones ringing d snoflte... d
>> What is the quote? >> The meaning of life is that
it stops. Not this.
Thank you.
>> The last thing I wanted was to give everyone all of my hard
work and then see them leave the roadblock before me.
So I didn't feel comfortable sharing the actual answer until
I was heading out that door with the clue in my hand.
>> Life... >> she said it wrong from the
beginning.
She told us wrong.
>> Off the course, everybody's very friendly.
>> But I think there's always one part of the race where
you're not going to be able to trust that person because
they're going to do whatever they can to continue racing.
>> Do I hate her? No.
Do I trust her? Hell no no.
>> Way to make allies.
>> It's getting intense and getting really competitive.
>> Lied to Brittany and I and giving us false words.
>> She fedures the wrong words so she makes sure she got it
first.
We know to use her next.
>> And who's that?
>> The violinists.
>> You can do it, tkouk it. >> Trevor has a great memory.
He is good at come up with different combinations of like
with... figures to remember words.
We do that a lot in music to memorize things we do.
So I think he will be able to knock this out.
>> We really, really need a taxi.
>> Can you call another taxi? >> Yes.
Our boy.
Dude, thank you so much.
>> Real hard to get a taxi in the suburbs.
>> Anywhere.
>> Imagine, we were the first flight and still almost last.
>> That taxi is coming? >> They're not here yet.
>> This is not good.
>> And really suck to go up against the violinists after we
u-turned them.
[Phones ringing d d
>> I think did I those. >> It stops with meaning.
>> There's a taxi.
Grab it.
>> Stop.
Comes down to whether or not a cab wants to pick us up.
>> We have to find a way to survive right now.
[Phones ringing d ]
>> I only got a couple of the words and guessed life because
kafka is pretty dark. And that's a pretty dark
sentiment.
>> Thank you very much, gentlemen.
>> Woo! >> Do you know this?
>> Here.
>> Moving much faster.
>> We're going to use mass trass transit.
We're new yorkers so hopefully we can figure it out.
Here we are.
We were u-turned. And now we're on a subway
hopefully in the right direction.
>> We really, really need a taxi.
>> Can you take us? >> Ok.
>> Best cab, you're saving our lives.
>> I took way too long to find a cab.
>> It's really close. >> There's a cab.
>> Taxi.
>> Let's go.
>> Glad we came here. >> We're going to the pit stop.
>> We'll make it there. >> Thank you.
>> Who is that? >> That is indy.
>> Oh you got to be kidding me. >> Where are they going?
>> Is that where we're going? >> No.
>> They were confused.
>> They look exhausted. >> You think so?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> You got the glue?
>> I do.
>> What does it say, babe?
>> Is that what it says on there?
Phil: You are team number four which means you did a little
bit of overtaking.
>> We're still in it. That's all that matters.
That's what I keep saying.
Phil: Come on in. >> Look at this.
Phil: Your first day of engagement.
What has it been like?
>> We made it here and ran around.
We're still together. And couldn't be...
>> and... >> and right now.
Phil: The newly engaged couple you are team number five.
>> That's better than i thought.
Phil: I did say at the beginning of this race that
there will be lots of surprises.
Anything and everything could happen.
>> I just want to get there.
Is that it? >> Looking for a viewpoint.
The viewpoint is going to be overlooking... this isn't it.
>> Thank you. >> Let's run together, yeah.
>> I'm going to ask.
>> Ok.
>> Have you seen any viewpoints?
No? I think those kids said we were
going the wrong way and that's why they were laughing.
>> A viewpoint, says the clue.
>> Nothing yet. >> No.
>> That sucks.
We can... completely overshot it in the cab.
>> Got to go up a hill. >> Come on.
>> Let's go this way. >> Where is the map?
Phil: Cody and Jessica, you are team number six.
Still in the race.
You've made it now halfway through through "the amazing
race."
And the next leg be ready for anything.
And perhaps you made a good choice today.
>> I think everyone was afraid to throw their first punch
today with the u-turn and we set the tone on that.
Phil: Having come from "big brother" when the stakes are
high, you got to do what you got to do.
>> Absolutely.
>> We're just trying to claw our way back to the top.
And sure we're not in this position anymore.
>> I don't know if it's a bad thing, though.
Maybe the other teams won't see us as that strong and when the
next u-turn comes they may not use it against us.
>> One can happen.
>> Hey, hey, hey. Phil: Take in the view.
Trevor and Chris, I am sorry to tell you that you are the last
team to arrive. And you have been eliminated
from the race.
You were u-turned today a little irony I understand.
>> We were under the watchful gaze after statue of dvorak who
is a very famous romantic classical composer.
We play the American quartet actually in our concert
repertoire. >> Every time we play that now
we'll have a little memory of Prague and getting u-turned.
>> If we have to go out I would rather it be because of a
u-turn instead of something that we did terribly wrong.
>> We gave it our best efforts despite what was thrown at us.
And I'm just so glad that we had this opportunity to do this
together like how often do you get to run around the world
with your friend and... >> I hate him so much.
And I'm going to continue to hate him for so long.
>> Hey! d
Phil: Stay tuned to scenes from our next episode.
Phil: Next on a two-hour "the amazing race" in Zimbabwe,
emotions run high.
>> I don't think she likes you. >> I don't like her.
Phil: As they face another double ufflet turn.
>> You get u-turned now you're probably done.
Phil: For the first time in "the amazing race" history you
are going to be swapping partners.
>> Oh, my goodness. Phil: Oh, my god.
