don't hear every day. It's hairy crab season in Hong

Kong. Teams must go to work like the

local fishermen do and secure a basket of hairy crabs to the

fish market.

Wrangling these uncooperative crustaceans will be a challenge

for obvious reasons.

And just to ramp things up teams will need to prepare 50

crabs in a typhoon. You could call this detour a

game of Chinese whispers. Commonly known as telephone in

the United States.

Here in this seafood restaurant, one team member

will take an order in cantonese.

And then relay the order to their teammate in the kitchen

who must decide the correct dish.

When the customers get what they want, teams will get what

they want.

Their next clue.

they'll unlock the address of the next pit stop.

And just to make it harder, each briefcase has its own

unique combination of the three numbers.

Phil: The bay bridge is lit by an art installation called the

bay lights. Created by Leo villarreal wort

working with the creative art organization illunina in the

center is an Anchorage that has more concrete than New York's

empire state building and larger than the great pyramid

of geza and will serve as the highest ascendor climb in the

history of "the amazing race."

Starting at the base teams will use in an attempt to pull

themselves over 200 feet to the top of the Anchorage.

Once they have completed the 20-story climb, they'll go

inside the Anchorage to face what is surely the world's most

terrifying freefall.

As they jump into the pitch black abyss of this awe

awe-inspiring structure.

If they get out alive, they can pick up a clue, reunite with

their partner and continue racing.

Phil: This is the u.S.S. Hornet, a battle-tested

aircraft carrier that's survived 59 attacks during

world war ii. She was also the primary

recovery ship for NASA's Apollo 11 mission when man landed on

today, the u.S.S. Hornet will serve as the finish line for

season 30 of "the amazing race."

But first, teams have to build a plane at the other end of the

runway. First, they'll have to search

the hornet for 12 pieces of a plane which are spread out

among more than a thousand apartments over seven decks and

a length of nearly 900 feet.

Then assemble it so all 12 legs of the race are represented by

symbols like this.

It will be this season's most difficult test of both physical

endurance as well as mental strength.

The first team to complete building their plane and land

on the mat will win $1 million and "the amazing race."

And we have to search the entire ship for 12 different

parts.

Seriously, you could get lost in this thing left and right.

This thing is like a maze.

- This is crazy. - Ok.

I turn around and he pulls a propeller out of his butt.

My brain is already assembling the plane.

And then you have to find the appropriate like thing for

entire race and everything that we have worked so hard for was

As fast as you can. - I don't know where the heck

all these pieces go.

When there's far more pieces. - The first thing I noticed we

had 12 pieces of this plane.

And as soon as I got up here, i was like oh, ok.

There's only six slots. You only need to put six pieces

on this plane.

So there's duplicates of things.

And you have to find the right combination.

Because we're looking for 12 images that represented

different legs of the race. And you had to have each leg

represented somewhere on your plane.

- Oh, I get it.

I get it. - That could be Prague.

- It was hard because there were some pictures that were at

the same on one part as other parts.

And you really just had to be really meticulous and pay

attention.

Because you could easily like put two countries on the plane

at the same time. - This is Prague.

- Neck and neck with x games of course.

They are the most consistent team throughout this rares.

And sure enough, we showed up at the same time with all 12

parts.

This is going to come down to minutes with x games.

If not seconds. - I think we should take this

big piece in both of our hands and then put... what...

- Stuff on it? - Exactly.

- Ok.

I know how this is going to work with the stairs.

We need to have one photo that represents each leg of the

race. So only six of these parts.

And race to the finish line.

I'm feeling good. Jen versus Jess.

I like jes' odds. - Thailand.

- Thailand, Zimbabwe.

And then this is Bahrain. - This was the last task.

The $1 million was on the line. And I have been studying like

everything that we've done thus far in the race.

But the pictures were ditch.

- What is this?

- I don't know what that is. - Oh, my god.

Crazy when the finish line is in sight.

And you're watching a teammate do something you just can't

- Really wish I could write things down.

pieces that we found on the ship which meant we had extra

pieces. So it's possible for you to

have two stickers representing one leg of the race.

And then no stickers representing some other leg.

try and solve.

were. But I feel like I tried to

approach these things methodically.

And at that point, the only thing to do was to try

different combinations to get through all of the possible

combinations for the unknown stickers.

wrong I went back to the drawing board and didn't give

You were kind of speechless.

- I can't believe it.

Phil: Seriously, Cody, your teammate came through for you

in the end. - Absolutely.

Jessica was the foundation for my strength throughout this

entire thing. I wouldn't have been able to do

anything without her. Everything that I've ever felt

and known about Jessica is just validated throughout this

entire experience.

And running the amazing rice made me realize how many

blessings I have in life. Now we have a foundation as far

as money goes to set up a family for ourselves.

And I'm just glad I got to do it with the love of my life.

- The future looks really bright.

And I'm really excited. - We will be together for a

long, long time.

- Yeah.

- That's for sure. - We're not going anywhere.

I said at the beginning that this would be the most

competitive cast that we've ever had.

And look how close this finish was.

And we're talking minutes.

It was really close.

little bit disappointed about second place.

But I'm so proud of us for making it this way.

And we'll be ok.

And we know how to take away the wonderful memories and all

of the positives that you can get from an experience.

Even if you don't get the result that you hoped for.

process.

- Horrible.

- That was a really hard moment.

And I just... I feel like I let her down.

I know it's hard to... it's hard to think about right now.

[Applause] It's pretty unbelievable that

you fend on the podium every single leg of this race.

- We never finished below third on this race.

It's going to take a little bit to get over what happened

tonight.

But yeah. When we get a little further

away from the race, I think we'll be able to look back and

feel really good about it and be really proud.

And it was a really special experience.

- An amazing journey.

- It was truly an amazing experience to run this race.

And still very grateful for the opportunity.

We loved every minute of it.

I think one of the best things that we got out of the race was

just a set of really incredible experiences.

So those are all going to turn into really wonderful memories

that we'll be able to share together for the rest of our

lives.

- My daughter gets to see this when she gets to see her dad

win.

And, you know, I want to show her how to win and finally I

was able to do that.
