=Episode 3=

The longer I spend with you, the more I find you

a fascinating person.

It's hard to let go.

Too bad I belong to someone else.

I don't interfere with others' women.

But a widow is fine.

Come on, over here.

Have a seat.

Drink up.

Manager.

Sir?

Prepare a room for that gentleman.

Also, bring some medicine to Room No. 1.

Sure.

Hey,

would you mind sharing a table?

I'm a Qi from Xuan Clan.

I'm about to go trade in Yannan.

May I ask who you are?

What a coincidence.

I'm He Sang, chief of the He caravan.

We're also from Xuan.

You two looked familiar,

so I took the liberty to chat.

I didn't expect that we're all from Xuan.

No need to stand on ceremony.

Waiter,

bring a set of tableware.

When traveling, we should help each other.

Especially since we are all from Xuan.

But with your build,

you don't look like the Beixuan people.

Why are you alone?

Where are your companions?

My small build often invites trouble.

When we passed through the Uncontrollable Canyon,

bandits attacked and robbed us.

If my companions hadn't risked their lives to save me,

I wouldn't have made it to today.

Though Yao City

is located in the Uncontrollable,

it's close to Beixuan's Liangzhou.

There are many people from Beixuan.

The Xuan Leader is Beixuan's Protector.

He won't stand to see his people being bullied.

Besides, you're one of us from Xuan.

How could I face the clan now?

I still want to go to Yannan,

at least to pay for my brothers' funeral.

I think

it's better for you to return to Xuan first.

By the way, where are your documents?

Documents?

Those bandits

took everything from me.

My identity papers are long gone.

Then you're in trouble.

Without your identity papers, you can't even leave here.

To pass through Beixuan passes,

you need identity papers

with the Leader's seal.

Is there no other way?

Unless...

But that's impossible.

Unless you have the Leader's handwritten order.

That's too difficult.

Simply impossible.

General, let me help you.

Thank you.

How are your injuries?

Thank you for your concern.

They're almost healed.

In that case,

we should settle the debts

between us in the desert.

It's about time.

I bandaged your wounds,

helped you out of the desert,

saved your life from a wolf pack,

and now I'm still cleaning your wounds.

How do you plan to repay me?

You trapped me in the quicksand.

How should you pay for this?

But I also saved your life from the quicksand.

Then you pushed me into the Death Desert.

If I could control the storm,

your army would've been destroyed

in the battle at the Uncontrollable Canyon.

Do you talk to your young master like this?

You're about to become the Wolf Lord of the Five Clans.

You certainly wouldn't mind.

You're quite concerned about this.

You may not know this.

During my meal,

I noticed that the people near the Uncontrollable

are all betting on this.

I also placed a big bet on you.

I wagered all the money

I brought on you.

Don't make me lose it.

So, you think I will win.

You're renowned throughout the world,

and you're kind and compassionate.

Of course, I hope you win.

As expected of someone raised by merchants.

Your attitude shifts so quickly.

Thank you for the compliment.

Alright, the wound is bandaged.

Please enjoy your meal.

I'll leave now.

Young Master,

I've found out

that Xuan Lie is staying at Guangxuan Inn.

How many people are with him?

Only He Jiyao

(Xi Lin, Xi's Deputy General) and a young man.

I've never seen him before.

Xuan Lie never brings strangers with him.

This person must be very important to him.

It doesn't matter.

When it's past the Zi hour,

they will have only souls left.

Xuan Lie being alone is a great opportunity.

Make sure to kill him this time.

He cannot leave Yao City alive.

Luo Qi and Xuanyu Army are not far from here.

They'll surely come to his aid.

Send someone to hold them off,

so they won't ruin our plan.

Understood.

Deputy Luo,

last night, he came to kill those smuggling weapons.

Realizing it was a trap,

he poisoned himself to death.

A trained Death Warrior.

Without the young master here,

how should we handle this?

Have someone draw the tattoo first.

Deputy Luo,

Deputy He sent a message.

(Lead the army to Yao City at once.)

It seems He Jiyao found the young master.

Order everyone

to pack up immediately.

We are heading to Yao City.

Needlework!

Fine needlework!

Sir, would you like to look at some needlework?

It's not as exquisite as those from Yannan,

but it has its own charm.

Do you like them?

Even if I do, I can only look at it.

I'm penniless now.

I can buy it for you.

Young Master,

something's off with the merchant across.

They might be from Xi.

I know.

Don't raise the alarm yet.

Where is he?

Find him.

Needlework!

(Various Raw Stones)

Sir, feel free to look at anything you need.

I'd like to buy some raw stones.

These are the best raw stones from the Uncontrollable.

Take your time, sir.

Since you have this fragrant jade,

you can choose anything from my stall.

Ma'am, you're not being honest.

I only want the best raw stones.

Don't try to fool me with inferior goods.

These are all raw stones from Mount Guan,

with very high purity.

They can be used for jewelry or tools.

You can only find them in Yao City.

The hardness is off.

Is this all the stock you have?

Yao City is close to Liangzhou,

rich in minerals.

You can get as many as you want.

If what's on the shelf isn't enough,

you can place an order with a deposit.

If I give you more fragrant jade,

could you take me to see those mines?

The mines of Yao City are in Beixuan.

They're controlled by the Beixuan people

and heavily guarded.

We only dare to pick up some rubble around the outskirts.

Ma'am,

do you have any stones harder than these?

The hardest stones

are black iron crystals.

Seeing that you're an expert,

I'll tell you the truth.

The black iron crystal mines are said to be in Beixuan,

but they haven't been seen in hundreds of years.

They're impossible to get.

Sir,

you'd better not waste your effort.

Thank you.

- Chase! - Young Master,

it's the Xi scout from earlier.

Step aside.

Acting guilty, huh?

Tell me.

Where did you take him?

I don't know what you're talking about.

Acting tough, huh?

Xi Changkun sent you, didn't he?

It was Mr. Xi Mo.

Tell me. Where did you take him?

General.

Where have you gone?

I turned around and couldn't see you,

so I've been searching for you.

It's okay. Let's head back.

Stay close.

Young Master,

the interception failed. Luo Qi broke through

and is now heading to Yao City.

Act tonight.

As long as they can't reach Yao City tonight,

it won't be a failure.

Understood.

Don't approach me from behind again.

When I saw you in the street,

I noticed the injury on your back,

so I asked the manager for some medicine

to help you with it.

Though you're dressed as a man,

you're still a young lady.

In some occasions, discretion is needed.

I only meant well.

The young master often reminds me

not to be so particular.

If you feel uncomfortable,

I'll take my leave.

I'll leave the medicine here.

(Heavenly Room No. 2)

Miss Qi Luo, since when did you

become a thief?

I was just curious

about why you put the inn's signboard

in the room.

I only took it out and hung it up for you.

In that case,

I've wronged you.

It's alright.

Young Master, we spotted a large group of disguised soldiers outside the city.

It looks like Xi Changkun is making a move.

Xi Mo should've surrounded Yao City by now.

We can't get out.

What should we do?

Luo Qi is still on his way.

With just a few of us,

we can't match their strength.

I have a plan for this.

Just try your best to protect Qi Luo.

(Yao City)

The bandits are here!

Don't panic, everyone.

Just give them the money and it will be fine.

Follow me.

Hurry, hurry!

Hurry, hurry, keep up!

Keep up!

- They're here! - This way.

(Guangxuan Inn)

Hurry!

Don't move!

Don't move!

They're coming for you?

Help me out.

This is another deal.

What do you have for me?

Working with me won't make you lose.

No one can make me lose if I'm working with them.

As long as it doesn't harm Beixuan,

choose whatever you want.

Alright.

All the men, squat down.

The women, go outside.

Hurry up!

- Hurry up! - Hurry!

- Hurry! - Quickly!

- Hurry! - Hurry up!

You guys go upstairs and take a look.

- Yes. - Yes.

Young Master,

the front and back doors of the inn are surrounded.

The four city gates have been guarded.

Xuan Lie has no way to escape.

What about Luo Zhizhou, Luo Leader,

who is close to Xuan Lie?

Have you guarded his old house in Yao City?

Luo Zhizhou is in the Royal City now,

and his old house is empty.

We can't neglect there.

Send someone to watch over it.

Xuan Lie ruined our weapon trade in the Uncontrollable.

This time, he must die without redemption.

Once Xuan Lie is dead,

no one will dare to touch the case from 12 years ago.

Father will surely praise me.

Let's go take a look.

So, you're Xuan Lie.

Guys, attack!

Young Master.

(Take this token and go)

(to the Luos' old house in Willow Alley to find Luo Zhizhou.)

(He grew up with me.)

(He'll surely come to save me.)

(I'll hold them off and buy you some time.)

(Luo Residence)

(Changqing Tower)

(Xuan)

Aren't you afraid I'll run away with the token?

In the desert, you swore you wouldn't abandon me.

Even if you wanted to escape,

you saved me as you promised.

I trust you, and I'm willing to take the risk.

Of course,

if I've misjudged you,

and you want to avenge your caravan,

I have nothing to say.

(Should I save him or not?)

(Fine, let fate decide.)

If it's an even number, I'll go.

If not, I won't go.

One, two, three, four.

This way, hurry!

This way!

Young Master, what should we do now?

I've sent Qi Luo to find Zhizhou.

His troop will be here soon.

Isn't Mr. Luo in the Royal City?

During these days every year,

he secretly comes to pay respects to his mother.

But Miss Qi Luo is from Yannan.

What if she leaves with the token?

(Luo Residence) Is there anyone?

Please give me some food.

It's nothing, just a beggar.

He Jiyao.

He Jiyao.

Hang on.

(Luo Residence)

Is there anyone?

Who's outside?

Please, help me out.

I haven't eaten in days.

(Xuan)

(Luo Zhizhou, Luo Leader, Beixuan)

(Xuan)

Set the fire.

Young Master,

Xuan Lie is already a fish in the net.

Qi Luo and Mr. Luo might not come in time.

Young Master, are we...

Don't worry.

I won't let you die so young.

Luo Zhizhou.

How did he get here?

Everyone, go up and support.

- Yes. - Yes.

Xuan Lie!

Xuan Lie! Xuan Lie!

Kill them!

I have an idea.

Why is there a woman here?

She's the one who went to inform Luo Zhizhou?

Yes.

Doesn't Xuan Lie only have He Jiyao

and that Yannan boy with him?

When did a woman appear?

Oh, no. She's going to ring the bell and alert everyone.

It's on fire!

Go put out the fire!

It's on fire! Go put it out!

Young Master,

the commoners are out to help with the fire.

Should we kill a few of them

to scare them back?

We're disguised as bandits

to distance Xuan Lie's death

from our Xi Clan.

Kill commoners?

Do you want to make things worse?

Young Master, how considerate of you.

I'll head to Liangzhou to meet with Father first.

You investigate her background.

Yes.

Lie!

Retreat!

Lie!

Xuan Lie.

Xuan Lie.

Lift them out first!

Don't touch my friend!

You little brat, move aside!

Move aside!

Stop!

Don't be afraid.

Is that your friend?

I'll help you bury him.

This is my first time forging a sword.

It's also my second work.

This sword is very sharp and cuts through iron like mud.

I want you to have it.

Young Master, this...

Once you accept my sword, you work for me now.

Remember that.

What are you doing?

What are you planning to do? Running away, huh?

Go ahead, run.

Run then.

If you don't want to die, behave yourself.

We gave him half a bottle of softening potion.

I didn't expect him to recover so quickly.

This kid's a tough one.

Is it okay for us to sell him like this?

This is the Uncontrollable, after all.

No one reports or investigates.

His past doesn't matter.

Besides, he's from Yannan.

Let me tell you.

This morning, Ms. Tan from the stockade came to inspect the goods.

She gave this price.

You'd better stay alert tonight.

Double the amount of drug.

Tomorrow, nothing can go wrong.

(Border Stockade)

Miss, do you want to buy water?

(Water) One qian per bowl.

One qian per bowl.

Miss.

Everyone,

come and take a look!

We have fresh stock today!

All top-quality goods!

Starting price only ten wen.

Highest bid wins!

Highest bid wins!

Come here!

What do you think?

You can take him away if you can afford him.

I bid ten qian.

15.

I bid 20.

Any higher than 20?

- Anyone? - I bid 25.

25 once.

25 twice.

- 25... - 50.

For this girl?

I want him.

Go away.

Come here.

That's more like it.

I bid 300.

- 350. - 400.

- 450. - 500.

500 once.

500...

Go away. Go away.

Stop causing trouble here.

How can you buy a man with only 50?

500 twice.

- 500... - I'm talking about gold.

Gold.

This...

How generous of her.

Gold once, twice, three times.

Sold!

Take him away.

Where did this girl come from?

How dare you compete with me?

Do you want to buy him

because he's good-looking too?

So what if it is?

50 gold.

He's already been disfigured.

Do you still want him?

- You... - What?

Let's go.

Staying by my side

is much better than being humiliated here.

Don't worry.

I'm not a bad person.

Your eyes are so beautiful.

I'll treat you very well.

Does it hurt?

Why don't you cry out?

Miss, he's shy and fierce.

He needs proper training.

You're fierce and won't cry out, huh?

I thought my whip technique had deteriorated

and failed Lie's teachings.

(Luo Residence)

There are no survivors.

Xi Clan withdrew their troops too cleanly this time.

They must have been prepared.

Xi Changkun is no fool.

You came to Yao City only to pay respects,

so you didn't bring much force.

I didn't expect to catch anything on Xi Clan.

It was already a pleasant surprise that Qi Luo came back to rescue me.

You're talking about Miss Qi Luo, right?

She truly is a remarkable woman.

She made do with what was around her, drew a bow,

and shot down dozens of Xi Clan archers.

And she even thought of ringing the bell

to force Xi Mo to retreat.

It's a pity she's a woman.

If she were a man, she'd be a pillar of society.

Her talents far exceed many men's.

This is the first time I've seen you

praise a woman like this.

I just think she's different from other women.

She's smart, tough,

harsh on others,

but even harsher on herself.

She's cunning and wise,

like both foxes and wolves,

making people curious about her.

Lie,

something's off with you.

Anyway, I've asked the wet nurse

to take care of your fox.

You rest for now.

Later, I'll bring her to see you.

Miss, you're ready?

Please sit down and have some snacks.

Sure.

Sit.

You look great.

Miss, you may not know this,

but our young master has never been close to any young lady.

Let alone bring a young lady to this old house.

Besides us old women,

- there isn't any young lady here. - Thank you.

That just shows how much

the young master values you.

The last time I saw you, I really thought you were a young man.

I didn't expect you to be

such a beautiful young lady.

- I... - Stop teasing her.

Miss,

my young master is eight chi tall,

extremely handsome,

skilled in both literary and martial arts,

and has great wealth

and lands and houses aplenty.

What's more, he has no elderly parents,

and no concubines or illegitimate kids.

When you're here,

there's no need to worry

about complicated relationships with sisters-in-law.

I won't hide it from you, Miss.

Our young master is still

a virgin at his age.

Such a good man is hard to find.

I think you and her young master

would make a perfect match.

Who is your young master?

What are you talking about?

Young Master, you're back.

Mr. Luo really cares for this young lady.

Ms. Zhang,

it seems good things are near for your family.

Let's go now.

You stay with the young lady.

Young Master,

I think this young lady is a good match for you.

She'll surely bear us a younger master one day.

You must seize the opportunity.

She's Lie's honored guest.

Nanny, don't say such things.

Let's go.

My wet nurse's been living here for a long time

with sharp eyes.

She's seen many travelers from everywhere.

Miss Qi,

do you still wish to pretend to be a man before them?

Being in a foreign land and traveling the world,

it's more convenient to present myself as a man

to avoid unnecessary trouble.

I'm here on someone's request to check on you.

Since you haven't settled in yet,

I'll leave you to it for now.

Has the general woken up?

He's awake, but he fell back asleep.

Don't worry.

Once you've all rested,

I'll take you to see him.

Alright.

Are you seeking a reward?

You don't need to worry.

Lie is generous with rewards.

No.

Mr. Luo,

could you prepare men's clothes for me?

Alright, I'll arrange that right away.

(My brother, by order of the King,)

(is in charge of exploration within Beixuan.)

A few days ago, I received his letter,

saying they discovered a new mine.

It's called black...

Black iron crystal.

Yes, black iron crystal.

My brother said they needed people

to oversee the exploration.

Where is the mine located?

My brother is always secretive

about the exploration.

If you want to know the truth,

I can write a letter home and ask.

(Xuan Lie and his deputy's conversation these days)

(shouldn't be false.)

(The black iron crystal mine has appeared in Beixuan.)

(Without pass documents,)

(I can only rely on Xuan Lie to enter Beixuan now.)
