=Episode 2=

General,

judging by the pulse,

she should be a woman, right?

Just do your job.

No unnecessary questions.

It's toxic heat due to regional differences,

unsuitable climate,

and an unhealed wound.

If the wound isn't treated soon,

it may fester and endanger her life.

There are no women in the camp.

General, please take care of it.

I thought you were an honorable man,

but it turns out you're a rogue taking advantage of others' weakness.

Do you think I need to take advantage of your weakness?

Since you're awake, treat your own wound.

Tonight, lead a team to the canyon

and properly bury

the Jun caravan.

Yes, Young Master.

We'll set off for Xixiang tomorrow.

We haven't found the mastermind behind the smuggling.

De Lihan will stay with five light cavalrymen

to lure the enemy.

Young Master,

the Wolf Lord Election is imminent.

We should hurry back to Liangzhou

and Royal City to prepare.

Why are we going to Xixiang?

She said Jun Feifan was in Xixiang,

and she could help us find him.

Young Master,

didn't you say her words can't be trusted?

Finding Jun Feifan is tied to my parents' case.

Whether it's true or not,

we must go.

Young Master, everything is ready.

We can depart at any time.

Good.

Miss Qi Luo,

we're leaving.

General,

my wounds are too severe.

Could you prepare a carriage for me?

What trick are you up to now?

General, you're overthinking.

I'm only worried about delaying our trip.

With so many capable officers under your command,

do you really think I can escape?

No one escapes under my watch,

except through death.

Luo Qi.

Young Master.

Prepare a carriage.

Yes, I'm on it now.

(The river ahead)

(is the best place for escape.)

(I said I needed to clean my wound,)

(and he shamelessly followed me.)

(If I miss this chance,)

(it'll be hard to find another excuse to escape.)

(I need a plan to make him lower his guard.)

General,

I need to undress to clean my wound.

Could you step aside?

Stop right there.

This vast expanse

is the perfect place for you

to meet your end, General.

Dying here with you

would truly be fitting.

You can choose to live or die.

You're insane.

Why hasn't the young master returned?

Deputy Luo,

the young master and that man

have been in the woods for a long time.

Should we send someone to check?

Just ahead lies the Death Desert.

What?

The Death Desert?

You could've gotten out on your own,

but you had to drag me down.

I'm still kinder than you.

What are you doing?

It's signal flare.

Return to the Royal City tonight,

find Deputy He at the Annexe,

and have him report this to the King.

Yes.

(Young Master,)

(please stay safe and sound.)

You said you'd take me to Jun Feifan.

Why the sudden change of your mind?

Don't you think that's a ridiculous question?

Don't you know people are born fickle?

I thought the Juns valued keeping their word.

I'm only half a Jun.

So, you've been lying to me all along.

Jun Feifan isn't in Xixiang.

Now that things have come to this,

there's no need to lie anymore.

I have no idea

where Mr. Feifan is.

When Mr. Feifan left,

he said he was going to find fragrant jade.

He gave me the trade token

and told me to impersonate him on this trip.

It's just my bad luck

to have run into you.

Where is he?

How should I know?

Which part of your words

is true and which part is false?

What do you think?

It's okay.

Once we leave the Death Desert,

we'll settle this properly.

Rest for a while.

It's Jiji grass.

Ahead...

There must be a water source ahead.

(Xuanwu Palace)

Lie has gone missing?

(Xuan Xu, King of Beixuan)

The young master and that Yannan man

vanished together in the Death Desert.

(He Jiyao, Xuan Deputy General) With the Election near,

Luo Qi feared the situation might change,

so he asked me to inform you first.

He will lead Twelve Light Cavalry

to continue searching for the young master.

What did you say?

Lie is missing?

Princess.

(Xuan Qingkou, Princess of Beixuan)

Xu,

Lie is the God of War of Beixuan.

He's the most powerful person.

How could he vanish without reason?

With the Wolf Lord Election near,

Lie's disappearance will inevitably

stir up trouble among the other clans.

Take a few personal guards at once

and assist Luo Qi in a secret search.

Remember: Keep it discreet.

Understood.

Issue my order:

Xuan Lie shall be on a private mission for me.

He shall set out immediately.

I want to go too.

Nonsense.

The Uncontrollable is a mix of chaos

beyond the reach of law.

How can a noble lady like you

go to such a place?

Lie once saved my life.

Now that he's missing,

I should go find him.

If you go along,

he'll be distracted taking care of you.

How will he search for him then?

(Nobody can stop me)

(from doing what I've decided to do.)

(Adherence to Duties) Xuan Lie discovered

the weapons we smuggled?

And Xi Da was captured?

Father, please don't be mad.

(Xi Mo, Young Master of the Xi, Beixuan) We have Xi Da's family.

He wouldn't dare betray us.

Only the dead can be trusted.

(Xi Changkun, Xi Leader, Beixuan) Have Death Warriors kill him.

Xuan Lie mustn't get any evidence.

Yes.

Father,

city guards report

that after He Jiyao received a message from Luo Qi's confidant,

he entered the palace overnight.

Royal spies also confirmed

that Xuan Lie appears to be missing in the Death Desert.

Missing?

If Xuan Lie dies,

who among the remaining clans

could challenge you for the position of Wolf Lord?

If that's true,

it's naturally a good thing.

Father,

I'll station people at all key routes

from the Uncontrollable to Liangzhou.

Even if Xuan Lie escapes the Death Desert,

he'll never leave the Uncontrollable alive.

Good idea.

Though Xuan Lie has gone missing,

Xi Da must still be killed.

I'll head to Liangzhou first

and wait for your good news.

Rest assured, Father.

Miss Qi Luo, you're up.

Why are you haunting me like a ghost?

If I hadn't picked you up in time,

you'd already be a dried corpse

or dragged off and eaten

by wolves.

What?

You won't even say thank you?

You didn't save me

just to hear a thank you, right?

Then why?

Your leg is injured, and you can't move freely.

You have to work with me

to leave this desert.

Even if both my legs were crippled,

I could still make it out.

Yes.

I know you're remarkable

and renowned throughout the land.

But with the Wolf Lord Election near,

disappearing for too long

might not work in your favor.

I might as well kill you now

and reclaim the Wolf Lord position later.

I don't mind dying,

but I'd hate to drag you down with me.

If your leg wound isn't treated,

it'll fester, rot, and require amputation.

Forget about saving your leg.

You won't survive the night.

Will you untie me now?

I swear on the life as a Jun maid

that I won't leave you stranded again.

Otherwise, may I be struck by lightning.

It seems the only one you care about is Jun Feifan.

I swear on Mr. Jun Feifan's life

that if I try to escape again,

may Jun Feifan die dismembered and exposed in the wild,

and may I never win his heart.

It seems this time,

Miss Qi Luo has finally faced reality.

A weak woman,

with neither water nor food,

needs to escape after she leaves the desert.

Your leg wound is severe.

We must leave the desert asap.

It's just a small wound.

Nothing worth mentioning.

Save it.

This is all the water we have.

I saw some Jiji grass today.

There should be water nearby.

I'll look for it tomorrow.

I've never met a woman like you.

Your first reaction to a problem is how to solve it,

not to complain.

Why not establish your household?

With your wit and talent,

if you worked hard,

you could achieve more than Jun Feifan.

I'm just a woman.

Mr. Feifan is a once-in-a-generation business genius.

How could I ever surpass him?

Nonsense.

You're unconfident.

This isn't like you.

We've only just met,

yet you act like you know me so well.

Though it's only been a few days,

I know you aren't a parasitic vine.

In Yannan, tradition dictates

that women can't establish a household

nor hold power in business.

Then come to Beixuan.

In the Xuan Clan,

as long as you have talent,

your gender won't matter.

Are you trying to fool me like a child?

Yannan and Beixuan are like fire and water.

If I went to Beixuan,

I'd have no place to stand.

When Yannan belongs to Beixuan,

I'll ensure that every talented person

has a chance to shine.

Father, I heard from Uncle Ling

that Feifan and the caravan went missing in the Uncontrollable.

Impossible.

Feifan's been resourceful since childhood,

and Qimin is with him.

They'll be fine.

I'll take people there to find her right away.

Stop.

The Uncontrollable is extremely dangerous.

How can you, a woman, go there?

Jiangjuan,

Father is right.

You are just a weak woman.

You mustn't take such a risk alone.

Are we supposed to sit by and do nothing?

Searching must be done quietly.

Besides, the business conference is imminent.

If certain people take advantage of this,

it could harm Feifan and our family.

Why go to war?

To ensure there will be no wars,

so our descendants can live in peace.

If we stop fighting now,

won't there be peace in the world?

You're oversimplifying things.

Only a strong nation has the power to stop wars.

Yannan has never thought of invading other nations.

Xixiang is weak

and wouldn't dare stir up trouble.

It's only Beixuan,

bloodthirsty and cruel,

that could come up with such a lame excuse.

Bloodthirsty and cruel?

So, this is how you see Beixuan.

Isn't it true?

To you,

Yannan people must seem loathsome too.

(In Memory; Late Father; Late Mother)

No matter what you think,

in today's world,

using war to stop killing

is the best way to maintain peace.

Protecting Beixuan is my duty.

I won't allow anything to endanger it.

You'll slaughter commoners for this.

No one likes killing.

But without power,

however you call out,

even if it's for justice,

few will heed you.

With absolute strength,

no matter the schemes and plots,

the strong will crush them with ease.

General, put your doctrine

of strength aside for now.

The priority is figuring out

how to leave this desert.

(What kind of person is he?)

(Why is he looking for Jun Feifan?)

(His forehead is so hot.)

(It seems his wound has worsened.)

Without me,

you can't get out of this Death Desert.

If you don't believe me, have a try.

You've tried?

You can't leave?

Didn't we agree to leave this desert together?

Aren't you afraid?

Since you've returned,

I'll trust you this once.

This cactus can cool heat and detoxify.

Bear with it.

(Yao City)

What's inside?

Nothing.

You there, stop. Don't run.

Come in.

Deputy He,

a scout brings urgent news:

Last night, someone spotted

a Xuanyu Army signal flare.

Where?

On the northwestern edge of the Death Desert.

I'll distract them. You go.

Didn't we agree to escape together?

At least one of us should survive.

Now go.

Why are you back?

The terrain here is complicated.

I wouldn't get far anyway.

It's better to work together

and fight for a chance.

Watch out!

It's the young master.

We've finally found him.

Young Master.

(Making use of the surroundings.)

(The principle is similar to the Three-Arrow Crossbow.)

(Who exactly are you?)

(Grand Chancellor's Mansion) How could Feifan go missing?

I told him

the trade route was dangerous.

(Song Wei, Grand Chancellor) I tried to stop him,

but he insisted.

And now,

he's vanished halfway through.

The Uncontrollable is a chaotic place,

beyond the control of any nation.

I wonder if Feifan

is safe there.

So,

I want to ask you for help in finding Feifan.

What are you doing?

Feifan worked tirelessly to develop

the Yannan economy.

Now that he's gone missing,

I will try my best to search for him.

This...

Are you insulting me?

Grand Chancellor, this...

Zheng Yuan.

Grand Chancellor.

(Zheng Yuan, Song Wei's butler, Yannan)

Send some capable people to the Uncontrollable.

We must find Jun Feifan.

Remember:

Keep it secret.

I just passed off inferior goods

at a higher price,

and now Uncle wants me to go door-to-door for compensation.

Father, where does that leave my face

as Mr. Yujue?

(Jun Chengsong, second branch head) Your uncle has shown mercy.

If Jun Feifan were here...

Jun Feifan?

(Jun Yujue, eldest son) I don't think he'd come back.

But son,

we can't make conclusions too soon.

After all, he's only missing.

We don't know if he's dead or alive.

The bandits in the Uncontrollable

took my money.

So, they'll get the job done.

Once it's done, the position of Jun Manager

will be ours to claim.

Son,

the show is about to start.

Young Master,

I'll change Mr. Qi's clothes.

No need. Leave them here.

Shouldn't you be in the Royal City?

How did you end up here?

Luo Qi sent people to the Royal City overnight with a message.

Once I received the news,

I left the city right away to search for you.

When I arrived in Yao City,

I saw the signal flare

and rushed over immediately.

The King was worried about alerting other clans,

so he sent just me

and a few elite soldiers to find you.

The Wolf Lord Election is imminent.

All clans are likely watching your movements,

especially Xi Changkun.

He's set on becoming the next Wolf Lord.

I don't think your disappearance

can't be hidden for long.

Where's Luo Qi?

I've let him know

that he should come here with Twelve Light Cavalry here first.

Xi Changkun is meticulous.

He won't act

without absolute certainty.

We still have time.

There's only one room here.

I'm afraid you'll have to make do tonight.

Should Mr. Qi rest with me?

No need.

He will

sleep here tonight.

He saved my life,

so we must show proper respect.

Yes.

Did you change my clothes?

Your clothes are dirty and torn.

What's wrong

with offering a hand?

How could you change my clothes?

Don't you understand the propriety between men and women?

You're already Jun Feifan's woman.

I'm not interested in women who belong to someone else.

You...

I had the cook help you with the clothes.

I didn't touch you.

Miss Qi Luo, why are you reacting so strongly?

I belong to Mr. Feifan,

so I must protect myself for his sake.

You've tricked me multiple times for your young master.

Why should I keep my word?

How bold.

General, there's no need to rush.

No one knows Mr. Feifan

better than I do.

I just can't tell you where he is yet,

but that doesn't mean I can't.

The longer you drag this out,

the more I'll start to question whether Jun Feifan...

In three months,

the Juns will hold a business meeting.

Mr. Feifan will definitely appear in the Royal Capital.

That's when I'll fulfill my promise.

How can you be so sure

that he'll definitely appear at the business meeting?

He knows better than anyone

that if he doesn't return,

the Jun branches will cause trouble.

The managers of joint-run businesses and the commoners

won't support Mr. Feifan

as the Jun Manager anymore,

and the Juns will fall.

The empire Mr. Feifan built

will not be handed over to others.

So, no matter where he is,

he must return to Yannan's Royal City that day.

General,

that will be your chance.

If you don't believe me,

you can send someone to check.

Everything I've said is true.

In the desert,

you risked your life and abandoned me

multiple times for Jun Feifan.

Why are you so quick to help now?

Because I've realized something.

If you don't let me go,

I won't be able to leave anyway.

And it's easy for you to kill me.

However sincere I am to Mr. Feifan,

my life matters the most.

You are a practical person.
