- Hey, everybody, it's your boy, Tate, coming at you live.
Well, I mean, not really live.
I mean, I'm live,
but you're watching a recording,
so it's not really...
Whatever. All right.
This is my new channel, "Tate's World,"
where I'll be posting all my hilarious,
awesome and sometimes very informative vids.
That's right.
This channel, it's my world, but it's yours, too.
And I'm all about world peace.
I'm 14 and I'm just starting out.
I like reading science fiction novels
and I love hanging out with my friends.
Ricky, you know what's up?
And my dog, Trixie, too.
I'm also into fly fishing with my dad.
And I am so good at solving puzzles.
Like I'm just so good at them.
I also...
Damn it!
Okay. All right, take two. [hand claps]
Hey, everybody.
It's your man, Tate, coming at you live.
Well, I mean, not really.
Like I'm live and you're watching.
Uh, watch.
Dammit!
Okay. It's your boy, Tate.
Coming at you live.
You're watching...
All right.
Hey, everybody.
It's your man, main, main man, Tate, coming at you live.
Well, I mean, not really,
like you're watching a recording,
but I'm live.
- [Mom] Tate, did you take out the garbage yet?
- [sighs] Mom, I'm filming a video.
- [Mom] Do it now.
- [Tate] But if it's lost treasure,
then how the hell does anyone know about it?
- Dude, I've explained this a zillion times.
There are clues about these things.
Yeah, some are not legit,
but people who know about the real ones passed on the info.
It's all here.
You just have to dig for it.
- [Tate] Well, if you ever find anything, Ricky,
I'll be right there.
My followers would love to see it.
[Ricky scoffs]
What?
- Nothing, dude.
You and your followers will be the first to know.
- [Harmony] What are you losers doing?
- [Tate] Hey, Harmony, what's going on?
- [Harmony] Not much.
Hey, Alexa, put on Harmony's chill out mix.
- [Alexa] Playing Harmony's chill out mix.
- [Tate] This family is way too addicted to the internet.
You guys need to experience real life.
- [Harmony] Says the kid with a camera
constantly glued to his face.
- [Tate] Okay, whatever. Good point.
But I'm just documenting things.
I'm out there.
I'm a man of the people.
- [Alexis] Ha, ha, ha.
A man.
- [Tate] So what's so interesting on there today?
- [Alex] Well, I'm not just wasting my time
looking for magic treasure that doesn't exist.
- [Tate] Shut up, Harm.
- [Harmony] There actually is a lot
of useful information on here, medical things,
some that contradict conventional theories
and people who have actual evidence of treatments
for all types of ailments and diseases.
- [Tate] Oh, that's cool.
Yeah, my mom once gave me this homey,
homeopathic stuff for a cold and it totally worked.
- Please. She's spends all her time chatting
with her boyfriend on there.
- [Harmony] You shut up. - [Tate] Oh, word?
- [Harmony] He's not my boyfriend.
We just connected and...
- Yeah, yeah, and he's not even real.
You're getting catfished big time.
Don't Venmo him anything.
- [Harmony] You're such a hater.
God, I can't wait until you finally go to college.
- [Ricky] Yeah, well who the hell is gonna feed you
when mom and dad go away on one of their stupid cruises?
- [Harmony] I'll figure it out.
- [Tate] Okay, chill you two.
Man, where's the love?
Okay, whatever, family drama gets a lot of hits.
I'm def posting this.
- Holy shit! - [Tate] What?
- Oh my freaking God.
There's literal actual treasure here in Massachusetts
in the next goddamn county over.
- [Tate] Wait, what you mean?
- I mean there are coins
left over from the Revolutionary War
buried in the woods in Templeton.
That's like half an hour away.
- [Harmony] Hmm. Sounds made up.
- It's not.
This site is actually one of the most reliable ones.
They found all types of artifacts and relics
all over the country.
They have freaking testimonials.
Oh my God. We gotta get there.
- [Tate] I mean, yeah, I'm down, Rick.
- [Harmony] And how exactly
are you two geniuses getting there?
You can't drive.
You definitely don't have money for that long an Uber ride.
- Oh, text Louie.
Get him over here.
And make sure he brings his sister.
- [Tate] You mean Melanie?
- That's the one.
- [Harmony] You mean the girl you're obsessed with?
What a flimsy ass plan to get her over here.
Ricky, she's a junior.
You have as much of a chance with her
as I do of break dancing right now.
- I swear to God, Harmony.
I'm gonna reprogram your computer
so you can only say curse words.
- [Harmony] Real classy.
And what kind of dumb ass threat is that?
I'd like it.
Would give me an excuse to curse even more.
Fuck, yeah.
- All right. Enough.
Tate, get texting.
- [Tate] On it.
[Louiee knocking] - Hello?
- Hey, Lou's up. - What's up, bro?
- And Melanie, thanks so much for bringing this guy over.
- Whatever, just make it quick.
I have my SAT prep class later.
- Oh, don't worry.
You'll be carrying those big multi syllabus
vocab words into your brain in no time.
- Oh, like pusillanimous?
- [Ricky] What does that mean?
- Who cares?
It's got pus right at the beginning.
- Okay. I'll leave you here
and I'll be back to pick you up when I'm done.
- No, no, no, please stay.
This won't take long. I promise.
- This is sounding like fun already, brotado.
- Uh, Damien, what are you doing here?
- What's up, Rick?
I came with Melanie. What'd you think?
- Oh, I didn't know you two were...
Nevermind. All good.
- [Damien] Yeah, we're together.
[gentle music]
- Will you get that thing outta my face, please?
- [Tate] Hey guys, what's up?
And sorry, Melanie. I just...
- Yo, my man!
Chill, Mel, God, that's his thing.
Don't worry, he could just add a filter
that doesn't make you look so hideous.
- You're 14. You don't need a thing.
And I don't like being filmed.
- [Harmony] Tell me about it.
- [Melanie] Oh, hi, Harmony. How are you?
- [Harmony] Living the dream.
- [Melanie] Yeah, I hear you.
- [Harmony] Do you?
- [Louie] What up, H Bomb?
- Guys, can we speed this up?
I got lac practice. Am I right?
- Yeah.
- All right, let's get down to business.
I've assembled you all here today
because each and every one of us is about to be...
- What, Ricky?
- Super rich.
- Heck, yes!
Let's get that cheddar, baby. [humming]
- You are so cringe.
What are you talking about?
- Yeah, man, is this is some kind of crypto thing
because I'm already making bank with that shit.
- I'm glad you asked, Melanie.
I don't know if you know this about me,
but I'm sort of an amateur archeologist and anthropologist.
- [Harmony] Oh, God.
- [Ricky] A young Indiana Jones, if you will.
- [Tate] Wait, who's that?
- Obviously, someone from Indiana named Jones.
- Dude!
- All right. Just like listen.
I'm part of an online group that investigates antique
and sometimes even ancient artifacts
and before you get all like skeptical or whatever,
just hear me out.
There was a battle fight during the Revolutionary War
and as the Confederates were losing,
the main general, this guy "Rettenmaier,"
he jotted down a little note in a map
of where he was hiding the satchel of gold coins
that were in his possession.
A professor at a school in the South
just uncovered the letter and the map
and it's in what today is Templeton.
- I repeat! Let's get that cheddar, son!
- So, I'm confused.
What do you need me for?
- Look, I'll show you.
The coins are estimated to be anywhere
between 20 and 50 grand.
And if we find them, which I know we will,
because we're the only people in the group chat
who live remotely near here,
then we split the cash evenly, all of us.
So what do you say?
- [scoffs] You guys just want me to come so that I can drive
because you're all babies
who don't even have your permits yet.
- [Harmony] Hey!
- [Melanie] Sorry. Not you, Harmony.
- [Damien] Damn, that's cold, Mel.
- Wait, didn't you fail your driver's test like twice?
So why are you even talking?
- Shut up.
- Yeah, Melanie, we need you.
But it's not just for the ride.
I'd really love for you to be part of this.
- Screw it, I'll skip lac practice for this.
- But I have my SAT prep class.
- Melanie, it's like four or five grand each minimum.
I think it's worth missing one session.
- Okay, fine. [laughs] - [Louie] Yes!
- [Harmony] Sorry to be a buzzkill,
but I think you guys should be very careful.
- [Melanie] What do you mean, Harmony?
- [Harmony] I just have a bad feeling about this.
- [Tate] Here we go.
- [Ricky] Like one of your primo or premature...
- [Harmony] Premonitions, yes.
I just see or feel a bad energy looming there.
- Wait, so you have like visions?
- Like psychic shit?
- She gets these feelings
and one time, she's right about a disturbance outside.
- [Harmony] If you would just listen...
- [Ricky] And it was raccoons in our garbage.
- Oh no, no, no, hate those fuzzy fuckers.
- [Harmony] And what about grandma?
- [Tate] What about grandma?
- It's nothing.
This whole conversation is ridiculous.
- [Harmony] You can do whatever you want.
I'm telling you this for selfish reasons.
I don't want to be stranded here
with no one to feed me tonight.
- [Damien] Yeah, no, guys, I think we should take this over.
- Oh my God, Harmony.
We'll be back in like two hours max.
Just chill, all right?
- [Harmony] I can't stop you, obviously,
but you need to be observant, Ricky.
Sometimes I feel like you don't want to see
what's right in front of you,
especially if it gets in the way
of your idyllic little life.
- We're going now and we'll back soon.
Are we cool?
- Samuel L. Mother F'ing Jackson.
- Okay, but if Harmony's right and something feels off,
we leave immediately, got it?
- Yeah. What she said.
- All good with me.
Now let's get a move on.
- We are gonna get paid, bitches!
- [Damien] Almost there, babe.
- Yeah, but where do I park to get closest to the the site?
- [Siri] Turn right at the next light onto Crompond Road.
- [Damien] Fuck you, Siri. Geez.
- [Louie] Where you roll?
- Um, the main parking should be fine.
Looks like it'll put us about a mile away from the cave,
which are where the coins are buried.
- [Tate] You guys, I'm actually a pretty decent spelunker.
- [Damien] Wait, wait, wait. You're a spelunker?
No surprises there.
- [Tate] No, you idiot.
That means someone who explores caves.
- Oh! You know who's ca I likes to explore?
Ms. Williams.
You know what I'm talking about, son?
- [Tate] Yeah, I mean for an English teacher,
she is pretty hot.
- [Damien] I can't argue there.
[Melanie scoffs]
- What? Come on, it's true.
You're way hotter. Mel.
- Why in the hell did I agree to this?
- [Louie] Oh, come on, don't be jelly, Mel.
- I can't believe I'm missing my lesson
to spend the day with these sophomore boys.
- [Damien] Hey, don't forget I'm here, too.
I know my way around the woods.
- [Tate] Oh, yeah?
- Yeah, man. I can make a mean ass fire, too.
- [Tate] What's an ass fire?
- [Louie] That's what you get after eating Mexican food.
- Guys, come on focus.
When we get there, I'll leave you to the cave.
But keep an eye out, in case there are any clues
or anything that seems helpful.
- Wait, what? What do you mean?
I thought we'd just go to the cave,
get the coins and then that's that.
- Yeah, I mean that's like 99% of what will happen.
- [Melanie] And the other 1%?
- Well, sometimes if people post on the site,
they'll have it backwards or some info will be a little off.
And then there's the slim minority
of people who post hoaxes.
- [Melanie] No, I'm turning around.
- No, this person's legit.
All the other things he post on the site
turn out to be real.
Plus, I can feel it.
- Oh, so now you believe in like feelings?
- No, bro. You know what I mean?
Just a good vibe.
- Yeah, man. I'm all about vibes.
Like when I'm wheeling down the field,
I just get the vibe
and I smoke the defender and snipe on the net.
- [Tate] Cool!
Um, speaking of that,
what was Harmony talking about, about your grandma?
- It's nothing. So stupid.
- [Louie] Oh, I love stupid. Tell us.
- [Damien] Yeah, man. Dish it.
- Tate, remember when my grandma died
like two years ago?
- [Tate] Yep.
- Well, Harmony said she had this feeling
the night before it happened
that something horrible was gonna happen to her.
- [Louie] Dude, that's creepy.
- No, bro, it's just coincidence. She was 90.
We had the feelings she's gonna, you know, any day.
- It sucks. My grandpa died.
- What happened?
- He was like old, I guess.
- [Louie] I'm sure it's a great story, bro.
- [Siri] Stay left at the fork,
and then your destination is on the right.
- Crispy, let's get this crusty old bread, fools!
- I swear to God, you were adopted.
- [Tate] Hey, Louie, can you come hold this for a second?
- Yeah, sure.
- Yeah, no, it just got way colder all of a sudden.
- [Louie] Don't wanna freeze your skinny off, huh?
- All right, just gimme that back.
- Yo, isn't that that kid from YouTube?
- Yeah, it's the nerd, Tate.
- [Melanie] What?
- [Damien] Hey, what you doing?
- I'm just preparing in case anything jumps out.
I may have to actually smack them.
- [laughs] Let's hope not.
I don't want you smacking anything.
- Oh, yeah?
- So this trail here,
this'll lead us about half the way.
- [Melanie] And the rest?
- And then we'll keep going.
- Awesome.
- [Louie] All right, Ricky, lead us oh fearless leader.
- [Tate] Yeah, let's do it, Magellan.
- Who's that?
- [Tate] Super famous explorer from Portugal.
- Whatever, Magellan.
[leaves rustling]
- [Tate] Let's go, this way.
- [Louie] You sure, man?
This way it looks way easier.
- Yep, I'm sure.
- Hey, you hold this for now.
- [laughing] Smooth as always.
- Hey, I wasn't ready.
[leaves rustling]
[leaves rustling continues]
- [Tate] Guys? Can we stop for a second?
I really have to pee.
- We just got out here.
- [Tate] Yeah, I know, I'm sorry.
Okay, I'll be quick.
- Dude, don't let a tick bite your dick.
[leaves rustling]
[leaves rustling continues]
[Tate heavily breathing]
[leaves rustling]
- We're still going me in the right direction, right?
- Yeah, you know, just like 10 minutes or so
till we get to the next part.
- Okay. Cool.
- You all right, babe? - Yeah, I'm fine.
- [Tate] So, uh, what are you guys gonna do with the cash?
- Good question. I'm gonna buy a Tesla.
- Yeah, that makes sense.
- I'll put it into a high yield stock.
Triple that shit in a year.
- Oh, says the wannabe finance bro.
- Wannabe? I'm already crushing it, bud.
- [Tate] Well, I've been eyeing this sweet camera on eBay.
A red digital Cinema KOMODO 6K and a pro grade audio kit.
Even if we only get the 5,000 each,
like you said, Ricky, I'll be able to afford it
so that's a win.
- It's good to hear someone's realistic in this group.
- And you, now?
- In all honesty,
I think I would just put it towards college.
I have these private schools I wanna go to
that my parents can't really pay for
and I would probably have a lot of loans.
- Boring. Dude, Tesla.
- What about you, Richard?
- Um, well that's kind of a complicated question.
- How so?
- Well, there's a lot of stuff you gotta look out for
in you know, the future.
- Okay, cryptic much?
- I mean you just never know.
I mean, I'm kind of curious to even...
Anyways.
- Oh, that's sweet.
- Oh, that's sweet.
- Eh, whatever.
I might just buy a new biker or some new shoes or...
- What's wrong?
- I seemed to have lost reception.
[friends groan]
- Hey, well, what'd you expect?
We're pretty deep in here.
I mean, you can still use the map, right?
You don't need a signal for that?
- Yeah, yeah, no sweat.
Hey, the original spores didn't use wifi.
- Oh, like Magellan?
- Yeah, no, I don't know, guys.
I know my way back from here.
Maybe we should just turn around?
- No, just keep going.
Louie, gimme that thing.
- Show off.
- Yo, watch this.
[branch breaks]
- Oh wow, someone call Cobra Kai.
[electric whirring]
- But that doesn't make any sense.
- Oh, come on, Mel.
It's not Ricky's fault we got lost.
I mean, at least not completely.
- Okay, just wait a sec, the map-
- The map is a piece of shit.
And now we're out here and we're lost
and it's raining and we have like an hour of light left,
if that!
So let's just go. This is so stupid.
- Okay, just wait a second.
I'm sure it's close by, it's-
- Let's leave. That's what I'm doing.
- Yeah, I'm totally over it, babe.
Let's dip.
- Wait, let's just look in this area
for like 15 more minutes.
If we don't find anything,
we all go back together, you know?
- Fine. 15 minutes.
- 15 minutes is all I need.
- Oh, you're the worst.
- Whatever. Do whatever you want.
- I'm out of here.
- You're just gonna leave me here?
Are you serious?
- Yeah, I'll be back in the car waiting for you
when you finally come to your senses.
- Awkward.
- [Tate] Well, the most logical thing we can do
is each walk for five minutes in one direction.
There's four of us, so North, South, East, West.
We could use the sun for like direction if it was out.
If the cave really is around here...
- No, no, I'm realizing I'm the oldest one here.
And if any of you gets killed, I'm gonna be the blame.
- Oh, please, Melanie.
You're only 14 and a half months older than me.
- No, she's right.
That's a good idea, Tate, but it could lead to problems.
We'll just stick together.
- [Tate] Just trying to be logical but whatevs.
- Pretty clear, there's nothing in this area here.
Or here.
And this part of the woods, it's thicker.
- Perfect.
- And there could be anything, you know,
'Cause you can't see from, that's like vantage point.
I've got a good feeling about it.
- You and your feels, man.
- Come on. Follow me.
[electric whirring]
[leaves rustling]
[leaves continue rustling]
- No, that's it. I'm calling it.
- Wait, it hasn't even been like five minutes yet.
- Yeah, Ricky, but you can clearly see
there isn't shit ahead.
Let's just go back to the car
before it gets completely dark.
[leaves rustling]
- Whoa! Um.
Hi. Don't be scared.
Not a bear, just a guy.
- Sorry, we must look like ridiculous.
- No worries. It's all good.
Sorry if I frightened you guys.
I know the woods can be a little nerve wracking.
I'm Adam.
- Hey, Adam, I'm Ricky.
These are my friends.
- I'm Melanie. I'm actually just sort of babysitting them.
- Yeah, totally. That's what's happening.
- Okay, um, what are you guys doing out here?
- We're just out for a hike.
What are you doing here?
- Me? I'm out here all the time.
I love the woods.
I hike the entire perimeter every weekend
and sometimes, I hike that mountain over there.
- [Tate] The outdoorsy type, huh?
- Yeah, you could say that.
- So you know this area pretty well then?
- Yeah, sure do.
- We heard there's like a cool cave
right around there.
Do you know where that is like exactly?
- Okay, I see. You guys are treasure hunters.
- [laughing] What gave it away?
- We're sure it's cool and we we wanna see it.
- Yeah man, we're just, you know, like hardcore spelunkers?
- [laughing] Okay.
Just, I saw a bunch of people out here
looking for some civil war artifacts or something.
- [Tate] Revolutionary War!
- Tate, shut up.
- Guys! Relax.
I'm not trying to steer you loot or anything.
Not my scene. [laughing]
- But how could they know about?
- Look, there is a cave about a mile that way,
about in the West, so.
I'd get a move on it though, if I were you,
before it gets dark.
Do you guys have flashlights?
- [Tate] My camera has a super high-powered halogen light,
so we're all set.
- No, thanks, Adam, but we're fine.
We're just gonna head back to my car so it's all good.
- Who died and made you queen?
- The queen.
- Regardless [laughs], if you head that way,
there's cell reception over there.
The altitude is a little higher
so you can better navigate back to your car
than trusting in your map there.
- Thanks, Adam. We really appreciate it.
- No problem.
Guys, honestly,
I don't think you're gonna find anything out there
but it couldn't hurt to check, I guess.
Just be careful.
- Of what?
- Well, there's some vagrants
that like to hang out around there.
No one you really wanna run into.
- [] Nope.
- Well, good luck.
Guys.
- Nice meeting you. - Nice. [laughs]
- Hee hee hee.
So quick question, are you gonna follow him
to slob's knob now or?
- Shut up, Louie.
- Guys, come on.
We definitely should head that way.
- Okay, I agree, but just so we can get cell reception.
[leaves rustling]
[leaves continue rustling]
- And we're off in the direction
of the ever-dwindling sun.
He's gonna rave in the [indistinct], rave in the-
- I really do hope a bear does eat you.
[leaves rustling]
Okay. It's been 20 minutes.
That's how long it takes to walk a mile.
There's nothing here in this godforsaken forest of fuckery.
- Hey, not entirely nothing.
You did see that cool rock from before?
- No, I'm calling it, we're going back.
- Wait, we're so close. I can feel it.
- Enough.
Adam was right about one thing.
I do have at least one bar here.
- Praise be. - Yeah, I can get us back.
Even if the signal drops,
my map will still show us the way to the car.
- Wait a second, what's that right over there?
- Nothing, it's another cool rock.
Let's go.
- No, Jelly Melly, I think he's right.
That could be the cave.
- I told you never to call me Jelly Melly.
And no, it's just some little house or something.
- Come on, we've come this far.
Let's just check it out.
And if it's not the cave, we bounce, all right?
- This is the last detour.
- There! See!
That's definitely a cave.
Whoa!
[Louie, Ricky and Melanie yelling]
[object thuds]
- [Ricky] Are you sure you're okay?
I thank God you're okay.
My special girl.
- [Tate] So what the hell just happened?
- Oh shoot, sorry, bro. Are you all right?
- [Tate] I think so though. So?
- So we fell in a hole.
- [Tate] Yeah, okay. Yeah, that makes sense.
Where the hell is Louie?
- Are you dick licks okay?
- Yeah, Lou, we're fine.
- It looks like you guys fell in a hole.
- Thanks, genius.
Is there anything up there that can help us get out?
Like, I don't know, a branch or a rope or something?
- Uh, yeah, gimme a second.
Louie to the case!
- I'm sorry, I'm really sorry,
but how the hell was I suppose to know
there'd be a giant hole here?
- You mean a trap?
This isn't just some massive random hole in the woods.
This is like a goddamn bear trap or something.
- Yeah, sure. It's probably what it is.
Again, how the hell would I know
that I picked-
- We were the ones that were following you.
You were just going anywhere
without even looking at the direction you were going.
- I'm sorry, okay. I'm really sorry.
How many times do you want me to say it?
Look, look, I know this sucks,
but we'll get out here.
And we'll go right back.
Right?
- [Tate] Yeah. It sounds like a very solid plan to me.
But I just gotta say this.
It got a heck of a lot more interesting.
- Dude. Not now.
- Shit. Shit. - What?
- My phone, I don't have it.
- It's okay. Don't panic.
We'll find it.
- [Tate] Maybe it fell outta your hand,
you know, when we fell in?
- You think?
- I'm not getting a signal down here anyway, so.
- Goddamnit, this stupid excursion
has been screwed from the beginning.
What was I thinking?
Going on some goddamn treasure hunt.
I mean, I must be losing my mind.
I should have just gone with Damien.
- It's not that bad.
Louie will be back soon
and then we'll get the hell outta here.
- Did I just hear the name of someone awesome?
- Our hero.
- I'm gonna lower this bad boy down.
- Great, our rescue depends on my weak brother.
- Shut up now.
- Just lower it down here.
- Stop. - [gasps] Louie!
- Louie. - Are you okay?
- Louie, what's going on?
- Louie, say something.
- Was up?
- Goddamnit!
- Lou, what the hell?
- I'm sorry, but you guys are too goddamn easy.
You should have seen your faces.
- [Tate] Not cool, man.
- Okay, take a chill pill.
Here.
- Thank you.
- Damn it. - It's okay.
Maybe you can use it to climb up
and you can twist up the rest of the way.
- Yeah. - No, it's fine.
I'll look for a bigger stick.
- No, no, stay here.
We'll just follow Ricky's plan.
- Yeah. - Just toss it down.
Come on. - Yeah. Mel, you go first.
- No! [Melanie gasps]
- Louie, goddamnit!
- Dude, come on. - Quit doing that.
- Yeah, man. Come on.
- [Tate] Guys, I don't wanna be an alarmist
but I think I actually saw someone grab him this time.
- Could you play it back? - [Tate] Yeah.
- I don't know what that proves,
but I don't think he's pranking us this time.
- Melanie, you'll be okay.
He's tough. You know that.
- I don't know that. We don't know anything.
I'm not just gonna sit here
and wait while my brother's taken by, whatever.
[branch dragging]
I'm going up. Hold this stent.
Ow, ah!
- I'm a little taller than you.
Maybe I could reach it.
- Be my guest. - I'll help.
- Ugh! Freaking [indistinct].
- I'm sorry, I should have warned you.
- Dammit!
I'm an idiot! You're right.
We never should have.
Now Louie is, I don't even know.
And it's getting late.
And Harmony's all alone and-
- Don't freak out on me right now, okay?
I shouldn't have blamed you.
We all chose to come here together, all right?
Let's just put our heads together
and figure out how to get outta here.
- Absolutely. 100.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right.
- Plus, Damien might come looking for us.
- Don't bet on it.
- Well, we obviously can't use the branch as it is, so.
- Yeah, I mean, maybe if we broke it up.
- But like what if we like...
- We can break it into little pieces.
- Yeah and we can like use it as like pegs.
- Oh, you guys mean, yeah.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then stick it in the dirt.
Use it as like a ladder or steps or something.
- Okay, let's do it. - Wait, perfect.
- Okay, okay, all right.
[Ricky groaning]
- Oh, that's a good one. [branch breaks]
- Next.
- Okay, let's try again. - Yeah.
[branch breaks] [Ricky groans]
- It's perfect. We just need a few more like that.
- Yeah.
[branch breaks] [Ricky groans]
- That's good.
- Nice work, Rick.
You can add woodworking to your college resume.
- All right. Ready? - Yeah.
[Ricky groans] - [Melanie] Go.
[Ricky yells]
- Guys, I don't think it's gonna work.
The dirt is too loose here.
[Ricky groaning, panting]
- Where's that smoke coming from?
- Shh. - [Adam] Hey, you guys okay?
- Is that? - Adam, right?
- Yeah, yeah, I think so.
- Are you sure that's him?
- [Adam] Grab onto the rope and I'll help pull you up.
- It sounds like him.
- But, what?
But what if he's the one who took Louie?
- [Tate] We have to ask Louie, to be sure first, right?
- Okay, let me do it.
Adam, is that you?
Is my brother up there?
- [Adam] Geez! What happened to you guys?
- We fell in this hole.
- [Adam] Okay, got you. Are you okay?
- Yeah, we're fine. Is my brother up there?
- [Adam] Your brother?
Oh, you mean the other kid that was with you guys?
There was no one else up here.
I just heard a commotion from before.
It came as soon as I could.
- Okay, thanks. Shit.
- Wait, we're gonna come up now one at a time, okay?
- [Adam] Sounds good. I'm just gonna step back.
Just signal me when you start to climb.
Yeah? - Yep.
After you. - Thanks.
[leaves shifting]
- All right, coming up. - [Adam] Okay, got it.
- Almost there.
Melanie.
[Melanie groans]
[Melanie yells]
- Melanie?
- [Adam] Who the fuck are you?
- Ah! Melanie.
Melanie, are you there?
Are you okay?
- Adam, what happened?
Hey, what's going on? [panting]
- [Tate] Melanie, are you hurt?
Can you just please say something? Anything?
What the hell just happened?
- Whoever's screwing with us, they just got Melanie.
- [Tate] By the sounds of it, Adam, too.
- We're trapped.
- [Tate] Only, they're gonna get us, too.
- Come on, dude. Don't freak out.
- [Tate] Who else is here?
I didn't see any other person in these stupid woods.
- Dude, I don't know.
- [Tate] Adam did say there were like indigence
or indigenous around here.
- Yeah, yeah, I mean, I mean, could be.
That makes the most sense right now, but who the hell knows?
- [Tate] Well, at least Adam was right
about getting some service up here.
- Yeah, you're right.
That means if we can just get up there again,
we actually have a chance of finding Louie and Melanie,
calling the police
and actually getting the hell outta here.
- [Tate] Okay, so how do we get outta here
without whoever the hell is up there like killing us?
- Dude, Tate, we don't know anything.
We don't know that he's killing anyone.
- [Tate] Well, what do you think happened to Louie?
To Melanie, Adam?
I don't hear them like talking or living.
Do you?
- Keep your voice down, stay calm.
Whoever it is up there,
they obviously know we're down here
and that we can't escape,
but maybe we can use that to our advantage.
- [Tate] Okay, that's smart, but how?
- All right, how about this?
I can use some of the branch pieces
and like attempt to climb up the side of the hole again.
- [Tate] Okay. But then like what?
- Just listen.
I can use it as like a decoy.
I'll pretend to climb up a bit
and then I'll fake a fall and scream like I broke my ankle.
- [Tate] Like what, then?
- Well, whoever's up there, they'll think I'm injured,
you know, if I can really sell it
and that I can't fight back.
And then they'll think it's just him against you.
And I'm pretty sure he'll be confident enough
to believe that he can handle that.
No problem.
No offense, Tate.
- [Tate] None taken.
- And there's also a chance he doesn't know
exactly who's down here.
- [Tate] Pretty damn sure he does.
- Yeah, same, but there's also a possibility
he doesn't know you're down here.
So I was thinking like get in the corner
and kind of hide.
- [Tate] Where?
We're in this like hole crevice thing.
There's no corners.
- Yeah. Dude, you know what I mean?
Just hide yourself the best you can
and definitely keep recording everything.
This is probably like super important evidence
for the police, after all this is over.
- [Tate] This would make hella interesting vid.
Sorry. Sorry.
Okay. But then what?
- Well, once he comes down to like, get me,
I'll jump up and I'll have
one of the bigger pieces of the branch with me
and I'll crack him in the head with it.
You know, element of surprise kind of shit.
- [Tate] Yeah. I feel you.
- Good, and if you wanna have
one of the pieces with you too, just in case.
- [Tate] Yeah, I'll do that.
- Okay.
[footsteps striking]
- [Tate] Um, you ready?
- Yeah, let's put on a show for the psychos ass clown.
Louie! Melanie!
I think I have a way to come up!
I'm coming up now!
[leaves shifting]
Oh! Oh, my ankle!
Shit, I think it's broken!
Oh, shoot. Oh, it hurts so bad, oh!
Oh!
Oh, shit!
[body thuds] [Louie yells]
- Why?
- No, no, no, no, no.
Hey, right here.
I killed him! I killed Louie!
Oh my God, it's all my fault.
It's all my fault. I killed him!
I killed Louie, I killed him.
My fault, it's all my fault.
It's all my fault, it's my fault.
I killed him, I killed him.
It's all my fault.
- Tate, listen.
- I killed him, I killed him.
It's all my fault, it's all my fault.
I killed Louie, I killed Louie.
- Tate, stop it! It's not your fault, okay?
There's some kind of maniac up there doing this to us.
Stalking us, torturing us.
None of this is your fault.
Hey, look at me, you think it's my fault.
I made us come up here
and I was goddamn sure they find this stupid ass treasure.
I didn't really have a plan.
We need to pull it together, all right?
Melanie could still be,
she could be alive and she may need our help.
So we gotta figure out a way to get out here and-
Okay? I need you, Tate, okay?
I need you. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
You're right. So? [sobbing]
[electronic whirring]
- Okay, okay.
What the hell is this?
[dirt shifting]
[no audio]
- Okay, well one thing I'm sure of
is we need to get out of this goddamn hole,
even if the bastard's up there waiting for us.
It's just one dude, we can take him, right?
- [Tate] Sure. One dude.
- Well, climbing up the side of the hole
definitely isn't gonna work.
We need something secure that we can pull ourselves up with.
- [Tate] Like how Melanie up using the rope?
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
But not that. Yeah.
Um, well,
yeah, yeah, yeah, I think if we,
if we can tie our jackets together,
we can make a decent-sized rope
and then we can toss it up their fishing line style
and try to snag it on something solid.
- [Tate] Yeah, we can make a little loop
using the end sleeve
and then try and catch it on something up there.
There's a bunch of big rocks and sticks and things,
things it'll snag on.
- Yeah. Perfect. Let's do it.
- [Tate] Here you go.
[Ricky indistinctly speaks]
- [Tate] Yeah, tie it just like that.
Yeah, this is good, right?
- [Tate] Oh, it's not...
- Long enough, I know, but-
- [Tate] Well, we do have another jacket.
- Yeah, just um.
I'll do it.
[footstep striking]
- [Tate] There you go.
Just like the other one.
- We gotta get outta this.
- [Tate] You know, just a little tighter, maybe.
- Okay here we go.
[Ricky groans]
- All right, that was a good first try. Go again?
- That's the plan, bud.
[Ricky groans]
- [Tate] You wanna try like hard, you know?
- Yeah, no, it's a little frustrating.
Okay.
[Ricky groans]
Dammit!
- [Tate] Hey, you're doing great Rick.
It's just a matter of finding the right spot up there.
You got this.
[Ricky groans]
- Fuck me?
- [Tate] Can I give it a shot?
- Be my guest.
- All right, pull the jackets to the test. [groans]
- [Ricky] Damn, nice!
- Beginners luck.
Okay, okay.
Let me [speaking fades].
[object clattering]
[leaves rustling]
- [Ricky] All right, ready when you are.
- [Tate] Here goes nothing.
- [Ricky] Come on, Tate. You got this.
[Tate groaning, panting]
- Thanks, man.
We're a good team, bro.
We gotta move? - Yeah, dude, obviously.
Come on.
[leaves rustling]
[suspenseful music]
Stay behind me,
this way we can both see everything with the light.
[animal whining]
- [Tate] What was that?
Great.
[suspenseful music]
[suspenseful music continues]
[animal howling]
[suspenseful music]
[leaves rustling]
[crickets chirping]
[crickets continues chirping]
[leaves rustling]
[leaves continues rustling]
[animal growls]
[leaves rustling]
- Can you turn the light down a bit?
- [Tate] Yeah, sure.
- Make sure there's just enough
so we can see where we're going.
I don't wanna draw anyone or anything closer.
- [Tate] You got it.
[leaves rustling]
- Nice.
Dammit.
Man! No bars, either.
What should we, I'm pretty sure we came this way,
but it doesn't matter.
We have to keep moving.
- [Tate] Right.
- And we have to stay like vigilant,
look for any light
or any clues of where he could have Melanie.
- [Tate] And what about that shack
that we were headed for before?
It's definitely close by.
- Yeah, you're right.
We can check that out.
But we have to be super quiet.
If he's in there, he's got the upper hand,
which means he's probably got weapons
and God knows what else.
- [Tate] We should get as close as we can
and then I'll just completely turn the light off.
- [Ricky] I like it.
- [Tate] So lead the way?
- [Ricky] Yeah.
- [Tate] Shit!
- Shh!
- [Tate] Do you see the shack thingy anywhere?
- I can't see shit.
- [Tate] Anything?
- You can check yours. Mine's dead.
- [Tate] What should we do?
- Oh, we have to keep moving. [branches crunching]
[branches continue crunching]
- [Tate] What?
- See that? A bed.
It's a fire.
Kill the light.
Zoom in.
[camera whirring]
[fire blazing]
- [Tate] Is that?
We have to, we need some sort of,
we need some weapons.
[fire blazing]
[fire continues blazing]
- [yelling] No!
Melanie, Melanie, Melanie, no, no!
[fire blazing]
[yells] Shit, shit!
No, no, Melanie, no, no, no, no, no.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
[fire blazing]
[Ricky panting]
[fire continues blazing]
[Ricky yells]
[camera, body thuds]
No, Tate.
[ominous music]
Oh my God [indistinctly talking, sobbing].
[owl calling]
Shit!
I'm gonna die out here. [panting]
[ominous music]
No, no, stop it, Ricky, stop it.
I have to get down.
I have to get outta here.
[footsteps striking]
Okay. Okay.
Don't know which direction the exit is,
but if I keep walking blindly into the forest,
I could be even more lost.
Gotta find that goddamn hut.
Gotta be close.
That's where that bathroom is, that's so surprising.
There's something useful.
I wonder if he's in there.
I gotta take my chances.
Screw it.
[ominous music]
There! There!
The biggest tree with the fork in the middle.
I remember that.
That was near the hut.
[ominous music] [leaves rustling]
[animal howling]
Goddamn, wild coyote.
[suspenseful music] [leaves rustling]
Yes, yes.
I get it.
[leaves, branches crunching]
[animal whining]
[crickets chirping]
[leaves, branches crunching]
Where am I going?
Deeper and deeper into the woods.
But what am I gonna do?
If this psycho doesn't get me,
I'm going get eaten by a fricking bear.
[leaves, branches crunching] [ominous music]
I just have to keep moving.
I can't stop.
[crickets chirping]
[leaves, branches crunching]
[animal grunting]
[suspenseful music]
[leaves, branches crunching]
[animal whines]
[suspenseful music]
[animal whines]
[suspenseful music]
[animals squeaking]
[animals continue squeaking]
[ominous music]
[animals howling]
[leaves, branches crunching]
Okay, okay, okay, wait.
I think this way looks.
Yes, yes, there's a stream there.
That must mean I'm going the right way,
unless I'm walking in the wrong direction.
[suspenseful music]
[animal howling]
Melanie, she was so amazing,
so smart, so pretty.
I should have told her how I felt.
I should have let her know that I was...
Maybe that would've changed things.
But why was she with that stupid jock, Damien?
I mean, what did she even see in him?
Wait, this is looking familiar.
Oh my God, did I just go in circle?
Shit, there's a fire.
No, that's Tate.
Tate, he's burning, too. [fire blazing]
[Ricky indistinctly speaking]
[fire blazing]
Why is he burning them?
[fire blazing] [suspenseful music]
[fire continues blazing] [suspenseful music continues]
[fire continues blazing] [suspenseful music continues]
Is that? That's Adam.
I gotta get the hell outta here.
[ominous music] [animals squealing]
[ominous music continues] [animals continues squealing]
[leaves, branches crunching]
Wait, I think I see.
Yes, that's the shack!
There's a light on in there.
I have to be quiet.
[suspenseful music]
[leaves, branches crunching]
[suspenseful music]
[suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues] [leaves, branches crunching]
[person moaning]
[leaves, branches crunching]
[crickets chirping]
[crickets continues chirping]
[crickets continues chirping]
[crickets continues chirping]
[person moaning]
[person continues moaning]
[person continues moaning]
[Ricky yells]
[person yells]
Die, piece of shit!
How do you like it, huh?
You sick fuck! [person on ground groaning]
[Ricky panting] [objects thuds]
[crickets chirping] [suspenseful music]
[suspenseful music continues] [Ricky panting]
[suspenseful music continues] [Ricky continues panting]
[footsteps striking]
Gotta eat something.
[leaves rustling]
I'm not scared of the goddamn woods, now.
[leaves rustling]
[leaves continues rustling]
Are you kidding me?
[animal groans]
Oh, hell no.
[leaves rustling]
[Ricky indistinctly speaks]
[leaves rustling]
[animal squeaks]
I just need to find that damn car.
I can drive it outta here.
Right, Ricky? Yes, you can do it.
I hope.
[leaves rustling]
Yes, yes, yes.
I gotta get outta here.
[vehicle door squeaks]
[keys jingling] [Ricky panting]
[vehicle engine turning]
No, no, no.
Don't do this.
[vehicle engine turning]
[vehicle engine whirring]
[vehicle engine starts]
Thanks, again, God.
Okay.
Let me um.
Okay.
Um.
Whatever.
If the cops pull me over, I'll be grateful.
But I probably don't need to record evidence of this, right,
especially since we're gonna have to turn this all over
to the cops anyway.
You know, to prove I'm not the psychopath
who killed all my friends.
[vehicle engine whirring]
[vehicle door whirs]
[footsteps thudding]
Well, I made it somehow. [panting]
Gonna have to explain that to the rents though.
Probably a whole lot more.
[birds chirping]
[electric whirring]
[door squeaks]
Harmony? Harmony, where are you?
I'm so sorry.
You have no idea what...
Oh, thank God, you're okay.
- [Harmony] What the hell happened to you?
Why didn't you call or text?
Where have you been all this time?
What's going on?
Where is everyone else?
- [Ricky] You're not gonna believe me,
but I swear every word I'm about to say is true.
When we got to the forest, we got like turned around.
The map wasn't, it wasn't right!
And we didn't have any reception in there.
And anyway, we met this dude there in the woods
and he told us where to go.
We were looking for a cave at this point
and it was getting dark.
We headed in the direction of the cave
and it was hard to see at this point.
And there was a hole that some lunatic had dug
to trap people.
There were branches and leaves covering it,
to disguise it as just part of the ground.
And we were rushing and we fell into it.
And that's when things really got...
- [Harmony] Yeah?
- [Ricky] That's when things completely went to shit.
Louie was the only one didn't fall in
and he was gonna try to help us get out.
And he.
Someone took him.
- [Harmony] They took him?
- [Ricky] Yeah. And we were freaking out.
But Melanie, she was able to climb outta the hole
and then, and then she was...
- [Harmony] Okay Ricky, that's enough.
- [Ricky] What do you mean?
I'm just about to explain what.
- [Harmony] I've heard enough.
- [Ricky] What do you mean, Harmony?
- [Harmony] You really should have listened to me.
- [Ricky] Listened to you about what?
- [Harmony] I told you not to go there.
I warned you.
- [Ricky] Yeah. Harmony.
I know, but that's not the point, okay?
We were-
- [Harmony] But the thing is, Ricky,
I knew you wouldn't listen to me.
You never do.
- [Ricky] It's not true. - [Harmony] Oh, it is.
Didn't need to use my clairvoyance this time.
I guess I wanted to give you one last chance
to prove me wrong, but you failed.
- [Ricky] I don't understand.
- [Harmony] You will.
See Ricky, you've always taken me for granted.
In fact, your whole life,
you've taken a lot of things for granted.
- [Ricky] What do you mean?
- [Harmony] The fact that you can walk, talk,
and do everything that a normal-abled person can do.
You've never had to overcome anything
and it was time for that to change.
- [Ricky] Harmony, what the hell are you talking about?
- [Harmony] You don't have to finish your story
because I know everything that happened
and I know how it ends.
- [Ricky] What is that supposed to mean?
[sliding glass door whirs]
- Surprise.
Oh, wait one sec.
I should not leave this out there for anyone to see it.
- [Ricky] What?
[body thuds]
[sliding glass door whirs] - Hi, Rick.
That's right.
It's me, Adam.
Back again.
I guess I should have mentioned
that I was head over heels for your sister.
- [Harmony] Aw, same babe.
- Yeah, well, we met online.
I guess that's not that odd nowadays.
It's how everyone meets right?
- [Harmony] I was drawn to him, a kindred spirit.
I could feel it.
- We certainly are, aren't we, baby?
- [Harmony] Come on. Don't leave him hanging, babe.
- You're right.
That was for your friends. [laughs]
- [Ricky] This? This is your boyfriend.
- [Harmony] I told you, we don't like labels.
- That's right, baby.
We met on a dating site
and I knew from right then, she was special.
Oh yeah, I do get internet out there,
which I think you saw.
Anyway, Rick, I'm a believer in natural medicine.
You know, the things that the Native Peoples
have been using for centuries, you know.
That's something that Harmony I discussed at length.
You know, I don't think that you're getting it, kiddo.
I was afflicted with a pretty bad autoimmune disease
and it had me in a wheelchair
for the better part of my life.
- [Harmony] Aw.
- Modern Western medicine didn't do jack to help.
And then, I did my research.
And I found something that the Indigenous People
in the Amazon use to cure similar ailments.
Something so simple, something so available.
- [Ricky] You eat?
- [Harmony] Adam has been kind enough
to share this information with me.
- Yep, and we've been searching
for the perfect supplement ever since.
- [Harmony] I know Adam frequents the woods there
in Templeton.
He really is a hot mountain man, huh?
- Babe, stop!
- So when you told me, Ricky, that you were going there
and once again, you wouldn't listen to me,
well, this really just fell into my lap, huh?
I contacted this hottie here right away
and the rest, well, that's history.
- One more thing to take care of.
[feet shuffling]
Easy, kid, you're not going anywhere.
I guess you figured out what the cure is, huh?
It's something more delicious
than you could ever dream of.
- Go to hell!
- Not yet, buddy. Not yet.
First I gotta give my sister that special treat.
[Ricky panting]
- But I killed the guy who was-
- Oh yeah, that dude.
Yeah, just one of the vagrants in the park, you know,
the ones that I told you about.
You actually did me a favor, really?
Filthy guy always gets in my stuff.
- But he was eating.
- Eating KFC, Ricky.
Not something as exquisite as what we're gonna be dining on.
- But you were screaming.
You were all bloody.
- Yeah, you thought you were the only one
with acting skills, Mister?
"I think I broke my ankle."
Come on, I did some community theater in my day.
Not too bad, huh?
[Ricky groaning]
Hey, hey, you've got spunk, kid!
You know, I really admire that.
Boy, I'm really gonna miss messing with you guys.
- [Ricky] Why don't you kill me there, huh?
- Well, Ricky,
I gotta give that little cutie
the absolute freshest product.
- [Harmony] Sorry, Ricky, it's my turn to live now.
- Babe, will you do the honors?
- [Harmony] Of course, my love.
Alexa, please start the oven.
- [Alexa] Turning oven on.
- No, no, no!
- Shh, shh, shh, shh.
It'll all be over soon.
Not that soon.
Honey, how do you like your meat?
- [Harmony] Crispy?
- No. No!
