The Gradys are a fascinating family.

They were originally the O'Gradys and they

fled Ireland in the 1900s, claiming to be tortured

by creatures called the Sluagh.

Tortured, what does that mean, tortured?

Is it a physical thing, were they harmed,

were they killed?

It's everything.

It's physical, it's mental, it's emotional.

According to the Irish, the Sluagh mark people

that have desecrated something sacred.

What would something sacred, in this case be?

Were they guilty of this, did they desecrate something?

In Celtic culture the oak tree is considered sacred.

Bob O'Grady, the youngest of the Grady clan,

he accidentally started a fire and that fire

burned down a village.

Druid villages had oak trees in the center.

So when he started the fire,

it burned the village and the trees.

And in doing so, attached themselves in a way.
