=Episode 24=

Where did he go?

No idea.

That little Silver Gong.

We Copper Gongs have to look for him.

Xu Qi'an!

Ningyan!

He dropped it.

Let's go.

- Ningyan! - Ningyan!

Ningyan!

- Ningyan! - Ningyan!

Xu Qi'an...

Ningyan!

Ningyan!

Ningyan!

- Ningyan! - Ningyan!

It's confirmed the Commissioner of Yunzhou, Song Changfu,

colluded with The Witcher's Sect

in stealing tax silver to fund rebels.

Silver Gong Xu Qi'an solved this case

single-handedly.

He crushed the rebels with his team,

retrieved almost 150,000 liang of tax silver,

and destroyed The Witcher's Sect's scheme.

Unfortunately, he was ambushed and killed.

He devoted himself to our state

and safeguarded it with his life.

Xu Qi'an deserves a posthumous title of nobility.

I, Wei Yuan,

beg you, Your Majesty.

Xu Qi'an was a rare talent.

What a shame.

Mr. Wei's asking for a posthumous title for him.

What do you think?

Your Majesty,

he made the greatest contribution to this case.

He should

be rewarded.

Your Majesty,

objection!

Although he solved this case,

it doesn't change the fact

that he was of humble birth.

Giving his family a higher pension is enough.

A title of nobility is too much.

Please think twice, Your Majesty!

Your Majesty,

I agree with Vice Minister Xu.

Xu Qi'an was a mere Silver Gong.

Being killed in action was his honor.

Were he granted a posthumous title,

that'd make a nobody as great as the nobility.

We cannot

set such a precedent!

Don't you agree, gentlemen?

Yes.

That's right.

That's ridiculous.

Such a reward is over the top.

- Right? - Of course.

We can't allow it.

Lord Wei,

Xu Qi'an was a lowly Silver Gong.

Just give his family more...

You...!

You...

You... You... You...

Your Majesty,

Wei Yuan slapped officials in public.

He insulted you and the law.

He must be executed,

Your Majesty!

Why are you laughing?

Your Majesty,

I saw you laugh,

so I followed.

Father.

Father.

Silver Gong's body had been brought back.

It was escorted

to his home as you asked.

Rou,

you have three days to bring me

The Witcher's Sect's Border Defense Plan in the southwest.

After the autumn harvest,

I will

destroy that sect

at all costs.

Luckily,

it's not the New Year yet.

That senior on the east side hasn't left for his hometown.

Otherwise,

I don't know

who else can make the tablet.

Ningyan was away for so long.

He was exhausted.

Finally, he can rest.

(Beloved Son, Xu Qi'an's Tablet)

Lingyue,

take your mother back to rest.

I'll stay here with him.

No.

I'll stay with Ningyan.

Darling,

you haven't slept for days.

Come on. You need to rest.

You're the sliest boy.

Are you pulling another prank on us?

Are you?

Listen,

stop playing dead.

Don't think we'll cry for you again.

Did Ningyan

leave any last words?

My condolences.

Ningyan

died too young.

What a shame.

What a pity.

His colleagues want you to have this.

Lord Wei said

if your family needs help in the future,

go to the Guardian Yamen.

No prior notice is needed.

I thank Lord Wei.

I can't believe he died.

Miss, what are you doing?

Just to double-check it.

He wrote to me from Yunzhou,

saying once he retrieved the tax silver, I could leave the Municipal Office.

However,

the tax silver was back intact,

but he wasn't.

Everyone,

it's time

to let Ningyan

rest in peace.

Hang on a minute

Cijiu...

he hasn't come back.

Let's wait for him.

No need.

Bury Ningyan now.

Stop that cat in case

Ningyan becomes a zombie!

Xu Qi'an,

wake up.

(Where am I?)

(What's with the noise outside?)

(Who's calling my name?)

Lord Wei?

Follow me.

Yes.

Where exactly am I?

The Battle of Linyuan Pass.

Who...

are you?

(Shen Shu)

Who am I?

Yes, who am I?

Why am I in the Battle of Linyuan Pass?

The Battle of Linyuan Pass.

The Battle of Linyuan Pass?

What's that?

Didn't you bring it up?

I did?

But who am I?

You're one big...

fool.

I remember now.

Uh, sorry.

I was joking with you.

What... what's this?

We're

in his memory.

He?

Who's he?

This

is him.

Get lost!

Go away!

Get out! Out!

Get lost!

Go away!

Get out!

Over there...

Over here...

Get out!

He's moving.

He's a zombie!

A zombie!

(Peace and Happiness)

Water...

I need water.

I'm parched!

Ning... Ningyan,

do you have more last words to say,

or do you have any regrets?

Last words?

He's not a zombie.

His heart is beating.

The Gazing Spell can see him.

He's alive.

But how...?

Xu Qi'an

is back alive!

Ningyan!

Ningyan! Ningyan!

Ningyan!

- Ningyan! - Uncle!

I cried for nothing!

There, there. I'm fine.

Ningyan...!

(Haoqi Tower)

(The Witcher's Sect)

Father.

He floated in the canal for over 10 days.

Wait no more.

Have his family

bury him soon.

Father,

Xu Qi'an

is back alive.

Was that a dream?

But why did I have such a strange one?

Hello.

Xu Ningyan,

have you finished

the rest of the poem?

Soon.

Didn't you promise to work on it after the case?

It's been 10 days. Where were you?

Why didn't you return my message?

I was dead.

Xu Ningyan?

Xu Ningyan?

Hey,

since when are you addicted to being a cat?

Such a trifle doesn't matter.

What brings you here?

I heard you were killed in action earlier today.

I didn't believe it

and came to see for myself.

I knew it.

You were dead physically,

but I sensed subtle movements of your primordial spirit.

Then I gave you a hand

to bring it back to your body.

Thankfully, you came in time,

or I'd be buried alive.

I know, right?

Thank you

for saving my life.

It's an equivalent exchange.

You owe me one.

Yes, of course.

By the way,

did you see No. 2, Li Miaozhen, in Yunzhou?

She wasn't there.

When I asked,

she said she was on her way to the capital.

I had meant to ask her for help,

using her force to solve the case.

With her assistance,

I wouldn't have suffered so much.

Looks like you were doomed

to suffering.

I'll show myself out.

One more thing.

What is it?

Nice body.

(Guardians)

Summon Silver Gong Xu at once.

Lord Wei asks for him.

Yes.

There you are.

Others might think

Father has adopted another son.

Don't get in my way.

You should've died in Yunzhou.

He dodged my punch!

How come?

Lord Wei!

Greetings, Lord Wei.

Come.

I read Song Tingfeng's report,

saying you went missing after capturing the rebels.

You might've been killed.

But I know how skilled you are.

Most people can't kill you.

I wasn't sure what that was,

but it wasn't any rebel.

Xu Qi'an...

Xu Qi'an,

any last words?

Lord Wei,

I'm confused.

Was it Zhu Yang who killed me?

He's sorting evidence against the Guardians at the Ministry of War.

How could he have killed you?

Father,

His Majesty summoned you urgently.

The Ministry of War?

Zhu Yang?

Yes.

When you were in Yunzhou in the last three months,

he switched sides and joined them.

He, as a Gold Gong, accused us of corruption

and bending the law before His Majesty.

His Majesty ordered a thorough investigation.

Two Gold Gongs and a dozen Copper Gongs

were jailed by the Ministry of Justice.

That was to retaliate against me.

Are you affected, Lord Wei?

No.

That's a relief.

Father's playing along.

He's using Zhu Yang's attack

to clean house in the Guardian Yamen.

If that wasn't Zhu Yang,

what exactly did I see?

Hallucination.

Hallucination?

The 3rd-Rank Hypnotizer

of The Witcher's Sect

uses hallucination to kill.

Once hypnotized,

you'll be haunted by all the obsessions

and fears you had,

falling at his disposal.

Hypnotizer?

Lord Wei,

I'm a nobody.

It was beneath a 3rd-Rank Hypnotizer

to kill me. Why did he do that?

Had he meant to kill you,

could you sit here with me now?

Lord Wei,

I still don't understand.

Don't think too much.

As a Guardian,

just fulfill your duty.

Remember,

should the sky fall,

I'll hold it for you.

Yes.

Wait,

how did you come back to life?

Jinlian of the Realm Sect...

The Elixir of Life.

You took the Elixir of Life of the Astronomical Bureau.

If someone asks,

just say so,

understand?

Yes.

Good day, Lord Wei.

Wei Yuan,

stop lying.

Xu Qi'an couldn't have been

brought back to life by the Elixir of Life.

It's invaluable.

Even His Majesty failed to obtain one.

Never would the Bureau give it to Xu.

Whether or not that's true,

you may check with the Bureau,

Your Majesty.

Sure.

Have someone go there to confirm it.

Besides,

the title of nobility

is put on hold

for the time being.

Where's everyone?

They used to act like my buddies

but didn't come to my funeral.

Let's drink after work.

Go to the brothel!

Yes, of course!

You know what?

Someone saw Xu Qi'an just now.

- Saw him? No way. - Impossible!

His burial is today.

Could that be his ghost?

Ghosts can't come here.

- Hey, I... - Later. We aren't done yet.

Truth be told,

I never liked Xu Qi'an.

He beat me at gambling,

drinking,

and work.

I'm glad he died.

-Yes! - That's right.

Who is this?

Save your trick.

Who is this?

Xu...

Mr. Xu!

Mr. Xu's become a zombie!

Run!

A zombie!

Who was glad I died?

Him!

Was it you?

I'm sorry.

Alright, alright.

Mr. Xu...

Didn't you

die earlier?

Yes.

I forgot to introduce myself.

I'm Xu Qi'an's twin brother,

Xu Ba'an.

I'll take over his post by Lord Wei's order.

I have a question.

Where are those of the Breeze Hall?

They... they went to

Yunzhou.

Yunzhou?

Why did they go there?

Hearing your brother died there, Gold Gong Yang and Silver Gong Li

were grieved and furious.

They blamed themselves.

They gathered all their members before dawn

to go to Yunzhou.

They meant to avenge your brother's death

on all the rebels

and The Witcher's Sect.

It's all set.

Ningyan,

rest in peace!

We're going to Yunzhou

to wipe out the remnants of The Witcher's Sect

to avenge your death.

Mr. Yang,

we're ready.

Set sail.

You robbed others, huh?

You bullied others, huh?

You abused others, huh?

You assaulted others, huh?

Listen carefully.

If you do that again,

I'll break your legs.

We won't do it again.

Please spare us, Miss.

Get lost.

Yes, Miss.

Aren't you bold

to carry a saber again?

No, no.

It's yours.

All yours.

Master,

you're amazing!

You bet.

Let's go.

Good job. You've stopped injustice 88 times.

Be accurate.

It's 89 times.

I acted twice when passing by Mount Wushan.

You're the best!

However,

you're fighting constantly on the way.

When can we get to the Dafeng?

We could've arrived in three days by mount.

As of now,

we've wasted over three months.

Waste?

We didn't waste our time.

This trip is to see the world and train ourselves.

See the world?

I thought it was to solve my problem.

Yes, that too.

Your problem matters the most.

No. 3?

Yes, that's right. Four of my friends

sailed to Yunzhou.

Please keep an eye on them.

I'll let you know their looks later.

Yunzhou has been unsafe lately.

It is, right?

They mean to raid The Witcher's Sect.

What are they thinking?

If you find them,

tell them Xu Qi'an didn't die.

Don't act rashly and return to

the capital at once.

But I'm right outside the capital.

Don't worry.

I'll relay your message by a carrier pigeon.

Alright.

Wait,

when I arrive, I need a favor from you.

Where can I find you?

Find me?

What's wrong? You won't help me?

Don't forget you still owe me one.

I... I know.

You see, the Spring Exam is near.

I've been too busy studying at school

to see you.

How about you go to see my brother?

Your brother?

My brother, Xu Qi'an,

is a Guardian.

He's much better than me.

He's extremely smart,

and sharp.

Also, he's good-looking

- charming... - That's enough.

Where can I find him?

Just go to the Guardian Yamen.

Ningyan, Ningyan!

Caiwei is here to see you.

Sorry, I have to go.

Remember to relay my message.

No. 3?

No. 3?

He seems so unreliable.

We're doing our best to help him,

but look at him

pushing us to someone else.

How dare he brush me off!

Xu Qi'an, huh?

I'll show him what I'm capable of.

Let's go!

Beat more bag guys to vent my anger.

Make it 90 times then.

Caiwei,

what brings you here?

Taste it.

I'm here for two matters.

One,

don't go to the Bureau these days.

Hearing that you came back to life,

everyone at the Bureau was shocked.

They couldn't wait to see you,

but I stopped them.

So...

how did you come back to life?

I...

I took the Elixir of Life.

The Elixir of Life.

Do you even know what that is?

It takes the Bureau 60 years to make one.

If you're dying,

take that elixir and you'll live.

If those of the 7th Rank take it,

they'll reach higher ranks.

How could a humble Guardian like you

gain such an elixir?

Because

I...

Because I...

Because you

got it from me.

My master gave me this

when I first joined the Bureau.

It's been with me in this pouch

for 10 years.

So that's yours.

That leads to my second matter.

My Elixir of Life

is now yours.

I don't know why, but Master

had me bring it to you,

so here I am.

You have to pay me back.

If you invent other rarities

such as chicken powder,

you have to tell me.

It's an equivalent exchange.

You got it.

Thanks.

It's really good.

Give me the recipe later.

- No problem. - See you.

Wait.

What's this?

After taking the Elixir of Life,

your body will go through minor changes.

Take this medicine

to make up for what you lose.

Goodbye.

What will I lose, an arm or a leg?

By telling His Majesty

the Bureau gave Xu Qi'an an Elixir of Life,

Lord Wei

meant to test you.

That's fine.

Give it to him if he wants.

Xu Qi'an's resurrection

needs to be justified anyway.

After the Sangbo Case,

you pleaded illness to stay indoors.

Then the evil object was sent to Yunzhou.

After all that happened,

Lord Wei must've figured out your goal.

Never mind.

He's

also waiting for someone.

Looks like great minds

like you two are alike.

Just now,

I saw Xu Qi'an going here and there

as if he had forgotten everything.

Well,

he'll recall it.

Xu Qi'an!
