The final countdown to the summit...

...has begun.

Fourteen days ago,

sixteen Americans came to New Zealand, each of them

driven up the mountain for a different reason.

-Exploration... -JENNYE: I am here

to find out more about myself.

[shouts]

-MANU: ...courage... -[Jennye screaming]

Keep screaming if that's what you need.

-Yes! -AMY: You're not giving up.

BO: I'm taking on this challenge

to show that I still got it.

MANU: ...family...

TONY: I am here for my kids,

-I'm here for my wife. -PATI: I want to prove

-to my mom that... -[grunting]

...I could do it.

This would change my family's life.

I couldn't imagine coming home and telling my husband

-that I won it all. -NICK: Ready?

NICK: I got you.

AMY: And that's what keeps me going.

[shouts]

MANU: But not everyone succeeded.

And now,

with the summit in sight,

only four remain.

JEANNIE: Let's do this.

MANU: Jeannie is the last mother on the mountain.

Our kids are gonna look back at this and say,

"I can't believe my mother did this."

I've always been there for everybody, and now

I need this for me.

Who's got confidence now?!

MANU: Therron's gamer instincts

have proven indispensable during his ascent.

He's faced adversity in his life,

and conquered his fears on the mountain.

You see that? We did it.

I am going to be able

to destroy this adventure

because there's always worse.

-NICK: Good job, dude. -Thank you guys for not letting me quit.

MANU: As a former athlete, Nick's physical ability

has never been a concern,

but the soft mound of a baseball diamond

is nothing like the jagged peaks of this New Zealand mountain.

NICK: [grunts] I can't do it.

I've always felt like I have just came up short

of so many things in my entire life.

That was the hardest thing I've ever done.

This is the major leagues for me.

This may be one of my last shots to really make it.

MANU: Punkin has a brave past

that no one knows about.

One, two.

MANU: Her Air Force training has enabled her to soar.

BECKYLEE: [whoops] Good job, Punkin.

MANU: Her and her wife's dream of children

has created an unyielding resolve.

PUNKIN: We want to do IVF, and IVF

is very expensive,

and so, if I win that money,

it'll definitely go towards that.

MANU: Tonight,

the group enters the final, icy stretch.

-NICK: Last push, guys. -Who will conquer

thousands of feet and prove themselves worthy

-of reaching the summit? -THERRON: We're not gonna be able

-to go this way. -PUNKIN: Did we choose the wrong path?

MANU: And what will happen when the mountain's keeper

reveals a final test?

"In the end, they may be gone,

"but their money stays with the group.

The mountain's keeper."

MANU: And ultimately,

a shocking reckoning awaits.

-There's a twist. -DENNIS: We were waiting for that one.

MANU: ...when they face those

who they eliminated from the mountain.

This group is gonna decide how much money they take home.

Wow.

DENNIS: About dang time I got some power here,

'cause I'm here to ruin lives.

MANU: Because as I warned them...

-THERRON: You ready? -MANU: ...reaching the summit...

-PUNKIN: Oh, my God. -NICK: No way.

MANU: ...is only the beginning.

[Punkin screaming]

[wind whistling]

PUNKIN: It's the last day.

-JEANNIE: Yeah! -[Punkin whoops]

-NICK: Day 14. -JEANNIE: To the summit today.

Isn't that, like, almost surreal?

It's insane.

NICK: I'm nervous. I don't know

if we're gonna have to vote somebody out,

if we all four make it, if two or one of us make it.

There's just so many unknowns.

This is the major leagues, and anticipation

right now is killing me.

-Last night was our last night in a tent. -JEANNIE: Ah, yeah.

-THERRON: Thank the Lord. Yeah. -NICK: Let's get on the road.

-PUNKIN: Last night in a tent. -NICK: For life.

-JEANNIE [laughs]: Yeah. -PUNKIN: Today's hike

up to the summit is gonna be our hardest

that we've done yet.

-PUNKIN: We got this. -JEANNIE: We got this. -NICK: Let's do it, guys.

PUNKIN: On top of that, time is ticking.

THERRON: You ready?

JEANNIE: This is it, guys.

-The summit! -THERRON: [whoops] We're coming.

MANU: Starting on the valley floor, the final four

have battled an unforgiving gauntlet of obstacles

and conquered treacherous terrain.

Now, with only five hours left before their sunset deadline,

they must finish the last leg of their 14-day journey

by climbing a steep incline of deep snow

or risk losing

the near $750,000

in their backpacks.

However, one final test remains.

At this altitude, looks can be deceiving.

Sometimes when you think you've reached your goal,

the end is still so far away.

NICK: Damn, man. We're up here. It's hitting me a little bit.

JEANNIE: Since day one,

I've been, like, "The summit-- what would that

look like?" And I'm almost there.

NICK: Last push, guys.

JEANNIE: I keep falling through!

You got to have somebody in this game that you trust.

At least one person.

My loyalty's gonna be with Nick.

Sometimes, you just have to pick a person

that supported you from the beginning.

-PUNKIN: We just got to push, y'all. -NICK: Geez, I'm beat.

THERRON: I don't know if this is working,

but I'm trying to kick my toes in.

PUNKIN: After last night, when Beckylee said my name,

I am definitely questioning my relationships,

and I need to change my strategy.

-You got this, Punkin. -PUNKIN: I need to have trust in the people

that I'm playing this game with.

So, Nick telling me

Beckylee was coming for me

just really showed me that I'm good with him.

THERRON: My hands are frozen.

I am really happy with my position in this game right now.

I have a final two with Punkin, I have a final two with Nick,

and a final three with me, Nick and Jeannie, so...

if the unpredictable mountain's keeper throws in

some kind of twist, no matter what, I'll be safe.

And I absolutely think I can win this thing.

-NICK: You good, T? -[panting]

Not much more to go.

-PUNKIN: Last push, y'all. -NICK: This has to be the top.

-PUNKIN: We're almost there. -[grunts]

[panting]

[Nick grunts]

JEANNIE: Oh, my God.

That was exhausting.

What is this?

JEANNIE: What the hell?

-[groans] -NICK: I don't understand.

-NICK: What do we do? -I don't know.

-PUNKIN: Did we choose the wrong path? -JEANNIE: Yeah.

THERRON: We're not gonna be able to go this way.

JEANNIE: We cannot go down that.

[wind whistling]

MANU: Now, stopped on the edge of a cliff...

...an insurmountable valley

stands between the final four and the summit.

There's only so much room at the top,

and every decision

comes at a cost.

JEANNIE: What are we gonna do?

PUNKIN: Uh-oh.

-What? -JEANNIE: Oh, my God.

NICK: No way.

NICK: Oh, we're all attached.

-PUNKIN: Yeah, we're all tied up. -Yep.

-THERRON: Grab it. -JEANNIE: Oh,

I hope it's something to help us.

-THERRON: You got it? -[grunts]

-PUNKIN: All right. -NICK: Come on.

"Between you and the summit

"is an impassable chasm.

"The only way to cross is on a long line

attached to a helicopter."

-What? -"The first person you choose

"will cross with all of the money.

"Hold on tight, it's a hell of a ride.

-The mountain's keeper." -THERRON: Oh, my God.

JEANNIE: I say let's-- you want Nick to do it, or...

I would like to do it.

NICK: The mountain keeper's

kind of a little bit of a wild card, so...

I want to go first, but if I challenge Punkin too much,

and she still goes, she could be questioning

my loyalty to her,

so I have to be very careful how much I push

because it could cost me my game.

I would like to lead... if y'all trust me enough to...

-NICK: So one person holds the money? -It's... Yeah.

I mean...

You guys trust me?

Of course.

-PUNKIN: Yeah? -NICK: I'm good with whatever y'all want to do.

-JEANNIE: All right. -PUNKIN: We all got to reach the summit.

We have a small window to do it.

Okay.

My military background means that I am able

to be mentally resilient, and doing all these obstacles,

it's almost like my mission, and it's just something

that we have to do in order

to reach the summit in time.

Come on, P!

PUNKIN: I hold on to you?

THERRON: Punkin, you got this.

You can do this.

PUNKIN: Hold me tight, please.

[shouts, screams]

Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

Oh, this is crazy!

-Wow. -What

is happening?!

NICK: Wow!

[Punkin squeals]

-Well, there goes our money. -Yep.

PUNKIN: Ooh, ooh.

Oh, my God.

[gasps]

[whimpers]

[grunts, moans]

Oh, my gosh.

Testing, one, two, three. Punkin, how we doing over there?

[sighs]

THERRON: You in, P?

[panting]

This girl is not answering.

She's probably still getting the backpacks.

[grunts]

THERRON: Punkin?

PUNKIN: Hey, y'all.

I just landed safely.

Got the money.

-Give me a second. -Good.

THERRON: Thank you, Punkin.

"Enjoy your ride? It comes at a cost."

[exhales heavily]

"Use the radio to choose who will cross next.

"After crossing, that person will choose who is next.

"When there is one person left..."

[sobbing]

"When there is one person left,

"cancel the helicopter, leaving them behind

as payment for this crossing."

Punkin, let us know who's coming over next.

"In the end, they may be gone,

"but their money stays with the group.

The mountain's keeper."

Oh...

Punkin, can you hear me?

Punkin?

[wind whistling]

THERRON: Punkin, can you hear me?

PUNKIN: I have to call over the next person, and the last person

that's left is not going

to make it to the summit.

In my mind, I'm just going

through relationships that I've built.

[sighs] I think

I know what to do.

[over radio]: Nick, you're coming over next.

Go ahead and prepare for the long line.

Thank you, Punkin. He's on his way.

All right.

It's a tough decision,

but I know I just have to go with my gut,

and my gut was telling me Nick.

NICK: Let's go.

[groans, gasps] Don't look down.

JEANNIE: Oh, my God. This is so scary.

NICK: Damn, this is high.

[whoops, laughs]

[Nick groans]

Whoo!

-Thank you. -PUNKIN: There's a note.

There's a note.

NICK: "When there is one person left,

"cancel the helicopter,

PUNKIN: Yeah.

PUNKIN: It's not an easy decision to end someone's dream.

I owe Therron everything.

PUNKIN: Yeah.

Man, that's gonna kill Jeannie.

[radio chirps]

Hey, y'all, I've made it safely.

Who's coming over next?

[crying]: Therron, you're next. Prepare for the long line.

Gotcha. I'm on my way.

JEANNIE: We're all making it to the summit, right?

-Jeannie... -I heard him crying.

-Do not say that. -I heard him.

He was breaking up and... [sighs]

Nick called Therron over, and,

you know, he's, like... like, crying a little bit.

I just-- I keep thinking about what we did to Bo.

There's so many twists and turns to this game...

[Therron squeals]

[screams]

JEANNIE: ...that you get nervous every time you're left behind.

[Therron groans]

I just hope he calls my name.

Okay. I'm safe. I'm safe?

I'm safe. I'm scared, but I'm safe.

Oh, my God.

Whew!

[sobbing]

I know.

THERRON: This is gonna crush her.

Jeannie, this is Therron.

Please tell me some good news.

...and there's a note,

and the note says...

...that I have to cancel the helicopter

and I have to leave you behind...

[sobbing]: I'm sorry, Jeannie.

Who made the decision for the last person to come over

and bring that person over? Was it Nick?

Each person that landed chose the next person.

All right. I just thought you had my back.

[sighs]

It really sucks sitting up here, knowing I was so...

NICK: I would not have survived the Becky vote without Therron.

I owe him

for me still being here,

but nothing has changed with you and I, Jeannie.

I hope you know that.

Yeah, but...

...to take you out.

And I said I could never do that.

I was, like, 100% on your side.

You know that. [sighs]

I do know that, Jeannie.

And I've never questioned that.

[sighs]

Well, you made the decision,

and now I know where we stand.

[tone sounds over radio]

JEANNIE: It's heartbreaking.

Was I just a pawn in their game?

I really thought me and Nick were closer than that.

I was honest and loyal to him.

I guess he was closer to Therron than he was to me.

I was the oldest one here and I gave it my all.

And just to come here, to be here on top of the mountain,

so close, but not be able to reach the summit.

I'm just really disappointed

in myself and...

I'll be thinking about it for the rest

of my life.

[sniffles]

NICK: This decision

has been completely ripped from me,

and I have no control.

THERRON: This feels like blood money.

NICK: I would have taken Jeannie to the top,

no doubt about it.

PUNKIN: Let's go, y'all.

That was tough.

NICK: Jeannie, I hope you can forgive me.

MANU: The mountain now ends

another member's journey.

But for these final three everyday Americans...

...the summit is almost in reach.

Oh, my gosh, that is straight up, it looks like.

-That's steep. -Yeah, that's steep.

NICK: Yeah, we got it.

THERRON: Yeah. [exhales]

[Nick and Punkin grunt]

PUNKIN: Slowly but surely, we're making it.

Y'all, this is tough.

Yeah.

We didn't come this far just to come this far.

THERRON: We're almost at the top.

-What is that? -I don't know. I don't know.

-NICK: Is that a note? -PUNKIN: Another note.

THERRON: There's a note. Ugh.

No way.

Let's see.

All right.

"Mark this moment by writing a message

"on a mountain flag.

"Your message will be carried by the mountain's wind

"and bring good luck

-as you make your final ascent." -Whew!

No way, huh?

Oh, we...

Oh, man.

THERRON: At the beginning, I was super nervous

that I wouldn't be able to show

my full potential, so it's almost...

surreal that I'm about to be at the end of the journey.

"My sisters...

"my dad,

my brothers..."

I am an indoor gaming nerd,

but I was able to come out here and play with the best of 'em.

-Love it. -Love it.

-Thanks. -PUNKIN: All right.

[chuckles]

for always believing in me."

I was told many times that I wouldn't

be anything.

[crying]: And I've always fought

to prove people wrong.

I'm just really proud that I was able to be

that representation for the little boys

and girls that look like me.

Mine's obviously gonna be to

my mom and dad.

I feel like they've given me everything

for my whole life and...

I've came up short a lot.

And I'm glad to be able to change that conversation

from, uh, "Good effort, you came so close."

-To "You did it." -To now, "We finally made it."

I'm just picturing myself standing at the top.

This is something that's gonna basically complete me.

I want to finally finish something.

And obviously, y'all know.

We'll just go ahead and call her my future wife.

[both laugh, clamor]

And now "my future family."

That's really what I'm doing it for.

-Let's get those notes up there. -Okay.

[breathing heavily]

THERRON: Oh, my God.

PUNKIN: Oh, God.

THERRON: People do this for fun? [exhales]

PUNKIN: This is slippery!

THERRON: Don't fall!

[panting]

PUNKIN: Oh, my gosh.

THERRON: Get me up this thing.

[grunting]

Nick, come on up, baby!

THERRON: It's so pretty up here.

[Nick laughing]

Whoo!

[whooping, clamoring]

-[Therron laughs] -NICK: Man! -PUNKIN: We made it!

NICK: Congrats, man.

Congrats.

[exhales]

-14 days later, man. -14 days.

NICK: 14 days.

Y'all ready?

We made it.

NICK: Oh, who would've thought? [laughs]

The experience to go

through such hard times and just kind of

getting to know who you really are is life-changing.

And I think that this experience showed me

that everything that I've always thought about myself is true.

I was born for this.

-[all whooping] -THERRON: I came out here with a goal.

I accomplished that goal.

Where I come from,

people don't get a lot of opportunities.

And I've been very blessed

to get this opportunity to come out here

and compete and show the world who I am.

[all whooping]

PUNKIN: This does not compare to anything

I've ever experienced.

Good job.

But out here,

I've been able to just push through

every adversity, and...

it's one of the best feelings ever.

-[Nick sighs] -Hi.

[all three cheering, clamoring]

MANU: Down on the riverbed on the first day,

I looked at 16 people

who had no mountaineering experience.

14 days later...

Ooh.

...facing various obstacles

and fighting against the weather...

Yeah.

...you three prevailed.

But, guys, you reaching

the summit is not the end of your journey.

[groans]

On your way to the summit,

you had to judge people.

-[helicopter whirring] -Well, now it's time

for you to be judged.

"Never to cross somebody on your way to the top

because you might encounter them on the way back down"?

THERRON: Are you serious?

NICK: Damn. Didn't see that coming.

PUNKIN: Well...

THERRON: This is too much.

MANU: Those are the people you left behind.

BECKYLEE: Not a lot of us are fans of Nick right now.

JENNYE: Yeah, Therron is a snake.

I feel extremely betrayed.

BECKYLEE: I have some words for Punkin, too.

MANU: There's a little twist.

How much money you take home

lies in their hands.

I love that y'all in the hot seat.

It's not just about winning, it's how you do it.

-You lied to everybody. -NICK: Hold on a second.

-I feel hurt by you, Punkin. -Yeah.

that have been kicked off the mountain

is very scary.

We have no clue

what this twist in the game means.

14 days ago...

...I stood with all of you at the river

and I set you all this challenge of climbing a mountain

and reaching the summit.

Nick,

Therron,

Punkin, you three prevailed.

You three have earned yourselves...

The $250,000 that you carried to the summit

is yours to keep.

THERRON: I am shocked.

I just won $250,000!

[laughs]

It just doesn't feel real.

Nobody in my family has ever had this amount of money.

I don't even know what you can buy

with a quarter of a million dollars.

I only owe $22,000 in student loans,

so after I pay that off,

I'll have a lot of money.

[exhales]

MANU: You earned it

by carrying it all the way to the summit.

However...

...it came at a cost.

Your journey to the summit

meant voting these people off the mountain.

was left on the mountain by Bo,

Tony, and Dusty.

...is going to go to one of you.

is gonna be decided

by the group.

It's a lot of power, and I guess your decision

is the most worthy.

BECKYLEE: My wounds are fresh.

I'm ready to bring the fire to all of them,

so one last chance to make my mark on the game.

...when the helicopter came to get you,

I kind of felt, like, a sigh of relief.

I really thought you were gonna back me up.

Yeah.

I felt like you were my son, so I really trusted you.

I had so many dreams crushed of mine.

I'm 56, that was my chance...

for my dream to come true.

If you, for a second, think I wasn't planning

on taking you to the top...

...that does hurt me

'cause I think you know that that was genuine.

I called Therron over because I would not have been

in that decision if Therron did not tell me

that Beckylee was gunning for me the night before.

Therron risked his life in the game for me,

and I owed him one, and I just...

That was a debt that I had to pay.

[voice breaking]: That decision's gonna haunt me forever.

I'm the most hurt

by things I'm hearing about you, Nick, because

you never told me you wouldn't say my name, so I'll be clear

about that, but after that obstacle

we had together, you made me feel such a way

that I thought you had me until you couldn't anymore.

So my question to you is,

was your strategy...

...to deceive all of us in thinking

you had all of us until you didn't?

I'll make this clear.

I think what you're asking me is if I was genuine in it.

Every one of you, I can talk about your personal lives.

Rob, we sat there and talked in the tent

about raising your kids with the-the cell phone usage.

You were having a tough time. I asked you,

"How do you parent that in a time like that?"

Geoff, near-drowning experience,

to go back in the water the very next day

because you were not gonna let that haunt you.

Dusty, you got two older brothers that look up to you.

Pretty incredible.

BECKYLEE: We know you know about everybody.

-NICK: Yeah. -We're asking about your gameplay.

I appreciate you, and I know you're probably

stirring a lot of it up,

which, that's the biggest heartbreak.

Beckylee, you're gonna realize you had

one person that was absolutely always had your back.

You were in my final three...

-We know who were in your final three. -...until you crossed me.

You went to Punkin and Therron

to try to do a three-way vote

to get me out and go for Jeannie next.

-BECKYLEE: To protect my true ally. -NICK: You had your final three.

You weren't my true ally.

-I'm sorry if I was yours. -NICK: See?

So who's deceiving, who's not deceiving?

Can I say one thing? I love that y'all in the hot seat

'cause I was in the hot seat multiple times.

Nick, you reverted the target

off your back and you completely blamed me for it,

basically running my name through the mud,

and obviously you and Amy had two shakedowns

where you were super defensive.

You know, I feel like a lot of people here

think you did them truly wrong, so...

NICK: Yeah. With you, Dennis,

I think you did absolutely ruin

your own game. You did start saying every name

in the book to get it off your back.

You could have lasted so much longer.

PATI: What are you talking about?

You lied to everybody.

You're holding a grudge against me because

I had the toughest decision to make.

Morally, I'm not voting out a guy

that we put in the front.

You did it when you hugged everybody.

NICK: And you're fighting for them to win.

People did have to go, and I hated to see everybody go.

I was loyal to Therron from day one.

I said I'd never say his name.

Hurt to hear you say mine.

This is a game, y'all.

Think about who you are outside of it.

You had a pretty rough exit from the game. Sudden.

your decision proved to me that, instead of overcoming challenges

and trying to be a better leader than I was,

you would just remove me from the equation.

I was trying to be strategic to put myself in the best position,

and I'm the one that took all of the heat.

that last day fighting for you.

PUNKIN: Yeah, so... [sighs]

I heard you were saying my name.

I would have never thrown your name as a pawn,

and so, for you to throw my name as a pawn

really, really hurt me.

I never threw your name out

legitimately.

It was always us three, and I never questioned us three.

I never questioned it either until that moment,

and I started thinking back. Like, the Geoff vote,

you were cutting people that you knew I was close with.

How is that me and you working together?

Becky, I trusted you from day one,

and we worked together all the way until the end,

but in that moment I had to go with actions at that point,

and that was the toughest vote

I had this entire game, and it--

it still-- I'm hurt by that vote.

Punkin was gonna play an honest game.

Punkin always came to me, until she couldn't,

and let me know what was going on, and I appreciated that.

You played an amazing game.

I may not always agree with all the decisions you made,

but I respect the game that you played.

This is the moment
