[The Night is Still Young]

[Episode 1]

Report!

King Yan has rebelled!

Report!

King Yan has rebelled!

My lady,

King Yan has massacred the entire Shangguan family.

Now, to seize the Shangguan family's military power,

he's coming to take you away, as well!

He's already broken into the inner city!

Today is the wedding of the Fifth Prince and Miss Shangguan.

We must defend the city gates with our lives against King Yan!

Charge!

Ye Beichen,

you cruelly murdered my father

and massacred my entire Shangguan family.

Even if I die the cruelest death today,

I will make you pay blood for blood.

[Ye Beichen, King Yan]

Here comes the Fifth Prince.

[Prosperity and Peace]

Weiyang.

[Shangguan Weiyang]

Royal Uncle,

you plot to usurp the throne,

[Ye Mingxuan, Fifth Prince]

covet the military power,

forcibly take your nephew's wife,

and disregard human ethics.

Hand over Shangguan Weiyang,

and I might leave your body intact.

King Yan is committing treason.

His crime deserves death.

Show no mercy!

Ye Beichen,

even if you die ten thousand times,

it won't be enough to pay for the lives of my Shangguan family.

Ye Beichen,

how dare you poison me!

He has run inside. Search!

[Past Life]

Once you find Ye Beichen,

kill him on the spot!

Yes, sir!

Don't worry. They've already left.

Your Majesty, please issue a decree

to bestow Shangguan Weiyang in marriage to me.

Your Majesty, I am unwilling.

Thank you for your kindness, King Yan,

but I already have someone I love.

General Shangguan plotted to murder the Emperor.

The evidence is conclusive.

Throw him into the imperial prison!

Clearly, you framed my father

to seize the Shangguan family's military power.

Ye Beichen,

the deep blood feud between us

is irreconcilable.

Even if I fall into the endless depths of hell,

I will curse you for all eternity

to forever lose what you love and never find peace!

Lanterns!

Lanterns of new styles!

Come and take a look!

What's going on?

My lady!

My lady!

You're awake!

Yue.

My lady.

Yue!

My lady, what's wrong?

Yue,

why am I here?

Didn't you make an appointment with the Fifth Prince

to meet at the Lantern Tower?

Mingxuan…

What year is it now?

Today is the fifteenth day of the first month in the year of Jiayou,

the Lantern Festival.

The Lantern Festival in the year of Jiayou?

How did I return to three months ago?

How is this possible?

Could it be...

Could it be that I've been reborn?

My lady.

It's three months until my wedding

with Mingxuan.

Nothing has happened to the Shangguan family yet.

My father is still alive.

My lady.

My lady, what's wrong?

Yue,

wait here for Mingxuan for me.

Just tell him

I have an urgent matter and need to go back to see my father.

My lady.

It's him.

That's right.

I once saved his life during the Lantern Festival.

After that, we had little interaction.

But he repaid kindness with betrayal,

plotting against the Shangguan family behind our backs.

I only regret not being able to grind his bones to dust.

Now that I have a second chance,

I swear to change everything.

I will cut off the root of this fate,

protect my family,

and never make the same mistakes again.

Over there.

Tomorrow night is the Emperor's family banquet.

There can be no mistakes.

[General Shangguan]

Yes.

-Remember. -Father!

Here…

Father!

Father.

Weiyang?

Father!

I'm so glad you're alright.

Look at you.

You're engaged now.

Why are you still acting like a child?

What…

Why are you crying?

Did the Fifth Prince bully you?

I just had a nightmare.

I dreamed that we'd never see each other again.

Silly girl.

Am I not right here, safe and sound?

The position of Crown Prince has long been vacant.

Shangguan, what do you think of the Fifth Prince?

I do not align myself with any faction.

Please be cautious with your words, Lord Li.

Forgive my frankness,

but you and King Yan each hold a military tally.

He intimidates foreign states

while you command respect in the court.

Even if you wish to remain neutral and uninvolved,

it will be difficult.

Mingxuan.

Mingxuan.

I missed our appointment last night because…

It's alright.

You never need to explain yourself to me.

Oh, right.

I've specially kept something nice for you

in the ice cellar.

Wait here, I'll go get it.

Then, let's meet at our usual place later.

Mingxuan!

There's something I…

What?

Surprised to see me?

I didn't mean to disturb Your Highness.

I shall take my leave now.

You're quite good at avoiding me.

This is my first time meeting Your Highness.

How could I be avoiding you?

First time?

Then, who do I have to thank for the wounds on my body?

I don't understand what you're talking about.

Then, let me help you remember.

Your Highness, please restrain yourself.

I am already engaged to Mingxuan.

I am to be your future niece-in-law.

So what if you're my nephew's wife?

Harassing your nephew's wife in broad daylight,

aren't you afraid of being ridiculed by everyone?

I couldn't care less.

What exactly do you want?

You dare to attempt to assassinate me.

How should I punish you?

The one who tried to assassinate you that day was clearly an assassin.

It has nothing to do with me.

Oh, really?

So, you've stopped pretending, huh?

You...

Fifth Prince.

Get out of my way.

Fifth Prince.

Get out of my way!

You can't go there.

-Weiyang! -Let go of me.

Weiyang!

Let go!

Move aside!

Let go!

Weiyang!

Let go of me!

Weiyang!

Weiyang.

Let go.

Let go.

Weiyang.

Uncle?

Why has the Fifth Prince forgotten his manners?

Uncle, why are you with Weiyang?

So what?

Uncle, you've just returned from the northern frontier.

You don't know yet

that I already have someone I love.

She is General Shangguan's only daughter,

Shangguan Weiyang.

Weiyang,

you should address him as Uncle, too.

Uncle.

Mingxuan.

I disturbed Uncle by accident.

Let's go.

Alright.

Try this.

Is it good?

It's a rare delicacy from the foreign tribute.

I knew you'd love it.

Mingxuan.

I heard there will be fireworks at today's family banquet.

Could you have them removed?

Why?

The fireworks are dazzling and colorful.

Don't you like them?

Save the Emperor!

[Past Life]

The previous fireworks incident

gave Ye Beichen an opportunity to claim credit.

What reward do you desire?

[Emperor]

I request Your Majesty to issue a decree

to bestow Shangguan Weiyang in marriage to me.

I've heard

that a few days ago, fireworks caused a fire in the suburbs,

resulting in casualties among some vagrants.

We should be more cautious about the family banquet in the palace.

Such dangerous items

really shouldn't be present.

Weiyang.

The items used in the palace are certainly safe.

You don't need to worry.

Mingxuan,

have you forgotten New Year's Eve

when I was almost injured by firecrackers?

Now, whenever I hear fireworks,

I have nightmares.

Could you order the fireworks display to be removed,

please?

Alright.

Alright.

[Humble as Bamboo]

Thanks to King Yan for guarding the border.

Foreign countries fear and respect his prestige.

Every January,

they present these numerous rare treasures,

allowing us the fortune to admire this glass vase.

-Yeah. -Yes.

It's nothing but borrowed power.

Foreign countries submit to His Majesty's dragon might.

Father,

[Third Prince]

this scene inspires me to compose a poem.

It goes:

♫The winds rise, and the geese return in rain-soaked furs♫

The Emperor's longevity brings blessings to all.

♫In the capital, carriages and horses are slow♫

Dragon's power protects the nation for a thousand autumns.

♫I can't undo my love for several lifetimes♫

His Majesty's light shines upon the world.

The Emperor's virtue is praised in all directions.

Excellent, excellent, excellent.

♫Entangled in love and hate, love is hanging by a thread♫

The fireworks have been canceled.

♫I hate to not look at your eyes♫

♫I ask under the moon, in front of the city tower♫

Your third brother and sixth brother

are over there composing poems

to please the Emperor.

♫She's in red♫

Shouldn't you hurry over?

♫We meet with fierce glares and end all grudges with one word♫

Let them compete among themselves.

♫The sharp sword in the heart says farewell to the empire♫

I just want to

stay here with you.

♫We've parted in this life; let's meet again in the next life♫

Come, let's go enjoy the moon.

The fireworks this year are really impressive.

You're behind this, aren't you?

Watch out!

Protect the Emperor!

Protect the Emperor!

Your Majesty, this way!

Protect the Emperor!

Let's see how you can stir up trouble now.

Father, be careful!

Mingxuan!

Your Majesty,

the Fifth Prince's back was burned by sparks.

I have applied a cooling and healing salve.

He only needs to rest for a few days to fully recover.

You may leave now.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Father.

Mingxuan,

you have done well in protecting me.

I shall reward you generously.

Tell me, what do you want?

Father,

Weiyang and I are in love.

Father, please choose an auspicious date

for our wedding.

Since you two are in love,

your marriage

should indeed be put on the agenda.

I will allow you to marry in three months…

Your Majesty!

Your Majesty,

the fireworks incident was not an accident.

Someone deliberately planned it.

I just inspected the fireworks launching device.

Someone indeed tampered with it.

We need to investigate this matter thoroughly right away.

What?

Someone dares to attempt to harm me?

Mingxuan,

go and investigate this thoroughly.

Yes, Father.

Father.

My dear daughter,

the weather is so nice today.

Why haven't you gone out to enjoy it?

Father, I just wanted to spend more time with you.

Oh, you.

Master. My lady.

A decree has arrived from the palace.

By the grace of Heaven, the Emperor decrees:

Shangguan Weiyang, daughter of General Zhenyuan,

virtuous, graceful, kind, and honest,

[Imperial edict]

is hereby betrothed to King Yan, Ye Beichen.
