[ethereal music]

[seagulls squawking]

[horse whinnying]

[horse neighing]

[triumphant music]

[whooping]

Whoa, Columbus.

Come on, Columbus.

We can do this.

[neighing]

Come on, come on!

Faster, Columbus, come on!

Faster!

[screaming]

[horns honking]

- BOY: Mom! - Yeah?

Is there a McDonald's in Longwood?

I doubt it. It's a very small town.

There'll be one in Dublin, I guess.

That's nearby, yeah?

WOMAN: Yeah.

Give or take 200 miles.

[sighs]

[humming]

Never give up, Danny.

Mickey? Where are you?

Mickey...

Our plane leaves at 9.

[sighing] Okay. I'll help.

I don't need any help.

- I've got all I'm taking. - One tiny suitcase?

Why not?

This'll be good for all of us.

It's Ireland, not the end of the world.

Being here with Columbus, that was good.

New York, that's good.

This is our home and you're taking us away.

I can't afford the rent anymore,

and now we finally have our own home.

And I'm not even allowed to ride.

You'll get to ride again, as soon as your leg-—

Leg heals, yeah, yeah. Doctor's orders.

I didn't break it on purpose, you know.

It was my job to look after Columbus.

What will I tell Daddy when he gets back?

How will he find us now?

[music box playing]

[crying softly]

[exciting music]

The end of the world.

Well, that's unusual.

Okay, alright.

Well, at least it's got character.

A house from the past.

Passed away, more like.

[thunder]

Come on.

It's gonna be a great adventure.

Okay, I want to explore it from top to bottom.

Or maybe I'll go from bottom to top.

[rain falling]

[mysterious music]

Mickey! Mickey!

Look! Look what I found.

"“A Ninny's Journal."” What's a ninny?

"“Nanny,"” numbskull. You're a ninny.

Mickey...

I pick the slingshot.

You could get things ready for school, you know.

Or go for a walk.

Or, God forbid, help me.

You know that letter we got?

How come Aunt Sonia lived in Chicago

but had a house here in Ireland?

- And why leave it to us? - I told you, I don't know.

Dad never mentioned her.

I guess there was no one else.

You're really lucky, you know.

We inherit a house from a complete stranger,

and you drag us halfway across the world,

to this.

Lucky us. I want to go home.

This is our home now, Mickey!

Get used to it.

This will never be my home.

[shattering]

[humming]

- Mickey. - It wasn't me!

Oh, what's the point?

[eerie music]

[whooshing]

[indistinct whispering]

[whooshing intensifies]

[horse neighing]

What...?

[soft piano music]

The vane.

I know, Ben.

I know.

Just like last time.

He's returning.

[horses neighing]

It's time to end this.

It's time.

[children clamoring]

- Whatever. - Alright, see you.

Chardonnay, I saved you a seat.

There's only one Chardonnay this time, pal.

[chuckling]

Miss Lemon?

- Colin. - You're looking lovely today.

Ah, there she are.

Colin, my man...

What should we do?

A: Ask 'em to move...

...or B: Make 'em move.

Awesome.

Seanny has found himself a friend.

Move over, Curly.

This is my seat...

- [chuckling] ...love. - Leave him alone.

Zip it, shorty. [grunts]

Punks.

We walk.

Great.

Suit yourself.

Okay, but if you want to get home before dawn,

I suggest you go this way.

[horse neighing]

[mysterious music]

Hey, wait up! I'm Mickey.

Thanks for asking.

So where's the cool place to hang out in Longwood?

WOMAN: I'm telling you, Mayor,

he was there, and then he was gone.

I saw him.

- With my own eyes. - Really, Lily, are you sure?

Of course I'm sure. I know what I saw.

- It was him. - Sean.

Well, the mount's been dead for nearly 300 years.

Well, he ain't dead no more!

Gone for 25 years, but he's back.

All in black on his jet-black horse,

his massive cape swinging behind-—

That's what I saw.

Oh, dear. It's contagious.

[crow cawing]

SEAN: The Black Knight doesn't exist.

- How do you know? - 'Cause that's for kids,

and nutters like Lily in the library.

What is that place?

Longwood Castle, home of the Black Knight.

- Really? - Of course not.

It was Lord Longwood Dumanceau's castle.

Who lives there now?

Lady Thyrza Longwood Dumanceau.

Cracked dowager.

Huh?

Some people say she's a witch, right?

I thought you didn't believe in that stuff.

I don't.

- Let's check it out. - I've gotta go.

Why? Afraid something's gonna get you?

Maybe. But not what you think.

[gate creaking]

[horses neighing]

[horse whickering]

[horse neighing]

[triumphant music]

[soft piano music]

[knocking at door]

I found this little whip in Silver Stable.

Such an intelligent face.

That's fine, Ben.

I'm Thyrza Dumanceau.

I know.

So you know I'm crazy?

Let me show you something.

Lord Cillian Maelish Robertus Longwood Dumanceau.

My great-great-great- granduncle.

Better known as the Black Knight.

You've seen him?

[eerie music]

Come.

Sit down, dear.

Lord Longwood Dumanceau controlled this town,

and all the land around as far as the eye could see.

Lord Longwood's wife, Lady Ashlyn, gave him a daughter...

[baby crying]

- Madelyn. - LONGWOOD: Madelyn.

THYRZA: A happier man was never seen.

But Madelyn was just a baby when Lady Ashlyn died.

[bells chiming]

From that day on a dark shadow dominated Lord Longwood's life.

The kind man the villagers knew had changed utterly.

[horse galloping, dramatic music]

The peasants were forced to hand over their harvests

to feed his army.

The weak began to die.

The villagers kidnapped Madelyn,

and gave the lord an ultimatum.

LONGWOOD: A couple of cartfuls of offal?

Is that all my daughter is worth?

THYRZA: A young boy was chosen to return Madelyn.

[baby cooing]

This boy had love in his heart.

LONGWOOD: Take it!

THYRZA: The starving villagers rushed to the carts,

but they did not contain food.

A villager snatched Madelyn.

LONGWOOD: No! Madelyn!

THYRZA: A fire started. [horse neighing]

BOY: Run!

THYRZA: The boy went to save the children.

[children screaming]

The Black Knight disappeared.

His body was never found.

From that day on...

Our town has been cursed.

[ominous music]

The boy and the other children died in the fire.

Seven children.

And the very next day seven horses appeared on this land.

The ghost of the Black Knight comes and goes.

No one knows when he will appear, or why.

But when he does...

Terrible things happen.

He will never rest until he finds his daughter.

And you are... [door opening]

Oh, for goodness' sake,

it's so unhealthy in this darkness.

So threatening. Now, perfect.

I brought you some of my wedding glossies

to help you pass the... Oh, you've got a visitor!

Caitlin Lemon.

Mark Dumanceau's fiancee.

Mickey.

- As in mouse? - As in Miller.

- Mickey Miller. - Oh, yes, you're the new girl.

I'm new here, too.

What a coincidence.

[scoffs] Three months already, dear.

Caitlin is from the town.

Mark is my only nephew.

Three months.

How time flies.

There's no such thing as coincidence.

You must come back soon, Mickey.

Time is precious.

[ominous music] [galloping]

[baby fussing]

Run!

Daddy?

[music box playing]

[crows cawing]

BOY: Cup of tea, mayor?

- Norbert. - Yes?

You and me are going to put this place back on the map.

Are we?

What's this?

Um... A very old newspaper?

Wrong. This is called business.

The hotels were packed all year round.

Everybody hoping to catch a glimpse

of the legendary Black Knight,

wildly galloping across the fields,

- forever seeking-— - The missing girl?

- There was no missing girl. - Dead pensioner.

A car plunge.

The driver was poleaxed; the pensioner was 103!

The girl ran away!

For God's sake, don't believe everything

you read in the newspapers!

Norbert! There is no Black Knight.

But then, the tourists don't know that.

Thyrza told me herself. This town's been cursed

- since the day of the fire. - Thyrza?

Remember? Bats?

Longwood's just another kick.

And Irish people like being unhappy.

- It makes us laugh. - Are you happy?

No. Are you?

In this weirdo creepoid dump?

When my dad comes back he'll take us home to New York.

Where is he?

In Egypt, somewhere.

On an expedition. He got lost in a storm.

When?

Four years ago.

And you think he's coming-—

He's coming back.

You go. I'll see you tomorrow.

[melancholy music]

[knocking]

Hello. You again.

I cam to see Thyrza.

Oh, dear... Poor child.

I'm afraid she passed away.

[sad music]

Yes, Mark, my fiancee-— he's a cardiologist-— found her.

There was absolutely nothing he could do.

She died in her sleep. It's awful.

But I only just met her.

Well, isn't that lovely?

Now, I'm sorry, but we are a family in mourning.

Goodbye.

[door locking]

[horse neighing]

I just heard.

Thyrza seemed cool.

Mind that hatch.

[horse neighing]

Shh... It's okay.

There's a good boy.

There.

It's okay.

Do you think he knows?

They all know.

How many of them are there?

Seven.

Seven.

Like the legend.

There's always seven.

One gets born...

and soon one dies.

They're wild.

Unpredictable.

Silver's the special one.

Can I ride him?

Are you crazy?

Only Silver decides that.

You saw.

He likes me.

Can I ride him?

[soft piano music]

[happy music]

[triumphant music]

Silver, what are you doing? Where are you going?

[horses whickering]

No, Silver, let's go back.

No, come on! [neighing]

BOY: Seven children died. Seven grays arose.

No! Make it stop!

Where the children died, the Black Knight rages.

THYRZA: There is one, only one who can do this.

Break the spell. Get to the manuscript.

Thyrza!

[loud neighing, thud]

[mysterious music]

[horse whickering]

I know you're gonna think I'm crazy-—

- Who is it? - No one.

- But I just saw Thyrza. - Thyrza's dead, remember?

- Look, you can't come here. - She said I need to break the spell.

The Longwood curse. Only I can do it.

There must be more stuff in the manuscript.

- You're gonna save Longwood? - MAN: Sean!

It's nearly 9, the shop'll be closed!

Look, you Americans, you come to Ireland

and you see ghosts and faeries.

What'll it be next? Leprechauns?

Ever since I arrived here,

strange things have been happening.

You just don't notice it anymore because

- you've lived here so long. - Sean!

I need some beer! Will you get going?

My father is Irish,

so technically I'm only half American.

MOM: Listen, pumpkin, this gig is a big opportunity for me.

- Okay? - I know, I know.

Don't sit there.

- Right. - What a lovely house.

Actually, it's a castle.

Now, the flowers.

For the coffin I'd like a wreath of red and white carnations,

- in full bloom. - Yes.

I would like lilies down the aisle of the church,

and outside I would like some garlands of red roses.

Red roses. Very tasteful.

I have wonderful ideas.

You... You should do our garden.

Oh, I'd love that. [ominous music]

What are you doing here?

I was looking for the bathroom.

In Thyrza's desk? Mommy!

Oh, it must be so easy to get lost...

In a castle.

[grunting]

- I'm sorry. - So sorry.

Excuse me, I'm sorry. Hi. Mark Dumanceau.

- Lisa Miller. - Nice to meet you.

My condolences.

Oh, thank you.

Mark, love, would you sign Lisa's quote?

- Um... Oh, sure. - For the flowers.

Sure, sure, sure. [phone ringing]

Hello? Yes, no, just...

Just-— Just change the time to Wednesday.

Thank you.

No, thank you.

- What were you doing? - Nothing. I got lost.

MARK: Caitlin?

[page tearing] Coming!

Caitlin, where are my keys?

Have you seen my wallet?

[crows cawing]

NORBERT: Your permit was rejected, mayor.

MAYOR: What?!

That race is the cherry on the icing

of my metaphorical cake, and it goes ahead.

[door opening]

Miss Lemon.

- "“Li-mon."” - "“Leh-mon"”

No, "“li-mon."”

- Lemon. - Norbert. Manners.

Nice rags.

So... The old lady snuffed it.

- You have the drawings? - Of course.

Business as usual.

You sorted your end out?

No, do you have the 2 million for the land?

Okay, I don't have the money right now,

but I know a man who does.

But he's a player and if we want to make this thing happen

we've got to speed things up a bit.

Catch the train. You know what I mean?

Well, I can't do anything until I'm married.

You know that.

Okay.

I worked this out on the premise that you...

sell me the 200 acres.

My hotel is here. My golf course is here.

[groans]

Okay.

For you, m'lady.

The castle, totally transformed.

[gasping]

Out go the stables, the meadows,

in comes the swimming pool, the tennis courts.

- It's perfect. - Not bad, huh?

One minute you're all scrubbing floors,

The next you're marrying a baron.

Leave my family out of this.

And he's an earl.

Not a baron. Moron.

I, Thyrza Magdalena Michaela Florentine Longwood Dumanceau,

declare this to be my last will and testament.

I bequeath all of my property of every description

whatsoever and wheresoever situated to my grandnephew,

Mark Phillip George Longwood Dumanceau.

Oh, there is one condition.

Neither the house nor its lands may be sold,

nor interfered with in any way other than routine upkeep,

for as long as my stableman Ben Saunders

and/or any of my precious horses are extant.

Extant?

Alive.

MAN: I now entomb the body of Thyrza

Magdalena Michaela Florentine Longwood Demanceau

with her beloved family. May she rest in peace.

Amen.

Amen.

Excuse me.

[rumbling]

THYRZA: Danger.

The horses. The horses are in danger.

Find the manuscript.

Told you. You need brains to fix that.

[scoffs] Oh, God, it's the Yank.

What are you looking for now, Sherlock?

Nothing, really. I just came to see-—

Then I need you here. Settle him.

I really think that you should-—

I really think that you should...

[tsking]

Otherwise your mother will never work for us again.

Come on, Colin.

Want to see a real woman in action?

Look behind you, shorts.

Stand.

Stand!

[horse whinnying] [Chardonnay screams]

[chuckes, clears throat]

- Are you alright? - Mommy!

CAITLIN: She might as well have left the estate

to those bloody horses and that twit Ben!

As long as they're alive there's nothing we can do.

MAYOR: Well, I can't have a herd of wild horses

running around my golf course.

- They'll ruin the grass. - I dreamed of this my whole life!

[crows cawing]

We can build nothing, change nothing, touch nothing.

As long as those precious beasts are alive.

Are you really going to let a little hiccup like this

get the better of you?

You'll find a way to take care of it.

Sean, I need to show you something.

You'll see that I was right.

There.

"“One was taken ne'er to be found.

"“One will be haunting this sacred ground."”

That's about baby Madelyn and the Black Knight.

It could be anything. Let's go.

Look.

It's the same symbol as my amulet.

My father gave me this when I was a baby.

It was passed down through the generations.

So? Coincidence.

There's no such thing.

Come on. We need to know more.

You're doing that weird thing again.

Where are the local history records?

You want to know all about the Black Knight, don't you?

I want to know too, but we have no records.

They were all lost 25 years ago in the fire.

[door opening]

The whole library burned to the ground.

Nothing left but dust.

A girl disappeared.

[mysterious music]

Do you know the most amazing thing?

People saw the Black Knight right in the heart of the inferno

but he didn't burn, not even a blister.

Even his cape didn't catch fire.

We need Thyrza's manuscript.

Not we. You.

No.

Caitlin and Chardonnay will be watching me like hawks.

- You'll have to go into the house-— - I have to go.

I'm already late.

- Don't be such a baby. - I have to be home.

My father.

You wouldn't understand.

Why wouldn't I understand?

I do understand. I do understand!

[door opens and closes]

LILY: Danny, turn your light off

and put that slingshot away!

DANNY: Okay, okay!

Poor Danny.

He tries, but I'm not sure he'll ever

get the nick of that slingshot.

Was Aunt Sonia married?

I don't know.

Well, did she have family here or did she just holiday here?

[chuckling] I really don't know, Mickey.

You know as much as I do.

What did the letter say?

Nothing.

It was from a lawyer in Dublin.

Legal stuff about the house being left to us.

That's all.

Danny!

"“Lord Longwood is so delighted with little Madelyn.

"“Each night he sings her 'The Fairest Girl of the Light.'"”

[ethereal music]

[man singing 'The Fairest Girl of the Light']

[baby giggling]

[mysterious music]

CAITLIN: Still can't find the bathroom?

Maybe next time hide your bike.

- Where's the manuscript? - What manuscript?

What are you doing sneaking around my house?

Where's the desk, then?

I gave it to the auction house in the town,

together with the rest of the old junk.

Now get out of my house. Capite?

That's Italian for "“Understand?"”

It's capito.

[ominous music]

Come on, darling.

[melancholy music]

[neighing]

[suspenseful music]

LONGWOOD: I'm coming for you.

[breating heavily]

BOY: Run.

Run!

[baby crying]

[woman yelping] [baby crying]

[galloping] [horse whickering]

I'm not what you want.

I'm not the one you're looking for!

[sword ringing]

THYRZA: Mickey...

- Mickey. - Thyrza, help!

The diary. In the diary.

[singing 'The Fairest Girl of the Light']

Why am I here again?

Because, well, you're my legs.

And because you're my friend.

Come on, you're the one with the legs.

There.

The desk at the top.

Of course. Where else would it be?

I hate heights.

Don't look down. Just keep going.

[clattering and yelling]

I feel dizzy.

Quick! Get the manuscript.

I feel really dizzy.

[shouting and clattering]

I can't get caught, okay?

It'll be alright. Just hide.

- I'll take care of it. - MAN: Who are you?

What is going on with you?

MICKEY: I didn't mean to cause any trouble.

- I was just looking for-— - I don't want to hear it.

Go to your room.

The desk broke. It was on the floor.

The Legend of Longwood.

By Lathy Timber.

Sean... Thanks.

Look... My dad...

He's different from other dads.

He's okay, but...

He stayed around for me when my mom left.

He's still your dad. You're still his kid.

I know.

- Night. - Night.

[ominous music]

Well?

My amulet is gone.

I was sure I left it on my bedside table.

It'll turn up.

Savage pictures.

Whoa.

There's a page missing.

Ok. Sock it to me.

- Just the facts. - Okay, so...

You know the seven children

that died in the fire in the stables?

Thyrza noted all the names.

Fact. America, one point.

It's their voices I'm hearing.

The same words in the book.

Dead children's voices?

Fiction. America, zero points.

You want facts?

They're right here.

One was born, one has died.

One was grieved, the faithful denied.

One was taken, never to be found,

BOTH: One will be haunting this sacred ground.

Same words as in the crypt.

That's about Madelyn.

She disappeared, but she didn't die.

So what happened?

Seven children died. Seven graves arose.

Seven stones closed.

Seven protect what's lost. Blood will flow.

What's that?

Thyrza said that every time the Black Knight comes,

something terrible happens.

The names must be named.

The spell must be broken to redeem the ashamed.

I'm not too sure about that, either,

but the seven stones in the meadow

must be the children's graves.

And seven protect what's lost. The seven horses!

But it's more.

It's like the horses are the children's souls.

That explains why I always hear the voices

when I'm around them.

And they're wild and never at ease because

they can't rest until this mystery is fixed.

Just like the Black Knight.

Thyrza said they're in danger.

Why?

What will happen if something happens to the horses?

There might be something more on the missing page.

"“The names must be named."”

Thyrza's list.

The children's names.

We must put their names on the stones.

Ireland, ten points.

[engine revving] [muffled pop music]

[groaning]

[distant neighing]

Beasts!

- Hernanda. - Caitlin, oh.

Such history.

Eh... They all give me the creeps.

They're Mark's family.

Otherwise I'd have torched them by now.

[chuckling] Shall we?

Now, I found a great champagne

which we'll serve at one.

[speaking French]

That means "“the ceremony."”

Drinks at 4. Dinner, ten courses.

9:30, the band. They are fabulous.

[laughing] And then the icing on the cake.

Spectacular fireworks at 12.

Perfect. [knocking]

Excuse me.

- What? - I only need one signature.

The earl's, not yours!

But I want it pronto.

Otherwise our investor's a goner.

MARK: I understand what you're saying,

but just tell the hospital... [neighing]

- And the horses-— - I'm working on it, now go!

Guests of honor.

A vintage car race.

A real earl.

- It's my destiny. - I'll leave you with our contract,

to deal with as promptly as you like.

- Perfect. - Oh, what a mess.

Who's that?

[laughter]

- It's just the garden. - Only the garden?

[happy music]

There. "“The names must be named."”

Nothing's happening.

This is useless.

Come on.

Maybe they just need some time.

Maybe they're waiting for you to redeem the ashamed.

How do I do that?

I have no idea.

[thunder rolling]

[melancholy music]

[children giggling]

Fancy that one?

Eh, that could create a distraction.

Well... Brace yourself.

Oh, God. Can't this wait?

I'll have to give it back to Hernanda.

She's threatening to walk.

- Thanks. - Hey, look, I'm sorry.

You're doing everything; I'm just...

I'm happy. It's our big day.

Oh...

[sighing heavily]

A vintage car race around these narrow roads?

- Madness. - Oh.

I hadn't looked at it that way.

[crow cawing]

- Greetings, my lord. - Are you crazy?!

- This is a covert operation. - Yeah.

- Sorry, boss. - Contain yourself, Norbert.

Race day is just around the corner.

Think of the crowds there, huh?

The press!

We don't want to throw away our trump card

on a three-legged dog on Halfast Road, do we?

- I-— - What about the horse?

The horse is in the parlor. [laughing evilly]

- Hi. - Hi.

[flies buzzing]

What's wrong?

Have you been outside?

There's mud everywhere.

It's our wedding and there's mud!

And horse...

Horse... everywhere! [crying]

I'm sorry, it's just...

There's so much to do and...

I'm doing everything, and...

[crying]

Can we just leave the garden, please, Mark,

just for now, please...

Could you tell Lisa? It's all so upsetting!

[birds squawking]

- Good morning. - Hi.

How are you?

- Very well, thank you. - Good.

Good, good. Listen.

We've had a bit of a rethink about the garden

and we really think we're going to put the project on hold for the moment.

So there's no need to rip out that stuff today, if that's okay.

MARK: Thanks, you did great work.

So just invoice me and I'll get back to you. Bye.

[festive music blaring]

MAYOR: Colin? Colin! Come on!

Come over here. Family photo, big smile.

Thanks for that.

[neighing] [gasping]

Ben!

Good morning, ma'am.

Sorry to disturb you but

would you check the gate by the road?

- Make sure it's closed. - Oh, sure.

Could you do it now?

The horses...

Those cars'll be racing right past the castle.

- Here. - Of course, of course!

Thanks, Ben!

[festive music blaring]

Big smile!

- Beautiful. - MAYOR: Look at the car!

Now back to me.

Norbert! What are you doing?

- Get over there. - Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[microphone feedback]

Good afternoon, everybody.

As Mayor of Longwood...

I would like to welcome you all...

Hi.

...to this, our inaugural vintage car race!

In about 15 minutes' time,

history will be created...

In this, our proud town. [cheering]

Dear, I left the binoculars in the car.

- Oh, I'll get them. - No, certainly not.

It's most important that you're here.

MICKEY: So what did happen to baby Madelyn?

SEAN: Okay, so it was 1739.

The first famine.

People starving.

Terrible diseases. No transport.

No way out.

So the most logical thing is

she grew up with a family here in the town.

Maybe some of Lord Longwood's relatives

did come searching.

But isn't one baby just like another?

But everyone in the town must have known

who she really was.

They kidnapped her.

They would have had their heads chopped off

if anyone else found out.

They were desperate.

Well, it all ended in a terrible tragedy.

Lord Longwood and seven innocent children died.

They had a reason to keep it all secret.

So Madelyn probably never even knew

she was Lord Longwood's daughter.

I mean, people were so poor those days.

Where would have been the best place

for her to survive?

- In a farm? - Or mill.

A mill, yes! That's the connection!

She grew up here.

- We're the Miller family. - And Madelyn...

is your great-great- great-great grandmother!

- Yes! - I was joking.

Get real.

I'm leaving. Can't concentrate.

[exciting music]

[thunder rolling] Ben, wake up.

I can't find the horses.

Ben? Ben!

[suspenseful music]

Longwood is ready to race!

[engines revving] And who better to set us off

than the true gentleman himself:

Lord Longwood Demanceau! [cheering]

[suspenseful music]

[distant starter pistol]

[engines revving]

Come on, come on, Silver!

The horses.

[neighing]

Hurry, Silver. Go on!

Come on, come on.

Okay, now jump!

[snapping] [neighing]

Come on! Go, go, go!

[engine roaring]

Stop, stop, stop!

Silver.

What...?

What in the name of-—

I was saving the horses. The gate was open!

That's impossible. I gave Ben clear instructions.

You crippled my horse.

What?

He's not your horse, he's Thyrza's horse.

This is your fault.

- I didn't leave the gate open. - Then who did?

The Black Knight. I saw him!

[laughing]

There you are! More lies.

I hope you're well-insured.

No, no, no, let's just wait until we find out-—

Until what? Until someone dies?

For God's sake, Mark,

these horses are out of control.

We must take action. They should be put down!

- No, you can't! - No.

Caitlin's right.

We're lucky no one's badly hurt here.

You should take her home.

CAITLIN: Come on, darling.

[cellphone ringing]

Hello. Norbert Tilly speaking.

I'm here!

I'm here!

[crow cawing]

Have you gone mad?!

Well, I didn't know those horses would be out in the road!

Take off that idiot mask.

If the press find out...

I thought that was the whole point.

The permit! The permit, you numbskull!

- What permit? - What permit?

That's the whole problem!

Get rid of the evidence.

There's no bloody permit.

[whickering]

You could have been killed!

But the horses were in danger!

Stop it about those horses!

There'll be a claim for damages hanging over us

thanks to those horses! What's wrong with you?

You're just as stubborn as your father.

I'm glad of it, too. When Daddy comes back-—

Norman is not coming back, Mickey.

He's never coming back!

It's been four years!

Not one of the expedition has returned.

You have to accept that he's gone!

[sad music]

Vet's coming in a few days.

They'll all have to be put down.

If I hadn't fallen asleep...

Never did that before. Never.

And naps...

are for sick people and babies.

If the accident hadn't happened...

Would they have been put down?

[sad music]

I'm sorry, Silver.

I'm so sorry.

BEN: Go home, Mickey.

It's best that you don't come back here anymore.

[church bells ringing]

[phones ringing]

You're lucky no one died!

There's no need to shout. I can hear you perfectly.

You only get one shot at stuff like this, you know?

Now we won't be allowed to hold so much as a cake sale.

Oh, I can really see it.

Crowds arriving in droves to buy my lemon cupcakes.

Oh, stop banging on.

- It's not my fault. - Isn't it?

So what's this?

A fairly unflattering snapshot.

- You're not in it. - Indeed.

Because you weren't there.

Maybe later, but not then.

Letting those horses out was idiotic!

Something I never took you for, Miss Lemon.

Keep your hair on, Lance.

I seem to remember you telling me

to take care of the horses.

MAYOR: Not to kill them!

So what about our business?

There is no business.

Without a signature, no investor.

Without an investor, no dream villa.

Mark is so preoccupied.

He'd sign his own death warrant.

Not so stupid now, huh?

So... What about our business?

And the horses?

My fiancee is taking care of them.

[laughing]

Oh, you outclass the upper class, m'lady.

[ominous music]

Oh, Ben.

Can you please go up to Lord Longwood's study

and take his post?

Yes, yes. Of course, ma'am.

Thank you.

It can't be Norbert Tilly. I know what I've seen.

Okay, stop this arse. It was a fancy dress trick.

Thyrza predicted it in her manuscript.

Oh, yeah, the manuscript.

The Myth of Manu...

White Elephants Can Fly...

The Secret Life of the Eiffel Tower...

All written by Longwood's well-known author...

Lathy Timber.

They're in the library.

Lathy means long, and Timber means wood.

Better known as Lady Thyrza Longwood Demanceau.

This whole Black Knight thing is tosh. Fact.

You're the same as the rest of them.

Why don't you just go on home?

And don't forget to take a few bottles

for your drunk of a father.

My father just needs help.

It's time you buried yours.

[intense music]

Ben...

[groaning]

Ben, what happened?

Help the straps come across her, mate.

Take the newspaper.

There was something, Mickey.

- On what? - Caitlin.

Magic... at the stables.

It overcame them because... because...

- MICKEY: Of her shoes. - BEN: Her shoes...

It's Caitlin!

First the car crash, and now Ben.

She set Mark up to put down the horses.

I'm gonna sort this out.

I'm gonna go down to the castle,

and I'm gonna prove that Caitlin is behind all this.

You're doing no such thing, young lady.

Look at this. We're being sued, Mickey.

Big time. Ruined.

You got what you wanted.

We're gonna put the house on the market

and we're gonna go back to New York next week.

So you're not to go near that woman,

not now, not ever.

[sad music]

[triumphant music]

[thunder] [gasps]

[neighing]

Um... Darling?

Couldn't do it.

- I couldn't put them down. - Okay.

Okay.

We'll take care of it.

Let's get married.

Yeah.

It's a bit of a circus out there, isn't it?

You only get married once.

Okay, twice in my case.

[nervous laughter]

CAITLIN: Soon we will have our dream.

Something special for my special girl.

A real lady of the manor.

- Class. - Goodness me.

What a fuss.

A royal wedding couldn't compete.

[laughing] But we're keeping it calm.

Now... Close your eyes.

[Caitlin gasps] HERNANDA: Crystal nails.

Limited edition. Perfect with the ring.

Darn it, I left the hair in the car!

Oh, for goodness' sake.

[music box playing]

Dear Mrs. Miller,

we, the undersigned, act for the estate

of the late Sonia Miller.

At the will of the deceased you're entitled to a legacy

of one property as follows: The Old Mill, Longwood Town,

so that it may be renovated and lived in

and enjoyed as a home once more.

Sincerely, Lathy Timber.

Thyrza.

[dramatic music]

He was my father, too.

Do you want to go back to New York?

Me either.

I'm gonna make sure that we don't.

[thunder rolling]

Oh, what a shame. It looks like rain.

Okay.

Plan B.

[exciting music]

COLIN: Colin, man. Looking good!

CAITLIN: Of course, I should have expected him

not to have the guts to put those beasts down.

Don't expect me to explain this to Daddy.

You most certainly will.

That's the price for aristocracy.

Aristocracy? Who cares?

- This place is a dump. - You listen to me, madam.

Your grandmother scrubbed these floors for 40 years.

Play your cards right and you'll never have to

work a day in your life.

Trust me.

Soon this place will be unrecognizable.

And leave the horses to me.

[dramatic music]

LILY: Danny?

- Where's your sister? - Uh...

I don't know. She never tells me anything.

[dramatic music]

"“The wind will blow without a sigh.

"“The Knight will be out seeking.

"“The battle will rage like ne'er before.

"“The true heir must reveal the token.

"“The Knight will find his Madelyn.

"“At last, the spell be broken."”

[car horn honking]

[Caitlin yelling]

[indistinct shouting]

What?

I've just paid a small fortune to have this gravel raked.

You said that I would set up here

for the display to happen there.

I don't know how you thought that.

Any imbecile could see that this vista

is obviously much better.

I don't know.

That might be too close to the stables.

Oh for God's sake.

Aren't you meant to be the best in the business?

So just make sure you're not too close to the stables.

The horses.

[exciting music]

[horses whickering]

Did you never hear it's rude to root in peoples' drawers?

I believe these belong to me.

A thief...

As well as a liar.

Who's the thief here? You stole my amulet.

No, I returned it to where it belongs.

You sold the land?

Well, my dear, if you did your detective work correctly,

you'd see that it's a totally legal transaction

that my very-soon husband- to-be sold the land.

You probably don't even love him.

[scoffing]

What could you know about love?

More than you ever will!

You're the one who wants to get rid of the horses.

Ben must have found out so you got rid of him, too.

His moped was ancient.

It's no wonder the brakes failed.

No one said anything about the brakes.

Touche.

No! I know what you're after.

Coming here with your stupid necklace.

Well, you're not taking what's rightfully mine.

You've no spot at my wedding. Capito?!

[grunting] [Mickey screams]

[frantic music]

Let me out of here!

Let me out! Let me out!

Let me out!

Come on, come on! Let me out!

Lucky girl.

You and those bloody horses will have front-row seats tonight

when the fireworks begin.

Sean.

I need to know where Mickey is.

Our plane is leaving tonight.

I didn't know you were going.

It wasn't the plan. Where could she be?

The wedding.

The wedding. That's it.

Where are you going?

I'm all out of gargle.

You need to go to the pub.

You want a drink, Dad? You can get it yourself.

I'm not going anymore.

I'm your son, Dad.

Your son.

[dramatic music]

Help! Help!

Help!

Is anybody there?

[violin music]

["“Here Comes the Bride"” playing]

Where is the little princess?

[static buzzing]

[music playing] MAN: Alright.

Come to me, baby.

That's right.

Yeah... Come a little closer.

CAITLIN: Chardonnay!

Chardonnay?

What?

Stupid wedding toys.

[crackling, music distorting]

MAYOR: Marriage joins two people together

in a circle of its love.

["“Pomp and Circumstance"” playing]

We are gathered here today to complete that circle

by joining these two beautiful people

as husband and wife.

[electricity buzzing]

[melancholy music]

[frightening music]

[horses neighing]

Help!

Someone help me!

Help me!

[horses neighing]

Come on!

Help!

Help!

Here we go. Go.

Come on, through the door. Through the door.

Come on, go, go.

Come on, Silver. We gotta get out.

We've got to get out of here, Silver. Come on.

Come on! Get up!

Silver, get up.

Come on, please. Come on.

Get up!

Please. Get up!

Silver, help me. Please, please, please.

You can't give up, Silver.

[neighing] Yes, yes, yes!

[whinnying]

Don't stop!

You'll be fine. You can do this.

Come on. Come on!

I know it happened before.

I won't let the fire hurt you again.

I promise.

You'll be alright.

Okay, go.

[neighing] Hurry.

[screaming]

Do you, Caitlin Lemon...

take Mark George Philip Dumanceau

to be your lawful wedded husband?

I do.

[sad music]

Sean!

The door is locked. Chardonnay has my amulet.

- You've got to bring it to-— - You're nuts!

- I'm gonna get help. - No!

There isn't time! My amulet is the answer.

I must end this!

Please trust me, Sean. Just this once.

Do you, Mark George Phillip Dumanceau...

- take Caitlin Lemon-— - Is that smoke?

Go on. Do you, Mark George Phillip Dumanceau...

[clearing throat] Do you...

- Mark George Phillip-— - There's a fire!

Fire! [clamoring]

Hang on! [screaming]

Ah, there he is. Colin, my man.

- What shall we do? - A: Punch him.

Or B: Punch him.

[Colin moaning]

Did you see that? He attacked me!

Mickey! Here!

Mickey's in there!

Mickey!

Mickey!

Mickey!

Mickey!

Mickey!

Mickey!

[singing "“The Fairest Girl of the Light"”]

[ominous music]

Madelyn gave this to me.

She didn't die that day.

She grew up here in the mill.

She had children and her children had children

and so on until me.

It was my destiny to give this to you.

Take it. I know you loved her.

Mickey! Mickey!

Mickey, no!

No! Stop!

[man singing "“The Fairest Girl of the Light"”]

[whooshing]

MICKEY: Sean... Sean... Over here.

[coughing]

Over here!

SEAN: Over here!

[coughing] [triumphant music]

- Call an ambulance! - No, wait, where's Caitlin?

I found out what she's been up to behind your back.

The castle, the horses, Ben.

What planet are you living on?

Everybody knows you're a pathological liar.

- You tried to kill me! - Oh, for God's sake.

There isn't a shred of evidence to...

It's your nail.

We made the call! No need to panic, lads!

The fire brigade's on its way.

Get out of the way, you pig!

- Sean, call me. - Chardonnay!

Mommy!

[screaming]

Oh my God! My dress!

Oh my God, my dress is ruined!

- I sprained my ankle! - For God's sake!

Come on, quickly! Run!

[screaming]

[happy music]

You were right, Mom.

This is our home.

There never was a cousin Sonia.

It was Thyrza.

She sent the letter about the mill.

She left the nanny's diary there.

It was my destiny, and she knew it.

I'm so sorry.

I never should have said that to you about your dad.

It's okay.

He loved us.

You, me, and Danny.

He would have come back if he could.

How'd you do it?

It was easy.

When you know how.

MARK: Well, if you change your mind just let me know.

It is all rightfully yours.

LILY: We'll stay here. The mill is our home now.

It always was. We just didn't know it.

Well, the household and I are very grateful.

The house'll be...

- Perfect. - Actually...

It's a castle.

[chuckling]

Come for dinner tonight.

All of you.

I'll show you some of my etchings.

Actually, your etchings.

That'd be nice.

Good.

I see your horse and rider are fully recovered.

Well, we agreed she could ride if she took it real slow.

[exciting music]

Go, Silver, go!

[whooping]

[happy music]
