- BANANAS: Oh! - [cheering]

TJ: You're one step closer to the real final.

- [air horn blows] - DIEM: What?

BOTH: Your foot touched the ground.

DIEM: It can't be over like that.

TJ: Diem, you showed so much heart this entire season.

Everybody go ahead and say your goodbyes to Diem,

and I'll see you at the final.

DIEM: I know that I can win this final,

and it was just taken away in two seconds.

And I'm looking up at the girls

who get to compete in this final,

and that's such a disheartening thing.

I think I've done a good job playing the game

with a good heart and not playing the game dirty.

[cheering]

- Yeah! - [cheering continues]

I am still here. Like, I beat Cory.

Cory won three eliminations.

And I'm so happy we get to go somewhere else.

Like, this is so incredible because this also means

we're so close to the final.

I'm trying to get to this final.

This target band, I'm gonna think of this

as, like, my little superpower band.

And I'm gonna use it to fire my ass to a win,

because if I win, I'm 1,000% safe.

If I can't do that, hope that anybody other than Johnny wins,

because they'll put either Jenny or Rachel in over me.

- MICHELE: Anywhere. - [TJ laughs]

TORI: Top five.

Out of 20 girls, we're top five.

- We're that much closer to the final. - MICHELE: Yeah.

I am so excited because we're right there at the end.

Unfortunately for Cara Maria, Jenny and Rachel,

they will all be targets.

TJ says next time he sees us,

it's gonna be a lot less green.

And I'm like, tell me right now we're going to the desert,

or maybe we're going to snowcapped mountains.

We got this.

CARA MARIA: No, we're wicked optimistic.

I think we're just exhausted.

- TORI: No, you're not. You're resting. - [laughs]

You're storing up your energy for greatness.

I'll maybe wear this, with that.

I'm going jeans.

Rachel and I are both targets, and we just do not want to see

a situation where we're going head-to-head.

The pressure now, going into next challenge,

has never felt so heavy.

If Rachel wins or if I win, we're gravy.

It's fine. But Cara can't win.

Ideally, Michele will lose because she's not a target,

which would be great, because then maybe we've got some leeway

to put Cara in against Michele.

I am conscious of what is about to come up.

I have to perform exceptionally well

on the next challenge in order to make this final,

and I'm not taking anything for granted.

JONNY MOSELEY: Welcome to your final challenge.

RACHEL: Although I am a two-time Challenge winner,

that was 20 years ago.

I have never been a part of a location change.

Man, this is final missions.

I don't want to hear no [bleep] about anything anymore.

I've actually never been a part of a final with an overnight.

I want to send a message to the other side

that I'm going for the gold.

Please wear that whole outfit. Do not disappoint me now.

RACHEL: Stop.

BANANAS: Beam me up, guys. I'm going to outer space.

RACHEL: Did you bring that? Is this his wardrobe?

Doesn't breathe very well, and the crotch is a little low.

- RACHEL: Yeah. - [Jenny laughs]

BANANAS: We're up before the fucking rooster, dude.

We woke the rooster up today.

[cheering and whooping]

MICHELE: So beautiful.

CARA MARIA: Hello, Philippines. Haven't been here before.

There's a lot of water.

- Wow. - Yes!

We're in the Philippines, bitches.

Like, this is what ladies of leisure are all about.

- BANANAS: Welcome to my villa, guys. - DEREK: Yeah.

KYLAND: To be here on the edge of the final,

it's a big deal.

[cheering]

We got to face all of the titans,

and now we're down to four guys.

I actually can compete at the same level

as these legends who have had

so much more experience than me.

One of us are going to win this game,

and to be a champion,

to get this win, the stakes feel higher than ever.

- [glasses clink] - MICHELE: Cheers.

- CARA MARIA: Cheers. - DEREK: Cheers, to the last phase.

- To the last phase. - The last phase.

MICHELE: We're almost there.

DEREK: I have wanted this for so long.

Like, the fact that it's been 16 seasons

since I've been back on The Challenge,

and making it possibly to a final is insane.

And I couldn't be more proud of myself.

Wow, Cara, look at us sharing a bedroom.

[singsongy]: The honeymoon suite.

Look at the progress.

Cara and I hated each other,

and now we are at a point where we are sharing a villa.

How romantic.

[laughs]

JORDAN: As much as I love these people

and we've become a family, I'm tired of them.

Tired of competing with them. I'm tired of living with them.

Let's get to this final and get it going.

MICHELE: I've been through the mud,

slogging through this game,

and now I'm in paradise.

I know that we are on the doorstep of the final,

and so I just want to keep this positive trajectory,

headed to that final.

BANANAS: This is what I fought for all season.

Now I feel like I'm also fighting

even harder for Jenny and Rachel to see this thing through.

BANANAS: I want to make it to a final, and I want to win,

but I also still

want other people to not make it there.

I don't want to see Tori and Michele go into

whatever the next phase of this game is.

RACHEL: Cheers, guys, to making it here.

- BANANAS: Final nine. - Final nine. - Cheers.

Being a part of the final nine of season 40 is huge.

It took a lot for all of us to sit here at this table.

I think we're just gonna put some differences aside

and just kind of reflect on...

everything we've just been through.

BANANAS: You look thirsty. Would you like some water?

KYLAND: Favorite moment from the season, guys.

BANANAS: Um, okay, when Devin went home.

Wow.

[Kyland laughs]

- Oh! - [air horn blows]

OLIVIA: Good job, babe.

- Wow. - MICHELE: That's fucked-up, man.

BANANAS: We didn't say that everyone had to agree.

I think that Bananas has this big chip on his shoulder.

Throwing these little jabs in. He's hurt, we're hurt.

And in order for us to figure out how to move forward,

we need to have a discussion about what went down.

My favorite moment was every time

that I got to make Johnny Bananas a target.

[grunts]

No, that wasn't my favorite moment.

I never liked selecting targets.

- My favorite moment... - BANANAS: I loved it.

...was winning the invitational.

TJ: Well done.

[Michele screams]

Entering the season on a "W" was, like, such a great feeling.

Yeah.

MICHELE: Go, Jenny!

- [screaming] - [contestants cheering]

JENNY: That was fucking sick!

- Ten out of ten. - That was my favorite challenge, too.

- Because you didn't have to do it? - Exactly.

KYLAND: I feel like it's hard to beat

- the riding a car off of a cliff. - BANANAS: Yeah.

[Kyland whooping]

Yeah!

That was pretty epic, dude.

TORI: Jordan?

BANANAS: Aw.

Mine was to get my second elimination win ever

against someone who just did three-and-O.

[air horn blows]

TJ: Derek, well done!

CORY: You deserved it.

Derek, killed it.

DEREK: What about you, Rachel?

- Winning when I had to was definitely up there. - BANANAS: Yep.

You might want to go take lunch.

- TORI: Good job, Rachel! - [cheering]

TJ: Well done, Rachel.

RACHEL: Tori's up.

I think, like, for so many of the past seasons,

it's felt like a big group of people

have been running the game,

and this time around, it felt like

it was like a big fight between a bunch of people.

Well, no, no, no. You were the machine

on the other side that we had to fucking fight against.

That was happening.

It was always bound to be this way.

We operate differently, I suppose.

Yeah.

We're skirting around what it is, right?

- Which is what? - We're talking about the way it all broke down,

which is the fracture that happened when Devin left.

And you were on one side, we were on the other.

And we didn't have to be.

MICHELE: You warned me he was gonna hurt me.

And you know what? The person who hurt me was you.

BANANAS: How many fucking guys is Tori protecting,

and how many guys can she actually protect?

From my side, it was me just,

you know, wanting to have his back.

If this was a season

where we had just gotten to know each other,

I wouldn't care.

But we have been in these situations

so many fucking times.

JORDAN: I got to say, it's kind of hard

to listen to Bananas play victim after 22 seasons,

seven wins, the biggest spoon of any pot stirrer.

You're either on Michele and Tori's side or you're not.

You can't have Bananas' Angels, and everyone else, too.

So, yeah, get over it.

CARA MARIA: Johnny. Like,

you're the guy that's still justifying

taking the money from Sarah in the final.

The fact that he's playing a victim to Michele and Tori?

What?

I can't with this guy.

TORI: I just hope going forward,

we just leave this where it is.

We take some space away from it.

I just don't see "moving forward"

if we ever do a season again.

You need to be prepared

for something that you do to have consequences.

I had more of a friendship with Tori

prior to this all blowing up,

but I will do whatever I can to make

her game a thousand times more difficult.

RACHEL: I am now a target

going into the final

women's challenge day

with Cara and Jenny.

This is a great situation for me because

I am sitting with multiple deals,

and I could potentially get out of this target

situation if I play my cards right.

Welcome, everyone, to your last challenge

On this season of The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras.

[applause and cheering]

Yes! [laughs]

Congratulations, Derek.

As the winner of the elimination, you had

to select three women to become the new targets.

You chose Cara Maria, Rachel and Jenny.

So that being said, gentlemen,

all four of you...

...are in the final.

[whooping]

Yes! Yeah. [laughs]

Congratulations, you guys.

Oh, my God.

MICHELE: I know that this is

the absolute last obstacle that I will have to overcome.

It's just me,

and this "W"

standing between me

and walking into the final.

So, game on.

TJ: However,

if you lose today, men,

you will be assessed a penalty

- in the final. - [laughing]

JORDAN: There's two steps to becoming a Challenge champion.

Step one-- make the final.

Step two-- win the final.

Starting the final in last place,

you're gonna be at a real disadvantage.

This is not the time to lose.

KYLAND: Finals are hard enough, from everything I've heard.

The last thing I want to do is have anything holding me back.

So performing well in this last challenge

just became more important than ever.

Women, all you have to do is win today,

and you're in the final, as well.

Today's challenge is called "Fortress Bricks."

Now, here's how it's gonna work.

You will all race as fast as you can up top

of this 18th-century Spanish fortress,

where there are solving stations.

Once you have claimed a station, you will then start

bringing bricks all the way down, two at a time.

Once you bring down four bricks,

you can bring back up

a plank.

One plank to every four bricks. You're going to continue

this process until you've brought down

all 40 bricks and brought up all ten planks.

Then, you're gonna start building that puzzle.

Fastest man, fastest woman will win today's challenge

and secure their spot in the final.

Cara Maria, you're gonna be assessed a penalty

for this challenge,

since you lost the last challenge.

Your penalty is three minutes.

That will be assessed after the challenge.

All right? So, win today.

- Let's do it. - TJ: Good luck. Let's do this.

CARA MARIA: Three minutes.

That is a significant disadvantage.

But I do know

that today's challenge is gonna be a grind.

The Philippines is

blazing sunny.

But there's something about the fact

that the last challenge

is a fortress.

And I'm flashing back to Vendettas,

when I finished at the top of this fortress castle thing.

If there's one thing I know,

it's castles are my jam.

TJ: All right, everybody, foot on the letters.

Get ready.

- Go! - [air horn blows]

[whooping]

Come on!

- Go! - Whoo!

BANANAS: Today is gonna be an absolute slog

in this fortress. If I win, I can protect

Jenny and Rachel, because what I want to see more than anything

is the look on Cara, Tori and Michele's face

if both Rachel

and Jenny punch their ticket to a final.

KYLAND: Let's go!

TJ: Kyland setting the pace.

Yes!

Whoo!

[Michele grunting]

MICHELE: Oh, God.

Oh, God. This is gonna be tough for me.

TJ: You got to pick it up.

JENNY: Oh, God, it's so heavy.

TJ: Derek, keep it moving.

TORI: It's gonna be a very physically draining challenge.

And the final's right around the corner.

Seeing how bad Jenny

and Cara and Rachel all want to win, I'm like,

"You know what? All I have to do today is not lose."

So I'm going at a pretty slow pace,

and I'm just trying to get the job done before the last person.

When I won my last championship,

I cut my family all checks

for Christmas, and everybody was just floored.

Every single time I have the opportunity, I want

to make our lives at home better

because, like, I just... I love my sister,

and I love my family so much.

TJ: Well done, Cara.

Hell yeah. Nice, Rach.

Let's get it, Tori.

[panting, groaning]

RACHEL: Jenny is setting an absolute beast-mode pace.

But that does not stop me.

I am 100% confident that

I will be going to the final.

I'm stressed.

There's got to be a better way

to carry these fucking things than what I'm doing.

TJ: Let's go. Hurry up.

MICHELE: Everything is heavy.

I haven't really figured out a strategy,

and these girls are moving

like it's nothing.

I need to make sure that I'm not gonna get last place today.

I have a lot of ground to catch up.

I'm hoping that this puzzle is difficult,

but to be honest with you,

my puzzle skills have betrayed me

this entire season, so,

I am a little

stressed out.

KYLAND: Every second counts here.

TJ: Yeah, Kyland, that's the pace. Killing 'em.

Let's go. There it is, Jordan. Come on, Derek. Let's go.

DEREK: Today's challenge is called "Fortress Bricks."

We have to run into this fortress, find our station.

We have to start carrying bricks two at a time down.

And once we carry four bricks down, we're able to take a plank

up to the fortress again and put it in our solving station.

There's gonna be ten different planks

that have a puzzle on 'em, and once we have

all of our planks up there,

we can start building the puzzle.

BANANAS: Can't fucking breathe, dude.

TJ: Keep it going, keep it going. Come on.

BANANAS: I'm looking at this as the final before the final.

Not even necessarily for my stake.

I've already punched my ticket to the final.

I am good, but there's still a lot on the line.

I need Jenny and Rachel to see it through today, and I'm gonna

do everything in my power to, uh, do the same.

- TORI: Ow. - TJ: Keep going, Tor.

- Let's go. - Okay. [groans]

Go, go, go!

Oh, my God.

JENNY: I know that I'm really

pushing myself at this point

'cause my asthma is starting to kick in.

[wheezing loudly]

It literally feels like someone's got their hands

around my throat.

In my head, I'm talking to myself through it.

"Jen, come on, you've got to fucking push.

"This is the last girls' day.

This is literally do-or-die."

TJ: Let's get it, Tori.

KYLAND: Boom. Boom. Ah.

Yeah.

KYLAND: Jordan's known for being an endurance athlete,

so pacing myself off of him

and passing him is a great way for me

to build confidence in myself and my abilities.

Then,

maybe I can do the same in the final.

JORDAN: Kyland

sets a blistering pace, and all I can think is,

stay in his hip pocket, let's see what this guy's got.

TJ: All right, Derek.

Let's go, Bananas.

TORI: The final's right around the corner.

And Jenny, Cara, Rachel--

they are absolutely crushing this.

But because I'm not a target,

all I have to do is not lose,

and then I am good to go to that final, baby. Whoo!

And right now, I'm one lap ahead of Michele,

so, I feel good about this one.

TJ: You got to keep that pace up, Michele.

You got to keep going.

[groans]

TJ: Hell yeah, Rachel. On Jenny's tail.

DEREK: I don't want a penalty in the final, but

Kyland and Jordan just surpassed me,

so I'm not even worrying about them.

But I want to beat Bananas,

so I'm not last place.

At the moment, I'm ahead of Bananas.

So as long as I can keep that pace,

that means that I won't get last.

TJ: Yeah, Kyland. Already coming back.

- KYLAND: Yes, sir. - TJ: Go. Go.

TJ: This is it, Kyland. Finish strong.

KYLAND: Is there two sides?

- TJ: Good job. - Fuck.

JORDAN: Kyland is the first guy to get all

of his puzzle boards up to the top.

I know I'm good at puzzles, but

I still have a whole nother trip to go,

and I am just waiting

to hear a horn

that Kyland's finished this thing for the guys.

[panting] Oh, fuck.

[groaning]

- TJ: Knock that puzzle out. - Yes, sir.

TJ: Cara, let's go.

CARA MARIA: I have a time penalty, but

I'm a workhorse,

and I will never stop.

And then at the end, if there's a puzzle,

you're damn right I'm gonna take that time

and catch right up if I've fallen behind at all.

Oh! I need a fucking drink.

[panting]

TJ: Kyland, we got to go.

JORDAN: I'm actually super surprised

that I can see Kyland having so much trouble with this puzzle.

This is just like a jigsaw puzzle.

The line goes to the line goes to the line.

But for my game, this is great, because

Kyland is a threat in the final.

TJ: Come on, Kyland. Let's go. There it is, Jordan.

Two more.

TJ: All right, Jenny, good job.

Thanks, TJ.

JENNY: I'm feeling confident.

These are very strong women, but I know that I am also strong.

Just as long as I can see that puzzle,

that's what it's going to come down to.

I do really want to win the money

because then I can use it to invest in my future

with my potential husband-to-be, get a house,

set some roots down.

[grunting, panting]

Come on, Derek. Derek, we got to go.

Oh, my God. [panting]

- JORDAN: Jesus Christ. - You got this. Come on, Jordan.

- Kyland, let's go. - Oh, fuck.

TJ: Yes, Rachel.

MICHELE: I've worked my ass off this season.

I have never made it to a final.

I want to prove to myself that I can do this,

but I'm looking at all of the girls.

Their muscles are literally glistening in the sun,

and I know that this does not necessarily cater

to my skill set.

And I'm realizing that

I'm pretty freaking far behind right now.

I have to stack each piece individually,

and they're so freaking heavy,

I could be going into elimination.

And the whole freaking thing is falling apart for me.

[grunting]

[groaning]

TJ: Let's go.

TJ: Keep moving.

TJ: You got to place it correctly.

[wheezing, grunting]

There's never an easy path going to the final.

I am coming in last with the planks,

and the last thing I wanted to do

was head into a final with a penalty.

But if I can somehow manage

to beat Kyland, Derek and Jordan, who have

all made it to this puzzle before me,

I think that's going to be really great for my morale

and just absolutely devastating for theirs.

[panting]

[grunts softly]

That horn's about to come out.

No, it's got to go the other way.

JORDAN: I get my puzzle done.

Win the last two challenges heading into the final.

Feeling pretty good.

MICHELE: Jenny, Cara and Rachel are the targets today,

and those three girls are performing the best.

So, I'm a little bit concerned for me and Tori

because we're kind of trailing behind.

Challenging the Survivor Michele "winner" mindset,

I have to execute this puzzle absolutely flawlessly.

[groans]

Goddamn it.

[wheezing]

My breathing is so fast.

But I need to make it to the final.

Jen, come on.

You've got to push. This is the last girls' day.

This is your last chance to keep yourself safe.

JENNY: It's amazing what you can do

when you got a target on your arm and you have to win.

[loud wheezing]

- All right, Jenny, good job. - JENNY: Thanks, TJ.

There's so much riding on today.

[loud wheezing]

All right, finally.

- Yep. Good. - [air horn blows]

All right, Bananas. Well done.

I look at Kyland's puzzle.

Kyland has, I think,

one plank in the puzzle.

This ain't rocket science. It's like,

I've seen Kyland do some pretty complicated things.

But, I mean,

I don't know what the hell this guy's doing.

It's come down to me and Derek.

So hopefully, Derek

struggles a little bit with this puzzle

because I don't want to be

entering my first final with a penalty.

Okay.

It's up to me and Kyland to see who comes last place.

And literally, if Kyland has a disadvantage,

that would be good for my game.

Oh, stupid.

Because Kyland

will dominate a final.

Maybe...

TJ: Well done, Kyland. Good job.

DEREK: Last place.

[sighs]

[sighs heavily]

The final just got a lot harder.

TJ: All right, Derek. Good job.

Now it's down to Michele.

So I'm just like, "Okay, Michele, like,

you really can't get last."

She's not a target, so,

as long as Michele doesn't get last,

she will automatically make it to the final.

You sped up, and you're not out.

You're not out yet.

TORI: Honestly, this is treacherous.

Watching everybody compete, I mean, like,

Jenny is done, and Cara and Rachel

are pushing it.

On top of Cara being a target,

she also has a three-minute time penalty,

which gets assessed at the end of the competition.

We still get to finish three minutes after she's done,

and she could still lose.

And I'm one lap ahead of Michele, so I feel like

I just need to, you know, put the puzzle together,

and I'll be fine.

- [air horn blows] - TJ: All right, Cara. Well done.

RACHEL: Check.

- TJ: Good. - [air horn blows]

TJ: Good job, Rachel.

CARA MARIA: I'm noticing that Rachel finishes her puzzle,

and Tori and Michele are going a whole lot slower.

Am I last?

With Jenny as a target off the table,

the only two up to be voted in against whoever loses

is me or Rachel.

But Jordan won.

So, hey, buddy,

you want to not vote me in on my birthday?

You were a fucking animal.

TJ: Let's go. Hurry up.

TJ: Yep. Let's go.

MICHELE: I am in last place in the last challenge

right before the final.

[panting]

And I'm seeing everybody kind of hanging around.

And I'm thinking,

"Oh, shit. Is everybody done?"

And I round the bend,

and I see Tori still working on her puzzle.

Come on, Michele.

And I think, "All right, there's a shot."

TJ: Come on, Michele. Get those things out of there.

Let's go. Come on, knock it out.

BANANAS: A win sometimes comes in different ways.

Watching the two of them duke it out

is a win in my book.

And in a weird way, I'm actually

pulling for Michele.

Tori-- for her ass to be

on the line at the last possible second

and have the potential of not even making a final

after everything that she's done,

I mean,

this is poetic justice in true form.

Ugh.

TJ: Got to place it correctly.

[exhales sharply]

CARA MARIA: Make sure you know what you're doing.

You don't want to redo it.

TORI: Not that.

TJ: Tight race.

Anybody's game.

I've been in battles with my friends

and I've questioned whether or not I'm a real Challenger.

And now I can sit here and say

I absolutely am.

Tori has been beasting this entire season,

so her coming in last right now is shocking.

I mean, listen, it's gonna be a dogfight,

whoever goes up in that elimination.

I definitely don't have a preference

for who to go against, like,

Rachel and Cara, they're both two-time champs of this game,

they're both incredible competitors,

and they smoked it today.

So I think my best bet is to just let fate

take its course, and hopefully it's in my favor.

This is about to be one of the most intense

female eliminations of the season,

so I'm honored to be a part of it.

However, this season,

we became friends.

Cara, believe me when I tell you,

one of my favorite aspects

of this season was you and I becoming friends.

But I feel like this has been a really healing season.

I feel like we've gotten to the root of everything,

and I have so much respect for everybody here.

I'm really thankful for my journey so far in this season.

For standing my ground against Johnny, still.

You're just pissed 'cause I beat you

in the fucking challenge.

For being able to help Michele see

the things that she's going through,

which are the same things that I went through,

and for making friends and for putting aside differences

and for standing my ground against Laurel

and finally cutting that cord

that has been hanging on for way too long.

This has just been a season of evolution?

I'd really like that third win.

Tori, I really hope that we can finish our story

in a final rather than in an elimination.

RACHEL: Okay, well, I'll take it from there.

I think it's very clear we all have

a lot of respect for each other at this table.

We're all amazing competitors.

That said, I think, Jordan, you and I play very similar.

I think we let our performance speak for itself

and then we align accordingly.

I've been in two eliminations.

I want this more than anything.

And, Tori, although, like, we haven't been able

to play side by side,

But I know where I thrive,

and that's eliminations.

TORI: I do feel like I have

this new sense of confidence,

but at the same time I am aware of how good Cara is.

Like, have you ever played a video game

and you're like, "Oh, yeah,

here's the final boss"?

This is the final boss.

I do feel like, in some sick way,

this is important for Cara and I

because this is, hopefully, the end of a vicious cycle

that will never come back.

And from this point on, no matter what happens,

we can agree that we can be friends.

in their Challenge uniform.

I mean, it's, like, interesting because,

out of all of the girls to go against,

like, Cara's great,

but I've also gone against Kaycee,

and she was a champ.

and Cara Maria, two of the biggest faces

of The Challenge for the last decade.

Tori and I have bonded over the mindset of

"the only way to really be the best is to beat the best."

And now it feels like maybe something

that she's manifested for this moment here.

that I have their back in any game I play.

I don't want to say that I didn't always

have 100% faith, but there were some times

The fact that, like, we banded together

and you guys stuck by me, which n-never happens.

It's very rare in this game but, like, also just for me

to have people that, like, really, really, really

have my back and you guys have this entire game,

- and it means the world to me. - JENNY: Get your tootsies in.

I think that Cara has been

in defense mode for a lot of her Challenge career,

but this season she's made

and cultivated friendships that have kind of

allowed her to blossom in this game,

and I love to see it.

I think that she thinks that she just needs

to compete, compete, compete, have her back

against the wall, battle, the world against Cara.

And I love

that she's coming into her own

and having fun.

Allowing Cara to be herself

and show herself is such a joy to watch.

CARA MARIA: I didn't expect any of this.

Aw, I know, you didn't want anything.

TORI: You're gonna make me cry, too.

I came in at the beginning of the season

not really knowing where I am.

And the cool thing is, with this particular season...

...I've been able to genuinely be me

and make some friends along the road.

and see myself on the other side

of the Challenge spectrum for a really long time.

Fast-forward to today.

It is the final

female elimination of season 40,

and who's in it?

Obviously, this is not

an ideal situation, but maybe it is.

Maybe for my Challenge career

and for her Challenge career,

this is what we needed

so that we can really bury the hatchet.

But, you know, at the same time, she is still such a badass.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous.

the challenge loser, which was Tori.

This also means that Rachel, Michele and Jenny,

all three of you have made the final.

MICHELE: I've been wishing to be in this final

from my first season, I've been wanting to be on a final,

and now that I'm in it,

I'm feeling grateful that I've made the final,

but I'm also feeling like,

where the hell did my life go wrong

that has landed me on the SS Sinister until, uh,

further notice?

And I'm a little bit concerned

that I might have wished for something that

I wasn't really prepared for.

Cara Maria, you and Tori are gonna be competing tonight

in the final elimination.

It's a simple game, but very difficult.

To begin, you're gonna jump off the boat,

then you're gonna swim to that circle

of barrels.

You're gonna go under the barrels,

and you are gonna tread water

for as long as you can.

And as the game gets longer, it's going to get a lot harder.

on that last challenge, and that's what put me

in this position, so I am fired the fuck back up,

and I'm ready to stay in that water for as long as I need to.

the fish fairies are with me and keep me afloat

about someone that has a lot of stamina

and can, like, fight through just annoying situations,

Cara's dated Paulie for six years,

and that is a testament

to Cara's grittiness and determination,

staying with that weirdo for six years.

So if I just let her think

that I am not struggling right now,

of this elimination together

and have been bonded

in a way that no other two people on the planet

will ever be able to understand.

This was the hardest elimination I've ever been in in my life.

CARA MARIA: This feels surreal, I guess.

Coming this close to another final

and getting yanked away.

I need to just focus on my journey and realize

that everything happens for a reason.

And I had a pretty good season.

I feel like everything

with me and Tori has kind of come full circle.

And for whatever reason this is the way

the universe wanted this to end.

And I really, really, truly, honestly, from my heart,

I'm happy for her and I wish her the best of luck.

The world is crazy how they line everything up, but here we are,

and I hope we get to do it again.

have ever been a part of.
