Unit, hut!

March!

Left, right! Left, right! Left, right!

My name's Kurt Kupcik. Costume type is stormtrooper.

- Snowtrooper! - Clone trooper.

Forward!

My I.D. is TK-9999.

Halt!

Unit, hut!

TK-863, Southern California Garrison.

U.K. Garrison.

- Mexican Garrison. - French Garrison.

Spanish Garrison.

Reporting for duty as ordered.

Fall in!

Attention!

Let's do it right!

March!

Left! Left!

Left, right, left!

You look like a bunch of sad sack sallies.

You can't see what I can see.

There will be no more questioning!

Yes, sir!

Millions of people will watch you do this!

Have pride!

And halt!

For the Empire!

That's good.

Okay, here's your class.

Now, I'll go in, and I'll talk to your teacher

and make sure they're ready for you, okay?

All right.

Brent Fordham's here with something really, really special.

Here's his dad, and he's gonna help Brent with his show-and-tell.

So let's have Brent come.

Okay, does everybody know what Brent is?

A Sand Man?

Uh, close. He's a Jawa.

So does everybody know what movie this costume is from?

Star Wars!

Exactly.

Who in here likes Star Wars?

Everybody. Teacher.

Everybody likes Star Wars.

Why would he be dressing up 30 times a year if it's not Halloween?

'Cause he's in a Star Wars club?

He's in a Star Wars club. That's right.

We do a lot of charity work in our Star Wars costumes,

because everybody likes Star Wars.

Does anybody have a question for Brent about why he does what he does...

or what it's like to do what he does?

Yes.

How many people are in the club?

Well, this is a big club.

We have members all over the world, so, total in the club, there's almost 4,000.

How long did it take to get on your costume?

About four minutes.

About four minutes.

He's got it down pretty good, but he's been doing it a long time.

Yes.

Do you sometimes hate doing it?

Not really.

What do you like most about his costume?

I just like the fact that my dad took this long to make a costume just for me.

And it just comes off.

All right, thank you, everybody.

Just take that off.

And now Brent's no longer a Jawa.

Thank you. Thank you.

Can you guys all give them a hand?

I learned more about Star Wars than I ever knew.

That was very nice. Thank you.

The best part for Brent is he gets to tell people

that Darth Vader really is his father.

Right, Brent?

My name is Mark Fordham. I'm 42 years old.

Resident of Provo, Utah.

I've been a police officer for 20 years, 13 as a sniper on a SWAT team.

I am currently the Legion Commanding Officer-

essentially president-for the 501st.

The 501st, in a nutshell,

is an international Star Wars costuming club that's run by fans.

We're up to 43 countries, including England, Spain, Belgium, Japan...

and, of course, we're in all 50 of the states.

We've got almost 4,000 members now.

Being a worldwide organization, the Legion is necessarily Internet-based.

Each unit is required to have a Web site,

and we communicate through our forums.

So that's how we exchange ideas, reports on events.

We exchange information on costumes

to improve the accuracy of the costumes.

And we don't just put them on. We become that character.

So there are some requirements.

The first one is that you have to have a movie canon-

as we like to refer to it-costume.

We have membership officers in each garrison that screen the costumes...

to make sure that the costume meets the minimum standards.

I just wanted to check in with you

and see how the event was shaping up for tonight.

A lot of clubs simply get together to share their fandom,

but the Legion is more of a service club.

Charity work is a large percentage now of what we actually do in our costumes.

We do not charge for our appearances.

The recipients of our services make a donation to a charity in our name.

Logan Donnelly has earned his Citizenship pin

and his Citizenship belt loop.

The list would be so long-the charities we support.

All sorts of disease research, Toys for Tots, Make-A-Wish-

anywhere there's a need and we can be of use.

I don't know if I showed you this before we left.

Remember, we talked last about

having ILM do a rendition of what this might look like.

So we had them sketch this for us.

Our participation in the 2007 Rose Parade came about...

when we got a call from Lynne Hale, who heads up our publicity department.

She said, "George wants to go to the Rose Parade."

One of the things I want to make sure is we do stand out.

It is the biggest parade that we know of.

There's networks and camera crews from all around the world.

It's broadcast on every network in the United States.

So where do we stand with the band?

George wants the best. I think we should definitely go with Grambling.

They've been in a lot of stuff. There were in Drumline.

They've been in parades. They were in a commercial Kayleen just saw.

Drumline was the movie that George based this on?

Right, that he originally liked.

So we decided we needed about 200 stormtroopers-

George made it clear that he wanted them from all over the world-

to march in a parade that was five and a half miles long.

The vast majority will not have marched,

and they certainly won't have marched five and a half miles in a costume.

This is a challenge.

And George's idea from the very start was he wants to involve the 501st.

And do we have any idea of, like, how to contact them?

I've got all their contact information.

It's just a matter if we're ready to move forward.

They are a lot of fun. Those guys are great.

Of course, there was no doubt

that we'd have the current head of the 501st there.

So Mark Fordham was a very important part

of helping us organize the entire event.

I think there's a lot of good ones on this, but I'm worried that there's too many.

We decided to have the 501st post a communication...

soliciting videos that they would send to me

to choose who would go to the Rose Parade.

This is the kind of quality that we need.

And they're pretty decent,

- considering they're marching on grass. - Yeah.

Hup, two, three, four!

That guy's shoulder piece looks too big. Yeah.

Right, left, right-

Snowtrooper.

Uh, I'm... 43 years old.

Are you supposed to see black between the two pieces?

They're fairly standard size, but people aren't.

When we were choosing who was gonna be at the parade,

we had about 800 people to go through.

I like how, when they're marching, you can't tell if it's a girl or a guy.

Yeah. No. It's the costume.

We knew when we were reviewing them

that we had to look for certain things.

We looked for the quality of the costume,

ability to march...

and then the enthusiasm- that intangible something special.

It was a difficult process

because most of the marchers looked pretty good on these tapes.

And yet we knew we had to cut down.

Let's not move him to the finals.

So we went from about 800 to 400.

So you want to move all of them to round two. Well, yes.

Okay.

And went down to about 250,

knowing that we only had slots for 200.

- This is Karen from Florida. - Okay. Here we go.

My name is Karen Magnussen-Sarna. I'm 32 years old.

I live in Daytona Beach, Florida, and I'm an aircraft mechanic.

Growing up, I was the youngest of three children. I was the only girl.

I was playing with a lot of hand-me-down toys.

I had G.I. Joes. I didn't have Barbies.

I was very active in sports, and I was a complete tomboy.

Okay, I'm warmed up.

Karen and I met, and after a couple years of knowing each other,

we started dating.

And then 1997 is when the re-release Special Edition came out,

and she came to the movies with me.

The first costumes I made were Jedi costumes for each other.

I thought we could look cool going to the movies together in our Jedi costumes.

It just took off from there, and that's how I got into the costuming.

Now she's at the point where she's such a Star Wars geek

that she's actually cool.

Thanks, dude.

And I'm the envy of many a man. Yeah.

'Cause I don't know if I've been picked to go to the parade yet or not.

It's a little bit uncertain, but as long as there's a possibility,

I'm still gonna get my armor ready to go.

Armor parties are the primary way

that 501st people put their costumes together.

When I go to armor parties,

I'm usually there to fix parts of my costume

I notice aren't working very well.

I really enjoy working with the new people,

getting them to fit their costume the right way.

Hidey ho.

And just catching up with everybody.

How you doing? Good to see you.

Glad you made it out. Thanks for having the party.

- No problem. - Appreciate it.

Hey, Karen, what's going on? How you doing?

What you working on?

Turning out a helmet. Let me see. Let me see.

Most people don't understand that

we're not just a bunch of geeks wearing plastic armor.

That's part of it, but most of us are doing this for a greater reason.

Fellow Florida trooper Rick Stafford is doing it

as a tribute for his son, who passed away.

I got involved with the group about three years ago when my son passed away.

He died of leukemia,

and he used Star Wars as a way of dealing with cancer.

He believed that what he was going through was the Jedi trials.

And at the end of it, he would be a Jedi Knight.

And we would actually practice lightsaber battling in the hospital.

And a gentleman found out about my son's situation...

and had requested me to send a picture of my son to him.

So I sent it off and, the day he passed away,

there was a package on the front porch,

and this is what was inside.

My son's own action figure.

I treasure it because I know this is him,

and I know this would have really blown him away.

So right now, it's one of my prize possessions.

And the 501st actually was recruited

to be his honor guard at his memorial service.

And because of that whole event, I should be a member of the group too.

So the 501st has been an incredible way

of helping to deal with the loss of my son.

Because I'm able to go out and give back to kids in cancer wards...

and the different events that we do just based on being a live action figure,

and I've been very blessed with that whole organization.

That's one thing I really admire about them.

They're able to take their hobby and their passion for Star Wars...

and turn it into something good for other people.

I don't think a lot of people can say that their hobby...

actually benefits other people in such a tremendous way.

So these are the guys from Barcelona.

I think their costumes look great. I question the guy in the middle.

Yeah, it's a little over the top.

But what's really funny is there are outtakes on this.

Is it movie, or is it cartoon? It's more movie.

I mean, they're just goofing, and it's wonderful.

Their marching is fine. Their stopping is not too good.

Oh, no.

That's the look, 'cause it's the staticky thing.

Well, they look good, but is that all the marching they do?

I don't know if these ones are gonna work.

Forward march!

Left, right, left.

Eric Swartzell, TK-9163.

Star Garrison, 501st Legion.

I am married. I have one three-year-old.

She was starting to learn how to talk.

We would go through, "What sound does a duck make?

What sound does this make?"

And I said, "What sound does Vader make?" I taught her to go-

And now she does that on command.

One, step forward. Two, step back.

Phil Yellott, TK-656.

Star Garrison, 501st Legion.

I teach computer science at a college here in Texas.

Believe it or not, I used to be an introvert.

But being an instructor, standing up in front of people,

you lose your shyness with that,

and then once you start doing this, you're not a shy person anymore.

Keep an arm's length between the right of you and the person in front of you.

So if it's farther than that, it's too far.

Fred Ellis, TK-0865.

Star Garrison, 501st Legion.

Forward march!

I actually have seven years' experience in the Canadian infantry.

I served three tours of duty

in the former Yugoslav Republic with the United Nations.

Whether you're wearing green fatigues or white armor, what's the difference?

It's a uniform.

Left! Left, right, left!

James Dollins, TK-1443. Star Garrison, 501st Legion.

Left, right, left!

My sister hates this hobby. She thinks it's the dorkiest thing ever.

I guess she's worried that it's, like, "No one's gonna want to date him...

'cause he's got a stormtrooper statue in the middle of his den" or something.

It's, like, nah.

I've never tried to play laser tag in stormtrooper armor.

Let's do it.

Into the abyss.

Wow, it's dark in here.

- There's one! - Get 'em!

Oh, man!

They're down there! Get 'em!

Oh, my God.

Game over.

Thank God.

Final score: Stormtroopers, 10,640.

You guys, 35,440. Good job, guys.

Yeah!

Couldn't really see, so we kinda got our butts beat by a bunch of little kids.

I can't believe we lost.

I'm Steve Buckley, TK-1902, of the U.K. Garrison.

It's a fine day to take control of another planet.

Any troublemakers here today that you need taken care of?

No. Thank you very much.

There's nothing really here to indicate I'm a bit of a Star Wars nut...

unless you take into account this guy here.

I think he's a lodger. Moved in a while back.

Doesn't say much, doesn't eat much, so he doesn't cost much to keep in.

This is how my collection really started.

Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.

Here we have Yoda, one of my pride and joys.

I haven't hung it up on the wall yet just in case it drops off...

and I sort of cry over Yoda's smashed face.

I ran the London Marathon last year.

Nothing unusual about that. About 40,000 people do that.

However, I did it in my stormtrooper costume.

Things do start to chafe in areas I can't really describe.

Hello.

We are in kind of a unique position...

whereby we have probably

the second-largest fan base outside the States.

I'm John Harris, Commanding Officer of the 501st, U.K. Garrison.

We average easily 100 events a year.

Squad leaders, get into group with your squads.

This is Memorabilia, and we love coming here.

It gives us such a great opportunity

to bring Star Wars to everybody that arrives.

One of the things that makes a real difference

is the fact that our guys can talk.

They have the static burst

which really heightens the believability of the character.

That's me.

Let's have a look.

We get a steady stream of Star Wars actors

that come and support us at these shows,

which helps us raise money for charity.

My name is Dave Prowse,

and I was Darth Vader in the first three Star Wars movies.

The stormtroopers are very good actually. They act as my escorts.

And when they're not with me, they'll stand out of sight.

And they will also become very officious.

I don't know about him. I'd be careful.

I've heard that he can cause some real problems.

How you doin' today, sir?

Fine, thank you.

I hope you got your lightsaber ready.

You're gonna need it.

It's the end of the day of Memorabilia, and we're all pretty tired.

But we've had an absolute blast today, taken lots of money for charity.

End of the day, that's why we're here.

Very grateful to Uncle George to allow us to wear what we wear...

and go out and make people happy.

Move along. Move along.

My name's Rodney Hall. I'm 28 years old.

I live in Chula Vista, California.

I go to school at University of California, San Diego.

My major is called Interdisciplinary Computing in the Arts.

Kind of a tongue twister, but it's a great major.

I get to dabble in computer science and visual arts.

These are my droids.

Each of these robots interacts with one another using infrared light.

Right now, they're all just kind of putting their feelers out...

just kind of getting a sense of each other- and the wall.

That's asleep.

I think Star Wars has really been helpful to my imagination.

The fact that it looks a little like a TIE fighter-

it wasn't intentional, but it's definitely there.

I think I started doing costuming because there was a point...

when I was kind of not so much playing with toys anymore,

and being the character, I felt, was the next level.

Let's see. Out this way in the front yard. I got some things laid out here.

Every costume begins by watching the movies and scrutinizing the movies.

That's the best reference we have.

The term "canon" stands for "movie accurate"...

so when you're looking to do something canon,

it's exactly what you would see in the films.

My armor is never done.

I've been working on my armor for at least two and a half, three years now.

It's a constant cycle of upgrading and reevaluating what you've done...

and just trying to work on it.

There's some details to be worked out here to get that real smooth.

The Dremel is your best friend when you're building armor like this.

We don't talk about how expensive it is because-

If my wife found out, I wouldn't be doing it anymore.

Hi, babe. Hi.

How are you? Good.

How was your day? Pretty good. Tired but cool.

I'm a federal investigator.

I work for the Department of Defense...

and I conduct background investigations for security clearances.

Rรฉmy.

Brenda, her job's pretty James Bond,

but it makes for a good balance.

And she helps me keep the house clean, because without her it would be a mess.

I went online to check the recent happenings of the 501st.

The Rose Parade event was coming up, and I had to be a part of this.

I deserve to go, honestly, as much as anyone else in the Legion.

I want to represent it well for everyone else.

So I feel I'd be a good representative for it. It's gonna be a great event.

All right. This is Rodney.

Hello. My name is Rodney Hall, Imperial stormtrooper TK-459.

Thank you very much. May the Force be with you.

He marches all right. Yeah.

What was so funny about this tape though?

Well, he just stands still a lot.

Wait a second. What's he doing?

And the trees are moving.

Maybe he's showing us parade rest.

- It goes on for a while. - Okay. Well, let's fast-forward.

Oh, my God. He's still-He hasn't moved!

He's still-

Six, seven-Oh, my God.

Well, we have to give it to him for fortitude.

Eight minutes and counting. Nine minutes.

He can stand in the costume for the whole route.

Oh, my God.

My name is Jorge Candelas. I'm from Durango, Mexico.

I am 30 years old.

The first time I saw Star Wars- like children wanting to be Superman-

I wanted to be a stormtrooper.

I started making the armor and later on,

with research, I found out about the 501st.

That's when I said to myself, "There's where I belong."

In the whole country, there are 59 members.

But in Durango, I am the only member.

Sometimes you get the feeling of loneliness.

'Cause you are standing alone.

But I know I am not alone.

Maybe I'm physically alone, but I am not alone.

I am representing over 3,000 stormtroopers all over the world,

and that supports me very much.

So if you like it, you find a way of doing it.

This invitation from Lucasfilm was like a dream come true.

If I get chosen, I will freak out!

And if I'm not chosen, I will feel a little down,

but it's a very great feeling you have knowing I am not alone.

And that's enough for me.

Pick me. I want to be with all my friends, all my brothers from around the world.

Thank you. See you there. That's great.

Please, Steve, take me.

My name's Joseph White, and I'm 39 years old.

I'm from Dighton, Massachusetts.

I'm a firefighter

and emergency medical technician on the Dighton Fire Department.

And I'm a member of the 501st New England Garrison.

I come from a firefighting background.

My father was the fire chief of this town for 35 years.

He was my first boss.

It's a small town. It's a small department.

And the guys I work with are great. We've become a family.

Guys, wanna see a picture from the last parade we did?

Which parade was this one? Auburn.

Joe and I basically grew up together, got on the department together.

Actually, between full-time and call, we've been working together 24 years.

I love this picture. I love this kid.

The look on his face is just priceless.

Joe gets really into the part of being a stormtrooper.

It's just like his job.

When he's out on the road doing a call, he gives 110% to it.

And you gotta respect the guy for doing it.

For a time, I was in the United States Air Force Reserve,

where I was a flight medic in the first Gulf War.

Majority of our folks were booby-traps, land mines, that sort of stuff.

And being able to help people, that was a fantastic experience.

Being a stormtrooper, that's really just another extension of what I do-

this needing to put on something and go out and take action.

How you doing?

We're shaking hands with people. We're hugging kids.

We're posing for pictures. We're doing something really fun.

We really do thrive on just being goodwill ambassadors for Star Wars.

I want us to make a difference,

to bring something to somebody else.

You like this guy? Yeah?

You like me? All right.

There you go. Good answer. Good answer.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Darth Vader...

Um, let's see. I already have that one. I'm gonna go for orange.

My name's Heather Eash. And I'm Josh.

When I met Heather, she was playing Star Wars trivia.

So I was like, "That's a cool girl."

We've been married for one year.

When we first entered in, as a married couple, to our reception,

we had them play "The Imperial March." Yeah.

I was always just into the novels.

My first Star Wars book.

Actually, it was probably my brother's book.

But I have since inherited it.

Or stolen it. However you want to look at it.

Downstairs is where the cool stuff in the house is.

We have a room in our house that is set aside specifically for his Star Wars toys.

Yeah.

But he doesn't like to call them toys. Action figures.

This is the collection room.

Hold on to your hats. That's right.

Here's what we've been building since we moved in here.

Everything Star Wars that you can collect-

there's a little bit of it in here somewhere.

We got the statues over here.

We've got the 12-inch figures in the middle of the room.

All the little ones are up by movie.

We start with Episode I on this wall,

and we kind of go all the way through the prequels...

and then start on the original trilogy.

It ends up with Return of the Jedi.

We got ships, Hasbro figures,

Gentle Giant busts.

I'm what they call in collectors an army builder.

I like to not have one trooper. I like to have a hundred.

This is my favorite thing. Heather got this for me for Christmas last year.

I love the way he looks like he's just floating on air.

The news is everywhere that George Lucas is gonna be

the grand marshal for the Rose Parade.

It's like, "Wow. He's actually gonna be there?"

Yeah. And they want 500 stormtroopers.

I was like, "Wow!"

Part of me feels like they might say no to me but yes to him...

because I don't have a stormtrooper but I have a snowtrooper.

So I'm a little anxious about that. I hope not.

I'm gonna get those insoles- nice, soft insoles. That's all I need.

Bring the shorts, 'cause it's L.A., right? It's not rainy like this.

Which one is this? This is Belgian.

The best of the best, I think.

Great location.

Halt!

Look at that.

That's really cool. They spent time editing this.

They really got into it, doing their costume play.

Gives me tingles. They're perfectly in step.

They look like they could march five and a half miles.

Yeah. All right.

Hi, guys.

How are you?

I'm Stefan Cembolista. I'm the acting C.O. of the Belgian Garrison.

You have a lot of fans who love the movies.

Some of them build costumes. Some of them collect things.

We go a step farther.

We built huge machines, not scaled like a model kit, but bigger.

We are totally detail-freaked.

We try to get it as real as possible.

Speeder is ready? Yeah.

Little bit dusty, but good.

This is the speeder bike from the Endor battle, used by the Imperial army.

We even have to build another.

Of course, one is not enough. Never.

We even do reenacting.

We start replaying some scenes from the film.

And it feels funny. It feels really cool.

We have a prisoner.

What do you know about the plans of the Death Star?

I don't know anything.

You have to tell me, or you will waste your life.

I don't know...

You can't say...

A favorite character for me would be the stormtrooper.

It's an evil soldier in the film, but he's fascinating. Hard guy.

He don't stop for nothing, and that's a little bit my character too.

The Rose Parade and the invitation of Lucasfilm...

is the first time we will meet people from the 501st all over the world.

I think celebrating with them, marching with them,

having New Year's Eve with them-

one of the most amazing things you can imagine as a fan.

I would like to give a toast to the Belgian Garrison...

and the possibility that we may go to the Rose Parade this year.

And a toast of George Lucas, the guy who made the film we all love so much.

Cheers! Cheers, guys!

The cap's not moving.

What's happening is, as she bends the leg, this is coming out,

and then it catches underneath.

Are you saying bring the plate forward? Bring the plate forward a little.

Thank you very much.

You're welcome.

Keep it down like that.

Hello?

- Hi. Is this Karen? - Yes, this is Karen.

Hi. It's Steve Sansweet at Lucasfilm. How are you?

Pretty good. How about you? Good.

Stefan? Yes?

Hi. It's Steve Sansweet from Lucasfilm. How are you?

How are you, Steve? Nice to hear you. Great. Great.

- Hi, Rodney? - Hello, Jorge?

- Eduardo. - Sรญ, Eduardo.

Steve Sansweet from Lucasfilm.

"Hi. How you doing?"

- Eric? - Yes, sir.

Now how many folks are there right now?

There's four of us, including myself.

How anxious are you to march in Pasadena?

I'm hoping I get to go, and really looking forward to the trip, sir.

Tell me something. Which of you joined the 501st first?

I did.

I thought there was no fraternizing

among 501st members.

Shh. Don't tell.

So, um, it's the moment of decision,

and I gotta tell you we had a really difficult time.

So we decided to invite everybody who was on the video with you.

We would like to invite you to join...

your fellow 501st members in Pasadena. Yes!

Yes! Thank you.

I hope you can make it. Wow. Thank you very much.

We can hardly break up the Three Musketeers...

so we want to invite you all to come to Pasadena.

"Thank you very much." De nada.

We are very happy to welcome both of you to Pasadena.

All right! Awesome. Cool.

We only have slots for three people from Texas.

The best way to do it...

would be to let you folks pick amongst yourselves.

So what I'd like to do is give you a call back

in about half an hour and get your decision.

Yes, sir.

I wonder if you would be willing to come as an alternate?

We can't guarantee that you're gonna be one of the marchers.

- Okay. - How's that sound?

All right. That sounds good.

Thank you, sir. Thank you, Mr. Sansweet.

- Okay. Take care, Joe. - You too. Good night.

Bye.

- Are you goin'? - I am going to Pasadena.

Yeah!

That's a hard choice to put on us.

I can't say I don't want to go, 'cause I want to go. There's no doubt about that.

- I know you want to go. - I can't say I was expecting that one.

No. No. That was good. That was a surprise.

That was definitely not exactly what we were expecting.

- I'll step down, guys. - You sure?

Yeah. I'm sure. You don't have to-

Are you sure, man? Yeah, I'm sure. It's all cool.

Yeah.

- Hello? - Hi, Eric?

Yes, sir. Steve Sansweet again.

- Yes, sir. - Have you guys made a decision?

Fred Ellis has offered to step down.

So, with Fred's graciousness it'll be Phil, James and myself.

I feel like my guys are gonna represent very well for the 501st Star Garrison.

I really appreciate hearing that...

and look forward to seeing the three of you on January 1.

Yes, sir. Okay. Thanks again, Eric.

Thanks a lot. Thank you.

Bye-bye.

It's okay, Eric. Don't blow up.

- It's all right. - No. I just-I feel bad.

It's cool.

Okay. Paladin.

Paladin. Next victim.

Chris, I do have to say one thing.

Your marriage to Karen gives me hope...

that maybe someday the rest of us have a chance as well.

Thank you. Yeah.

Thank you. God, that did sound-

She is unique though. You know-

She's very unique, and you're gonna-Don't hold out.

Who's killing who?

Rogue--

We have a natural-Come in.

Of course we do.

Hey, Eric. How you guys doin'? How goes the game?

Nobody's winning.

That doesn't surprise me.

So what's up? How'd everything go? Well, you know, I-

I got the phone call and everything else,

but they explained to me that not every trooper can go that wants to go.

But I can go. So I'm going to Pasadena. I'm gonna be marching. So-

Congratulations. Thank you.

Love you. Thank you.

You gonna come watch me? Yes. Definitely.

I need to congratulate you in a properly nerdy way.

May the Force be with you.

And also with you.

Raise for the win.

And there goes the dice.

Testing. Testing.

Is that working?

We'll have to work on that once we get to the event.

Hello, L.A.

- Hi, Jorge. - Nice to meet you.

Welcome to Los Angeles. Thank you very much.

Mr. and Mrs. Sato? Hi. My name is Edward. Yes?

Welcome to L.A. Thank you very much.

We have the FanWars Garrison of Belgium.

It's one member who is here.

He is missing his armor, which is unfortunate.

One of our members from the Belgian Garrison North

is missing his luggage with clothes.

We have about three or four people of the French Garrison

who are missing all of it.

No clothes, no armor.

Maybe tonight or tomorrow we'll get 'em back.

Checking in? Yes.

A pleasure to have you with us. Last name? Smith.

My card or your card?

Hi.

It's four to a room, but Manny's been translating for the Japanese.

Sometimes it's hard for them to communicate with the Americans.

Hello?

"Me"? "Me" who?

How's it going? 459. How you guys doing? Rodney.

How's it going? Jay. Nice to meet you.

What's up? Is that Rodney?

Yeah. How's it going? John Williams.

Nice to meet you. John Williams?

I'll grab this side, unless you guys have a preference.

I don't care. Away from the window.

I'm happy either way.

I'm an alternate. You two guys are both alternates?

But I heard this morning-Uh-oh.

You guys are gonna sabotage us, man.

Six people so far have blocked out before they even got here, so-

That cuts the alternates in half.

Hey, man. How you guys doing? Whoo!

Guess we're gonna get real cozy with two beds. Yeah.

I can be one of the guys,

except for, like I said, the toilet seat part.

We'll keep the lid down for you. Thank you.

Those magic erasers are the bomb for cleaning armor.

Be sure you read everything in that packet...

before you open your action figure.

Thank you.

This is my stormtrooper toy figure.

This is a very special one because it's a Rose Parade one.

So is this an official variation now? It's an official-

Yeah. Ask the people who had to open the packages,

insert George's card and stick on the sticker.

We did that in the office.

We are far away from our cities. We were in the same country.

Now we are with other friends from all over the world. That's amazing.

I watched the original trilogy every day when I was a kid.

There was nothing to watch on TV 'cause I grew up in the Middle East.

Meeting people that we've been chatting with online for years...

and finally meeting them face-to-face.

You guys don't look typically Italian to me.

Yeah, well, when we first arrived everybody was thinking...

that we were like the Texas Garrison. Texas Garrison.

Today has been a whirlwind day.

It's people checking in, flying in from all over the world-literally.

I have a remote control. I like to freak the kids out when we're doing stuff,

because I've got a remote start. Yeah?

They come up and say, "R2 doesn't do anything."

I say, "Sure. He can start the car."

Coming up to 10:30 local time. Back home it's about 6:00 a.m., I think.

So we've been on the go for about 24 hours now.

We're just looking forward to marching tomorrow with all the other garrisons.

I'm here with the Grambling State University Marching Band.

This is our 80th year as a band. We started in 1926.

We've played for kings, queens, presidents.

All over. In and out of the country. Japan. Africa.

But we have never had the opportunity of being in the Rose Bowl.

This is an honor. We're making history here.

We always say we're the best band in the land,

but George Lucas had a sign up that said "the best band in the galaxy,"

so we're excited about that.

I can't wait to see how they pull off this deal.

First of all, the training stuff when people haven't marched before.

I've marched before, so I at least have somewhat rhythm.

But it will be fun to see how they coordinate...

and get everybody on the same step and uniform.

That's gonna be a chore for 200 people.

Eggs and bacon this morning. Gotta get some good energy going.

Holy cow. That guy is a grizzly bear.

I woke up at 5:30 going, "Will that guy shut up?"

I need my clothes.

I need my armor...

because I don't like to march nude.

We are looking forward to have our first lessons in marching today,

because not everyone has military service here.

We have yet to see all of us 501st marchers in one spot.

Your friend Bruce speaks very little English?

Yeah. Hardly.

Do you translate for him? Sure.

I wish I spoke more languages.

- What's your room number? - 158.

158.

Thank you. Thank you.

You got 24?

We're going to our first day of marching practice.

Don't really know what to expect. We all got our helmets on the bus.

We don't have to dress out today. That's really cool.

Send in the clones.

Clones down this way.

Sandtroopers over here!

Snowtroopers, come here, please. Right here.

What we're gonna do now is walk down the line

and give you a number one or a number two.

If you are a number two, you will take a step backwards.

If you're a number one, you will stay where you are, please.

One, two, one, two.

All of you into that corner, please.

They separate us by costume and then again by height.

'Cause I'm a tall trooper, I got selected to be part of the 58th Flag Color Guard.

It's gonna be a much tougher day now than I was expecting.

You guys will not have the luxury of going parade rest like they will.

You guys are gonna be standing straight up all the way through.

Attention!

The squad leader will stick his arm out, and you will dress to his right.

Dress right!

Dress right!

Check your alignment.

Right face!

Face right!

Right face!

You look like a bunch of sad-sack sallies,

and God knows how many millionty,

billionty people are gonna be watching you.

And I keep telling y'all, this is a big accomplishment for us.

We've never had a Grambling band to be in a Rose Bowl.

I want to make the best music that we can make. You see what I'm saying?

Thirty million people listening.

Make the most noise you can make.

Anybody here who's an alternate for this event, please raise your hand.

We had two people that couldn't make it or were missing.

So what we have to do is pick from our alternates...

two people that we felt confident enough to fill in for the two missing spots.

Squad, halt!

Rodney Hall. Step out.

And Glen Borst. Is it Borst?

It was cool. Had a lot of anxiety, but it was good.

So, yeah, I'm proud of it. It's fun. I'm in. Marching.

For the next 15 or 20 minutes, you're just gonna walk as a unit.

Let's do it right! A Company!

Forward march!

Left! Left, right, left!

Halt. One, two.

This side right here went way ahead.

Everybody turn to your right and look where you are in the line now.

You're all over the place like a madman's poo.

At the company level, it's pretty difficult getting everybody in line,

but I guess with anything, it's with practice.

You will not make me look stupid in front of my colonel.

Do you all understand? Yes, sir!

March!

Left! Left! Left, right, left!

I think the hardest part is when we have the helmets on,

trying to find where we're supposed to be in relation to the other troopers.

Left, right, left!

Left! Left! Left, right, left!

Company, halt!

Parade rest!

Sharp and crisp, please, people.

Your parade is five miles long.

You will not be removing your helmets while you are on the parade route.

We would prefer that we step off

and end with the same number of bodies as we start with.

The first rehearsal was a very confusing time for us all.

Marchers for the first time were getting the realization...

that they were expected to really march and get in line.

It takes months for professional military people to learn how to march.

We were trying to do this in days.

So I left that first day very pessimistic about how we were gonna pull this off.

A lot of the guys had never had to get into a formation before,

so it was a big deal for them to just stay in straight lines.

Are you guys jealous that I'm carrying a flag?

Absolutely. No. No.

It's hard work, but it's fun work.

And we're used to that.

I want to hear what you have to tell me, what your observation was today,

how it went with your platoons...

and any comments that came from your platoon, as far as individuals.

The approach I took today with the flag party was a very participative approach.

I wasn't very authoritarian with them.

Tomorrow's gonna be a different story. We've practiced a few things.

We know what works.

If people are still unhappy that it doesn't work, that's just too bad.

I mean, you could have the worst marchers-

and I'm gonna tell you right now-

To be honest with you,

if you've got a person that is not gonna be a really good marcher,

or can't keep in step, bury that person in the platoon.

No, it's not a rehearsal for another Star Wars movie.

These stormtroopers are preparing to attack Pasadena.

In training is an army of men and women

with the 501st Legion,

an international Star Wars fan group that's preparing to bring to life...

the intergalactic movie adventure

during this year's Tournament of Roses Parade.

Aren't you too old to be dressing up?

What do you think those who've teased them for dressing up think now?

We're picking up good, I think. We are better than we thought.

We'll do good, Lucasfilm. Don't worry.

Let's just hope the Force is with them.

I'm, like, tired. Yeah. Me too.

Well, we had a long day of marching today, and it was tough.

So we have a lot of challenges to overcome before parade day.

I feel extremely tired, but I'm feeling great, so-

The countdown is almost here.

I've got the L.A. Times here.

One of the guys went out and I think bought out the entire gas station.

Can see the back of my head. I can see the back of my head!

I'm that dark spot there. Quick. Find your helmet.

- Says "Episode VII: The Rose Parade." - Yeah!

Wow. That's awesome. Pretty cool. It covers three pages.

Grab your bucket!

First platoon, fall in! Second platoon, fall in!

Move your asses!

Where is he? Where is he?

He might be smoking, sir.

I have no concerns with any of you at the minute.

However, if at the end of today,

I have concerns of any of you being able to complete the parade route,

you will not march on New Year's Day.

There will be no more questioning, no more suggestions.

To be frank, you will shut up, or you will be replaced.

Today we've gotta concentrate very heavily on the wheels and turns,

which is actually quite a complicated maneuver.

We're gonna work on one type of turn, and that turn is gonna be the wheel.

Tell you right now, the crucial turn will be the right wheel.

'Cause that's right near where the reviewing stand's at.

If you're gonna be at your best,

you be at your best when we turn that corner at the first stand.

That's when you're being televised all over the world.

You come around this turn and you go into TV alley.

That's where all the big networks are.

So it's gonna be lined with hundreds of thousands of people at that turn.

For these guys, that's gonna be very challenging to do that.

All it is, is you step... and pivot.

Just take a normal step.

And pivot.

Pivot.

All right. Good.

Have pride! Millions of people will watch you do this.

March!

Head to the left. Head left.

Step with me. Step with me. No, no, no. Slow down.

Left! Left, right, left!

Left! Left! Left, right, left!

Right!

Hold on! Not yet.

- Halt! - Halt!

- Halt! - Stop! Okay.

Take your helmets off and look around!

If I'm not turning, don't move forward.

I have to look at the guy in front of me. I'm looking at Tim, so I'm slowing down.

We're way out here by the time we figure out what the hell's going on.

It's midway through day two of our training.

We just got finished doing wheel turns for the first time.

I think we have our work cut out for us.

Everybody go back. Everybody go back.

Their visibility must be very limited from right to left.

There's practically no peripheral vision.

For the biker scouts, there's none at all. Really?

So they do the wheel, then you start to get these wavy kind of lines.

I'm tired. I'm tired. Pretty tired.

It's kind of hot.

Covered in sweat.

Yeah.

Left ankle's blowing up like a grapefruit.

You're not gonna do anything with that foot but rest it tonight.

I will decide if you are gonna march at all tomorrow.

Go clean up. Have a good night.

Be safe, and we'll see you tomorrow morning.

I'm impressed with how far they've come in two days.

Obviously if you've listened a little to Anthony and the drill sergeants-

"Well, you know, we've got a long way to go."

Do they? No.

- No. Do they say that? - No. The drill sergeants say that.

- Yes, yes. - They say they need more time.

These are all professional army guys- most of them-

- They want perfect. - And they want perfect.

There is no tomorrow.

Even if you make your wheel and you're askew from that pink line,

bring it to the center-guide over to the center of that pink line.

That's that line-The center line.

The floats will follow that center line.

That's the center line for the whole parade.

Good news.

Is it possible to check for my baggage?

Yes!

It's time,

because I need to change my clothes,

and I would like to check my armor,

because I don't know if my armors have a good travel or not.

Parade day, I'm a little worried that my armor might fall apart or something,

'cause I haven't had it for very long.

Everyone's been dropping their armor off today,

so I've been doing a lot of last-minute repairs

on their armor before the parade tomorrow.

My name is Steve Sansweet. I'm head of fan relations at Lucasfilm.

All it took was one guy with a really weird idea 10 years ago,

and here you all are today.

And so I'd like to bring up, to make a few remarks, Albin Johnson.

We're right on the threshold of 10 years of us doing the 501st.

You know, people ask me, "How long can you keep doing this?"

As long as it's fun, right? Right?

I've had people look at me

like I'm a rather dodgy investment from the beginning.

You know, they were more than happy

to have me just come out and wave at the crowds...

and be here to support all the guys.

And I told them- I was like, "Yeah, I want to march."

Thank you all, everybody, for being here. This is a dream come true.

God bless you all.

Somebody-Somebody's interrupting this thing.

I know you want to hear me talk,

but, ladies and gentlemen, it's my pleasure to introduce George Lucas.

Um, I just came to wish you well.

Thanks for volunteering for this special mission.

This is a first campaign in our effort to rule the universe.

We have the best band in the world. That will be very exciting.

With Grambling, we can march to victory on this, I'm sure.

And I'll see you for the big day.

They got me stuck way up in the front,

but they promised me I could get on a motorcycle

as soon as I'm done and race back and see you guys.

George for emperor!

Yeah. You'll have a four-hour march

through God knows what kind of weather.

You're all cannon fodder. None of you will probably make it, but-

We will remember you.

I can't even believe he showed up here!

We are very surprised.

When he came out, yeah, I got a little bit teary,

'cause finally here's the man that got us on the plane here

and gave us Star Wars.

One of my big worries was New Year's Eve.

People want to celebrate. I was concerned...

these guys might go out and have a little too much fun, be a little hungover.

I would not want to be hungover

wearing a stormtrooper helmet for five and a half miles.

I think there were two camps.

There were the camp that was, "I'm gonna go to bed...

and get as much sleep as I can, because I have to wake up really early."

See you in the morning. Good night.

Then there was the camp that, "It's New Year's Eve, and I'm partying."

Wow. To meet George Lucas in person.

Touch-Don't touch my beer.

I'm sorry. Ah, I see you.

Three, two, one!

Happy New Year!

And we're staying up all night long! All night long!

'Cause we're Belgian!

Shot of brandy, guys?

The 501st.

Cheers.

Yeah!

Very, very beautiful girls.

California girls. California dreamin'. Yeah.

All right. Get some sleep. We got three hours.

We don't sleep at all- most of the time.

We got here in L.A. for one week.

So we really need every second to see this fantastic city.

How's it looking?

Man, it's looking cool.

We celebrate Happy New Year, like, four times.

'Cause we are not doing this because we have to.

We are doing this because we want to. That's very important.

Where is the MP3 player?

Right there. That's all right.

Ready to go.

All right.

Do they have left and right, or-

Which one's-That one's left.

Left? No. That one's right.

Okay. That one on the bed was left.

It's kind of like he had a squire.

- What bus are we on? - Six.

Six. All right. See you guys down there.

Open the blast doors. Open the blast doors.

Circuit board.

Signal. Oh.

Broken solder joint. Oh, well. No breathing today.

Guys, it's 5:02.

It seems that they had a New Year's Eve party last night directly above our floor.

And here we are trying to get sleep at 10:00-at 2000-

2200 at night, we're trying to sleep.

Next thing we know, we hear- Boom, chick-a boom, chick-a boom

We stayed all night awake drinking some beers.

Some? Some.

For Belgian measurements it's some.

An American guy would be wasted.

I haven't dehydrated yet. Plenty of fluids. Got sleep.

Now, if I could just keep from going insane, I'd be okay.

I skipped coffee because they said it would make you pee more.

So I figured to play it safe. I'm not gonna drink anything until right before I go.

With the Rose Parade.

Give me a war cry. Give me a war cry.

War cry? What kind of war cry you want?

The adrenaline's kicking in. We're beginning to buzz.

Uh, the troop transports have just arrived.

So we're all gonna get loaded up. Off we go to the parade ground.

Go. Go. Go.

I hope somebody has the key.

Percy.

Ian.

Roy.

Rob Slater.

No.

First place to check's the toilet.

Come again, over.

We're missing a guy, but he's probably in the can.

Slater?

Slater.

Yeah.

The first transport is away.

The first transport is away.

No. You start it.

Troopers on the bus go round and round,

round and round, round and round

Troopers on the bus go round and round All day long

Troopers on the bus go clank, clank, clank

Clank, clank, clank, clank, clank, clank

Troopers on the bus go clank, clank, clank All day long

Troopers on the bus say mind your head

Mind your head Mind your head

Troopers on the bus say mind your head All day long

Rough road.

Are you ready, gentlemen?

- Well, I can't hear you! - Yeah!

Okay, let's rock.

- Showtime. - Here's where the fun begins.

Here we go, bucket heads!

Yes, I made it down the stairs.

Fall in!

A Company, obey!

The Force is with us.

A Company, this is far too sloppy!

Fall in close order, you ragged bunch of mop heads!

It's terrific. The uniforms are great.

I wouldn't want to walk in those things.

Halt!

Look. This one's all muddy.

Live from Pasadena, California-

From Pasadena, California-

The 118th Tournament of Roses Parade.

It's the 118th Tournament of Roses Parade, and it's about to begin.

All eyes are on Pasadena, California.

Singers and dancers are warming up

for the big opening number,

which starts in just a few moments.

The floats-covered in flowers

and other natural materials- get some last-minute touch-ups...

before their five-and-a-half-mile trek down the parade route this morning.

In honor of grand marshal George Lucas,

a very special Star Wars spectacular.

USC loves Star Wars!

I'm looking forward to seeing the maker of Star Wars.

It's fantastic. I'm a parade person.

I love parades, and this is the granddaddy of all parades.

Anything special we should be looking for this year?

The Star Wars- Wait till you see this.

I am the biggest fan of Star Wars.

When I was a kid, I went and saw it nine times in the movie theater.

501! 501! 501! 501!

- Can't wait to see them marching. - Are you ready, Alpha Company?

Yes, sir! That's right!

Hello, everybody. We'd like to wish you a happy New Year.

Please say hello to this year's Tournament of Roses president,

Mr. Paul Holman and Miss America, Jennifer Berry.

Good morning, everyone!

This is it. Ready to march.

Don't pass out.

Here comes the B-2 bomber from Edwards Air Force Base.

And it's gonna make a low-level run right over Colorado Boulevard,

followed by three F-22 Raptors.

There's the crowd, ready to go.

And here it is, our first float, and it is called Mother Nature.

She's 45 feet tall. That's 5,000 square feet of surface area.

There's nothing to drink.

I don't want to stop for a leak.

Not easy.

Did you wash your hands?

American Honda presents a pair of fire-breathing,

smoke-spewing dragons.

You're looking at it right now.

Fire coming out. The flames are actually 15 feet long.

Now this is the float that American Idol finalist Katharine McPhee is on.

There she is.

Happy New Year!

This faucet is over 40 feet tall.

Right now we're just standing around

waiting and getting ready to join up with our floats.

Take another step forward.

It's kind of like typical military-

It's kind of hurry up and wait kind of deal.

Halt!

But I'm used to that kind of thing.

Oh, my God. I have to do something. I have to start this thing.

Oh, please, let us walk. Let us march. Let us do something.

You guys aren't gonna want to miss this.

Absolutely amazing.

Absolutely gorgeous float.

You've got 50,000 roses on this float.

600 pounds of macaroon coconut-

There are four waterfalls on this float.

When we make the right flank,

that's when the 30 million people gonna see you on television.

Be prepared to hear me say, "Play! Play! Play!" All right?

Left face!

Left face!

I have butterflies in my stomach.

I'll just try not to fall out and just stay the course.

I'm ready to march. Ready to get goin'.

I'm very nervous, but it's gonna be good.

We're gonna represent the 501st and everybody that's not here.

I wish my son was here. I wish my son was here.

It's Dan the Flying Man.

Hell of a landing.

Showtime.

May the Force be with them all.

God help us.

I'm shivering now. I have to go.

Talk about the excitement here. That's because coming right up behind me...

we have a huge spectacular, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Star Wars.

Star Wars fans, this is your moment.

The Star Wars spectacular.

This stunning 45-foot-tall depiction

of a forest on the moon of Endor...

is the lead float in the special Star Wars spectacular.

It's the Tournament Special Trophy Winner-

exceptional merit in multiple classifications.

And there's C-3PO! There's real Ewoks on there. That's R2-D2.

I just think this is a great float.

Oh, my heavens. Look at this.

A spot-on replica...

of the serene and very green Naboo, which is the garden planet.

This float showcases five waterfalls

and lush gardens of Dendrobium...

and yellow Cymbidium orchids.

A pair of Jedi Knights provide the security

for three of Naboo's queens,

one of which is former Rose Queen Ashley Moreno.

George Lucas!

Greeting his adoring fans

along Colorado Boulevard...

is the grand marshal of the 2007 Rose Parade,

Academy Award-winning filmmaker George Lucas.

Providing the soundtrack

is the world-famous high-stepping...

Grambling State University Marching Tiger Band from Grambling, Louisiana.

That Grambling- they're turning it on, folks.

Oh, look at this. I'm getting goose bumps.

You guys aren't gonna want to miss this.

My heavens.

This is the 501st Legion.

Biggest gathering of stormtroopers

ever assembled, led by the man himself, Darth Vader.

There is no sight

quite like seeing 200 stormtroopers march down your street.

Fabulous.

Left! Left!

Left. Left. Left, right, left.

Here we go. About to do our first right turn.

Let's do it good, guys.

Look at the crowd go crazy as they round the corner.

Stormtroopers!

The crowd loves them.

These are all volunteers, folks.

They come from 22 countries around the world,

and they all make their own uniforms.

They did a great job.

Look at these guys right there. They are in step.

I'm impressed.

Aren't they absolutely incredible?

Probably the most extravagant display

we have ever seen since we've been covering this.

Buckets off!

Guys, you did a great job!

501! 501! 501!

501! 501! 501!

Grambling number one! Number one!

501! 501!

- Man down! - Get back, guys.

Stay back!

Are you awake?

Where is he? Medic, over here.

Let's get his armor off.

Our platoon leader, Tim Knapp, called "Buckets off. We're done.

Go get a drink. Go get something to eat."

And Steve just hit the ground like a sack of potatoes right behind me.

I hope he's okay. I know he's in great hands.

He's in the hands of some of the best EMS on the planet.

He made it.

I hope we get to see him back at the hotel tonight and, uh,

give him a big round of applause.

501! 501! 501!

I love these people.

I love this group, you know.

This is great.

- They would start again. - I know.

We did what we came here to do.

The feeling when we completed it was awesome.

Very good.

It was probably the most challenging thing I've ever done physically.

- Oh, water. - Water.

Thank you so much.

I ran my camel pack dry. I had no camel pack.

This has to be probably the best experience of my life

outside the birth of my children.

It was fun. It was fun. It was a good experience. I had fun.

And I'm pretty sure the rest of the band did too.

We made it. We loved Southern California. We want to come back again.

George, this is Mark Fordham, who is the CO of the 501st.

How are you?

This is Albin Johnson, who's the founder of the 501st.

Thanks.

Thanks for having us. Thank you.

You guys rock.

We gonna go for some beers, man?

- Yeah, man. - Some beers.

- What a day. - First shower.

I call first shower.

I'll live. From the ankles up I feel fine anyway.

Everything leading up to this day has just been huge.

Then now, afterwards, it's just like-

Just one big deep breath.

We realize that there's a chance

there might not be another opportunity...

for so many garrisons from abroad to come here and meet each other.

So it's almost like we made new friends, but now we're losing our new friends,

'cause they have to go home so far away.

I'm on your bus. I'll be there too.

Mate. Take care. Great relief.

You too. See you soon.

In some respects we're happy the training's over

and the marching's over. But in some respect the week went too fast.

We just want to spend so much more time getting to know people.

It's just great to meet everybody from everywhere.

We're all brothers here.

- We are brothers. Yeah. - Brothers from another mother.

People from Japan, Taiwan, Singapore-

All other countries. It's really, really, really great.

Aw, it's great.

Oh, yeah!

Ready to go!

See you, guys.

Bye! Bye, guys!

We'll be inducting the Grambling State University...

into the 501st as friends of the Legion,

'cause they're the best marching band in the United States.

I liked Star Wars, and now I'm a part of it. It's exciting.

I really think Star Wars just has-

There's something about it that just transcends so many boundaries.

Language and everything.

You know, I'll miss all these guys, but I'm taking them home in here too.

Our little adventure. It was awesome.

We did what we came here to do.

And we did Lucasfilm proud.

I was massively impressed and very emotionally driven by that.

From being a little kid, all I wanted to be was a stormtrooper. Now I am.

501! 501! 501! 501! 501!

Where do you hide those plans?

I don't know anything.

This is a diplomatic ship. We don't have any plans.

If this is a diplomatic ship, where is the ambassador?

Take him away!

This is possibly the only Imperial costume

that my husband actually likes to see me in.

Um, it's not an approved 501st costume,

but we affectionately calls this the "femtrooper."

And there's probably about 30 of us, I think, now that have this costume.

So what we've got here is the Imperial walker.

Normally it's worked from steel, but our version is built with wood.

And the outside is pure carton board.

You can put a hole in it. Oh, my God. I put a hole in it.

I rock at this game.

- Are you a bad guy or a good guy? - He's a bad guy.

I'm a good guy.

"What type of droids have on/off switches

located on the back of their necks?"

Back of their necks? Data from Star Trek? No.

This one's for the ladies.

Knowing that Darth Vader would be more heavily scrutinized,

I've spent a lot of time trying to really nail the character,

especially the voice.

I remember when I first got my microphone in my helmet,

how liberating that was.

It didn't sound like I had a bucket over my head.

Okay. Testing, testing.

Houston, we have a problem.
