Handcuffed and being guarded
by Detective Curtis?

BRISCOE: Yes.

BAKER: So Mr. Liriano
couldn't possibly

have grabbed the weapon
from the bag?

I guess not.

had no legitimate reason

to conduct a warrantless
search of my client's bag.

No explicit consent, no threat
to the officers' safety.

there was evidence in the bag.

bench warrant from the drug case

before they uncovered any evidence
against him on the homicide.

If Detective Briscoe had a hunch
there was evidence in that bag,

I thought it might be the money

from the robbery
of Manny Ehrlich.

The officer saw what he thought
was the proceeds from a robbery.

It justifies the search.
