his heart was torn between her

and a sister of the sainthood who had intimately supported him over the years.

And, ultimately, he chose the saint.

The Spirit was so distraught by her love for him that she actually tried to kill Sir Fulland.

So... how did it all end?

The Spirit saved the man she loved.

Saved him?

They came under attack by the monsters again, and she sacrificed herself to keep him safe.

Sir Fulland grieved over the Spirit's death more than anyone...

and went on to build this Cathedral.

It's a very tragic story.

But I get the feeling that it contains an important message.

The hero who failed to keep his loved one safe is telling us not to make the same mistake.

And that we should never give up.
