Numbers are dwindling and this final is

super close, so everybody's breaking down.

you didn't have to do it in public.

Josh, you lost today's challenge.

I'll be seeing you in the Arena.

Rachel, who's it gonna be?

It'll be Cory going down.

CORY: There's no one I can trust in this game,

but I've worked too hard to give up.

Congratulations, Cory.

Why don't you go ahead and pick three women up on that stage?

CORY: Jenny, Michele, Aviv.

TJ: You're the new targets.

We started off with 40 of you, and now look around.

There's a whole lot less,

with every era still represented.

It's not gonna get any easier.

However, you're one step closer to that final.

TJ: It's time for you guys to decide which group you want to send

into the elimination against Leroy and Nia.

BANANAS: Sarah and Jordan

will never say our names.

SARAH: The team I want to pick--

- Bananas and Nany. - You're lying, Sarah. Don't [bleep] around.

They executed the most calculated,

callous, and, uh, heartless move

ever in Challenge history.

TJ: See you guys in the elimination.

[whooping, cheering]

DEREK: Yeah, boy!

Cory's a winner.

CORY: It feels good right now.

I got the job done, and now

I just want to put myself in the best position possible.

I chose two of Johnny's Angels

as targets because we got to break them up.

At this point, I've been working with Tori. I'm hoping

I'm her number two now that Josh is gone.

And then I hope me and Cara can be

each other's number ones.

I just wanted to make sure that you know,

obviously, by me not selecting you as a target

- just solidifying that I want to work with you. - You already did.

Dude, you've only come through for me. And I feel like

I fucking need to do something here.

Feels real good not to be chosen as a target.

Not gonna lie.

Especially this late in the game.

'Cause this could be

the last challenge, so...

I might be going straight to the final.

I just feel like everyone else has a number one.

all of a sudden, you go

from doing absolutely nothing.

You're oblivious. Literally, her entire game's been,

There's alliances? Wait, we're on The Challenge?"

But now, she's like, "Okay, you got to be in my alliance.

We're working together."

As the numbers start to dwindle as we get closer to a final,

everybody who's got these alliances and these deals,

there's promises made to multiple people now,

all that shit

starts to fall apart.

So buckle up, because this is only the beginning.

Do you think it's too late for me to join Cara's alliance?

- AVIV: No. I think you could. - JENNY: I think there could be an opening.

- You think so? - JENNY: You'll be at the bottom of the pile.

- Like, you'll be... - Eh, I don't know. - Depends what you have to offer.

BANANAS: Yeah. Another...

RACHEL: I am working with Bananas. But,

at this point, the two men that are winning

almost every single individual challenge

are Kyland and Jordan.

I obviously know Jordan and Tori are each other's number ones.

But if I can

somehow work out some sort of protection

from Jordan and Kyland,

I can potentially protect myself all the way through to the end.

TORI: It's crazy

how it literally shifted from

all this side getting targeted

to now Cory doing that and targeting two of the Angels.

- That was fire. - Yeah.

Hey, there's our guy.

- There's our boy. - Era Three, my lord.

Era Three!

TORI: Mr. Three-and-Oh.

JORDAN: Yeah, you really are just scratching 'em off the list.

- Appreciate you, brother. - Yeah. [laughing]

I win a challenge, you go down in the sand.

- I'm willing to do that. - TORI: Honestly,

I'm so fucking grateful for you. For real.

It meant a lot to me today. I want you to know.

- It goes a long way with me. It really does. - KYLAND: I know. I know

that since I didn't pick you,

- then I know that you'll be good for it. - TORI: Yeah.

It's not even like I have to question that.

TORI: I'm so grateful that Cory saved me from being a target.

Now that we see the way the cookies have crumbled,

it's obvious that Jordan,

Cara and Cory and I can all work together,

because there is a side forming over here.

And I do hope that Cory

values me as a player and sees that I do have potential to win.

And if I do win, I will help him.

As long as it's not between him and Jordan. [chuckles softly]

I do want to work with you.

That's something that's super important.

You need to have aligned yourself

with the people who can secure wins

- late in the game. - Yeah. Yeah.

Tori and I have gone through a lot

in and outside of this game.

Definitely took us some time to grow

as individuals through that pain.

But now

I'm super proud of the competitor

that Tori has become,

because she just goes head-on into things.

To play with a confident Tori is refreshing

and something that I'd like to think

that I had a small hand in helping.

Well, rest up, guys.

I'm just getting ready for tomorrow.

Don't let the penalty even get in your head, because, honestly,

I'm going in feeling like I have a penalty. I'm so used to it.

And it's at the end, so the pressure's

- a little bit different, you know? - Yeah.

It's that point in the game where it's like

everyone's gonna have to perform to stay, pretty much.

You either have to win challenges

or have to win eliminations.

- You know what I mean? - That's it.

There's no space to hide,

- really. - No.

MICHELE: Me and Aviv are very similar.

We're both smaller,

so we both are kind of underdogs in this game.

And it sucks that I'm a target again.

But this time, Aviv and Jenny are both targets as well,

and they're vulnerable. And so this might just be

the space that we need

to lose one of them.

Let's hope for, like, a game for short people.

- Yeah. Exactly. - [laughs]

AVIV: I have been doing an amazing job

staying under the radar.

But now I'm a target with a penalty,

so I need to win today.

The reality is, we knew this day was coming.

We knew two of the Angels at some point

would be chosen as targets at the same time.

And now we just have to win or go in.

[whispering]: It got quiet.

- Too quiet. [chuckles] - Yeah.

I feel like I'm about to be ambushed.

[Kyland chuckles]

JORDAN: What a entrance.

All right, everyone, welcome

to your next challenge on this season

of The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras.

[cheering]

First of all, Cory,

you absolutely killed it

at the elimination.

Now, with winning comes power.

You chose three targets--

Michele, Jenny, and Aviv.

Michele, Jenny, and Aviv,

if I was you, I would win no matter what.

Because if you don't win,

you're either gonna go into the Arena

or you're gonna go into the Chamber and plead your case

with today's winners

as to why you should not be sent into the Arena

to go against our loser.

Today's challenge is sick.

It is called Tight Quarters.

[groaning]

[Bananas fake gagging]

TJ: Below us are the Cu Chi tunnels,

a massive network of tunnels which were built

by hand during the '60s.

They stretch 75 miles in length

and range from ten to 40 feet deep.

To begin, you're gonna start in one of the tunnels.

When I say go, you're gonna crawl through this tunnel.

And these tunnels are tight

and they are dark.

- KYLAND: Ooh! - CARA MARIA: What?

TJ: There are also rats, spiders,

bats, and fire ants.

Oh, my God.

TJ: So, you're gonna travel through this tunnel

all the way to the end and solve

a slider puzzle.

When you solve the puzzle,

you'll then grab a bag of blocks

and race to your next tunnel.

Now, the second tunnel is a few football fields long,

and it is dark and it is scary.

Once you get out,

you're then gonna race over to the finish line,

where your next puzzle will be solved with your bag of blocks.

Finish your puzzle

and your time will be stopped.

The man and woman to get this done the fastest

will win today's challenge

and be safe from elimination.

Or, if you're a man, you'll be safe

from being the target at the next challenge.

The losing woman today is going into the Arena,

no matter what.

Losing man today,

you will get a penalty at the next challenge.

Aviv, because you lost the last challenge,

you are gonna be assessed a two-minute penalty, all right?

The order for this challenge has been randomly chosen.

Tori, you're up first.

Good luck, everyone. Let's do this.

- All right. - [applause]

TORI: I am not too excited about the tunnels,

but today's all about winning,

so that way, I don't have to go into elimination.

In a perfect scenario,

one of the Angels loses, another one of the Angels

gets voted in against her, and that can shift

the tide a little bit that way.

All right, Tori, let's go.

- [screams] - MICHELE: Enjoy.

- JORDAN: Get in that hole. Get in there. - CORY: Get in there.

CARA MARIA: Oh, you got it.

JENNY: Think thin thoughts. Think thin thoughts.

KYLAND: Oh, you made it.

TJ: Okay.

[Tori yelps]

Oh, my God, I cannot see shit.

[air horn blows]

I can't see anything.

It's just way darker than you imagine.

This is insane.

I'm doing my best to just stay calm,

but small, dark spaces,

like, it's just not my vibe.

- [screams] - JENNY: Oh, my God.

DEREK: Oh, no.

TORI: I'm afraid I'm gonna fall to my death.

Fingers crossed

that I can make it through this alive.

TJ: All right, Tori, let's go.

[air horn blows]

- CARA MARIA: Good luck, girl. - CORY: Good luck.

Today we're playing Tight Quarters.

Each competitor has to navigate a tunnel...

- Oh, God. Oh, shit. - ...to a puzzle station.

Oh, thank God, some light. Oh, my God.

KYLAND: Once you complete that puzzle,

you must run across

and navigate through the next tunnel

to the exit and find your final puzzle station

and complete that puzzle.

I feel like this will be a while.

[inhales]

To win today would be amazing.

That would be my third individual challenge win

since we started this individual game.

Okay, yes. Got it. Check?

Not only that, if I can beat Jenny and Aviv,

there is a high probability

that one of Banana's Angels

would be going into elimination.

- TJ: All right, Tori, let's go. - [grunts] Fuck.

- JORDAN: Good work, Tor. - [applause]

- TJ: Come on, Tori. - MICHELE: Nice job.

JENNY: I don't feel safe

with Tori here.

I know Tori's basically protected by everybody

except Johnny, so I need her to come in last.

That way, she has to go straight into elimination.

to what's happening in these tunnels.

- [screams] - MICHELE: I can hear screaming,

and I'm not very excited for what journey

I have beneath me.

I may have a panic attack, but it's gonna be great.

[panting]

TJ: Hell, yeah, Tori.

Let's go.

- Okay. - Good job.

I am just a little discombobulated

because Dracula just fucking slapped me in the face.

I am thinking this is going to be a very difficult puzzle.

And I'm getting a little nervous.

[grunts]

And then all of a sudden, I see the eyebrows,

the nose, and then that smile.

Oh, my God, TJ's face.

[chuckles]

- Check. - TJ: That is correct.

- [air horn blows] - Hey, quick question. - Yeah.

I-Is that guy ugly to you?

- Right now, he's so beautiful. - I mean, come on-- [laughs]

He's so beautiful right now.

RACHEL: Before I can even blink,

I hear TJ's horn below.

Once again, Tori is the girl to beat.

I'm just hoping that myself, Jenny or Aviv

can do this even faster to beat Tori.

BANANAS: I feel like every challenge so far,

I've been in the lead, and then I hit the puzzle

and it all comes to a screeching halt.

So I have two opportunities to do that today,

but I got to focus on winning and keeping

the Angels safe at all costs.

All right, get in there.

[strains]: Oh, my God.

Oh, shit.

JENNY: Good luck.

TJ: Okay.

BANANAS: I can't see shit.

[air horn blows]

[grunts] Going backwards.

Where am I going?

I've navigated my way through some tight quarters,

but this one takes the cake.

- [creature squeaking] - [shouts] What was that?

It is absolutely pitch-black.

You cannot see your hand in front of your face.

All you're doing is just hoping

and praying that the path that you're on

leads to light at some point.

AVIV: The male winner

will decide who goes in.

So, Jenny and myself,

we're praying and hoping that Johnny

can actually win this challenge.

Somehow, some way, the puzzle gods

- must have blessed me. - [angelic music plays]

A "40" just magically appears on this puzzle board.

- CORY: There he is. He already did it. - RACHEL: Good job.

BANANAS: Is there a possibility that I could win

today's challenge with not one but two puzzles in it?

AVIV: Keep it up, Johnny.

DEREK: It's just common knowledge

that you don't want to see Bananas in a final

because he usually wins them, so I don't

want him to win today.

We need to break up these Angels

and find a way to get him out.

[panting]

TJ: That is incorrect.

- BANANAS: I try every combination. - TJ: That is not correct.

was gonna be a victory, I've now completely screwed up.

I don't know who this person is, but I hate their face.

Unless I'm looking at this and those aren't teeth.

TORI: Bananas is taking such a long time.

I don't know, maybe he dropped one of his puzzle pieces

in the tunnel and had to go back and get them

- TJ: All right, Cory, you ready? - CORY: Let's go.

CARA MARIA: Wow, Cory, you got it.

- TJ: All right, Aviv. - RACHEL: Oh, yeah,

- boop, right in. - JENNY: She's-- oh, she's straight in.

- [air horn blows] - CARA MARIA: So, if there's any challenge

that is actually meant

for smaller bodies, it's this one.

Like, Aviv is absolutely gonna demolition derby these tunnels,

[Aviv grunts]

CARA MARIA: And she's good at puzzles, so if there's any day

that's her day to shine, it's today.

I'm just trying not to think about anything

except moving and moving and moving.

I need to beat Tori, who did it really well.

I'm not really sure if this is the way to go or not,

but we're competing.

There's no time to think, I need to just go.

[clatters]

MICHELE: Follow the tunnel, Michele,

just to kind of mess with us.

Turns out, these bats are real.

off the target board.

JORDAN: Good job.

RACHEL: Aviv is in the tunnel,

and we're waiting,

and waiting, and waiting.

Maybe she got lost in the tunnels

because she's just so small and fast.

She could go anywhere at any point.

I mean, there's other places you can pop up.

a completely different way.

All right. Where am I going?

I pop out and I realize,

like, I don't know where to go.

I had a couple bad challenges,

but this one has, by far, been the worst one.

I felt like I needed to do really well on this.

We are so close to the end.

This is pretty much a worst-case scenario.

I'm feeling pretty good about my speed

moving through the tunnels

and making sure that I solve the puzzles

as efficiently as possible.

But at the end of the day, me not being a target,

all I have to do is not get last,

and that might be

my ticket to the final.

DEREK: Hey. Yo.

[whooping]

- TORI: How'd you do? - AVIV: Well done.

Did really good.

The first part, I did it so fast.

- Like, fast. - Oh, that's good. - Yeah? Good.

DEREK: Second part,

I didn't realize there's a fucking other eyeball.

The eyeball flips. I just saw

one eyeball and I'm like, "Where the fuck

"does this cockeye go?

That just makes no sense."

There's another eye and another mouth.

- JORDAN: Yeah. - Yeah.

- Wait, on the other side? - DEREK: Yeah.

Wait, so there was pieces on...

There was pictures on both sides.

DEREK: There's three pieces with two sides.

[Jordan laughs]

BANANAS: I just feel like I am

the biggest moron that has ever existed.

But this kind of

makes me feel better because now I know

I'm, at least, I'm not, I'm not crazy.

I'm stupid, but I'm not crazy.

And now I've learned that if you can't solve a puzzle,

look on the bottom, 'cause there might be another piece.

A win for me as an individual feels so important.

But then on top of that,

I got to win to make sure Michele stays safe

because up to this moment, she's the only person

who has actually saved me

from an elimination, so,

if I owed anyone anything, it's her.

BANANAS: I know a lot of people look at me

as the person they don't want to run a final against,

but, I mean,

I'm looking around at Kyland,

than any Challenger I've ever seen to win,

which is dangerous,

especially this close to a final.

TJ: All right, Jenny, let's go.

I don't know how fast I am compared to anybody else.

All I know is we're so close to final the now.

Meanwhile, you know, I've never done

an individual elimination.

You know, I think it's pretty frowned upon to get to the final

without having to play in the sand.

So I'm looking forward to taking on that challenge

and proving that I deserve to be here.

It seems like an Angel will fall.

I want to keep Michele safe

more than anything, but being thorough,

of course, I have to hear

whatever case can be put forth by Aviv

and Jenny as I make my final decision.

TORI: It's a really difficult thing to even try

to politick at this point in the game,

but maybe there will be this, like,

swill of information that we were unaware of.

You never know

what Jenny and Aviv are gonna come in with.

- This is what we're here for. - AVIV: I have not been in the sand.

I've been a target many times,

so this is my personal opportunity.

No one wants to go against their friends, of course,

that's been a common theme here.

But Jenny is really strong, she's really fast.

If I did have to go into elimination

on something physical, I'd have a better chance

MICHELE: I mean, I've been in this situation before,

with Nia and with Olivia, so I understand

it's definitely not great,

but we've worked so hard to-to break the cycle.

It just felt like it was always gonna be me.

One of the Angels leaving, that's weakening

the other side of the house.

That would be my ideal situation.

Aviv and Jenny have proven to be

some of the strongest competitors in this game.

When I'm looking at the final,

I don't want to face both of them.

TORI: I think, like,

the writing is just kind of on the wall,

but I just wanted to add

I'm just thinking, like, both of you guys

going into an elimination

and then having to pick targets...

And obviously, both of you would probably save Bananas

from being the target.

Bananas is kind of living in this world where

he has, like, evenly-ranked Angels.

fighting to protect one guy.

consider myself someone

who makes decisions more based off of logic

and strategy, but then part of me always feels a little bit

like our friendship and allyship is part of the game.

For me, as someone who doesn't

know how to fake being nice,

I have to take that into consideration.

It's such a weird feeling,

Then when I say go, you're gonna have to try and get that ball

by any means necessary and throw it over the cage.

However, there is a catch.

The ball has to stay inside that circle for it to count.

If it bounces out, it's a dead ball.

will win tonight's elimination and stay in the game.

My last elimination was about 18 years ago,

so there's obviously some anxiety.
