I was born into a bankrupt noble family.

Our life wasn't easy,

-but the village was kind to us. -Rishia!

My parents and I led a happy life together.

But one day…

Who are you people?

Come with us!

Wait! What are you doing?

Later, I learned that we caught the attention of

a corrupt noble in a nearby town.

Dad! Mom!

We were unable to repay an unlawfully created debt.

The noble took me as payment.

Just when I thought all was lost…

Everything's all right now.

Sir Itsuki had uncovered his crimes.

The Bow Hero came to save me.

Sir Itsuki saved my parents' lives and my life.

So that's the story?

That's why I want to repay Sir Itsuki. I want to be useful to him.

I may have no right to say this…

but I'm sure he's fine.

Thank you very much.

It seems that the meeting has concluded, Savior?

Yes. We set out at daybreak.

For the Spirit Tortoise's shell.

I'm sure…

I'm sure Sir Itsuki will be there.

We cut off the Spirit Tortoise's head, but its familiar, Ost, is still alive.

That means its body can come back to life and go on a rampage again at any time.

Right now, the coalition army needs time to regroup and replenish supplies.

It does imply some risk,

but we'll climb the Spirit Tortoise's shell and find its true weakness.

That seems to be our only option.

We must finish the Spirit Tortoise before it can move again.

And if Ost remembers things when she gets closer to the Spirit Tortoise,

then she'll remember everything on its shell.

That's true.

Oh, that reminds me, Filo. How was the meeting?

Everyone looked really unhappy. It wasn't fun.

There wasn't anything to eat either.

Hey, Filo!

I stayed back because you said you wanted to go!

What?

But Filo was a breath of fresh air among those stone-faced generals.

That's true.

Raphtalia would've just complained about me.

Master Naofumi!

Oh, and the old people said nice things about you, turtle lady.

What?

Well, they said you saved a lot of soldiers' lives.

What? But I don't deserve any praise.

After all, my true purpose is…

What?

Excuse me.

There it is.

Those siege troops know what they're doing.

Can you cross this, Filo?

Yes! I can!

We pray for your safety.

Best of luck, Shield Hero.

We pray for your safety as well, Lady Ost.

Yes.

Ready?

So this is the Spirit Tortoise's shell?

This is going to be rough.

Did those men know who I was?

The soldiers at the bridge?

Yes. The generals sent a message through their forces.

I see.

What's the matter?

No, I just don't understand.

I'm the Spirit Tortoise's familiar.

My duty is to take human souls.

I don't understand why they would treat me so well.

That's because you fought alongside us.

But…

It is true that you may return to your duty

after the Spirit Tortoise returns to its original form.

However…

You saved us when it mattered.

That's right!

I think those soldiers were grateful to you.

They respect you as someone who fought alongside them.

Well, as a comrade in arms!

A comrade in arms?

I suppose it's wonderful that they see me that way.

Well? Do you think you'll remember anything?

Oh, right.

It's not working.

It's like there's a fog inside my mind.

Just like Ost…

Master, when do we eat?

Oh, right.

Should we set up camp for the night around here?

-What? -What?

Are you out of your mind, Sir Iwatani?

You heard Ost.

If we go searching blind, we'll just wear ourselves out.

My! Setting camp on a monster's back!

How bold!

I don't know what to say. I'm sorry.

Aren't they adorable?

What?

They're almost like real sisters.

That's true.

I'm an only child, so I was always envious of such relationships.

I did get all of my parents' attention, though.

Do you ever feel lonely being apart from them?

I decided to leave myself, and they encouraged me and wished me well.

But…

After I was thrown out of the party,

and I couldn't be with Sir Itsuki, the person I wanted to help the most,

I wondered what I was doing with my life.

Even if you had stayed with him, do you think you could have been useful?

Oh, sorry.

I didn't mean for it to come off that way.

I just thought that you could be useful now.

What?

Not as a member of the Bow Hero's party,

but as a member of the Shield Hero's party,

and having fought the Spirit Tortoise.

I'm sure that you can be useful to the Bow Hero now.

I'm sorry!

What? Why did you end up crying?

Things are so much harder for you right now, Ost, yet you consoled me.

Thank you.

-Just the thought is more than enough. -But…

It's all right. I'll be fine.

What?

Ost!

Something just…

Naofumi!

Ost is…

Something's off.

The fog is clearing.

What?

Well, Ost?

That way.

Send aid at once!

It is quite rough on you,

but it seems to be taking quite a toll on Disciple Raphtalia as well.

Are you okay, Raphtalia?

I'm fine.

It must have reminded her of the dungeons.

The corpses of her friends…

Thank you, Filo.

Rishia…

These people lived where the Spirit Tortoise was sealed.

They were certainly prepared for the worst,

but if its current revival is one against its will,

then the stolen souls will never rest in peace.

Did you discover something?

The Shadows have reported a temple ahead.

Please come with me.

Your Majesty.

At ease. Report.

As with the village, there are no survivors.

However, I must say, there is something within which you should see.

Please be cautious as the damages are severe,

and it may collapse at any moment.

According to the records,

this temple worshipped the Spirit Tortoise.

Is this where the seal was broken?

We do not know.

However, I believe that it is likely.

Are you all right?

Yes!

Thank you!

What about you, Raphtalia? Are you all right?

Yes, I'm fine now.

I'm disappointed in myself. I need to get used to these things.

No, you don't.

What?

You shouldn't get used to them.

These things…

You don't need to get used to them!

Thank you, Rishia, Eclair.

Oh, no! I spoke out of line again.

My apologies.

This is…

A turtle!

Gosh. These are ancient runes.

"Spirit Tortoise."

"Guardian beast of the world."

You can read them?

What? Yes, a little.

This text is among the most basic.

I go through hell just trying to read a grimoire.

It seems this explains what type of monster the Spirit Tortoise is.

There doesn't seem to be anything written about the seal.

Lady Rishia, you seem more in your element here than with the sword.

What? Oh, I'm sorry.

No, it's good to know your strengths.

It might be better to have her focus on that over martial arts.

That may be true,

but that girl is far more skilled at manipulating the life force than others.

When I said that the day I passed on the Hengen Muso Style mastership was near,

I was speaking in earnest.

Master Naofumi.

I pray that it is.

What is it?

This looks like the otherworld's writing that the Heroes use.

The ones we use?

Yes. It will be difficult to decipher them immediately.

No way…

Master Naofumi?

It's in Japanese!

Japanese?

It's from my world.

What?

Writing from a country called "Japan."

This is how you write in your world?

We call it "Hero Script" in this world.

One of the Four Cardinal Heroes of ages past must have written it.

Some parts of it are missing. It's hard to read, but…

"Seal."

"Seventh."

"Broken."

Seventh?

Is it related to this?

USAPIL JERKY, 5 TO FILO USAPIL JERKY, 2 TO RAPHTALIA

The Spirit Tortoise's seal and the way to break it are written here.

Ost, can you read it too?

No, but I'm starting to remember.

The Spirit Tortoise…

To defeat the Spirit Tortoise…

This is bad! It's collapsing!

Damn! We're retreating, Filo!

Okay!

No! These invaluable ancient texts…

Your Majesty, this is not the time!

I must apologize.

Release me!

Oh, a knight's mercy!

That was quite close.

Another Shadow reports evidence of the Spirit Tortoise resuming activity.

What? Already?

Unfortunately, it seems we are running out of time.

We must get off the Spirit Tortoise at once.

Damn! We were this close!

No need to fear.

I have remembered how to defeat the Spirit Tortoise.

Is that true, Ost?

You must enter the Spirit Tortoise's body and destroy its heart.

Go inside the Spirit Tortoise?

But how?

There is an entrance to the Spirit Tortoise's body in this structure.

If you proceed through it, you'll reach the Spirit Tortoise's heart.

I see.

We're going into the Spirit Tortoise.

Yes!

Roger!

No, this won't do.

Queen, Eclair, and Old Lady, you three, get off.

Please wait, Sir Iwatani! We will go with you!

Yes! Do not consider us useless!

I need to say something now…

Exactly.

I want you guys to command the coalition army.

If the Spirit Tortoise starts moving while all of us are gone,

it will all fall apart.

I see.

I respectfully accept your command, Savior.

…or I'll be left behind.

Good.

Rishia, you follow them and wait at the rear--

No!

I'm going with you!

Is this about Itsuki?

Naturally, I'm concerned for Sir Itsuki.

But I'm part of your party right now, Naofumi.

If you're all going, then I'm going too.

Yes, you're right.

Sorry about that.

Let's go.

Raphtalia.

Filo.

Ost.

Rishia.

Yes!

This is creepy.

We're inside the turtle's stomach?

Yes. This is probably the Spirit Tortoise's colon.

Master Naofumi, that's vulgar.

If its staple food is human souls, I wonder what it excretes.

Master Naofumi!

I'm just asking simple questions.

You don't need to ask them!

It doesn't smell weird.

-You're right. -Filo, stop.

What? Why?

Thank you.

For coming with me.

Oh, no. I'm not worthy of any thanks.

The Bow Hero and the other Heroes…

I only hope that they are here and safe.

Like I said earlier, I'm part of Naofumi's party now.

I'm only here to stop the Spirit Tortoise, just like what everyone here wants.

You're hopeless.

But this is how Rishia always is.

It's the usual Rishia!

What?

Get back!

What? Are you humans?

First Light!

Are you adventurers? What are you doing here?

What? Oh, well, the Queen sent us here too.

The Queen?

Would Queen Mirellia give orders to an unknown adventurer in this situation?

I mean there's no harm in having more help, right?

Well, we're going that way.

See you, kiddo.

Hold it.

Raphtalia!

By the power I bear, I command you,

heed my law and reveal their true form!

Anti-Mirage!

Wait! You guys are…

I guess you figured us out!

Long time no see, kiddo!

L'Arc! Therese!

And…

We even put on a disguise…

You didn't actually care to hide yourself, did you, L'Arc?

No way…

You couldn't be…

Glass?
