After repelling the Wave of Catastrophe,

I was granted Raphtalia's birth home of Lurolona Village as a reward.

Restoration has continued, and we've gained new allies.

Things are going smoothly.

In the next Wave, I'll defend all the people I've met--

Oh, my.

Be careful, now.

Yes, my lord.

-Let's go! -Okay!

Come on!

Gather your life force in your chest!

Like this?

Yes! You really do have potential!

The day I pass on the Hengen Muso Style mastership is near.

What? Really?

Darn.

I don't really get this "life force" thing.

Oh, Shield Guy!

Oh, Savior!

You're hard at work, Keel.

You bet I am!

Old lady, don't go too easy on Rishia.

What?

Her basic stats are low compared to her level.

Well, that is true!

PENGUIN COSTUME

That costume's power can't be ignored,

but you can't rely on it completely.

I know that,

but when I'm wearing this, no one knows when I'm feeling down,

so I can keep trying, I guess?

There's no doubt that she's skilled at manipulating her life force.

Why she never trained it is beyond me.

The ideas behind your Whatever Muso Style

aren't really known in this world.

Hey, Master.

Can I fight alongside everyone in the Waves too?

Not a chance.

What?

There isn't even a week until the next Wave.

There isn't enough time to turn a weakling like you into a real man.

Darn!

Then the next Wave after that!

Train me up real good before then!

I like your spirit!

But, for learning the sword, I wouldn't be--

What are those?

Let's go!

Yes!

Wait! I'm going too!

Thank you.

Wait just a second!

Got it!

Raphtalia! Filo!

Master Naofumi!

Master!

I see. It seems I wasn't needed.

Looks like it.

What are these things?

A NEW SHIELD HAS BEEN UNLOCKED

FAMILIAR'S SHIELD, BAT

"Familiar"?

Is it a type of inter-dimensional monster?

No, there's still time until the Wave.

The countdown…

What is the matter?

It stopped.

What?

And what's this blue number?

Can you tell us what's going on?

I don't know.

Rishia?

Was that the party you were in?

Four Cardinal Heroes,

I thank you for responding to my sudden summons.

I believe you know the reason I have summoned you here.

The bat monsters?

Yes, those creepy things.

So you've encountered them as well?

Do you know something about them?

I've never seen anything like them before.

They didn't seem like the dimensional monsters from the Waves.

Yes. And about that…

-The Wave countdown stopped-- -So it seems that it is true.

What do you mean?

According to reports, the legendary monster known as the Spirit Tortoise

has been revived in the Kingdom of Reiki.

Spirit Tortoise?

Legend has it that every several hundred years,

it brings about unprecedented disaster throughout the world.

The monsters you encountered

are likely due to the Spirit Tortoise's revival.

Unprecedented disaster? That's like another Wave.

Sorry, but I have urgent matters to attend to.

Me too.

Same here.

We're very busy people.

Hey!

We are here to deal with the Waves.

That is the only reason we were summoned to this otherworld.

We don't have time to deal with anything else.

Isn't that right, Naofumi?

Sir Ren.

Let's go.

Sir Motoyasu!

Did you ask my dear Mom if I could return to being a princess?

Sorry, My--

Whore, there isn't time for that now.

Let's go.

What? But…

Sir Motoyasu!

Useless fool.

You seem to be well.

Pardon me, Sir Itsuki…

Have you contacted your parents yet?

Yes!

I sent a letter to them, I guess.

I see.

Sir Itsuki!

My only desire is to make the world better with you!

You aren't cut out for it.

Naofumi can train you all he wants, but you can't do it.

What?

Sir Itsuki!

Why do you think Sir Itsuki banished you from the party?

To distance you from the dangers of the battlefield?

No.

It is because you are slow, weak, and useless.

Mald, that's enough.

Rishia, are you okay?

Are you sure about this?

You called us here to request that we slay this Spirit Tortoise.

Based on their actions, it appears I do not need to make such a request.

I'll say.

I'll bet they had events like this in their games.

What?

No, never mind.

So, Sir Iwatani, will you accept this request?

If you're okay with me shirking my responsibility as a Cardinal Hero.

The Kingdom of Reiki is very large,

but several checkpoints and autonomous domains have been destroyed.

A great number lie dead on its path to the capital.

The kingdom lies far to the east,

but it is only a matter of time before it arrives here in Melromarc.

If it does, your domain may fall victim to it, Shield Hero.

You really are a good politician.

Is Melty doing well?

Yes. She's overseeing my domain.

We were just rousing the people to make that domain

into a bridge between humans and demi-humans when this chaos started.

She told me to leave the domain to her and wish you well for her.

It seems her travels with you have been a truly great experience for her.

Yes, I'm sure.

Both for her mind and the domain.

Anyway, I'm going to go and slay that Spirit Tortoise.

Oh, is this true?

My…

Shield Hero, you truly are gracious.

The countdown to the Wave stopped, so it's probably best to focus on this.

That is also very concerning.

I'll look more into it later.

So are the four of us enough to slay it?

Perhaps we should speak regarding the matter.

Oh, I see.

So you kids are going to fight this Spirit Tortoise?

Word travels fast. Where do you get all this news?

The whole kingdom is talking about it right now.

Melromarc is also dispatching an order of knights

to form an allied front against it.

Yes. The Four Cardinal Heroes are getting sent as the vanguard

to get a grasp of its strength.

Our Queen is as bloodthirsty as ever.

You're telling me.

-Rishia. -What?

What do you think of this?

I…

I think I'm better suited for magic than the sword.

I'll be a failure no matter what I do, anyway.

But…

Rishia, are you a failure?

Yes, I'm a failure.

At least you can use a weapon.

Oh, I'm sorry.

Hey, the room just got darker.

Rishia!

What? Yes?

I have a great idea!

Excuse me, Raphtalia. Where are we?

Don't worry. No need to fear.

What?

What? Oh, my.

You were the one with Shield Hero.

Rishia, would you care to become a slave?

What? A slave?

What?

If you become Master Naofumi's slave,

the Shield Hero's power will accelerate your abilities' growth.

What? But…

You will grow stronger than the Bow Hero's followers very soon.

Now remove your shirt and bare your chest!

Raphtalia.

Yes?

I don't want to force anyone else to become a slave.

Oh, I'm sorry.

When I thought that Rishia could grow like I did…

Sorry.

It's fine if she wants to become one,

but you're the only one who would actually want to be one.

That is true.

-You still want to be one? -What?

Never mind.

What is it?

Excuse me, but how can I help you today?

Oh, sorry. We don't need anything--

Please do.

Please make me Naofumi's…

the Shield Hero's slave!

Pardon me.

Rishia…

Rishia…

There.

Now you are the Shield Hero's slave.

Good grief.

You're usually so indecisive,

but you can be decisive for stuff like this.

SLAVE C

Do you want Itsuki's acceptance that badly?

Yes.

That is why I asked you to train me, Naofumi.

I see.

Then I won't ask anything else. I'll train you, just like you wanted.

What?

Quit that unnecessary exclamation.

What?

No. I mean, yes!

Thank you again for agreeing to help!

Okay, we're going back to pack up.

We're heading to the Kingdom of Reiki first thing in the morning.

-Yes! -Yes!

I'm so hungry!

Master Naofumi, those people we saw earlier…

They were probably escaping from the Kingdom of Reiki.

Doesn't that mean that the situation forced them to escape?

That may be the case.

What? Master?

-What? -Yes, he's here.

Right now, we're far in the east. We're going to the Kingdom of Reiki!

Okay, I'll ask.

Master, Fitoria is asking if you're going to where the Spirit Tortoise is.

What? Fitoria?

Filo, are you talking to Fitoria?

Yes. For some reason, I can hear her.

Is that hair an antenna or something?

I see.

Then tell the Shield Hero

that's the choice we discussed before.

If the Cardinal Heroes still do not get along…

"…then you can do something about the Spirit Tortoise," she says.

The choice…

That thing about the world demanding sacrifice?

How is that related to the Spirit Tortoise?

She says she doesn't know.

"Think for yourself," she says.

So she's mad, huh?

Excuse me. What does she mean?

Well, if Master and the Spear Guy don't get along…

Fitoria, the Filolial Queen, will kill all four of us.

What?

Does that mean Sir Itsuki too?

No way!

For now, we'll just have to go to the Kingdom of Reiki.

Did you hear?

The Spirit Tortoise is already attacking the capital.

Seriously? Then it will be here soon too.

But they said that several kingdoms joined forces to fight the Tortoise.

Apparently, the Four Cardinal Heroes were called as well.

That's the thing!

The Four Cardinal Heroes!

They challenged the Spirit Tortoise, and three of them died!

Really?

And in the first place, what are they doing about those Waves?

Honestly, the people who summoned the Heroes are all so stupid!

-Sir Itsuki! -Hey!

Rishia?

After her, Filo.

Okay!

Wait!

You jumped out of the cart without a clue.

Where are you going?

But…

But Sir Itsuki…

Calm down, Rishia.

Filo, can you talk to Fitoria?

What? Yes, I can.

I don't know if she would know, but are any of the Four Cardinal Heroes dead?

Ask her for me.

Well, she says they aren't dead.

You heard her.

So just calm down.

Rishia!

If any of the Four Heroes dies, I'll be in trouble.

Let's start by asking around to see where they--

Master Naofumi, over there as well!

What are those things?

The checkpoint!

Raphtalia and Filo, follow me!

Rishia, take the residents to town!

-Yes! -Okay!

Oh, yes!

Shield Prison!

Spiral Strike!

Everyone, quick! This way!

It's still safe inside the town!

-Move it! -Yes!

Filo! Cast it over there!

Okay!

Drifa Tornado!

You two, cover the stragglers! I'll hold them off!

-Yes! -Okay!

Hate Reaction!

Come on!

Tornado Shield!

He's done it!

Good. That should be most of them.

Crap! There's more than before!

Wrath Shield!

That's…

Please get down!

Dark Curse Burning!

Master Naofumi!

Master!

Naofumi!

Sorry.

It wasn't that bad.

Please don't try to pretend.

You can tell?

Pardon me, but you are the Shield Hero, I take it?

Yes. That's right.

As I thought.

Please…

I beg you to kill me.
