What are you three doing?

Master Naofumi!

Master!

Honestly!

How long did you have to sleep?

What's going on?

After the battle against the Pope,

I lost consciousness and was brought here, the royal hospital,

where I slept for three days straight.

According to Raphtalia,

the Queen came straight to me and cast healing spells.

A month to full recovery?

My wounds are gone thanks to healing magic.

MIRELLIA CAST DRITTE FALL HEAL NAOFUMI

It seems that time is the only cure for the heavy curses on you.

The Wrath Shield. Blood Sacrifice.

A double-edged skill that destroys both the enemy and yourself.

The curses on these three are lighter. It must be thanks to Fitoria.

We have come to change your bandages, I must say.

"I must say"?

His bandages were just changed...

They aren't nurses. They're Shadows.

I heard you had awakened, so I came at once.

I am relieved to see you restored.

Mother?

I mean, Your Majesty.

Allow me to introduce myself again.

I am the Queen of Melromarc, Mirellia Q. Melromarc.

Thank you so much for saving Master Naofumi.

Not at all. I only did what was natural.

Sir Iwatani is one of the Four Cardinal Heroes.

He will save this world from the Waves.

Considering that,

the people of this kingdom seem to hate the Shield Hero quite a bit.

Even before I was framed.

Master Naofumi!

Allow me to explain everything.

I was away from Melromarc,

at a conference discussing how to combat the Waves.

After the conference, each country would summon one of the Four Cardinal Heroes,

and together, repel the waves.

But before the conference was over,

all four of the Four Cardinal Heroes were summoned by Melromarc.

The other countries were infuriated by this,

and I visited each one to quell their rage.

And it was all done by that trash King and bitch Princess?

Naturally, I left a trustworthy regent to manage the kingdom in my absence,

so as to prevent them from acting rashly.

However...

While Her Majesty was absent,

the First Wave broke, and he lost his life.

He was the Lord of Seyaette.

Seyaette...

So that's how it happened?

But more importantly, Melty.

What?

You're talking weird.

What am I supposed to do? We're in Her Majesty's presence!

I'm pleased to see a face of Melty that I never see.

I hope you'll continue to get along with Sir Iwatani.

Mother!

So?

Why does everyone hate the Shield Hero so much?

Aultcray has a reason for his long-standing hate of the Shield Hero.

The Three Heroes Church took advantage of it to use him.

You mean a Hero that came before me, right?

So I just happened to get caught up in his feud?

Then Malty involved herself and laid false accusations on you.

Things would've been pretty different if another country had summoned me.

Yes.

For example, the Demi-Human-superiority country of Siltvelt.

In their country, the Shield Hero is worshipped.

Maybe I should go to Siltvelt.

I have no right to stop you from doing so.

However...

I promise to do all in my power to undo your disgrace

and restore your name, Sir Iwatani.

Furthermore, for your feats in the previous Waves

and for defeating the Three Heroes Church,

you will be conferred the highest decorations of the kingdom,

as well as 500 gold as an award.

Master Naofumi!

Can I eat a lot of food with that?

Of course!

Yes!

Finally, there is something I would like to speak with you and only you about.

Raphtalia, Filo, let's go back to our rooms.

Oh, okay.

Okay! I'm hungry!

Are you displeased with this?

I'm sure you're plotting something behind all this.

Melromarc can no longer survive without relying on the Shield Hero.

I have no intention of staying in this country.

I'm going to go wherever Waves happen and repel them all.

That's the fastest way to go back to my world.

I understand.

On that note, Sir Iwatani, how is your recovery?

As you can see, I can walk without any problems.

Then may I ask for your presence at the castle tomorrow?

The castle?

In order to clear your name of all crimes before the public,

and to punish Aultcray and Malty...

At this moment, only you and I know of this.

Whether you stay or leave this kingdom, this will be done regardless.

This is Melromarc's...

No, the Queen's, way of making amends.

Are you sure? It's your husband and your daughter.

It is something which must be done.

They have done things deserving of this.

The citizens have already been informed

that if possible, they are to assemble before the castle.

I would like for you to come if you are at all inclined.

Naturally, I do not think it will be enough to quell your anger,

but do consider.

See?

That's amazing!

Master taught me to do it!

What did the Queen talk to you about?

Nothing important.

She said she would clear my name of all crimes,

so come to the castle tomorrow.

Really?

Hey...

I'm so glad!

Everyone will finally know that you never did anything wrong, Master Naofumi!

I'm so glad!

Why are you looking at me like that?

You're getting what you deserve!

You did things deserving of death!

Master Naofumi?

Is something wrong?

No, nothing.

But--

We have an early morning. Get some rest.

I don't care what happens to them...

Why can't we enter the castle?

What do you mean, only the Shield Hero's companions may enter?

Mald, please calm down!

Will you be quiet?

-There are a lot of people outside. -Yes.

Where's Melly?

She went with the knights as soon as we reached the castle...

She must be with the Queen.

I'm glad to see you alive.

You look just fine, considering you used that cheat skill.

If only my insides looked as good as my outsides.

More importantly, have you seen Myne?

I haven't seen her since the battle.

Maybe she's busy being a princess.

Maybe she's preparing a surprise for us for defeating the Pope?

Oh, that's it! That's got to be it!

Four Cardinal Heroes, please enter.

Thank you for coming, Four Cardinal Heroes.

Where's Myne?

The King isn't here either.

Bring them in.

Myne!

Sir Motoyasu! Save me!

The King's shackled too?

What's going on?

As you can see, they are criminals.

What?

Now let us begin.

The foolish Prince Consort and the First Princess shall be tried for treason!

Tried for treason?

The King and the Princess?

This is getting interesting, kid.

Mama! How could you do this to your own daughter?

My Queen, how can you enact such tyranny?

This is not like you!

The Four Cardinal Heroes shall bear witness

to the Queen's judgment of criminals who have shaken the kingdom

to its very foundations with their crimes.

What?

Has the Shield Demon brainwashed you too--

The Shield Hero has no such power.

That is understood with even a moment's reason.

What is that?

In order to ensure truth in testimony,

you will be placed under a slave seal for the trial.

Mama!

A slave seal?

How can you do that to your own daughter?

Malty has a tendency to falsify truth.

No! I'm a sincere and honest good girl!

No! Mama!

Now the trial is called to order.

However, your crimes are far too clear for any defense.

We don't know that yet!

And what crime did she do anyway?

We have to start there?

The recent chain of events,

culminating in the defeat of the Pope,

who wielded the False Cardinal Weapons to murder the saviors of our world,

the Four Cardinal Heroes.

Remnants of the Three Heroes Church are being arrested as we speak.

So what about that?

I am greatly troubled that the King and the First Princess colluded with them.

What?

Do you object to the charges?

I would never collude with the Three Heroes Church--

The First Princess involving herself with an attempt at a coup?

No! They didn't only try to kill the Shield!

They tried to kill the other three Heroes!

And then the royal family!

I would never involve myself in a plot like that!

See? Myne didn't do anything--

And the attempted assassination

of the first in line to the throne, Princess Melty,

and the attempted framing of the crime on the Shield Hero?

I said, I didn't do--

Malty...

Malty, is this true?

No, it isn't, Papa! I--

You schemed with the Three Heroes Church to assassinate Melty

and become first in line to the throne.

To do so, you falsely accused the Shield Hero of abduction

and lit on fire the forest through which Melty escaped.

Is this true?

Melty is my beloved sister.

I would never--

It's true that she seemed to want to kill the Second Princess.

Yes, I saw that with my own eyes.

No...

Malty, how could you?

You also colluded with the Three Heroes Church,

summoning all Four Cardinal Heroes in my absence.

We required the power of the Heroes to repel the Waves!

And the Shield committed the ultimate taboo upon my daughter!

That's right! Naofumi assaulted Myne!

Then I shall ask Malty.

Were you assaulted by the Shield Hero?

Yes! I was nearly raped by the Shield Demon--

Lies!

This is all a sham!

Then perhaps you should take Malty as a slave, Spear Hero.

Yes! And I'll prove Myne's innocence!

Okay. Myne, that night,

you were assaulted by Naofumi and begged me for help.

Right?

Yes! I was frightened to death, and Sir Motoyasu--

What? It was a lie?

Now that I think about it, it had to be.

She'd do that to the Shield Hero?

The farce continued well into the day.

My name was cleared before the public.

And yet...

my heart didn't feel clearer at all.

Was it because I knew what was coming after?

Was I anxious in anticipation for it?

I believe this is sufficient evidence.

These two were royalty, yet they used base and brutish means,

without providing evidence to any fact,

to destroy all who stood in their path

in attempts to gain power for themselves.

No. I--

Yes, I have done something no king should do.

But it was for the good of my beloved kingdom and my beloved family!

That is why I attempted to eliminate the Shield!

The Shield is a demon!

The Shield will bring upon my family what the Shield brought upon my family before!

I will never allow that to happen!

Never!

He wasted his final opportunity to defend himself.

That's how much he hates the Shield Hero?

I shall present my judgment.

Aultcray Melromarc XXXII and Malty Melromarc

are guilty of high treason and conspiracy against the crown.

They are stripped of royal titles, and furthermore,

sentenced to death!

No!

Death?

Your Majesty, that is far too heavy!

Yes! Death is too much!

Pity on the Princess!

Their duty was to defend the people of the kingdom,

but instead struggled for power.

They did not even send aid to people affected by the Waves.

How many of our people have been injured and died from this?

Such is unforgivable.

You must have seen it with your own eyes.

All of the sorrow and rage.

Yes...

The execution shall be performed today, immediately!

Let these fiends' ends be an example to the kingdom!

A festival?

It's just like in my dream.

The fiends shall be beheaded!

Deceiving the kingdom, the people, is a crime worthy of death!

That applies hundredfold to the royal family!

That shall be made clear here and now!

Yes! Do it!

My daughter! Because of you!

This is for my house!

This is for my dead family!

No!

No!

Is this right?

Is it?

Save me!

Save me! Sir Motoyasu!

Sir Motoyasu!

Sir Naofumi!

Please! Save me!

Sir Naofumi!

Stop!

Death is too light a punishment!

If they die, that's the end!

Don't they deserve worse than that?

The slave seal didn't even react!

They tried to ruin me, and now they beg me in earnest for their lives!

They must have some thick skin!

Maybe the guillotine can't cut it, are they worth a broken guillotine?

Master Naofumi!

So I've got a suggestion!

The King's name is now Trash!

The First Princess's name is now Bitch!

Trash?

Bitch, you said?

They're going to live the rest of their lives with these names.

And if they don't like it, they can take their death sentence!

On that note, Malty has taken the name "Myne" as an adventurer.

What of that name?

Then Bitch's adventurer name...

will be Whore.

The greatest victim of their schemes, the Shield Hero,

has shown the greatest compassion for them.

Henceforth, King Aultcray shall be known as Trash,

and Princess Malty shall be known as Bitch,

and her adventurer name shall be Whore!

Furthermore, the greatest cause of this incident, the Three Heroes Church,

shall be dismantled immediately!

The national religion of Melromarc shall henceforth be the Four Heroes Church!

Four Heroes Church?

They worship all four Heroes equally!

I like that!

They aren't enemies of the Three Heroes Church or Shield Church.

I get it now.

Maybe she was the best deceiver of us all.

Hey, Naofumi!

Where are you going?

The festivities are only just beginning.

Perhaps you will not assist our kingdom after all?

We will next present honors and awards for your great feats.

You could stay for--

None of that crap interests me one bit.

But I will assist you.

And not just Melromarc.

All the countries in this world.

We have to save the world from the Waves.

We're the Four Cardinal Heroes.

You...

Indeed, you are.

However, we shall not be satisfied unless we present a gift.

We shall provide you with anything you so wish.

I'll think about it.

Okay, then us three can head to the ceremony.

-Yes. -Right.

Thank you for all you've done for me.

Come with us, Melly.

Filo, don't be unreasonable.

Thank you too, Raphtalia.

I will make Melromarc a kingdom where Demi-Humans can live in peace.

Yes. I believe that you can do it, Melty.

Raphtalia! Filo! Hurry up or I'm leaving you behind!

-Okay! -Oh, yes!

-Excuse us. -See you again, Melly!

Oh, that stupid Naofumi! How can he be so cold-hearted?

And so ungrateful too!

Mother didn't deserve--

Mother?

If Sir Iwatani had not stopped the execution,

I would have traded my life for theirs.

What?

Perhaps Sir Iwatani saw through my plans from the beginning.

Naofumi!

Melty didn't say anything to you, Master Naofumi.

Well, that's how it goes.

It's because you didn't give her a chance to.

Like I care.

Please...

Savior!

Shield Hero!

Master Naofumi! These people are...

To the Shield Hero!

Raise your swords!

Those guys...

Best of luck!

-Hero! -Come by again!

Naofumi!

Naofumi! Thank you!

Thank you for bringing me back here!

And for saving Father and Malty!

Yes. See you.

Yes.

The first time I left these gates,

I had lost all trust, money, honor, dignity as a Hero,

all because I became the Shield Hero.

I don't think I've regained all of it, and I don't care to.

I've gained something more important because I became the Shield Hero.

If there is a Wave,

no matter where it is, I'll go there with my friends.

Because it's the Four Cardinal Heroes. The Shield Hero's duty.
