(Episode 27)

Did you not expect this?

I did not.

The Queen Dowager said I only had to pass the second round.

If I become a concubine...

I must meet the Queen Dowager.

Do you still trust her?

She is an expert at using people for her own gain.

She is the one...

who tried to kill the Chief Peddler in her own chambers.

My lady.

You trust the Chief Peddler, do you not?

Trust the man you love and wait just a little bit.

As I promised, Lady Han has entered the third round of selection.

Now it is the time for you to return the favor.

Yes. As promised, I shall help...

the Third State Councillor's daughter become Queen.

The King has been meeting the Queen Dowager often.

I believe...

he will side with her in the selection process.

The third round will be held much later...

and there are already rumors...

that the Third State Councillor's daughter will be Queen.

Is it because of that Ga Eun girl?

Yes. It seems the King promised the Queen Dowager to make...

the Third State Councillor's daughter Queen if Ga Eun...

is made a concubine.

If this comes to pass, the third round is practically pointless.

The third round...

It will be utterly pointless.

Your Highness, will my daughter really become Queen?

It practically decided.

You will soon become the King's father-in-law.

Is there no other way to invalidate the selection process?

I apologize, Your Highness.

I shall try and persuade Lee Sun in person.

It will be of no use.

When he broke our promise,

it was because he had made up his mind.

I told you to lie low.

Is it urgent?

I must find a way to get...

Ga Eun out.

Yes, Your Highness.

I want Lady Han to be comfortable.

Provide her with everything she could need.

Yes, Your Majesty.

What is that?

The Chief Peddler sent you a gift.

Open it.

Sun, ever since I found out you are addicted to poppy,

I searched every day for an antidote.

I finally found it.

Take these pills and be free of the addiction.

Your Majesty, what are those pills?

The antidote to the poppy.

What? Are you sure that is the antidote?

The Chief Peddler says so.

Only Master Dae Mok...

knows the formula for the antidote.

How did the Chief Peddler get his hands on it?

- He... - Do you really trust him?

Your Majesty.

I once saw him look upon you with a glare of disloyalty.

When did you sense that?

The second you covered Lady Han with your robe.

Your Majesty, there are two pills.

If you wish to take them, have your royal taster take one first.

It is her duty to taste everything...

before you do.

Did the silver remain clean?

Yes, Your Majesty.

It seems it is not poisonous.

I believe it is safe for you to take.

Your Majesty.

Call the physician. Now!

She has died.

We have discreetly disposed of the body.

He called me a friend,

and said he would avenge...

my father's death.

I believed him,

but he tried to kill me.

He is just like those scumbags that killed my father.

He probably considered me a beast he could kill at any time.

Yes.

Perhaps...

he never intended to keep me alive from the start.

- I... - Please calm down, Your Majesty.

Hyun Seok, do you trust me?

Yes, Your Majesty.

I trust you as well. If it were not for you,

I would have been the one...

who would have died instead of Court Lady Seo.

Your Majesty.

Hyun Seok. You said that I am the true King to you,

did you not?

Yes, Your Majesty.

You alone are the true King to me.

Even if the Crown Prince...

who supposedly died is in fact still alive?

The Chief Peddler...

is the true Crown Prince.

The true Crown Prince who should be sitting...

on this throne.

I need to go somewhere.

What brings His Majesty here at this hour?

I want to become King.

I want to become...

the true King.

You want to become...

the true King?

Yes. If you make me the true King,

I will do anything Pyunsoo Group asks.

You are already the King.

I am...

a fake.

The fake wants to become the real thing?

How?

Do you wish to remove the mask...

and show your real face to the world?

Or do you wish to use me as a stepping stool...

and become a real king, rather than a puppet?

That is not it.

If that is not it,

what is it, exactly?

For me to stop being a fake,

the real one...

must die.

Master Dae Mok.

The real Crown Prince...

is alive.

Have you seen Gon?

My lady,

Master Dae Mok wishes to see you right away.

Gon. Gon!

Grandfather. Why have you done this?

Gon is my person. If he deserves to be punished, I should do it.

That is why I did not...

kill him myself.

He is your person,

so you kill him.

Grandfather. Why are you doing this?

Will you receive the punishment...

for deceiving me?

Or will you kill Gon and avoid being punished yourself?

All of Pyunsoo Group's fighters...

carry a vial of the potion that can hide their pulse.

That night,

Gon had one on him.

It must have been a relief for you.

I do not understand what you are speaking of.

What did you hear that you did this to Gon?

Now I know your real reason for becoming the head of Pyunsoo Group.

What did Gon say?

Did he say I deceived you?

Gon...

refused to say a word.

Then why are you doing this?

Hwa Gun!

Gon is your person.

I have plenty of mine.

So? What did your person say?

That the Chief Peddler...

is the real Crown Prince.

How could my own granddaughter...

save the Crown Prince...

that I, Dae Mok, tried to kill?

How despicable is that?

Hwa Gun.

Father, what is going on?

Hwa Gun. I will give you another chance.

Do you have anything to tell your grandfather?

Even if you found out...

that the Chief Peddler is the Crown Prince,

that changes nothing.

You have made me a promise.

You promised not to harm the Crown Prince.

That is correct.

I did.

If you break your promise...

and kill the Crown Prince,

I shall kill myself before your very eyes.

Hwa Gun.

Father, she is still immature.

I will talk to her, so please...

Guard!

Lock her up. Do not let her out without my permission.

I will.

Grandfather. I will win over the Crown Prince's heart.

Please let him live!

Grandfather! Please let the Crown Prince live!

Please let the Crown Prince live! Please, Grandfather!

Grandfather!

My lady.

I came to ask you...

for a difficult favor.

The Chief Peddler...

asked me to relay this letter.

What did he say?

He says he will come for me tonight.

Show your face.

Now.

Why are you doing this to us?

Your Majesty, they have disobeyed the royal command...

that forbids court ladies from leaving the palace.

Well done.

Why did you attempt to leave the palace in secret...

without permission?

Your Majesty,

she is not at fault.

Please forgive her...

and punish only me.

All right.

I shall forgive her.

Do you have any other wish?

Follow me.

Did you forget what I told you?

Why do you keep helping the Crown Prince?

Why...

should I not help him?

How could you say that after what just happened?

Her name was Yang.

She changed my mind to want to draw the map.

It was Yang.

She moved my heart when I had been living as...

a bystander for a long time.

Father.

Even now, so many children are dying in that poppy field.

It is only he, the Crown Prince,

who can fight against Pyunsoo Group...

and who is willing to do so.

He is the only one in this country.

What do you intend to do?

Like one child's desperation moved my heart,

I will try to move your heart...

with my desperation.

Father.

Please help the Crown Prince.

I am ready to accept...

any kind of punishment.

Lady Ga Eun.

How can you not recognize me at all?

You and I...

spent so much time together.

- Your Majesty. - Do you still...

not know who I am?

Your Majesty, please do not do that.

Lady Ga Eun,

it is I,

Lee Sun.

Sun.

It is...

not a dream, is it?

It is...

not a dream.

Are you...

really Sun?

Yes.

I am...

the Lee Sun that you know.

I have been waiting for you so long.

Your mother, Kko Mool, and I...

waited so much for you.

I...

waited too.

But...

why...

are you here?

Why are you here wearing the mask?

Sun.

Five years ago,

the real Crown Prince...

made me wear this mask...

and ran away.

Ever since then,

I have been pretending to be the King,

threatened by Dae Mok.

Was it not enough...

for him to kill my father?

Did he do such a thing to you as well?

Yes.

The Crown Prince...

did so.

Why did you not tell me sooner?

I had no idea...

and thought you were the one who had killed my father.

Why did you hide it from me?

The Crown Prince...

told me not to tell you the truth.

He...

told you to keep it from me?

Yes.

He is someone you know.

Lady Ga Eun, the Chief Peddler...

That man...

is the real Crown Prince.

The man you think is Chun Soo.

He is the one who killed your father.

Master Chun Soo...

is...

the real Crown Prince?

Yes.

That cannot be.

There must be a misunderstanding.

He cannot be the Crown Prince.

You must be mistaken.

He is...

the Chief Peddler.

He is someone...

I love.

- No. - I...

should have told you the truth sooner.

Please forgive me.

Are you certain that...

Master Chun Soo...

is the Crown Prince?

Yes.

Where is Ga Eun?

My apologies.

She could not come because we got caught on our way out.

I will go get her.

There are guards everywhere.

It is too dangerous to go inside in secret.

- But... - Master Chun Soo.

Ga Eun.

You are safe.

My lady.

How did you get out?

I met a friend from childhood...

and he helped me get out safely.

Ga Eun, let us hurry before the morning comes.

Thank you so much for helping us.

We will never forget your kindness.

Please be safe on your way.

Ga Eun.

Did something happen?

I forgot to bring something important.

Can you come with me, please?

You said you forgot to bring something.

How did you get the key to the greenhouse?

Here it is.

This is more important than my own life to me.

Would you like to take a look?

Deputy Magistrate Han Gyu Ho and Adjunct Park Moo Ha, I order you...

to thoroughly investigate the Bureau of Water Supply's construction.

I, Han Gyu Ho, will take your order, Your Highness.

It is the only proof that will allow me to redeem...

my father's honor.

It proves that my father did not impersonate...

the Crown Prince, but only followed His Highness' order.

My father was a faithful servant of this country,

but he was falsely accused and passed away.

That day,

my life changed.

The reason...

why I was able to get through each day was because of you...

- Ga Eun. - and...

my determination to take my father's revenge.

Chun Soo.

Are you...

the owner of this greenhouse?

Are you really...

the Crown Prince...

who killed my father?
