It's really a year round job as far as being an athlete,

There's definitely times where you wish,

you just long for a day off or an hour break

and you can't always get it.

I've been trying to tell myself

sometimes, just take a step back and you know,

just for a second kind of relax and,

and enjoy where you're at right now.

- I'm looking forward to going back to

football when it was pure, like the purest form again.

Because now it's not just football,

it's all the other stuff that's-- it's recruiting,

it's rankings, it's image, it's media.

I miss the times where like, you pay--

you played and then when it was over,

everybody got their juice box.

If I could go back again and talk to myself

Mater Dei being the, you know, national power that it is.

It was, kind of, just too good

of an opportunity for me to pass up.

There's all these expectations.

I just kind of embrace it.

- [Bryce] It's about an hour and 15 minutes

to drive from Pasadena to Mater Dei.

So, the sacrifices that my parents made

just to try to put me in the best circumstances

that they can, it's definitely a blessing

for me to have them in my life.

I started getting recognized and stuff.

- [Anthony] I had a chance to graduate over the summer.

A lot of stuff was running through my head.

What if I do get hurt this season?

Or what if the team like, falls apart?

And I was like, maybe I should just go straight to college.

But then I thought, I was like,

most of the seniors on that team,

we play at little league ball.

I've been with you guys forever so,

take advantage of it and just enjoy it.

And then how exciting is that for you?

- Well, yeah, it's definitely exciting for me.

You know there's a lot of challenges

throughout the season, throughout the year,

that I have to work on and push through

and to have that confidence, that support,

you know, means a lot for me.

- I've been around a hundred years.

In the sixties, I played at Mater Dei high school

and we were popping people good.

When I came on in the nineties, we started rolling.

Somebody said,

"Well how do you feel about being

the number one team coming out in 2019?"

I feel great about it.

We're a national brand and now

we just have to go out and defend it.
