of coffee and bacon drifting
upstairs on a winter morning.

of your footsteps in hallway.

Daddy, I have a picture in my
mind of you that is so clear.

I can just see you walking
across the meadow...

through a new-crusted snow.

I'll never forget those things.

I've stood under the kitchen
window and I've listened...

to the sounds that this family
makes at dinner time.

Everyone's talking, nobody is
listening to anybody else.

The sound of the talk
is so beautiful

you just oughta put it to music.

The way it drifts out
on the evening air.

It's the sounds of this house
that I'll never forget.

Especially that one moment...

when we're all in bed...

we're all safe...

we're all together
just before we go to sleep.

When we say good night
to each other here.

Daddy, I don't know what kind
of Waltons these two would be...

if they had to
grow up without all that.

I think, really,
the decision is theirs to make.

since that 50th anniversary.

My grandparents
are no longer alive.

And most of us have moved
to other places in the world.

We go home when we can...

our spirits are renewed...

that flood back...

in that wonderful old house...

that stands in the shadow
of Walton's Mountain.

There comes the moon
right where it belongs.
