its ugly head, a scary one.

The scientific name of this virus
is Pharyngitis Megistos.

The public has decided
to commonly call it "the Swells."

The origin of the disease
is still debated,

given it only cropped up about
a month ago in Eastern Europe.

But experts theorize...

that it might do better in
a more temperate climate...

such as our great state.

I'm gonna teach you
how to survive this bad boy.

Swells begins like many
other viruses with a sore throat.

A bit painful, but ultimately harmless.

But that's where this virus is different.

It begins with the normal inflammation,

which may even be treatable
by simple home remedies.

However, the virus doesn't stop
its reign of terror there.

Within a half a day,

one or more of the parathyroid glands
forego their job

of regulating calcium in the body.

Instead, they begin to convert
the calcium into a thick pus.

After about two days of production,
the pus increases

and it begins to build in the pharynx.

The pharynx swells...

and your sore throat gets worse.

Then within an hour, the amount
and size of those calcium deposits

will increase tenfold.

Those things aren't pimples.

They're embedded even deeper
than the skin layer, down to the bone.

the calcium will begin
