nicknames, so we had to do research

to make sure that they
end up with the right soldier.

When we couldn't make out the names,
because some of them were smudged, um...

Some women writing letters spray
them with their favorite perfume,

and, well, some of our soldiers
were able to recognize those perfumes.

It was a chore,

but we were able to match the sender
with the state where that perfume was sold

and then trace it back.
