[The Night is Still Young]

[Episode 26]

Ye Beichen has meticulously plotted,

disguising himself as Ji Wuming to secretly enter the palace.

He must be planning to send Weiyang away

and rescue the Emperor.

Why don't I play along with him?

It'd be more interesting to make him lose everything,

leaving him without even a place to be buried.

Sorcerer King, you look well today.

It seems you have fully recovered.

You're here just in time to hear

the Crown Princess and me perform "Phoenix Seeking a Mate"

and see whether it can be considered a harmonious duet like a couple in sync.

I... know nothing of music.

My zither skills are not proficient.

I'm sorry for spoiling your mood.

It doesn't matter.

Today is our wedding day.

We will perform this piece again together.

But... but according to the Sorcerer King,

today should be the day I leave the palace.

However, I've also heard

that the Crown Prince, as heir to the throne,

is not bound by conventional etiquette.

But time is running short.

I'm afraid the preparations might not be adequate.

Don't worry.

I've already had everything needed

for the wedding prepared.

I'll send someone immediately to deliver them.

You can just go back and wait for the auspicious hour.

Go.

Then, please, Sorcerer King, pray to the gods for blessings on my behalf.

Crown Prince.

Keep a close eye on Weiyang and Ye Beichen for me.

If there's any unusual movement,

capture them immediately.

Yes, Your Highness.

[Grace and Talent]

[Grace and Talent]

My lady,

is there really no other way?

Ye Mingxuan is already getting suspicious.

He is holding the wedding now

to test and take revenge.

My lady,

why don't you try to escape?

Even if it costs me my life,

I will help you escape.

From the moment I entered the Eastern Palace,

I never expected to leave alive.

But I believe

the King will certainly not stand by

and let you marry the Crown Prince.

It's all happening too suddenly.

If Ye Beichen comes to rescue me,

it will certainly disrupt his plans.

No, I can't hold him back.

Today, Ye Mingxuan and I

must settle our accounts once and for all.

Ye Beichen.

Tonight will be Ye Mingxuan's time of death.

I will personally slay my enemy

so that you can live on well.

Ye Beichen,

How could I let you marry someone else?

♫A sword in the heart, a farewell waves over the land♫

♫This life has slipped away♫

Uncle.

Your timing couldn't be better.

Today, I will ruin your reputation,

making you the eternal sinner of Great Ye!

Ye Beichen won't just stand by

and watch Weiyang marry me.

He will surely show up to disrupt the wedding.

When that happens,

you'll lead the death warriors disguised as Eagle Guards.

First, deactivate the mechanisms in the Emperor's bedchamber,

then kill the Emperor.

Bring the Eagle Guards before everyone

and frame Ye Beichen for regicide.

Why are you still standing there?

Seize him for me!

Yes, Your Highness!

Shangguan's army, heed my command!

This is General Shangguan's military tally for the Imperial Guards,

bestowed by His Majesty himself.

♫The night is still young, I will not betray the people♫

To see this military tally is to see the Emperor himself!

♫Nor will I betray her♫

The bearer of this tally has the authority to command troops!

♫This empty city is so regrettable without you♫

Rebellious traitors, disrupting the state

♫Even if the skies fall♫

and endangering the Emperor!

Shangguan's army, join me in eliminating these traitors immediately!

♫Covering my eyes♫

♫In the next life, no more separations♫

It's you!

Ye Mingxuan,

I've been waiting

for the moment when you men turned off the mechanisms.

You've saved me a lot of trouble.

Ye Mingxuan's sudden decision to hold a wedding

must be a ploy to draw me out.

I suspect

he's trying to use others to do his dirty work.

And the best way

is to have his men,

disguised as Eagle Guards, kill the Emperor

and then frame me for it.

Ye Mingxuan's intentions are indeed sinister.

However, this works in our favor.

He plans to kill the Emperor,

so he'll surely deactivate the mechanisms around His Majesty's bed.

We'll turn his plan against him,

using him

to solve our most troublesome problem.

I have already rescued His Majesty.

Your crime of attempting to kill His Majesty is a capital offense.

Surrender now!

Who wins and who loses is still uncertain.

Quick, pursue him!

Yes, sir!

Are you alright?

All the soul-breaking needles have been removed.

What has happened to me?

What's going on?

I thought Ye Mingxuan was merely ambitious,

but I never imagined he could be so vicious

as to commit such vile and treacherous crimes.

I didn't notice any of it over all these years.

It's just that Ye Mingxuan was too good at disguising himself.

Even I was kept in the dark by his scheming for many years.

His evil ambitions had yet to come to fruition,

so of course, he had to keep them well hidden.

Things have come to this point

all because of my selfish desires.

I only wanted to pass the throne

to my own son.

I shall personally issue an imperial decree,

offering a substantial reward for Ye Mingxuan's whereabouts.

Should he dare cause further unrest,

he may be executed immediately on the spot.

Brother.

Weren't all the soul-breaking needles

removed from His Majesty's body?

How could this happen?

I know my body

is beyond repair.

My condition is beyond medical help now.

Everyone must die eventually,

and I am no exception.

But what concerns me most

is Great Ye.

I made the mistake of treating the empire

as my own,

without considering the common people of my Great Ye.

Now I understand.

What Great Ye needs

is an emperor of both virtue and talent.

Beichen.

I want to entrust Great Ye to you

and have you ascend to the throne.

Brother,

I have fought on the battlefield for many years.

I have no interest in court affairs.

Please reconsider your decision, brother.

This is not just my will.

I speak on behalf of the millions of people of Great Ye

to entrust the empire to you.

You have repeatedly rendered meritorious service to this nation.

You can defend against foreign enemies and guard our borders

while maintaining order and quelling unrest within.

With you as emperor,

both the court and country will find stability,

and the people can live in peace and prosperity.

By the mandate of Heaven,

the Emperor decrees:

I accept the gracious mandate of Heaven

and the command of the late Emperor.

I hereby designate my brother to ascend the throne

and solemnly announce this to Heaven and Earth.

A general amnesty is granted to all under heaven.

Let a new era dawn with the people

to forge a new governance together.

The late Emperor has passed away.

By ancestral tradition, the entire realm should observe mourning.

However, with the rebel still at large,

stabilizing the state is the top priority.

♫The wind stirs the war flames, and the rain-soaked fur returns with the geese♫

The senior ministers have discussed and decided

♫In the capital, the pace of carriages and horses is slow♫

that the new Emperor should ascend the throne in the presence of the coffin of the late Emperor.

The coronation ceremony shall remain simple.

♫Several lifetimes of devotion, yet this bond remains unresolved♫

I guarded the borders, repelled enemies,

and rooted out traitors and rebels

♫Entangled in grudges, love hangs by a thread♫

not to become emperor.

♫Unable to part with the eyes♫

I know.

You did it for the countless subjects of Great Ye.

♫I point to the moon, questioning beneath it, before the city tower♫

As the elder brother passes, the younger brother ascends.

♫She's in red♫

Are you worried

♫With angry eyes, a word severs grudges♫

that future generations

will leave an unjust evaluation of you in history books?

♫A sword in the heart, a farewell waves over the land♫

I don't care how those historians write.

♫This life has slipped away, the next life will be complete♫

I care only

♫A heart of purest jade♫

that Great Ye's lands

♫In the dim night, searching for her, past a thousand sails♫

remain vast and fertile.

♫Watching the snow fall, year after year♫

♫The song is not over, making a promise to grow old together♫

You're worried that you can't bear this burden

♫The night is still young, I will not betray the people♫

and that you'll let down the royal ancestors and the people.

♫Nor will I betray her♫

As a descendant of the royal family,

♫This empty city is so regrettable without you♫

if I could be like Pangu...

with my flesh becoming mountains

♫Even if the skies fall♫

and my blood forming rivers

to nourish the people,

♫Covering my eyes♫

wouldn't that also be a kind of perfection?

♫In the next life, no more separations♫

Our Shangguan family has been loyal for generations.

Rest assured.

I will stand alongside you

to guard Great Ye.
