[Are You the One]

[Episode 3]

Your qin sounds so sorrowful.

Are you thinking of Lady Liu?

Any news about Miantang?

Rest assured, Young Master.

Our people have gone deep into Zhenzhou.

We'll receive news soon.

Leaves bloom in the summer,

but this crab apple tree has withered.

Whether she returns or not, I will stay with you.

Young Master, we found her.

We found Lady Liu.

I'm not going.

You're going to the Go Club.

Let's deliver the invitation together. Wouldn't that be better?

Why are you making excuses?

We just play Go sometimes.

Inviting them to a meal is not sophisticated.

I'm not going.

It's up to them if they want to come,

but it's our duty to invite them.

Even if the guests don't come, we can't be careless.

I've been thinking all night about what you said yesterday.

You said the banquet would clear my name.

The best way to do this is to deliver the invitation together.

Nanny Li.

Is the carriage ready?

Yes.

Fine.

I haven't even spoken, and the carriage is ready.

Let's go.

Husband, why do you look so unwell?

I don't.

Take a look.

Take a look.

[Lingquan Go Club]

Esteemed guests, please come inside.

Brother Jiu Jiu.

Greetings, everyone.

Sit! Sit!

Continue! Continue!

Brother Jiu Jiu.

Jiu Jiu is here.

Perfect timing. I wanted to challenge you.

Brother Jiu Jiu. Why not do it today?

- How about… - Some other day.

Today, I'm just showing my wife around.

- Please continue. - All right.

Are you on friendly terms with them?

Of course.

Then the invitation…

Let's give it to them over there.

Brother Jiu Jiu.

Continue.

Brother Jiu Jiu.

- Go on. - Brother Jiu Jiu.

Brother Jiu Jiu.

This is where we practice every day.

We're all very friendly with each other.

I can see that.

Brother Jiu Jiu.

Jiu Jiu, you're a little late today.

- Yes, yes. - And who is this?

This is my modest wife.

Madam Jiu.

Nice to meet you both.

It was a last-minute decision, hence the delay.

We are new to Lingquan Town

so we plan to host a banquet in two days.

We hope you can honor us with your presence.

- If you host it, we'll definitely come. - All right.

All right. [Invitation]

You're quite lucky, aren't you?

Yes! Yes!

Their skills are no better than a seven or eight-year-old child.

- After you. - My husband can't even beat them?

Be more careful.

I didn't expect you to be so well-liked here.

Of course.

Everyone here practices every day.

We are all very friendly with each other.

- Brother Jiu Jiu. - Brother Jiu Jiu.

- Brother Jiu Jiu. - Greetings, everyone.

Jiu Jiu.

Madam.

Sir, we meet again.

So your husband is Jiu Jiu.

Yes.

We plan to host a banquet in two days.

Sir, you must come.

[Invitation]

My husband's Go skills are not very good.

We hope you can guide him in the future.

His Highness's Go…

"His Highness"?

- Who? - What Highness?

Prince of Huaiyang?

His Highness said Jiu Jiu's skill is quite good.

Did you play Go with Prince of Huaiyang?

No.

His Highness once passed by our club and saw from afar.

Exactly.

If my husband's poor skills can be praised,

then Prince of Huaiyang's skills must be average.

[Zhendong Villa]

[Cui Family's Banquet]

I know a shop that is close by.

- Let me take you there. - Is that so? Let's go take a look. - Look there!

Isn't that Madam Cui's carriage?

Look at the Cui family showing off.

I heard Madam Cui went to Mount Lang early this morning

to offer the first incense at Tianning Temple for her husband.

I must say. They just arrived here as a small merchant.

Why show off, rent such a big villa, and let the whole town know?

It's too pretentious.

It is to silence you gossiping women.

You… Who is he?

- So nosy. - What kind of person is this?

- Let's go. - It's so stinky. Let's go.

Master Cui is hosting a grand banquet,

but only Madam Cui took it seriously, even offering the first incense for you.

Very interesting.

Brother Cui. You're already engaged.

How would Cousin Lian react to this?

It's just a show for business.

In two months, when Madam Cui is pregnant,

will you still say it's just business?

It's uncertain if the carriage will reach Zhendong.

My lady, take a look.

[Wine]

You're too harsh on ladies.

Madam.

Madam, are you all right?

I'm fine.

Madam, the carriage has fallen apart.

- Is there a saddle in the carriage? - Yes.

- Put it on. - Understood.

Madam, you…

Is it him?

Madam, it's ready.

Your hand injury hasn't healed. How will you ride?

The banquet is for me. If I delay any longer, he'll be totally disgraced.

Madam.

Liu Miantang is unique.

So? Should we continue with this business?

Only when she's in the show will some people join in.

Five aces, seven horses.

Drink! Drink!

Let go. I'm not drunk.

Cui, get out here!

Why isn't he here to give a toast? Where is he?

Young Lady.

Come out here.

- Madam. - Have you seen him?

Master was invited to drink by his club friends.

He's very drunk and is resting in the tea pavilion.

I'll go and see him.

Madam Jiu, thank you for the hospitality.

Right now, Xiao Jiu is very drunk.

- He… - Madam.

There are still many guests.

You are the hostess. You should greet them first.

I have to entertain the ladies in the backyard. How can I manage the front yard?

But the master won't wake up anytime soon.

These neighbors and friends are easy to handle,

but those merchants are crucial to the master's future.

We can't ignore them. It all depends on you.

Thank you for attending our small banquet.

I am Madam Liu, Cui's wife. Greetings, everyone.

It's our first time here, and we don't know Lingquan's customs.

I apologize for being a poor host tonight,

so I'll drink this as punishment.

If you have any special food or drink requests, please let me know.

Later, my husband and I will toast again.

All right.

Much appreciated.

Your Highness, everything has been checked.

Most guests are innocent locals from Lingquan Town.

However, there are a few who are not from our town.

- Which ones? - Everyone, enjoy your food.

The one in front of Lady Liu is one of them.

There's not enough wine here.

I'm sorry. Bicao, bring more wine.

Yes, Madam.

No problem. My friends have nothing to do.

- Let them come along. - Yes.

Why don't I join you?

Madam, please show me the way.

Please wait a moment. I'll bring some more wine.

All right. Keep an eye on things.

Yes.

What now? Did the fish take the bait?

Well. Which one is Lu Wen?

None of them is Lu Wen.

At first, I only wanted to see if he would come,

but now I'm sure he won't.

- Have you met Lu Wen before? - No.

Then how do you know the scholar she just spoke with isn't Lu Wen?

That scholar is definitely not him.

Bicao, is there enough wine?

Madam, the wine in the front yard is finished. I've sent them to bring more.

Go ahead.

Did you notice that?

While talking to Liu Miantang, that man unconsciously glanced to his side.

The real leader is the maid beside him.

- Is there enough food? - There is, Madam.

- Thank you for your hard work. - Thank you, Madam.

If I were Lu Wen,

I would send someone close to check the situation,

and then decide whether to take Liu Miantang back.

The real Lu Wen would be even more cautious than me.

Liu Miantang.

It has been so long since we last saw her.

Where is Madam Cui?

- She is making us wait so long. - Exactly.

Madam Cui. We were looking everywhere for you.

We are waiting for you to start the drinking game,

- and you are here hiding. - She is right.

I apologize. I was focused on the front yard and forgot about the backyard.

Then you should drink three cups as punishment. Otherwise, we won't let it go.

Right.

You there, Housemaid. Bring a jug of wine.

Madam Cui, will you stay here to "set-up the residence" or return to North Street residence?

"Set-up the residence"?

Isn't the banquet hosted to set-up the residence?

The set-up of the residence must be done by the married couple.

In Zhenzhou, this banquet is also called "Sweet Night."

It lasts all night.

- Am I right? - This villa is good for hosting guests,

but the residence set-up must be done in the main house.

Otherwise, it will break a rule and bring bad luck to the residence.

Am I right.

Madam,

the master asked me to tell you he would return soon

and to wait in the room.

Ladies, please take your seats.

I will join you shortly.

- All right. - Hurry then.

Look.

The shadow guards have surrounded the villa.

Why do we not just capture them all?

"Capture them all"?

I'm after Lu Wen.

Aren't you afraid Liu Miantang will join him and escape?

That would be best.

You can't let the bait rot in your own hands.

I must feed her to the enemy.

That's the entertaining part.

Madam, where are you going?

What's wrong with my husband?

I must find him.

Master's Go teacher arrived.

He wants to see if the master's skills have improved.

Master couldn't refuse so he was delayed again.

Is he still playing Go at this hour?

Master knows he is wrong.

He said you have every right to be angry.

He asks that you rest, and he will apologize personally later.

If you recklessly act now,

won't you embarrass him in front of his teacher?

Inform His Highness. The fish took the bait.

Yes.

Your Highness, a suspicious man, possibly Lu Wen, has secretly visited Lady Liu.

- Fangxie. - Madam.

Quickly call for help. Tell them there's a villain in my room.

- A villain? - Quiet. Don't alarm the guests and disrupt the banquet.

- Hurry. - Yes.

Do you think it's those suspicious people?

We will know once we see it with our own eyes.

What's wrong?

I'm sorry. Did I burn you?

- Liu… - I'm in a hurry.

If I burned you, I will apologize later.

Don't you remember me?

I'm Yun'er.

Yun'er?

Yunniang.

I'm Sun Yunniang. Do you really not remember me?

I'm sorry, I'm new to Lingquan Town.

I've forgotten many people. I will remember you.

A villain has broken in. It's unsafe for a lady to be here.

Follow this road to go back.

Sweetheart.

I'm here.

Sweetheart.

Do you remember when you pricked my neck with a hairpin?

You didn't prick my neck

but my heart.

Let me tell you. I like your fierceness.

It's very exciting.

Where is she?

Isn't the medication strong enough?

Do you like to play hide and seek?

Then hide well.

If I catch you, I'll show you my skills.

Sweetheart.

I saw you. Stop hiding.

Look at me, handsome and charming.

I'm so lovable.

Come here.

Let me hug you.

Let me go.

It's burning me!

It's so hot.

Husband?

How dare he come after I stabbed him?

He ruined our carefully arranged banquet.

Luckily, you arrived.

If you were late, I'm afraid

I would have fought that lecher to death.

That's unfortunate.

You wanted to make friends, yet you ended up alone here.

Madam, you are too modest.

With your skills, there is no reason to worry.

Husband, do you blame me for being reckless and hurting you?

It's my fault.

This small injury isn't your fault.

Lies.

I said it's not a big deal.

Does she truly know nothing, or is she deliberately playing with me?

Are you better now?

Why are your ears red?

Did they get burned, too?

No.

Nanny Li. Change the water.

Master, Madam. The water is ready.

Master, Madam. I saw this lantern has a unique design,

so I brought it over.

Why are you staring at me?

I think today,

the effort was not in vain, despite the rushed ending.

Of course, such an elaborate feast would not be in vain.

The pattern on this lantern

is quite unique.

Wife, did you remember something?

Wife?

I don't know, either.

It's just a slight headache.

Should I call Physician Zhao?

It's not a big deal.

What's the matter?

I suddenly remembered something.

What is it?

Husband.

Today, before all the people,

you forgot to properly address me as your wife.

Is that it?

Even if not in the presence of others, I want to hear it.

Wife.

Husband.

Are you feeling better?

I-If you don't touch it, it is fine.

Why do you keep looking at me?

I was thinking that you worked hard today, entertaining guests.

Not as hard as you, who planned everything behind the scenes.

Let's go.

Young Master doesn't know we came to Lingquan Town.

Not a word about today's events.

Understood.

Didn't we hear the name Cui Jiu used before?

Husband, the sun is rising.

Shouldn't we turn off the light and sleep?

There is no need to rush.

Does it still hurt?

No.

Zhao Quan is at least useful.

Thank you to Physician Zhao.

What about you?

Is your head still hurting?

No.

Did you remember anything after that?

Should I have remembered something?

Of course! It's related to what you saw today.

Isn't the banquet hosted to set-up the residence?

The set-up of the residence, must be done by the married couple.

In Zhenzhou, this banquet is also called "Sweet Night."

Do you remember now?

Actually, it's not important.

It is important.

But I'm not ready yet.

What do you need to prepare?

We are husband and wife.

You should trust me.

Wife,

whatever you're thinking right now is extremely important to me.

What are you doing?

I am removing my clothes.

No! No! Don't.

A-A-Actually,

I wanted to take it slow with you.

But...

when I heard Madam Yin today,

I realized this banquet also includes the tradition of consummation.

You worked hard to prepare the banquet for me.

I can't pretend to not know your intentions.

Moreover, today you stood up for me

and taught that scoundrel a lesson.

Actually, I didn't mean it that way.

No. You are right.

We are husband and wife. I should trust you.

Wife, I think you are right.

Let's take it slow.

- Really? - Yes.

I can wait. I am happy to wait.

Actually,

he… is sick.

What kind of sickness?

An unspeakable one.

This kind of sickness can happen to any man

and is a matter of secrecy.

It may hurt their pride, especially in front of their wife

so he can only avoid answering,

hiding his own…

weakness.

So what do you mean?

A gifted person cursed by fate.

Stop it. What are you doing? What are you doing?

Don't cover your nasty mouth!

What else could I do?

I couldn't let her investigate you.

Don't be angry.

Don't be so angry.

Rest assured. I didn't make any final statements.

I said that after careful treatment, you could still...

recover.

Liu Miantang, you are so capable.

You repeatedly cause me problems.

You're furious at her.

You truly appear unwell.

- What are you doing? - Let me check your pulse.

I can't say you are noble

by pretending to be her husband and taking advantage of her.

I can't say you're promiscuous,

yet you're burning with inner fire.

Why must you do that to yourself?

After all, Liu Miantang is also a pitiful person.

- Why are you at odds with her? - At odds with her?

I won't lower myself to her level.

Anyway, this will all end soon.

Last night, they didn't act

so they will definitely take action quickly.

Lu Wen might show up soon.

If we catch Lu Wen,

will you still get rid of Liu Miantang?

Of course.

What are you doing?

Moru.

I've prepared two more dishes for my husband.

- Take them to the Go Club. - Understood.

Make sure he eats on time, not just play Go.

Now that the weather is cooling,

he needs to take care of his health.

Yes.

By the way, about that scoundrel.

Go to the officials and inquire information.

The official was informed that Chen Tu was badly scalded,

so they allowed him to go home and rest.

He dared to openly harass a respectable lady.

Even if he's injured, it's his own fault.

How can the officials let him off?

Is it because he's the garrison's nephew?

Regarding this… Master is just an ordinary merchant.

He can't comment on official matters.

Well,

I'm not blaming him.

I'm blaming the Prince of Huaiyang.

He received the indictment but did not respond.

Now he allows his subordinates to bend the law.

He's neither upright nor loves the people. He's seeking fame.

What's wrong? Am I not right?

No, no. Madam, you're right.

Really?

Husband.

Officials have their own way of handling cases.

Besides, that person is indeed seriously injured.

Allowing him to be treated is understandable and reasonable.

Husband, don't worry.

No matter how serious his injury is, it's his own fault.

Even if Prince of Huaiyang wants to protect him,

he can't change the situation and gain advantage.

I've made some tonic dishes for you.

Moru.

Make sure you eat them.

Thank you, Wife.

Handmade trinkets. Come take a look.

Your Highness, shouldn't we tell the Prefect about Chen Tu?

Do you really think of her as my wife?

Go to the camp.

Yes.

I've made some tonic dishes for you.

Lady Liu.

Physician, why are you here?

I suddenly realized I didn't give you a gift for the banquet.

Physician, you are too kind.

[Retired Scholar Hates Brush]

Your Highness, the detained bandit from Mount Yang confessed.

This is indeed their secret code.

Tomorrow, one person, 05:00 p.m., at the dock.

Your Highness, Lady Liu left by carriage.

Your Highness, there is a fork here.

Your Highness, Lady Liu's carriage went that way.

Is she leaving Zhenzhou?

Your Highness, should we go to the dock, or follow Lady Liu?

- Follow her. - Go.

The code mentioned the dock,

but she came here.

She almost fooled us.

A sly person has more than one plan.

This woman is truly extraordinary.

She is here.

Lady Liu, I'm sorry to keep you waiting. We had to relieve ourselves halfway.

Marquis Zhao?

The coachman was forced to go.

It's okay. I just arrived.

Let's go inside.

- All right. - Let's go.

The environment here is quite nice.

It's nice, right?

People rarely come here. It's indeed hard to find.

Why is he smiling with Lady Liu?

Could it be…
