ALL CHARACTERS, EVENTS, LOCATIONS AND INCIDENTS ARE FICTITIOUS

REPORTER: Last night, in the underground parking lot

of an apartment in Seoul,

a police officer was attacked by an unknown duo

and was seriously injured.

And the one who saved the officer was none other than the Vigilante.

According to a witness,

towards the end of the attack,

the Vigilante suddenly appeared and helped the officer.

I was going home after work

when I heard a crash, and I thought there was a car accident.

But it turned out that two people were attacking another person.

It seemed like they were trying to kill each other. It was so scary.

The police has presumed

this incident was premeditated retaliation by a criminal organization,

and they are now trying to track down

-the duo and the Vigilante. -(CELL PHONE BUZZES)

GANGOK: Hey, Jiyong.

What happened?

This wasn't in our plans.

It was a part of the plan.

Helping Jo Heon?

I said he'll only get in our way.

No.

I will...

turn him into another Vigilante.

(SCOFFS)

That's my Jiyong.

VIGILANTE

I'm here to see Captain Jo Heon.

He's still unconscious, so you can't see him.

Chief Eom Jaehyub.

Could you tell Captain Jo for me

that I wish him a speedy recovery?

I mean it.

I'll see you again.

(HEART RATE MONITOR BEEPING)

Fortunately, the vital organs weren't harmed, so he'll live.

But we'll have to see how long it'll take to recover.

I see. Please take good care of him.

He's an old colleague of mine.

Yes, sir. We'll do our best.

So how's work as the university president?

Good. I'm doing my best.

And how's Jo Heon?

I think he'll be out of action for quite a while.

It's better to lie low in hectic times like these.

I'll bring you back once Kim's taken care of,

so don't be discouraged.

Thank you, sir.

I won't disappoint you again.

Have some sashimi. It's quite nice.

Yes, sir.

(SLURPING)

(CHUCKLES)

Mr. Bang, just what are you doing?

What did I pay you all that money for?

You should earn your keep.

(YELLS) How could you fucking fail to kill him?

Mr. Kim.

I'm in a pretty bad mood right now.

Do you want to die?

What was that, you bastard?

I'll do things my way now, so just keep yourself safe.

If you make me angrier, I'll go get you first.

-(LINE DISCONNECTS) -That son of a bitch.

(BREATHING HEAVILY)

MAN: Take everything. They're important.

So this has all the QQ Coin private keys?

You idiot! Do you know how much that's worth?

-Be careful with it. -I'm sorry, sir.

What in the world?

(MEN COUGHING)

What the hell?

Hey! (COUGHS) What the fuck is going on?

(GRUNTS)

Damn it!

MIRYEO: Hello, everyone. This is V News.

What I'm about to show you is an office in Gangnam

that caught on fire last night.

It may look like a mere case of a fire,

but the photos taken by a firefighter at the scene

tell us it is not.

"I'm taking the private keys.

"I'll sell the QQ Coin and donate the money.

"Before I donate it all,

"Kim Samdoo, Eom Jaehyub, and the hitmen should turn themselves in."

That's right.

The fire was not an accident, but the Vigilante's counterattack.

He mentioned Kim Samdoo,

Eom Jaehyub the Vole, and the hitmen in the same breath.

What could this mean?

The fire occurred in an office registered as a Sewool subsidiary,

and QQ Coin has appeared again.

Doesn't this explain it all?

But the police continue to put off the investigation,

because they claim a lack of evidence.

What could be the real reason?

V News will get to

the bottom of this case.

REPORTER: Next is some heartwarming news. REPORTER: Next is some heartwarming news.

Early this morning, a person in a hoodie left 200 million won in cash

in front of an orphanage in Seoul and vanished.

And it's the talk of the town.

We were having a difficult time,

so it'll be very helpful.

I'll put it to good use for the children.

Thank you so much.

REPORTER: The police conducted an intensive search and seizure

on Sewool Future Resources this morning.

Chairman Kim Samdoo is not responding to the summons,

saying the police will have to arrest him to investigate him.

Also, the police plan to focus on investigating

the Vigilante, the hitmen who attacked an officer,

and the relationship between Choi Miryeo and the Vigilante.

This has been a social affairs news update.

(TV TURNS OFF)

-Eat some more meat. -BOY: Okay.

(DOORBELL CHIMING)

Who could it be at this hour?

It's all right. I'll get the door.

How are you, sir?

Son of a... How could you show up here?

What if someone sees us?

Well, Mr. Eom...

I mean Chief,

you keep trying to cut me loose with all the blame,

so I came to see

how you were doing.

So the kids haven't gone to school yet, right?

Let's go in.

I should say hello to your wife.

(CLANGS)

Let's talk here.

Sir.

I know who's behind you,

and whose political funds the QQ Coin is going to be used for.

I know everything.

Okay?

If I'm about to I go down,

don't you think I should find ways to survive?

Please make sure that doesn't happen to me.

I doubt your plan will go smoothly without me. Right?

(SCOFFS)

Are you threatening me?

(LAUGHS)

I'm asking you nicely.

Shut it.

Just serve six months.

I'll just have them conclude

that we found some illegal business activities.

If you say anything about me,

you'll only get a longer prison term.

Is this the best you can do?

You failed to take care of them and made it come to this.

What can I do when my name keeps being mentioned, too?

Stop the Vigilante from continuing to go after us.

Then, I'll get you out as soon as I can.

(DOOR CLOSES)

No. Get back in.

You fucking bastard.

-Hey. -(YELPS)

-What the hell is with you? -(COUGHS)

Hey, Hong.

You son of a bitch. Are you a fucking moron?

Do your job right, you motherfucker!

-God fucking damn it. -(GRUNTS)

(PANTING)

I'm sorry, sir.

(EXHALES)

Whether it's Bang or Eom, don't fucking trust anyone.

We'll move on our own.

Yes, sir.

Whether you torture Choi Miryeo or rip her to pieces, I don't fucking care.

Find out where the Vigilante is.

At all cost.

They're definitely connected.

I'm sure of it.

(INDISTINCT RADIO CHATTER)

CAPTAIN: After Jo Heon was replaced,

he was attacked by hitmen and the Vigilante came to help him.

And it was in the parking lot of Choi Miryeo's office.

Exactly.

There seems to be something between the three.

Request a search warrant for Choi's office.

Yes, sir.

Sir, what should we do about Chief Eom Jaehyub?

I'LL SELL THE QQ COIN AND DONATE THE MONEY

KIM, EOM, AND THE HITMEN SHOULD TURN THEMSELVES IN

Put it on hold.

Understood, sir.

Dear Lord,

please grant eternal rest to all those who have passed.

Let bright light shine upon them,

and let them feel true joy.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

(GASPS, GROANS)

Guys, big news.

-What is it this time? -It's really big news.

I heard President Eom Jaehyub could get fired soon.

What?

So he's really involved with Sewool?

Think about it.

He was on a roll climbing the ladder among the elites,

but ended up as the university president.

I'm pretty sure something happened.

You're right. This is why people should live by the book.

And honestly.

(CHUCKLES)

REPORTER: This is a shocking case.

-Many Vigilante copycats have appeared... -What?

But they've never killed an innocent person before.

On top of that, the victim was the director of Haneul Orphanage

who had been helping those in need all her life.

Our reporter Park has more.

PARK: There was a murder at Haneul Orphanage in Seoul last night.

Recently, the orphanage drew a lot of attention

after receiving a large sum from an anonymous donor.

The police believe a criminal organization committed this murder

due to a grudge against the recent center of conversation, the Vigilante,

and they have launched an investigation.

Reporting from the scene, I'm Park Seoha.

Keep an eye on Choi Miryeo.

-I'm sure they'll come for her again. -I got it.

Choi Miryeo's office is being attacked.

-Is it live? -Sir!

Sir, Choi Miryeo is being attacked right now.

God damn it.

Destroy all the cameras.

(POLICE SIREN WAILING)

Ms. Choi.

How many times do I have to tell you?

I've been regularly threatened,

so I just set up cameras here and there.

And some guy who saw the live broadcast

came and saved me. That's all.

Ms. Choi.

Do you think that kind of coincidence

is possible?

Yes.

That's why it's a coincidence.

And you didn't plan this with the Vigilante to lure the thugs?

You think that was the Vigilante?

The guy using a bat was the Vigilante?

I'm sorry,

but the Vigilante never uses a weapon.

(SIGHS)

I will catch the Vigilante soon.

And once I do...

I'll give you a chance to see who he is.

(DOOR LOCK BEEPING)

(DOOR CLOSES)

We'll conduct today's discussion with these three reasons.

First,

-as time goes by, crimes-- -(DOOR OPENS)

I'm sorry to interrupt, sir. But it's urgent.

Kim Jiyong.

Come out.

-Jiyong. -Yes, sir?

You know V News was attacked, right?

Yes, I do.

Where were you and what were you doing at that time?

Tell me everything you did after the terminal.

It's my private life.

Do you think I'm asking because of your private life?

I'm sorry,

but on what grounds am I a suspect?

You met with the former team leader.

Your physique is similar to the Vigilante's.

And the phone used during the crimes was once turned on here at school.

We've looked through everything already, so be honest.

JUNYEOP: Captain Nam.

This is a school. You know what that means, right?

Until he's proven guilty, I'd like you not to treat my student that way.

I'm doing my best to be considerate.

I'm even questioning him in your presence.

Kim Jiyong.

This is your last chance.

You won't talk?

I've done nothing wrong.

Honestly, sir.

(SCOFFS)

Do you really think he's the Vigilante?

To sell cryptocurrency, you have to use a phone with a wallet.

And guess where it was turned on.

It was 100-50, Gwangsan-gil, Sinnam-myeon, Asan, South Chungcheong Province.

Korean National Police University.

Someone turned it on by mistake and turned it off.

The forensics report will tell us

who the Vigilante really is.

But wouldn't it be too much for him to handle by himself?

What if Jo Heon's in on it?

Then, it all makes sense.

Is Jo Heon still unconscious?

Yes, he hasn't woken up yet.

Let's go.

Hey.

Jiyong is going to be okay, right?

You know him. He'll brush it off and be okay.

(SIGHS)

No visitors, sir.

Nam Yeongil, team leader of the RIU.

(HEART RATE MONITOR BEEPING)

What on Earth...

have you done?

(SIGHS)

I will carry out my duty.

I ask for your understanding

to let a fellow police officer fix

another officer's mistake.

(DOOR CLOSES)

(BEEPING INCREASES)

Two!

Three!

Four!

One, two, three, four.

One, two, three, four!

One!

Guys.

It's set. We're getting an afternoon off for the first time in a while.

So we'll hit some balls together. Understood?

You have to come.

I have to help the professor finish his app.

I'll go next time.

When will you ever do as I say?

Jiyong. You'll come, right?

I have to catch up on papers I have to write.

Jiyong, wait. Hey.

You did a good job of saving Choi Miryeo.

We really need her.

That was a cakewalk for me.

But why do we need her so much?

The climax at the end...

No one's better than her at reporting things raw.

(CHUCKLES) Right, that nutjob...

So tell me. What's our next plan?

(CELL PHONE VIBRATING)

Hey.

SEONWOOK: Jiyong, this is bad.

Captain Nam returned and he's taking all of the professor's computers.

And they went to search the men's dorm.

Will you be okay?

Yeah, I'll be okay.

Stay with the professor and help him.

Call me if anything else happens.

Okay, I will.

Sir.

The forensics report of the location is out.

Where is it?

PRESIDENT'S OFFICE

We're going to search here?

-Sir, shouldn't we first check... -(THUDS)

Who was it?

A friend.

The police are searching my school.

I turned on a phone with QQ Coin and left a trace.

I made it look like Eom Jaehyub used cryptocurrency.

And guess what I found in there?

What did you find?

A burner phone he used to contact Kim Samdoo.

I'm sure they've found the evidence by now.

What do you think you're doing?

Sir.

Mr. Eom.

Is this phone yours?

What are you doing?

If not, I'll hand it over to the Digital Forensics Center.

Give us a minute.

Yes, sir.

What is it that you want?

The real truth behind this case.

If there's anything you need to confess, I'll give you some time.

I'll wait until I arrive at the DFC with this.

I'll give you until then.

Sir.

I found this in the bookshelf.

I'll head back first.

You wrap things up here first.

Yes, sir.

It's me.

There's someone I need you to persuade urgently.

Yes.

It's Nam Yeongil, team leader of the RIU.

He's leaving National Police University now.

Yes.

Thank you.

I trust you.

(TIRES SCREECH)

(GRUNTING)

(KNOCK ON DOOR)

(GRUNTS)

Sir, we just got a call.

Captain Nam Yeongil died in an accident.

(GRUNTS)

Hey, how did it go? Is the search over?

SEONWOOK: Captain Nam died in an accident.

Are you sure?

Yeah.

The search team is leaving in a hurry.

(SIGHS)

(KNIFE CLANKING)

Should I stoke the fire?

Yeah, make it nice and hot.

(SCOFFS)

It wasn't my doing.

All I did...

was lead Captain Nam to find proper evidence.

So if the law punishes them...

(GROANS)

I told you to stop.

(BREATH TREMBLING)

Mr. Jo.

Captain Nam died, because he was a good cop!

Am I wrong?

I've made up my mind

to kill them all.

They will kill you mercilessly!

No one will care...

if you die.

And they'll never know.

I don't care.

Whether the Vigilante succeeds or fails,

there's at least one person who will report on it.

And even if no one finds out, at least you will know!

To prove himself...

a man beat his head against a wall and tried.

If you still want to stop me...

kill me now.

I won't avoid it.

But if not...

what you told me about...

That justice.

Now, you must show me.

(SIGHS)
