[Deep Lurk]

[Episode 15]

As soon as the news about Qu Wenzhi's defection

was published on the newspaper,

Rat recognized him immediately.

He had seen with his own eyes

that Qu Wenzhi had stayed the night at Li Miaohan's house.

That's right.

She really has no sense of self-respect.

You may know her face but not her mind.

That's why there are so many people

falling for Li Miaohan.

Go check on Huang for me.

He's been implicated because of me this time.

If the NBIS wasn't trying to pressure me,

they wouldn't have dug up his past.

Remind him as well.

Tell him to tone it down..

Some money

is not worth dying for.

Alright,

I'll go right away.

I'll take an apple.

In other words,

this truck, after delivering supplies to

the training base,

collided with Jin Guoqiang's car on its way back to the city.

Yes.

All relevant witnesses have been questioned.

The time and details all match up.

The people who deliver supplies to the base

should be the same ones regularly, right?

This business was contracted to a

trading company called Shunde.

I heard this company has strong connections.

They've been doing business with the military.

Do you believe

that this fake car accident

must be related to this company?

[Operation Team Leader's Office]

This is quite interesting.

In the past, our leader and Li Liang

couldn't stand each other.

Let alone discussing cases together,

they rarely even spoke to each other.

Look,

this newly arrived leader Mr. Yun

is really charismatic.

As soon as he arrived,

our leader made an exception.

All of you, stop gossiping.

It's good that the two team leaders can

work together.

Let me tell you something,

I saw it with my own eyes.

Ms. Wen

came in Mr. Yun's car this morning.

You know what?

They actually look quite good together.

Keep it down.

Don't let them hear us.

Hello?

Deputy Chief.

Okay.

Meeting in the conference room in five minutes.

Alright, I'll be right there.

Okay.

Let's go, let's go.

Stop right there!

Since you like eavesdropping so much,

just stand here and listen.

Only when you develop a keen hearing

can you go back.

So, you all have such good eyesight.

Keep it up.

Don't waste such a good talent.

100 push-ups each tonight.

Make sure you finish them all.

Yes.

It was all you.

-You gossiper. -You started it.

-Now you're blaming me? -It's none of my business.

On today's meeting,

I'd like to discuss

our future work plans.

Deputy Chief Zhu.

Yes.

Our next important task is the cipher key.

Yun Hongshen,

please hand over the codebook in a moment.

Deputy Chief,

I can't hand over the codebook.

Reason?

I forgot where I put it.

Didn't you memorize it all?

You can write it down from memory.

I went to sleep last night,

and when I woke up, I had forgotten everything.

What kind of attitude is that?

Zhu.

Wen Yeming, put him in solitary confinement.

Yes.

That's the situation in detail.

I'm planning to have someone investigate Shunde Company.

Sir.

Last night at the training base,

an unknown radio signal appeared.

Could it be from our own radio station

or some commercial station?

After the Shunde Company's truck delivered supplies,

it ran over and killed Jin Guoqiang.

The night Li Liang was killed,

an unknown radio signal appeared at the training base.

Although these two incidents seem unrelated,

they have a common point of intersection.

The training base?

That's right.

If my speculation is correct,

the training base is no longer safe.

The training base trains

elite talents.

If the enemy did infiltrate,

the consequences would be terrible.

Sir,

I suggest we screen all current personnel

at the base.

I'm assigning this task to you.

Yes, sir.

It seems the Japanese have

established a vast spy network in Changsha.

The assassin who appeared at Boya Tea House,

the person who killed Myna,

Li Liang,

and the unidentified radio waves from the base,

they seem unrelated,

but they should all be from the same spy network.

Moreover, they are currently very active.

Their target should be

the codebook in Yun Hongshen's hand.

You've detained Yun Hongshen

to protect the codebook?

I detained him

because of the task I just assigned you.

I understand.

You want to create a natural opportunity

for Yun Hongshen and me to infiltrate the base

and find the person hiding in the base.

That's right.

You should know

that among everyone at the station,

you're the only one I trust.

Even if you don't want to hand over the codebook,

you shouldn't publicly confront the Deputy Chief.

After all, he is our direct superior

and the Deputy Chief.

Why?

What else can I do?

I can't just tell the truth

in front of everyone.

I guess I was right.

The Chief doesn't believe either

that Li Liang is the only mole, right?

You publicly confronted the Deputy Chief,

showing no respect for your superior.

It's had a very bad influence.

The Chief wants you to go to the training base

to receive a short-term training

and learn how to respect your superiors

and follow orders.

Then may I ask, what is my real mission?

There are also Japanese spies hiding in the base.

Find him.

You

just take good care of yourself.

Don't worry about me.

Your brother

is here looking after me.

I won't keep you any longer.

Go on with your work.

Bye.

Hello?

Hung up.

He can't even tell us where

he's going to study

and how long he'll be gone.

What kind of job is this?

Grandma,

you don't need to worry about him.

He chose to go himself.

No one forced him.

No, Grandma.

What I actually meant was...

Shen has grown up now.

He knows what he's doing.

You don't need to worry about him.

Is this why you're mad at him?

Mad at him?

How would I dare to be mad at him?

He's so determined.

He told me his mind was made up.

I don't care about him.

No, Grandma.

Actually...

I don't have any issues with his job.

It's just the NBIS.

The NBIS's way of doing things

is really unspeakable.

What's the point of saying it now?

He's already joined.

Hongqi,

you're getting more and more responsible as an older brother.

Since your father passed away,

I know

you feel responsible

for everyone in the family.

Grandma.

I'm fine.

Your brother has grown up.

You should trust him.

He knows what he's doing.

[Japanese spy Li Fang]

Come in.

Chief Ji, are you busy?

No.

What's the matter?

Please take a look at this.

Is the blood on this from the driver, Qian Dahai?

It is indeed Qian Dahai's blood.

Director Ling has already asked me to examine it.

Judging from the depth of the wound and the degree of healing,

this should be a cut he received shortly before his death.

Cut shortly before death?

Alright.

Thank you.

Hello, Uncle Yang.

It's me,

Hongqi.

Yes.

I'm going out to take care of something later

and will be passing by your place.

Are you free for lunch?

I'd like to treat you to lunch.

Alright.

See you at noon.

It seems he

is coming to confront me.

Hongsheng joined the NBIS,

and he's extremely unhappy about it.

This Yun Hongqi

is quite the social butterfly.

He has friends from all walks of life,

petty thieves,

idlers,

even murderers and arsonists.

He can chat happily with all of them,

but he just hates the NBIS so much.

Hongqi makes friends

with his own principles.

He can accept that people make mistakes

or even have some bad habits,

but fundamentally,

the person can't be truly evil.

Some of the NBIS's methods

have crossed his moral line.

Oh, right,

tell Nighthawk

to keep a close eye on

Hongqi's friend at the police station.

In this hard times,

we must not cause any trouble.

Otherwise, the Japanese will take advantage of it

and lead to serious problems.

Yes.

[Xiaoxiang Restaurant]

I'll pay.

Don't bother today. It's my treat.

Alright, up to you.

Dao.

Let's go upstairs.

Coming for dinner?

Cheers.

You know,

I just sold some gossip about some officer's concubine

having an affair to reporters at most

to make a little money.

I mean,

how could I have the guts

to sell military secrets?

Now look what's happened.

The NBIS is watching me,

and the police station has suspended me for self-reflection.

Dao,

I'm not afraid of you laughing at me,

but if there's no money

coming in my pocket for one day,

I feel uneasy.

Such bad luck.

It's an unlucky year.

Huang,

here.

-What's... -Just take it.

Don't be discouraged.

If you have any difficulties,

any problems, just tell me.

Would our Young Master let you down?

What did I say?

Our Young Master

is famous in Changsha for being generous.

Changsha's Little Mengchang,

generous and magnanimous.

I've made up my mind to work for the Young Master.

Dao,

please pass on a message for me.

About Li Miaohan's matter,

I'll continue to investigate for him.

Thank you for that.

Come on, cheers.

We're family, aren't we?

Cheers.

Why haven't we set off yet?

There's one more person to wait for.

Who's it?

Why are you going?

Mid-level and above officers at the station

are required to regularly teach new trainees at the base.

It's my turn this time.

Well, I'd like to ask,

what are you going to teach?

Combat.

Close-quarters killing.

Let's go.

Uncle Yang,

I know there are some things I shouldn't ask about.

Since you know you shouldn't ask,

then don't.

Uncle Yang,

I see.

There's an organization behind you.

Your organization is better than the NBIS.

Otherwise, you and my father

couldn't have both joined this organization.

Uncle Yang,

please find a way

to get Shen to join your organization too.

Will you?

I want him to follow the right path.

He has joined the NBIS now.

How do you know

the organization behind us isn't the NBIS?

That's impossible.

How can you be sure

that Shen isn't on the right path?

Qi,

if you trust Hongshen,

don't ask about it anymore in the future.

You grew up by your grandma's side.

How come you haven't learned

any of her calmness and grace?

Grandma knows about it too?

Madam Yun

is a woman of great wisdom.

So...

So

I'm the only one who couldn't understand it.

Qi,

you're letting your emotions cloud your judgment.

You know?

Doing things

is sometimes like playing chess.

To fight our way out of

a perilous situation,

we have to detour,

to abandon things,

and disguise ourselves.

These are necessary sacrifices.

As long as we can win in the end,

these sacrifices are all worthwhile.

I understand, Uncle Yang.

Can I make a sacrifice too?

Please don't try to dissuade me anymore.

Letting Shen take risks alone,

and leaving me doing nothing.

Besides, there are some things

I can actually help with.

If Shen asks

for your help in the future,

you can assist him.

I see, Uncle Yang.

Regarding Li Miaohan's matter,

I've found out some information,

but it's not enough yet.

I will continue investigating.

[Linli Training Base]

Keep up, keep up!

Hurry up!

Hurry, run faster!

Pick up the pace!

Hurry up!

Haven't you eaten?

Put more effort into it!

The enemies you face are equally dangerous

and insane!

You must harbor immense hatred in your hearts

and make every move a lethal one!

Only then will you have a chance to complete the mission alive!

You have no right to complain,

nor do you have the right to whine.

Because

this is your fate from now on!

There's another newcomer.

Let's welcome him and

let him remember this day forever!

[Military Hospital]

Jingyu.

Look here.

This spot is called the Rangu acupoint.

It's located below this bone,

about one centimeter down.

There's a small depression.

Then,

you just need to press gently each time.

Don't press too hard.

This acupoint

can help Grandma regulate her sleep.

Grandma, how does it feel?

Grandma.

Have some orange.

Don't press too hard.

Okay.

These ribs are quite tasty.

Would you like to try some?

Whose idea is this?

It's immoral.

The chief instructor of the base,

Zhang Hua.

Wearing sunglasses this late at night.

His eyes were injured

and can't tolerate bright light.

Otherwise,

he wouldn't be cooped up in here.

Let's wait until they fall asleep tonight

and come out to do some reconnaissance.

How do you want to do it?

That person sent a telegram yesterday,

and today you're here.

He's definitely going to be extra sensitive

to your every move.

It's been a while since I've been here anyway.

Let's go out for a walk tonight.

Hurry up!

Why are you here?

Weren't you supposed to be outside backing me up?

Come here.

Speak.

After I fired that shot just now,

someone started chasing me.

So I had no choice but to run.

As I was running,

I ended up running into you.

Wen Yeming,

don't move.

Someone's coming.

[Yun Residence]

Mi Lan,

I brought you some sweet soup.

What happened to your hand?

I accidentally hit it when I was

looking for a book earlier.

Let me see.

You're too careless.

Follow me.

Look at you,

even hurt yourself looking for a book.

I think

you need someone to take care of your daily life.

It's not too bad.

The bruised area isn't large.

I'll apply some bruise liniment for you first.

Take some with you

and apply some more before going to bed.

The swelling should go down by tomorrow.

This doesn't even count as an injury.

There's no need to make a fuss about it.

I know you're a nurse

and you can take care of yourself.

But even a small injury is still an injury.

It can still hurt.

Isn't it?

Go!

Hurry!

How could it be him?

Why couldn't it be him?

You may know a person's face, but not their heart.

Looks like they want to capture us alive.

Remember what I said.

Teng Ping.

Yes.

Report the time.

Report.

Nine minutes and 48 seconds.

Did you hear that?

Yes.

I didn't hear it.

Yes!

Nine minutes and 48 seconds!

Everyone, remember this number.

Your instructor Ms. Wen

and this annoying Yun Hongshen

took only nine minutes and 48 seconds from

leaving the dormitory to shaking off pursuit.

During this time,

all of you

gave it your all,

trying to corner them,

but ended up embarrassing yourselves.

I feel ashamed for you!

I don't want any of you

barely escape with your lives

and tell me

that it's not because of your lack of ability,

but because when you were carrying out the mission,

you were just a bit short on luck.

Now, let me tell you this:

the comrades fighting alongside you

are your luck!

Yes, sir!

Dismissed!

That man is smarter than we thought.

He wanted to use the class to get rid of me.

My death could lead to two possible outcomes.

First,

this man would temporarily block the news

and take advantage of the time

to find

a breakthrough to locate the codebook from you.

Second,

the news hadn't been contained

and the Chief would call you back immediately.

At this moment,

the real mole in the station

could start to move.

In any case,

his ultimate goal is to find the codebook.

Looks like these Japanese spies

are quite skilled.

But I will definitely root them out.

It's we,

we will definitely root them out.

Looks like your lesson was worth it.

I've said it before,

it's not that I don't trust you.

I just don't trust anyone.

We can't always let them teach us lessons.

We need to teach them a lesson too.

How about this?

You go back first

and report the latest situation here to the Chief.

I'll stay here and have a good time with them.

No way.

I'd rather die on the battlefield

than run away.

I'll send a message to the Chief later

and tell him I've got a target.

We can do it tomorrow night.

That person will make another move.

Wen Yeming.

You're really tough.

You really made yourself a target?

I need to send a telegram to the Chief.

Alright.

[Target confirmed. We'll do it tomorrow night]

Why are you running away from me?

I won't eat you.

Oh, it's you.

I just lost something,

so I came to check.

As soon as I got here, I remembered

I didn't lose it.

Such a fool I am.

I thought you had done

something shady

and felt guilty when you saw me.

What shady things could I possibly do?

You

really are a born spy.

Everything that comes to you,

you have to think twice.

Can't help it.

Occupational habit.

I'll be going then.

See you tomorrow.

Li Liang isn't even on his list of suspects.

Yes.

Yun Hongshen actually suspected someone else.

It's just that Yun Hongqi came in at that moment,

so I didn't get to see

who Yun Hongshen's real suspect is.

Yes.

I'll use Li Miaohan as a lead

to make Yun Hongshen notice that person.

Yes.

Understood.

Alright.

The first time I saw you,

you were covered in blood

in the ruins of the classroom.

But when you took off your mask,

I saw the purest,

most beautiful face in this world.

Kudo Hishiko,

snap out of it.

You're the country's best agent.

Captain,

don't worry.

I can finish

the work in a day.

I guarantee you'll be satisfied.

There's no rush.

Take your time.

Just make sure you finish it during the suspension

and reflection period.

Captain,

please wait.

Captain,

I have something to tell you.

I need to help a friend with a favor,

and I must do this.

I swear on my parents' names.

I absolutely won't do anything bad this time.

Captain,

this friend has helped me a lot.

It's rare for him to ask.

If I don't handle this properly,

how can I face him in the future?

This friend of yours

is the Young Master of the Yun family, isn't it?

I knew I couldn't hide it from you.

Alright.

So, what's the matter?

Tell me.

Hey, listen,

would I ever harm you?

This is

not for you.

It's for the Old Madam of the Yun family.

As long as it's not out of line,

I'll have to help with it.

But let me be clear upfront.

You absolutely cannot do this alone.

If anything goes wrong,

it won't be as simple as suspension and self-reflection.

About this matter...

Alright.

Leave this to me.

Yes, sir.

I'm leaving now.

Tang.

What's up?

What's the matter?

I'm fine.

Just make sure you're okay.

What could possibly happen to me?

I'm leaving.

Take care, Captain.

Mrs. Tang,

shall we begin?

What's the rush?

Chop the firewood for me.

Mrs. Tang, you—

Isn't this too much?

[Bureau of Investigation and Statistics]

Chief,

that's roughly the content.

Keep a close eye on those who

know the content of this telegram.

We must ensure one thing:

absolute confidentiality.

Yes.

[Target is locked. Take care]

[Linli Training Base]

What's good to eat today?

We have fish and meat,

and some desserts too.

Not bad.

I knew it.

The weather is so nice today.

It would be a pity not to eat something good.

-Let's go. -Yeah.

Sir.

[Danger]

Move it, everyone!

Hurry back to the training ground when you're done!

Yes!

Second Young Master Yun, I heard your kung fu is quite good.

I'd like to learn from you.

Certainly.

Since this is just a friendly match,

let's keep it light.

Don't go overboard.

Watch out!

Instructor Teng, what's wrong?

Instructor Teng! Instructor Teng! Instructor Teng!

Move.

What happened?

Potassium cyanide.

This dagger is poisoned.

Let me see it.

The poisoner intended to use Teng Ping's hand

to kill Yun Hongshen.

This dagger is the evidence.

You can't touch it.

In this base,

all the people and things,

there's nothing I can't touch.

Hand it over!

What if I don't?

Officer Wen,

I think this matter

would be better handled by Instructor Zhang.

Instructor Zhang.

Speak.

You better be careful.

In case you contact the potassium cyanide on the dagger,

the consequence would be bad.

Don't forget,

I taught you poisonology.

All of you stay here and keep watch.

Don't disturb the crime scene.

I'll go notify the Chief.

Ms. Wen,

you're not trying to be partial to Yun Hongshen, are you?

That's not acceptable.

Instructor Teng's death would be in vain.

A life for a life.

Who knows if there was

potassium cyanide on that dagger?

It could very well be Yun Hongshen

who tampered with it while fighting

with Instructor Teng.

Exactly!

The training base

is Zhang Hua and Teng Ping's territory after all.

There might be other accomplices.

Before people from the station arrive,

we must keep the trainees' emotions under control.

If a conflict breaks out,

it will be difficult to resolve the situation.

You two, come with me.

After I make the call,

you'll report the details to the Chief.

It's too hot.

It's not appropriate to leave Instructor Teng here.

Put him somewhere else,

and gather in one place to wait for the results.

The weather is scorching.

Everyone, find a shady place

to get Instructor Teng settled.

As for the rest,

we'll discuss it later.

Dismissed.

Classroom 1.

Help out.

Instructor Zhang.

What are you doing?

Why are you in Teng Ping's room?

What good stuff did you put in there?

When I was in the business,

you couldn't even read.

What are you trying to prove?

Get out.

Don't interfere with my work.

Instructor Zhang,

you haven't answered my question.

Who do you think you are?

How dare you question me?

Considering Teng Ping helped you kill Jin Guoqiang,

you shouldn't treat him like this.

I need you to send reinforcements immediately.

Rest assured,

I will definitely hold on until the end.

What?

Want to kill me?

Teng Ping died at your hand for no reason.

I have to give him an explanation.

It's true that Teng Ping died at my hand.

However,

don't you want to know

who the real culprit behind Instructor Teng's death is?

If you do,

just cooperate.

The potassium cyanide on his dagger

was applied by you, wasn't it?

That's just your speculation.
