=Lady Revenger Returns From the Fire=

=Episode 21=

You wanted me to keep an eye on Prince Yi.

I've recently learned that Prince Yi's confidant has died.

It seems to be related to Xu Chengfeng, Shen Danqing, and a few others.

Really? What happened exactly?

I'm not clear about the details.

I only know that Prince Yi was devastated by this incident.

This might be a good opportunity for us.

Have you decided what to do next?

We must plan carefully.

By the way, have you found Luo Shuangshuang?

No yet.

Not yet?

- Try to find her as soon as possible. - Okay.

- Is it her? - Let's go.

- Where is she? - Didn't you just see her? Where is she?

I did see a woman similar to the one in the portrait you gave me.

But she was gone.

Then keep searching.

Inform me if you find anything.

- Okay. - Go!

- You two, go over there. - Let's go.

No!

Don't kill me!

No!

Don't kill me!

Why would I kill you?

You've destroyed my family.

And now you've kidnapped me.

Isn't it to completely get rid of me?

Let's make it clear.

It was your family who framed me first.

But this time, I've come to save you.

I heard you were targeted by a group of beggars today.

Had I not sent someone to rescue you,

you'd probably be in great danger.

Think about it.

Ever since Xue'er took charge, you've been confined

at the suburban estate.

You can't even see your own mother.

Up to this point,

are you still kept in the dark by her?

Haven't you been used by her enough?

Even so, why do you want to save me?

It's because I promised Ms. Zhou.

What?

My mother asked you?

But why would she do that?

What on earth is going on?

(- Xue'er, it's me.) - Ying'er?

I've found something important.

Xue'er, you guessed right.

Shen Danqing's tasting wine action

is exactly like what you told me before.

It's like this.

Then there's no mistake. That's Luo Ailian's unique wine-tasting habit.

Then we can confirm that she is actually Luo Ailian.

A single action is not enough for a complete confirmation.

What should we do?

Ask Shen Danqing to meet you at the theater tomorrow.

The theater?

Yes.

(Zuiyun Tower)

(Ying'er,)

why go to the expense of inviting us to see the variety show today?

You were busy recently.

And I've heard the variety show here is particularly good.

- That's why I invited you here today. - Okay.

Dear guests,

the variety show you requested will start soon.

Please enjoy.

The performance has begun.

Danqing, are you alright?

No.

Bin, hold my hand.

Bin!

Bin!

Bin!

- No! - Danqing?

- Bin! - What's wrong?

Stop! Are you okay? Let's go home.

Danqing?

- Step down! - Yes.

(She actually just called out 'Bin'.)

(It really is you, Luo Ailian.)

(I never thought I'd see you again in this life.)

(I will now return the suffering you caused me to you.)

General, bad news!

- Miss Shen is sick! - What?

Shuixian told me during my delivery.

She seems to be very sick.

She was frightened, fainted,

and got sick.

- No. - What happened?

How could she suddenly become ill?

It's nothing. She was startled when we saw the fire-breathing show

in the theater.

maybe she remembered her past experience of being burned by fire.

A fire-breathing show?

Since you're here,

take good care of her.

Why not go to the authorities?

She's a murderer!

Things are clear now.

The Shen family's physician is very talented.

Maybe she coaxed Zishan with her sweet words

and had Mr. Miao change her face

while Danqing was gone to impersonate her.

Perhaps Danqing was also killed by her.

Ying'er, calm down for now.

I don't care. I'm reporting to the authorities.

I'm telling Mr. Du.

Don't do that!

Why?

You said my guess could be wrong when I wanted

to go to the authorities.

But now we have confirmed it.

Why do you still disagree?

Xue'er, don't you dare to report to the authorities?

Ying'er, just think about it.

Luo Ailian killed Ruoshan and my father

simply because they went

against her wishes.

Now we know a huge secret.

If we can't finish her in one blow,

we would instead alert her,

putting ourselves in danger.

So we'll just let her do more harm?

We have no solid evidence.

We must plan carefully.

Besides, General Xu is protecting her now.

Even if we accuse her,

we may lose the case.

I guess you're right.

Then what should we do next?

Ying'er, you should go back

and keep pretending with Shen Danqing.

And I will continue to look for evidence.

Also, you must keep this matter

from even your closest maid.

The fewer people know about it, the safer it is.

(Ailian,)

(you can't beat me.)

(I will make sure you suffer)

(as you did last time.)

(Shen Mansion)

Miss,

you were quite indisposed from the extreme fright.

And now you've caught a chill.

Mr. Miao has urged you to rest well.

Perhaps you shouldn't visit the winery today.

I'm keeping an eye on the winery.

I'm fine.

Then I'll make you some sugar pear water to take with you.

Where is Ying'er?

She was also there that day. Was she frightened?

Rest assured.

Miss Ying'er is fine.

Miss, we've found the old servant of the Xiaos.

He's waiting for you.

What that old man said is detailed and substantiated.

It matches the Xiaos' account book found by Mr. Luo

and the pawn tickets.

He is certainly the old servant of the Xiao family.

Mr. Qin,

please send someone to prepare some daily necessities

and take care of him.

Yes, Miss Shen.

It's enough to prove

that Master Xiao squandered the Xiao family's fortune by himself.

Your family are innocent.

It's more than that.

My father was actually the benefactor of Ms. Zhou and her daughter.

Luo Xue'er is indefensible this time.

I will make her admit to authorities

that she is an ungrateful criminal

to clear Luo Ailian's name.

And then...

Shouldn't you recover from your illness first?

Or how will you have the strength to take revenge on her?

Alright, I'll listen to you.

(Justice will be done.)

(The day is finally approaching when everything will become clear.)

Why did you suddenly ask to meet me?

Last time, you said Shen Danqing was seriously ill.

How is she now?

She's not recovered.

Xue'er,

I really can't keep acting.

When can we strike with certainty?

You said you're looking for evidence.

Any progress?

That's exactly why I called you here.

I wanted to find Shuangshuang to testify

to confirm Ailian's identity.

But I haven't found her.

Then won't this just drag on and on?

I can't stay in Liao City forever.

We must bring the murderer

to justice before I leave.

My thoughts are the same as yours.

I've been thinking for days.

In fact, there's a way to force her to confess.

But the method is somewhat risky.

What method?

Tell me about it.

What is this?

This powder will put the one who takes it in severe abdominal pain.

It can cause a lot of pain

but is not lethal.

Put it into the medicine she is currently taking

so they won't know.

Are you saying this thing is harmful

but not lethal?

Won't there be any problems by putting it

in her current medicine?

Rest assured. There will be no problems.

We're just using it to force her to confess.

You and I both know she is Luo Ailian.

But we have no solid evidence.

If you can make her take this powder,

she'll suffer great pain

and will certainly confess.

Ying'er, don't worry.

No one else will know.

Besides, someone needs to avenge Ruoshan.

Don't hesitate.

It's a good opportunity.

Being ill and not resting properly.

Here. Drink the medicine first.

Why are you bringing the medicine?

Where's Shuixian?

I sent Shuixian and Tieli to buy some things for me.

You should get better soon.

So I will personally ensure that you take your medicine today.

It's too hot.

Let it cool.

I'll take it later.

If the it cools down, its efficacy will diminish.

Better to drink it while it's hot.

Okay, I'll do as you say.

This medicine must be very bitter.

Ying'er, could you find some candied fruit for me?

- Okay, I'll go get them right now. - Okay.

The medicine is too bitter.

Quick. Let me have some.

It's so sweet.

Miss Ying'er sent me to tell you that the matter has been taken care of.

That's great.

Why didn't Ying'er come herself?

Miss Shen's condition worsened.

Miss Ying'er is currently indisposed.

So she sent me to tell you.

Later, after she soothes Miss Shen,

she'll take care of the winery affairs on behalf of Miss Shen.

You can meet there tonight.

How is Miss Shen's condition?

She wakes on and off,

with short breath.

It's much more serious than expected.

I guess she is dying.

The whole Shen Mansion is now in chaos.

Even Miss Ying'er herself is quite frightened.

I see. Then is it safe for Ying'er to slip away at such a time to meet me

at the winery?

Miss Ying'er said

that the winery is empty now,

discussing the next steps with you there is the best choice.

And it's also the least conspicuous way

she can think of now.

I see. You may go back now.

(Danqing Winery)

Ying'er? Ying'er?

Ying'er, I'm here.

Xue'er,

you're here.

A-Aren't you...

What? Are you disappointed

to see me well?

Did Du Ying'er tell you?

No. That's impossible.

Du Ying'er?

Were you hoping she would poison me to death?

I had long realized you were deliberately

getting close to her to use her to harm me.

I kept quiet

just to see what you were up to

and let you expose yourself.

As expected, you're impetuous.

As for Du Ying'er,

I have already locked her up.

Otherwise, how could I come to see you, my dear sister?

What's the matter? Why the sigh?

I sigh because even if you want to avenge Du Ruoshan,

you should know the whole story

instead of listen to one side of the story from Luo Xue'er.

H-How did you know?

Since you know,

stop pretending.

Luo Ailian,

you killed my Ruoshan

and then your own father.

Even if you escape this time,

you will be punished by karma.

Ruoshan's death has nothing to do with me.

It was his own fault.

And the death of my father

is because of Luo Xue'er.

Nonsense!

If it weren't for your slyness in avoiding the medicinal,

right now you would be kneeling before me, begging for mercy

and confessing your guilt.

I poured the medicine

into the flowerpot.

Take a good look.

It was clearly a bowl of poison.

Luo Xue'er said

she wanted to use it

to restrain me only to let you kill me.

Can't you see that?

(Danqing Winery)

I shouldn't have trusted that loser.

She simply can't

do anything well.

You used Du Ruoshan's death to deceive Du Ying'er.

You're really vicious.

What does her stupidity have to do with me?

She doesn't know what kind of a maniac Du Ruoshan was.

He barged into a maiden's room at midnight for harassment

but had a palpitation and died on the spot.

You know the truth.

Yet you distorted it when telling Du Ying'er.

You wanted to let her kill me so you could stay out of it.

Have you ever thought

what kind of punishment

she would face if you have her harm me?

You're ridiculous.

Why should I care about her fate?

To me, she is just a pawn to be manipulated.

Well said.

How is it enough that only I heard these words?

Ying'er, come out now.

Luo Xue'er, I have treated you with sincerity.

How could you use me like this?

It's your own fault for being foolish.

Now, knowing that the one you loved deeply was such a person,

how does it feel?

We'll settle this score later.

You've brought that to yourself. You can't blame anyone else.

What? Aren't you surprised to meet

your sister, Luo Ailian, again?

I didn't expect

that as your sister,

I would meet you with the appearance and identity of someone else.

All of this is thanks to you.

Heaven is blind!

Luo Ailian,

you should have died long ago.

Right.

I was trapped in the fire and my life was hanging by a thread.

Just when I thought I was going to escape,

you ruthlessly attacked me.

I had considered countless people who might have wanted to kill me,

but I never thought it would be you,

my dear sister.

I have searched my heart and know that I've always been kind to you.

But how did you repay me?

What you did left an indelible mark on me.

You and Luo Jida were both deceitful.

He usurped my birth father's property.

And you pretended to be nice while always suppressing me.

You even wanted me to take your place in a ghost marriage.

What a way to be 'kind' to me!

After all this, you are still slandering my father.

Alright, as sisters,

we have many accounts to settle in this and the previous life.

Let's settle them one by one.

I'll be the first to 'settle'.

Your family wronged me at first!

Is that so?

On that day when you lost, you said righteously

that Master Xiao of the Xiao Winery was your birth father

and that it was my father who seized his family property

- to create the Ganlu Brewery today. - That's right.

As soon as you told me, I began to doubt

how my father, being so upright and respected,

could commit such a despicable act?

After my investigation,

my doubt was proved right.

It was all your speculation.

My father never did that.

Instead, he gave help.

Master Xiao had long been addicted to gambling

and was deep in debt.

He even had to mortgage the winery.

It was my father who bought the winery at a high price.

Otherwise, the entire Xiao family would not have survived.

What a mouth you have, twisting right and wrong!

To clear your and your father's names,

you've fabricated all sorts of nonsense.

This is the Xiao family's ledger.

Take a good look.

Impossible. How dare you forge this and deceive me?

This is the testimony of their former servant.

He's at the Shen Mansion.

If you don't believe me,

I can take you to see him right now.

The truth will reveal itself then.

I shouldn't have taken so much trouble.

But I pity you.

You have been blinded by groundless hatred,

unwilling to face the facts.

So, I'm telling you the truth

to make you admit defeat willingly.

Impossible.

You're lying!

I'm lying?

You killed my father.

You killed Luo Ailian.

I'll have someone accompany you to turn yourself in tomorrow.

You'd think it over carefully.

This is the last bit of luck

that I, your sister, left for you.

And don't think about using my identity to threaten me.

You have no evidence.

Luck?

I also gave you luck once before.

That night, I arranged for a carriage to take you away.

Why did you have to come back?

Why?

That's right.

Luo Ailian!

You shouldn't have come back.

You shouldn't.

Lock her in the shed.

- Take her to the yamen tomorrow. - Yes.

I know you have deeply misunderstood me

and no matter how much I explain, you might not believe me.

I set up this scene today to let you know the truth.

Now you know everything.

I believe you've made up your mind.

What exactly have I done?

I'm sorry,

Danqing.

No!

Miss, it's me.

I'll save you.

Miss, bad news!

- Someone took Luo Xue'er away. - What?

It's my fault. I only sent

two armed escorts to guard her.

I didn't expect there to be a master by her side.

Gather the armed escorts

- and search her possible hideouts. - Yes.

Miss, have some water to calm down.

Thank you for saving me.

Otherwise, I would have fallen into the hands of Shen Danqing.

I saw you didn't return since you went to Danqing Winery.

So I went there.

Miss, what should we do next?

Shen Danqing won't let me go.

I must find Prince Yi soon.

Prince Yi?

That's right. Now I know the secret of Shen Danqing's identity.

Given the grudges between Prince Yi's and Xu Chengfeng,

I can take the chance to offer

to serve Prince Yi.

By then, not only will my life be out of danger,

perhaps I could even turn the tables.

It's a great plan.

But how do you plan to get in touch with Prince Yi?

Don't worry.

Since I've escaped,

I believe that heaven won't abandon me.

(Luo Ailian,)

(let's wait and see.)

(If I could make you die once,)

(I can make you die again.)

(Prince Yi's Mansion)

Zong Wei,

how are you doing on the other side?

Did you receive the carriages,

horses,

and servants

I burned for you?

Xu Chengfeng.

Shen Danqing.

Shen Zishan.

You've not only ruined my plans

and my great cause,

but also killed my trusted follower.

I will definitely not spare you.

I will tear you into pieces

and make you suffer!

- Your Highness. - What!

There's a woman outside the door asking for an audience

She's presented this token.

She also claims she can relieve your worries.

Are you blind?

Can't you see that I'm in a bad mood?

I won't meet any random person. Get lost!

- I'm sorry, Your Highness. - Wait.

(Xu)

(Xu)

Bring her in.

- I want to see how she will help me. - Yes.

Who are you?

Your Highness,

thank you for helping me out in Zuiyun Tower that day.

Thank you, Your Highness!

Stand up to speak.

Thank you.

How presumptuous! Is this the place you are supposed to sit?

As a commoner, I know

this seat is reserved for your trusted follower.

But I also know

that he has been killed by Shen Danqing and Xu Chengfeng.

Now that he is gone,

don't you wish to find a replacement?

Like you?

What abilities do you have to assist me?

Actually,

I have always been concerned

about your struggle with Xu Chengfeng.

On the surface, Xu Chengfeng seems to be winning,

but in reality, there is a big flaw by his side,

which makes his fall the more severe the higher he climbs.

What flaw?

Shen Danqing.

Oh?

I know the secret of Shen Danqing's identity.

The current Shen Danqing

is actually masqueraded by Luo Ailian.

Luo Ailian, the patricide.

If we can prove that she is in collusion with Xu Chengfeng,

it would help you

turn defeat into victory.

Do you have evidence to prove what you have just said?

If not, it's nothing but nonsense.

And toying with me will make you pay.

I have personally verified it.

It's absolutely true.

It's just that my words carry no weight due to my low status.

But your status is esteemed.

Wouldn't it be easy for you to present evidence?

Please believe me.

Don't miss this great opportunity to deal with Xu Chengfeng.

Is what you've said true?

Every word of mine is the truth.

What audacity!

Do you take me for a fool?

I know that you are an enemy of Shen Danqing.

So you want me to be your weapon.

- Guards. Drag her out and drown her. - Yes.

Your Highness!

I am telling the truth.

Your Highness,

I am telling the truth!

His Highness!

Everything I've said is the truth.

(Your Highness!)

(Your Highness!)

She jumped down here last night.

Why did she do that?

Excuse me.

What a pity!

So, have you found Luo Xue'er?

Miss Shen,

Luo Xue'er is dead.

Dead?

After Luo Xue'er ran away last night,

she must have gone to seek Prince Yi.

Presumably, she failed to find refuge and angered Prince Yi.

In anger, Prince Yi

ordered guards to drown her.

Was there a body?

I went to the lake

and saw people move her body out of the water.

It was Luo Xue'er indeed.
