=Lady Revenger Returns From the Fire=

=Episode 19=

You can tell from the poetry.

The spring breeze colors the clouds,

and the jade dew moistens the flowers,

therefore, it's best to brew 'Moonlit Encounter' on a spring day.

And the water used must be from the dew on hundreds of flowers.

But the dew is rare to get for brewing.

It's not difficult.

Just immerse the flowers in water,

and through steaming,

the water containing the essence of the flowers will turn into vapor.

Recondense this vapor back into water,

and you will obtain the purest Jade Dew of a Hundred Flowers.

You're indeed skilled at brewing.

Well done.

Making wine with poetry,

it's akin to the ingenuity of Zhou You, an artisan in the Southern Dynasty.

Did you say Zhou You?

Zhou You excels at creating intricate trap blueprints.

He loves wine,

poetry, and painting.

It is said he would incorporate the methods to unlock his traps

within his poetry and paintings.

Coincidentally,

I happen to have collected many of Zhou You's paintings.

I'll show them to you.

Yeah.

- Let's open it and take a look. - Okay.

This painting is extremely rare.

It's a treasured possession that I have cherished for many years.

You can have it.

Consider it compensation for the brewing recipe I obtained from you today.

Mr. Ouyang, are you saying

this painting is the clue to the developing water?

I've heard that the sage founders of our country

once obtained a treasure map.

Rumor has it that the traps

and the treasure map were done by the same person.

So perhaps this painting contains clues to the developing water.

I see.

Thank you, Mr. Ouyang.

I don't care about all that.

What I love are poetry, paintings,

chess, and wine.

You said

this wine was about the same as Luo Ailian's 'Moonlit Encounter'.

You were not afraid I'd use this as an excuse to not honor the bet,

and you've told me the brewing method.

This is sufficient proof of your pure intentions.

With this painting in your hands,

I am relieved.

We're glad to meet Mr. Ouyang over chess and wine,

and we've had an unforgettable time.

Danqing and I won't bother you any longer.

Remember to come and visit me often.

- I will bring fine wine next time. - Good.

We will take our leave now.

Qingshan Clinic owes 4,000 dan.

Zishan.

Ying'er, what are you doing here?

I was just talking to Mr. Qin,

saying I wanted to give Mr. Du some fine wine.

When are you going back?

You can take it.

You'll go home soon.

If you tell your father about this good deal,

he will be very happy.

You're thinking of us,

but what about Mr. Du?

If that's the case, you should hurry back home

and make your father happy.

Ying'er, what's wrong?

Nothing. I'm okay.

I'll go now.

Thank you, Zishan.

(Zishan seems anxious for me to leave.)

(Is he afraid I'd discover something?)

(Why would Danqing have the memorial tablets of the Luo family?)

(This is so strange.)

(The Luo family.)

(The Luo...)

What?

Shen Danqing has my dad's memorial tablet?

I saw it with my own eyes.

There's a secret door in Danqing's room,

with Luo Jida's memorial tablet in it.

Have you asked anyone else from the Shen family?

Not yet.

Danqing is away,

and Zishan seems to be in a hurry for me to leave.

Something felt off,

so I told no one.

Do you have any clues?

It is a bit strange.

Apart from Luo Jida's memorial tablet,

there was another one,

named Bin.

What?

- Bin? - Yes

Bin?

Even if she is friends with Luo Ailian,

why would she honor Bin?

Who is this Bin?

Were there only these two

and not Luo Ailian's?

No.

Xue'er, what's going on?

If you know something, speak up quickly.

Ying'er, I have a bold guess.

Luo Ailian might still be alive.

What are you talking about?

Hear me out.

Bin is Luo Ailian's personal maid.

Since Luo Ailian died,

Bin has been missing.

Could the person who died in the ancestral hall fire

wasn't Luo Ailian,

but Bin?

But if it was Bin who died,

where is Luo Ailian now?

Perhaps she is hiding in the Shen family.

Otherwise, why would there be a tablet for Bin

and not for Luo Ailian?

Stop your nonsense.

This is bizarre.

It might be,

but my instincts should be right.

I was wondering earlier

how Shen Danqing could plan so precisely

and defeat the Luo family.

If that's the case, it makes sense.

Ying'er, have you ever heard

that the Shen family has taken in a burn victim?

Did you say a burn victim?

I saw a tattoo of a lotus flower

on the back of Danqing's neck.

She said it was to cover a scar.

It seemed to be a burn scar.

You're saying Shen Danqing has burn scars on her back?

Yes, Zishan said

Danqing was seriously ill before.

I asked the servants

and they said she was bedridden for months.

Later, she suddenly got better and recovered.

I didn't ask about the specifics.

I see.

That explains it.

I've never heard of Luo Ailian having connections with the Shen family.

Ying'er, you've known Shen Danqing since you were young.

Has she ever mentioned Luo Ailian to you?

Never.

I get it now.

The real Shen Danqing might have passed away from an illness long ago,

and the one who appears before you now

is not your good friend from the old days at all,

but Luo Ailian.

I hear you.

Danqing never knew how to brew wine before,

but now she is very adept at it.

She says she can't remember many things

because of the serious illness.

Also, Zishan is deliberately trying to drive me away.

Could it also be because of that?

Oh my, what on earth is going on?

This won't do.

Xue'er, I think we should report to the authorities.

This scares me.

Ying'er, we can't do that yet.

We have no evidence.

Remember, from now on,

don't trust the Chen family again.

If you want the truth,

we must first verify our speculations.

(Zhou You's poem) The poem explains the painting,

and vice versa.

This riddle should complement this poem and painting.

So we must hurry to solve this riddle

and find the developing water before Prince Yi returns.

Indeed, riddles are at hand.

However, the riddle I need to solve is not just this one.

It's been a long time since we drank and talked, hasn't it?

What's that look?

You haven't answered me.

Why can you brew the wine that Luo Ailian is capable of brewing?

I...

But please don't tell me

it's because you can brew Chengfeng Wine and Rose Liquor

and you just put two and two together.

Such words might deceive Mr. Ouyang,

but you can't fool me.

Shen Danqing.

How many more secrets do you have that I'm unaware of?

Remember this?

I thought Mr. Ouyang and the Luo family were old acquaintances

and this jade pendant belonged to Miss Luo,

so I thought it better to bring it along just in case.

I didn't expect that it would indeed come in handy.

General Xu, what do you mean?

Luo Ailian entrusted me with this jade pendant, which she treasured most,

and told me

she wanted to find out the truth.

After proving her innocence, she'd come to me to take it back.

Otherwise, she'd rather it be shattered to pieces.

Now, I return this jade pendant to you,

its rightful owner.

Okay, as I've said before,

I want to prove Luo Ailian's innocence.

I will keep it safe for her for now.

It's getting late.

We should go back.

Don't go.

Who are you, really?

Are you drunk?

Who else could I be, if not Shen Danqing?

Stop lying and tell me the truth.

What are you doing? Let go!

I should have had doubts about you long ago.

That day you took an arrow for me,

and I saw the scar on your neck.

Although it was covered by a black lotus tattoo,

that scar was definitely caused by a burn.

Don't open boxes when you shouldn't.

You want to see through me?

Before, when you saw the notice,

your expression suddenly changed.

Is it because, like that woman, you've also switched identities?

You are not really Shen Danqing.

You are Luo Ailian.

You're asking questions

just to confirm I am Luo Ailian, right?

Are you afraid of meeting the same fate as the Qinghe County Magistrate?

General, give me any punishment

you see fit.

You finally admit you are Luo Ailian.

I'm sorry. I'm late.

I should have realized sooner that you were Luo Ailian.

How have you managed to keep it a secret for such a long time?

You must have suffered a lot.

It must have been hard.

But from now on,

you don't need to pretend in front of me.

You don't even ask me if I have killed anyone.

Because I trust you.

Whether you are Shen Danqing or Luo Ailian,

I trust you.

If you were able to confirm that I am Luo Ailian through various clues,

others might as well.

General, you should stay away from me.

You can have better options.

No, my choice has always been only you.

No matter what secrets you have,

I will keep them safe for you.

Danqing, actually, I've been thinking

if we could be together,

I could protect you more.

Nonsense.

No way.

I am still the murderer of my father

and I've stolen another's identity.

The road to revenge is not yet complete, and the path ahead is certainly thorny.

But you're different.

You're a great general with illustrious achievements.

You don't...

So what?

No matter what you want to do,

I can help you with it.

Actually, I've long harbored deep feelings for you.

I forced you to reveal your identity

because I hope that no matter what happens,

I can be your staunch shield.

No matter any clash of blades or swords,

as long as I am here,

they can come at me.

Come on.

You're back.

Zishan, we've found a clue to the developing water.

Zishan, I apologize for what I did earlier.

I was out of options.

What clue did you find?

A painting.

Let's talk inside.

What happened between you?

I'll let you know later. Come on.

This painting is the clue of the developing water

that we obtained from Mr. Ouyang.

We now know that the treasure map and this painting

are both from the talented artisan Zhou You of the Southern Dynasty.

The developing water is related to him.

The plum trees by the riverside ferry,

which means the painting and the poem could potentially point

to the developing water's location.

That's right. Chengfeng has a list of places with ancient books stored.

We can act separately

to gather Southern Dynasty ancient books

and see where Zhou You had been before.

Maybe there's any scenery that matches the description in this painting.

Danqing is right.

We can also try to look for information

on what the developing water is in the ancient books.

It's been a long time.

Even if the developing water is found,

it might be ineffective.

Well thought out, Zishan.

This time we must act quickly

and discreetly.

On the way to Mr. Ouyang,

we were followed.

It might be the people of Prince Yi.

Although he has been impeached,

he has not slackened in the slightest.

Let's split up tomorrow.

You just got back.

Get some good rest.

Oh, and by the way, go check on Ying'er.

She caught a cold

and has been in her room all day.

Then I'll go right now.

Zishan, why are you staring at me like that?

I can explain the incident where I bound you last time.

Zishan, I know you're upset,

but was that necessary?

Do you think I hit you simply because you tied me up?

If it weren't for your little tricks,

this trip of you and Danqing's wouldn't be so smooth.

I am aware of her secret.

Aware?

What do you know?

Danqing's secret

and Luo Ailian's secret.

I am aware of them all.

I will keep her safe.

So what?

You know her secret,

but you know nothing about her past.

You enjoy her affection,

but you have never been with her through the hardest days and nights.

I am the one who has stayed with her through the long nights.

Why?

Why does she like you, of all people?

Why?

Indeed, there are many things in this world

where one can find fairness between giving and receiving,

but not love.

Love knows no fairness.

I like her.

She likes me.

No reason is needed.

If you're still upset, we can keep fighting.

But you have to promise me

that after the fight, we are still good brothers.

Ying'er.

I'm back.

I heard you've caught a cold.

Are you alright?

I... I want to get some sleep.

Let's talk tomorrow.

Do you need Mr. Miao to come and take a look?

No need.

You go back first.

Okay, then.

Good night.

- Zishan. - How is Ying'er?

She said she wasn't feeling well.

She wanted to rest and didn't see me.

- You can wait until she gets better. - Mhm.

Zishan, there's something I want to tell you.

What is it?

I...

You've come clean to Xu Chengfeng, haven't you?

He guessed my identity.

So, I couldn't hide it any longer.

He's more accepting of my identity than I thought he would be.

And...

What else?

He said he wanted to marry me once everything was over.

Did you say yes?

I know that marriage is a matter of parental command.

And I've long considered you as my own brother

and a father figure.

So I would like to ask for your consent first.

I've also told Chengfeng

we'd have to wait

until Luo Ailian's name is cleared

before I can marry him.

Danqing.

Do whatever you want to do.

I will always support you.

Thank you, Zishan.

Miss, why are you suddenly looking for this person?

Heaven helps me.

I have found a huge secret.

As long as we find her,

not only will it solve our current predicament,

but it will also crush Shen Danqing in one fell swoop.

Not just Ganlu Brewery,

I might even own Danqing Winery.

Shen Danqing.

Or perhaps I should call you Luo Ailian.

(Prince Yi's Mansion)

It must have been a long trip to Liao City from the capital,

Your Highness.

Xu Chengfeng thinks he can easily bring me down with a mere impeachment.

How preposterous.

With just a few words, you have resolved the crisis in the court

and regained the Emperor's trust.

You have always been wise.

How could you fall for Xu Chengfeng's tricks?

Xu Chengfeng provoked me repeatedly.

I shall not forgive him.

Has there been any unusual activity during my absence?

Xu Chengfeng and Shen Danqing ventured out in disguise,

seemingly looking for clues to the developing water.

As you instructed,

the scouts followed them

but were discovered by Xu Chengfeng

and lost them.

The outcome of their trip is unknown.

It appears that they already know the secret of the developing water.

We must hurry.

Anything else?

One more thing.

According to the scouts left behind,

the Shen family has announced

that Shen Danqing is the adopted daughter of Master Shen.

- Adopted daughter? - Correct.

Shen Zishan, as the young master of the Escort Agency,

did not accompany Xu Chengfeng in search of the developing water

but let Shen Danqing go instead.

The relationship between these three is intriguing.

I am quite curious.

Zong Wei, go investigate Shen Zishan.

- The more detailed, the better. - Yes.

Danqing.

Why can't you look at me more?

Why did you choose him

but not me?

Find a way to have him stamp the bill

- and the blank sheet of paper under it. - Right away.

My apologies, Young Master Shen.

Our establishment is closing, you see.

Young Master Shen.

The loose silver from the shop has already been stored away.

There truly is no spare change for you.

Young Master Shen, you are a regular patron of our shop.

(Zuiyun Tower) Just a stamp on this bill is enough.

Your Highness is one step ahead,

noticing the abnormal relationship between them

and took the opportunity to spin a story on Shen Zishan.

Hearing your information

and looking at Shen Zishan

further confirmed my conjecture.

Shen Zishan is probably fond of his sworn sister, Shen Danqing,

but Xu Chengfeng beat him to it.

We can just use this to counterplot.

Also, this plain note with the Shen family's seal

is the boat ticket sending Xu Chengfeng to his demise.

Once Xu Chengfeng falls,

the good days for Shen Danqing and Shen Zishan will come to an end.

I want to watch with my own eyes

as they die one by one in front of me.

(General's Mansion)

Your guards are here.

General Xu, an urgent secret decree.

His Majesty has heard

that you found important clues to untangle the treasure map.

He is quite pleased.

But someone has impeached you for neglecting your duty in Liao City

and losing vital evidence.

The Emperor fears future troubles

and orders you to find

important clues for the treasure map case in ten days,

or you must return to the capital for investigation.

(The only evidence lost was a crossbow.)

(When we traded the crossbow)

(for Zishan's medicine, only we, Prince Yi, and Zong Wei knew about it.)

(Prince Yi won't expose his shortcomings.)

(What exactly is going on?)

I dare to ask if the impeachment for losing evidence has solid proof.

Someone close to you has submitted a statement

and provided a deposition.

The Emperor was convinced after.

Someone close to me?

Could it be that there is a traitor by my side?

Hold on, I have a gift for Young Master Shen.

I am just a commoner.

Thank you for your kind intentions.

I'd rather keep my distance.

Why are you nervous?

You and Xu Chengfeng are love rivals.

The enemy of an enemy is a friend.

I will not harm you.

I will even give you the opportunity to defeat Xu Chengfeng.

Do you remember the bill you signed at the Zuiyun Tower a few days ago?

In fact, you stamped your seal on a blank paper.

On the plain note with your seal, I've written your accusations

against Xu Chengfeng and submitted them to His Majesty.

How could you, a dignified prince, resort to such vulgar means?

By my calculation,

the imperial secret decree of condemnation should be arriving soon.

Listen to me.

You and I are now in the same boat.

From the moment Xu Chengfeng receives the secret decree,

no matter what explanation you offer,

Xu Chengfeng and Shen Danqing will both regard you as an outsider from now on.

Rather than waiting to be abandoned by them,

it's better to take the initiative.

I know you cherish the glory of the Shen family.

As long as you and I cooperate to deal with Xu Chengfeng together,

I will make sure that you regain the glory of the Shen family one day.

I won't do such a despicable thing

for selfish reasons.

Do not hurry to answer.

I will let you think it through.

Your Highness, save it.

I will never cooperate with you.

The Emperor has issued you a military pledge.

It took a long time for the treasure map case to yield a clue.

Now, in just these ten short days,

how can any breakthrough progress be guaranteed?

But an imperial edict is issued.

I can only do my best.

That's not right.

I remember you said that the Emperor never listens and believes one-sidedly.

No matter how Prince Yi schemes,

he would not act just for his status.

Why is he so irritated now?

They say there is a traitor among those in the know.

That's impossible.

From the beginning to the end, only the three of us know the truth.

The traitor is me.

Zishan, what are you talking about?

Prince Yi is cunning and sly.

I have fallen for his trap.

He used my seal

to forge a false testimony and submitted it to the Emperor.

If I overturn it,

I would commit the crime of lying

which would not only endanger me

but the entire Shen family.

Zishan, we all believe in you.

There will absolutely be no betrayal or suspicion among us.

Let's talk about solutions.

Chengfeng, if you have any new investigative leads or instructions,

just give them to me.

I will do my best.

It will also count as my way of making amends to you.

(Admiring High Mountains)

Chengfeng, tell me.

Since the minister is in the court,

it's not difficult for you to find out who impeached you.

Why didn't you tell Danqing just now?

I know you would never betray me.

So, needless to say that.

Zishan, you wouldn't think that I would stir up any trouble

in front of Danqing because of it, right?

Is that how you think of me?

I was discontented with you before.

And I hit you.

It's only human for you to doubt me.

That's not related.

I've said it before.

Even after the fight, we're still brothers.

I'm fair and clear.

You've saved me

and bound me.

So we're even now.

I will give my all for the treasure map.

Great, let's find the map and the developing water

as soon as possible.

Yeah.

If there's anything, just say it.

I don't get it.

You spoke so bluntly with Shen Zishan,

but why didn't he fight with Xu Chengfeng?

You just can't change your impatient nature.

I'm sorry.

You have a plan.

I overthought.

Those who should know already know.

And I have also found out some secrets.

Although Shen Zishan has not come to us for now,

it doesn't mean he won't turn his back on him in the future.

Just keep your eyes peeled

and wait for the show between the three of them.

Yes, Your Highness.

Ying'er, are you feeling better?

Are you still not awake?

I've brought you some tasty food.

(Once you return, act normal.)

(Don't let Shen Danqing notice anything.)

Danqing, you are so annoying,

disturbing one's sweet dreams.

What about now?

Still annoying.

It will make me fat.

A bit of chubbiness is cute.

I will accompany you to the winery today.

I haven't seen wine-making before.

- I want to see it before I leave. - Sure.

(Danqing Winery)

Danqing.

It must be hard managing the winery by yourself.

Not really.

- Miss. - What's the matter?

The winemaker said there was a problem with this yeast

and would like your opinion.

This wine is clear and free of impurities.

The floral aroma is strong,

overpowering the original fragrance of the wine.

It's the rose flower.

Adjust the heat when extracting the flower juice.

I will tell the winemaker.

Just by looking at the color

and smelling the wine, you were able to find the problem.

I see others tasting the wine. Don't you try it?

After checking the color and smell, the next step is tasting.

But I've found the issue by the smell,

so, no need to taste it.

Shouldn't you taste it to be absolutely sure?

You're right, Ying'er.

(You can observe her.)

(She has a habit when she tastes wine.)

It's undoubtedly an issue with the flower juice.

What's wrong, Ying'er?

No, I'm just impressed.

I never knew you were so good at winemaking.

Miss, General Xu is here.

Mr. Shen said it was important

and sent me here to get you.

Ying'er, I...

Don't worry.

When you have time, bring me to see the winemaking process.

I'll stay back

and go home later.

Okay, see you later.
