[STAND BY ME]

[EPISODE 43]

Ruoqing.

At the time of Han Yue's accident,

I almost killed Qiu Ziliang.

I could have let him die!

In the end, I still lost.

General Han sacrificed his life for nothing,

while Qiu Ziliang is still alive.

I should have known he was a monster.

Even if there was the slightest chance, I should have seized it and killed him immediately.

How could I let him…

start all over again?

Ruoqing.

It was my fault that he could hurt them.

Hurt Xiu and hurt Ruoling.

I'm responsible for what happened to you!

It wasn't your fault.

It was.

I believed in myself too much.

It's all my fault.

Ruoqing.

Believe me.

It's not over yet.

Everything can still be set right.

Qiu Ziliang was indeed on his retreat.

But there was a problem with the medicine he prepared.

Did Uncle Guang plan that?

Yes, he did. Together with the miracle healer.

Earlier Qiu Yanzhi and Cheng Xi nearly caused the Divine Army to fall apart.

It made him believe there was a mole.

In order to draw his enemies out, expose them,

he pretended to go on his retreat and asked Left Rook to investigate secretly.

So Left Rook had actually returned to Heng'an, hadn't he?

Correct.

He hid himself at Gao Ping's house.

And what did he find out?

Prince Guang, Qiu Yanzhi, and Lingling were all exposed.

But you weren't, Your Majesty.

We always covered our tracks when we took action.

We didn't attract their attention.

Prince Guang was working secretly ever since the Zhaolu Incident.

Maybe even earlier than that.

He had infiltrated the lowest levels.

My teacher...

once commended Uncle Guang.

He described him as prudent, a man of few words.

He said he must have great intelligence, and those with great intelligence

surely have great ambition.

But why did he stop Cheng Xi again and again, and save Your Majesty so many times?

Because he cherishes his reputation.

And I'm completely different from him.

In order to achieve my goal,

I could call my enemy Godfather,

kill my teacher, and take the throne.

I could live in infamy before the whole world.

But he's different.

He's Prince Guang.

And he must remain flawless.

Your Majesty, the time has come to take the next step.

Minister Li is ready, waiting for Your Majesty to spring the trap.

But I'm still worried about Ruoling.

Your Majesty! Now is a critical juncture.

You must not let your feelings get in the way!

She knew well what I took from the Wang family,

but she was still willing to throw herself in danger for me.

In this life of mine,

I really own Ruoling too much.

Because she knows what her grandpa died for.

Only when you win, Your Majesty,

all these nightmares can really come to an end.

You win, the Xing Dynasty survives.

You lose, the Xing Dynasty ends!

Tell me you can do it!

Yes, I can.

Greetings, Prince Guang.

It's good Your Highness is here.

His Grace said as a member of her maternal family, you can send the bride off.

Miss Qiu, as a noblewoman you're surely very busy,

but you aren't even dressed yet.

Have you forgotten it's your wedding day?

Fellow citizens, listen up!

His Majesty is getting married today.

The prohibition on alcohol is lifted today.

Bottles of wine are granted as gifts.

He wants to share drinks with his people! All are entitled to some!

Come on, come on. Line up to get some!

The wedding day has come so quickly.

Come on, come on. You can all have some.

Come on, come on.

This kind of wedding wine is hard to drink.

Careful, don't drop it.

- Next. - All right.

Yan Xiu.

Yan Xiu loves Yanzhi,

but Yanzhi has to marry His Majesty.

Come on. You can all have some!

Line up, come on.

Come on, come on.

Here you are, take it.

Careful now.

Get lost!

How dare you drink that!

It's the emperor's wedding wine!

Get lost, all of you!

Get lost, all of you!

Not again.

How can I have sympathy for people like you?

They're all mine!

He dares to take our wine! Beat him up!

Get him!

This'll teach him!

How dare he!

Get him!

Never mind, I'll take it as revenge for Aunt Li.

Stop it, that's enough.

Stop it, everyone!

Stop it!

[DEPUTY OFFICER]

He works for the government.

Get out of here, everybody!

Go, go! Get out of here!

This kind of wedding wine is hard to drink.

[JIANGQI CAMP]

Set off!

When I see everything is well with you, I'm relieved.

It's them again.

Order from Camp Guardian. The plan has changed! Get Lingling and kill her at once!

Yes, Sir!

Yanzhi wouldn't kill me. What in the world is happening?

- Master! - Master!

Go after him! Kill him!

Yes!

Everything goes as you wish. Congratulations.

You can all go now. I'll accompany the emperor to bed.

- Yes, Your Highness. - Yes, Your Highness.

Accompany me in bed?

Qiu Ziliang ordered me to give you a son as soon as possible.

The bloodline of the Xing Dynasty

is something he plays with like a toy, that Duke of Chu.

So then…

I need a child.

In my condition,

I'm afraid…

I'm afraid…

I can't help you with that.

If that's the case,

I'll leave now.

Wang Ruoqing.

I already know your real identity.

What did you say, Your Majesty?

What identity?

Aren't you Wang Ruoqing?

If you need me to be, I can be, Your Majesty,

Just like Han Yue needed back then.

If I were Wang Ruoqing,

I would have…

Your Majesty.

How is it? Is that her?

This is the second time I've identified this girl. She looks just the same.

Your Majesty, if you really want to verify if she is Ruoqing or not,

there is actually another way.

What do you suggest?

When the older girl was young, she was very afraid of cats.

When she saw a cat, a rash would appear on her body.

But when the younger lady was young she liked cats very much.

So at the time, the younger lady could only play with a fake cat.

Jingles.

Yes, exactly!

It was a toy cat and its name was Jingles.

Your Grace. When Li Deyun came back home, he met secretly with his students.

The seven of them talked for over an hour.

What were they talking about?

We don't know yet.

Your Grace, shall we bring several of them here for interrogation?

No, don't put them on alert. Keep an eye on them.

Let's see what on earth Li Deyun is going to do.

Yes, Your Grace.

Have you caught the miracle healer?

Except for Deputy Officer, we've got everyone else.

Good. You can go now.

Yes, Your Grace.

I'm not dead.

Are you disappointed?

Sooner or later.

Tell me. What is the solution?

Since you designed it, you must know how to solve it.

There is none.

Qiu Ziliang, all you can do is wait for death.

Tian Shan, I've sincerely come to apologize to you.

I only found out today that your family was killed by me.

But that happened ten years ago.

Don't be so hypocritical.

You're a devil who's killed countless people!

You won't die peacefully! You'll never die peacefully!

Tian Shan,

although I apologize to you,

you still say something like this.

It's not very nice to hear.

You still have some relatives on your mother's side, don't you?

Let's do it this way.

If you refuse to tell me for one day,

I'll kill one of them.

You refuse for two days, I'll kill two.

Let's take our time and keep on like this, and see who's got real patience.

Qiu Ziliang! Qiu Ziliang, you devil!

You're nothing but an animal that's lost its humanity!

Teacher,

what is it that Uncle Guang really wants?

The throne?

The country?

Or... truly, a strong and prosperous Xing Dynasty?

I...

can't read him at all.

If he really has evil intentions,

then how should I

deal with him?

Put him in jail,

let him go,

or kill him?

♫ Life is like a dream, how long can you indulge in it ♫

♫ With the storm roaring outside, where can you rest your soul ♫

♫ I raise my sword, but I can't cut off our ties ♫

♫ The universe is filled with nothing but the void ♫

♫ Destiny is bleak, fate shows no mercy ♫

♫ The sun rises, and the moon wanes, life is hard to forsake ♫

♫ No iron heels can crush the fire in my heart ♫

♫ Think about the past and let time slip away ♫

The hardness of my life

is hard to describe by words.

But meeting you made God pity me

And it was the truest happiness I could get. Ruoling.

♫ I cross my heart devoutly ♫

♫ Only for you to be saved ♫

♫ Love is like a dream, nobody can tell when it will end ♫

♫ Sleeping on a chilly night, drinking bitter wine alone ♫

♫ Drink as I sing, but I still can't let it go ♫

♫ I hope you have a happy dream and stay with this heart ♫

♫ The past re-emerges in front of you ♫

♫ Forget as you remember ♫

♫ I cross my heart devoutly ♫

♫ Only for you to be saved ♫

♫ The past re-emerges in front of you ♫

♫ Forget as you remember ♫

♫ I cross my heart devoutly ♫

♫ Only for you to be saved ♫

♫ Only for you to be saved ♫

His Majesty is here!

You're not feeling well, Your Majesty,

so you needn't come and see me.

Royal Grandmother.

We should surely follow protocol.

I greet you, Your Highness Grand Empress Dowager.

I'll leave then.

Let me see you off.

Yanzhi.

Come here and sit down.

Thank you, You Highness.

Cutting the recommended budget of the Divine Army?

Yes, Your Grace. That was what Li Deyun has discussed with his students these days.

Good.

During the period of my retreat,

it looks these clowns have really

enjoyed their time on the stage.

Your Grace, the eunuchs await your decision about

how to stop this.

No,

just let him do it.

There was already several months' shortage of provisions, wasn't there?

Send out the news

and say they were embezzled by Li Deyun.

Moreover, say he wants also to go further

and cut their pay.

If we do so, I'm afraid there will be unrest in the army.

Yes, let there be.

It's time to get rid of Li Deyun, he's been a thorn in our side.

Yes, Your Grace.

Where's Cheng Xi?

Cell number nine.

Your Majesty, what message did you ask Li Zening to send?

How about you?

On the wedding day,

what did you discuss with Uncle Guang?

You don't have a son, Your Majesty,

and it's dangerous.

Indeed.

So you and Minister Li need to

take action soon.

What have you guessed?

I didn't guess anything.

However, as you're the son of Heaven,

you should do things that way.

Do you know why the late emperor failed?

Because the Zhaolu Incident was a conspiracy,

not the way of Heaven.

Your Majesty, the time has come.

You should declare the rules in court.

There should be no more backroom deals.

If you change the rules of the game,

you become the referee for Prince Guang and me.

This next round will be played by you and Qiu Ziliang

fair and square.

Seeing me do you feel it strange?

- Have you finished your retreat? - Yes, I have.

I went on my retreat because there were things that escaped me.

Now I've figured them out,

and I've returned.

I didn't expect you'd to be Qi Qing's daughter.

After Qi Qing failed with his rebellion,

you left your hometown and lived in exile.

Then Cheng Huaizhi saved you,

and came with him to Heng'an.

You incited Cheng Huaizhi to get you into the palace as a servant.

In this way, you could reunite with

your half-brother from the same mother,

Prince Guang.

Since then, you've been scheming

to get Prince Guang onto the throne.

After the Zhaolu Incident, you persuaded Emperor Wen

to pass the throne to Prince Guang.

As you wished, Emperor Wen wrote the imperial edict

and asked Han Yue to give it to Wang Yang.

I was one step ahead of you.

I searched Wang's house

and killed Wang Yang.

When you got there,

the imperial edict was gone.

Prince Guang found out that

Wang Yang's younger granddaughter was not dead,

so he brought her back.

He pondered what to do

and decided to hide her in Ziyi Bureau.

You thought that little girl could be used to control Qi Yan,

so you agreed cheerfully.

You also helped to create a false identity for her

and changed her name to Cheng Ruoyu.

- You know everything. - Of course.

Nothing I want to know escapes me.

But you know,

there's something you don't know.

Your good brother certainly didn't tell you.

Not only Wang Ruoling,

her sister Wang Ruoqing

also survived and is alive and well.

Didn't Wang Ruoqing die?

Yanzhi.

Yanzhi is Wang Ruoqing.

Yanzhi is Wang Ruoqing?

Yu'er's sister?

Your original plan was to get Cheng Ruoyu and Qi Yan together.

If Cheng Ruoyu and Yanzhi

both become his suitors,

wouldn't it be more interesting?

What do you want to do?

You lost but you are not willing to accept that failure, are you?

Do you want to play another round?

We can turn Wang Ruoling and Wang Ruoqing

against each other as rivals.

Ruoling.

Yan Xiu.

What on earth has happened to bring the Deputy Officer here himself?

By the order of Camp Guardian, I'm here to protect you.

Please come with me, we need to divert from Jiannan.

I don't need your protection and I won't change my way.

I really just want to take you to somewhere safe.

You'd better not follow me

or my kindness to you ends.

Ruoling!

Ruoling!

Ruoling!

- Aunt. - Yu'er!

You're in danger now, do you know it?

I really just want to protect you.

Aunt. Aunt!

Aunt, what's going on?

You're injured so you'd better…

I won't die.

And I'm not here for you either.

I'm relieved to know you're okay.

Where are you going then?

I'm going to send Li Rong's ashes back to her hometown.

Then...

have you given up your crusade?

I've been totally ruined.

What crusades can I wage?

Aunt, why don't I take you there?

No need.

I happen to be going to Dongchuan.

Aunt Li's hometown is on the way.

Yu'er, thank you.

But after all we've been through,

there's no way for me to look you in the eye.

Let's just go our separate ways.
