CASE NO.: KW CCR 270/93 "MURDER" VICTIM PRATHAMESH BHOKSE INDIAN PAKISTANI

CASE NO.: KW CCR 271/93 "MURDER" VICTIM: YAN HUA

After reenacting the falling case,

Mai Zhihong will be escorted to the next crime scene.

Mai Zhihong, the suspect of a 25-year-long serial murder case,

was arrested.

He has just reenacted the crime at the building.

The police will release updates, and we will continue to follow the story.

Blind Dart, his right-hand man, has taken over all the business

and is in charge of Grim Ace's old business.

Things are tense. Don't act rashly.

Keep a low profile. Especially you.

Is it very sunny here? Why wear sunglasses?

Sir, I am blind. I can't see clearly without them.

Dart, come here.

Say sorry.

- Hello. - I saw Blind Dart at the scene.

- Be careful. - Blind Dart is nearby.

Wait a second.

Find cover.

Be careful.

The rooftop behind.

Hui, get in the first car.

- Shenju, take Mai Zhihong away. - Okay.

The rest of you, cover.

Go, up there.

Cover. Move.

Go!

Have some water.

Rest well and heal up during this time.

Are you crazy or something?

Taking a bullet for a criminal?

Do you know how dangerous that was?

The doctor said it was close. You could have lost your arm.

- No, that time-- - Don't move.

Dad.

Police! Don't move! Put your hands on your head.

Madam, I haven't done anything wrong.

Dad, where are you going? I'm so scared.

Sleep well, sweetie.

When you wake up and open your eyes, you'll see Dad.

Mind your wound.

Officer Zhang.

Eating so happily, that means you're alright.

How is Mai Zhihong?

Shot in the thigh. Not serious.

Have the two gunmen been found?

The dead one was a professional hitman.

No leads have been found.

The other one who fled is still under pursuit.

What about the bullet? Can any data be found?

- Checked the rifling. Nothing. - What about the informant?

Check if there were shipments from the gunmen.

Leave the investigation to me and rest well.

Don't work so hard.

Cops have always had to risk it.

I understand.

Cops have always had to risk it.

But was it worth taking a bullet for that madman?

Well,

you have someone else to think about, not just yourself.

I'm sorry for making you worry.

I came here from 1993,

and my only goal now is to solve the case.

People related to this case are dying one after another.

Only Mai Zhihong is left.

If he dies too,

the whole trail will be cut off.

I must save his life.

Also, we need to find out if the accomplice…

If the accomplice really is Dr. Chen,

both you and Dr. Zhou will be in danger.

My dad's report has come out.

The DNA on his toothbrush does not match the DNA on the knife.

He's not the killer.

DNA TEST REPORT NOTIFICATION

ONE IS MALE DNA, THE OTHER FEMALE DNA THEY DON'T MATCH

BOTH ARE MALE DNA, BUT THEY DO NOT MATCH

The two males in the DNA comparison

are neither Mai Zhihong nor Dr. Chen.

It means our assumption was invalid.

They couldn't be accomplices.

Jiajie, the public response to this incident is too great.

The higher-ups are angry, and you might be transferred.

Stop worrying about that. Focus on healing your wounds.

Give me some time. I will figure something out with Officer Ma.

What's wrong with you?

You seem to be under a lot of stress lately.

- You can tell? - Of course.

Nie Jitian is a criminal

doing all sorts of evil deeds, and yet I just can't catch him.

It's not that we can't catch him. We just haven't caught him yet.

Just like this sloping path we're walking on.

You can't reach the top with one step.

Let alone catching a thief, right?

- What's wrong? - Wait for a moment.

This is for you.

SAFE TRIP

I went to Wong Tai Sin Temple to have a master consecrate it.

What is this?

It's for safety.

Remember, once you put it on, you can't take it off.

Then, from now on in this world, you'll have more than just me as family.

You'll have one more.

Honey,

no matter how down you feel, feel it for at most half a day.

You must hold on.

Got it.

Kaiqing, I've made a new discovery.

I reviewed the victim list for the fire.

There's a female college student, Lai Yingqiao.

She might be Mai Zhihong's tutor.

Can you check her background?

No, no…

Not here, not here…

That's not right. No…

You've just had a narrow escape from death.

Why the rush to solve the case?

Coming to see me so early… Do you have a lead?

Hey, man,

the incident of you taking a bullet for a murderer has spread.

A journalist wants to set up an interview with you, so that's why I'm here.

Don't bother me.

I know.

You just refused to go on camera,

no matter how big the case was.

But some things, you can't avoid.

The boss will be here.

Officer Ma?

Yeah.

He says that the safety of his colleagues on the front line is his utmost concern.

The journalist is coming. He wants to get on camera, right? Stop bothering me.

Don't worry. I'll help you turn down the interview.

My advice is…

Stop investigating.

I'm leaving.

I'll take the interview.

Hello, Officer Chen. Thank you for meeting us.

How is your condition after being shot?

Lucky for me, not fatal.

The incident has caused some controversy.

Some say it's foolish for cops to take a bullet for a criminal,

but others say you are a hero.

Officer Chen, what's your take?

We were able to take down the sniper and successfully protected the witness.

Actually,

the real hero behind the scenes is my superior, Officer Ma.

Officer Ma, come over.

Thanks to Officer Ma's contingency plans, he notified me in time.

Otherwise, we could face an unimaginable crisis.

Guys, as for me,

I was responsible for staffing.

The real heroes are those on the front line,

risking it all and following my orders.

The credit mainly goes to Officer Ma

because he got me reinstated.

Take a picture together?

Sure.

Stand in the middle.

Officer Chen, here.

Officer Ma, look here.

- Over here, please. - This way.

Nice.

- Could you please look this way? - Well, look over here.

This dummy weighs 200 pounds. The same as Yan Hua.

You have a similar build to Mai Zhihong.

I need you to try everything to throw it down.

Alright.

Go ahead.

Hui,

both of you throw it down together.

Yesterday, where did Mai Zhihong throw the body for the reenactment?

The white spot.

- Over there? - Yeah.

But back then, Yan Hua's body was found at that location.

I asked Mai Zhihong.

He said he had just reenacted cases at two places,

so he was a bit tired and had no strength to touch the dummy.

A bit tired?

Yan Hua weighed over 200 pounds.

Mai is short and thin. Even if he was well-fed,

he couldn't have thrown it this far.

At least two are needed.

Yeah.

It seems that Mai would rather confess to the crime himself

than implicate his accomplice.

How can we get him to confess?

Any leads on Lai Yingqiao?

Yes, all background information, I'll send it to you.

Any place for good Char Siu Rice nearby?

Char Siu Rice?

How is it?

The food here doesn't suit your taste, huh?

Some good stuff for you.

Why did you take a bullet for me?

I'll tell you after you eat.

You don't like light food.

You don't like Char Siu Rice either.

Do you need the tutor to accompany you?

Only then you would eat?

What a pity.

She died so young

with so many dreams unfulfilled.

I've looked into her background. Her name is Lai Yingqiao.

She is one of the victims of the Vista Tower fire.

I heard she had good grades.

She got A's in several subjects in the middle school exams.

Four A's and one B.

- Graduated in accounting. - Actuarial science.

- HKGS. - HKGS.

Did she take you to the university auditorium

to walk around?

She was in charge of the drama society and took me to watch her rehearse.

What drama was it?

The Lying Woman.

That year, she even won awards.

Leading actress?

Also the director.

You rascal.

You usually act all crazy.

I didn't expect you to have such a good memory.

What you said matches the report.

You're not wrong. It's this newspaper that's wrong.

The newspaper got it wrong.

The award she received was for The Eighth Sin.

Lai Yingqiao wasn't your tutor.

I've watched the reenactment of your case.

Pretty good. No omissions.

But there's something you did wrong.

The place where you threw Yan Hua down was different from back then.

You killed Zhang Jiajian,

not just out of hatred,

but to mislead the police.

You wanted everyone to know you killed them all.

You wanted to take the fall alone.

What's your connection to the fire case?

How did you find them?

Save us! Don't go!

Help us open the door.

Save us!

- Don't go! Please save us! - Save us!

- Don't go! - Don't go!

Help us! Don't go away!

THE LIST OF THE DECEASED

Who did this?

And the scar on your stomach,

you left it there.

The one seeking revenge isn't you.

It's that tutor.

You've done so much.

Going to jail again, not caring for your own life.

Is it worth it?

You took a bullet for me

to save my life.

Everything to find out the truth.

- Is it worth it? - Sure.

It's worth it.

Actually, I'm a lot like you.

You want to protect your tutor.

I need to protect my wife and daughter.

Neither of us is wrong.

The mistake

was you picking the wrong side.

I am a cop.

You are a criminal.

If they go after you, they can go after the tutor too.

You are locked up in here.

How can you protect them?

Tell me.

Who exactly is the tutor?

You must tell Officer Yao.

The tutor will really die.

There's no time left.

His time is running out.

Think fast.

Give me a name.

We must tell Officer Yao the bad guy's name.

Officer Yao will catch him.

The FFEB report has come out.

The bullet that hit Jiajie

and the one found in the gang fight two years ago

share the same rifling marks.

It's believed to be from the same gun.

No records found before?

OCTB handled this case.

The materials were just sent to us.

I vaguely remember it.

Lenco, Blind Dart, and Chicken fought for territory.

It was a dog-eat-dog fight, total chaos.

Blind Dart?

Jiajie reminded us that Blind Dart was also at the scene.

If that's the case, let's split into two teams.

One team watches Blind Dart. The other investigates Mai Zhihong.

Jiajie interrogated Mai.

His tutor is not Lai Yingqiao. It is someone else.

Therefore, the person seeking revenge is not Mai Zhihong,

but his tutor.

Based on this reasoning,

the casualties of the fire likely include the relatives of the tutor.

After the fire,

an organization established a charity fund.

All the families of the victims could register.

The tutor might've registered.

You and Shenju, look into the fund. Kaiqing and Jiajie, track Blind Dart.

Go ahead with the tasks.

Ms. Zhuang's busy. Please take a seat and wait for a bit.

- Thanks. - You are welcome.

I'm sorry for being late. I was in a meeting.

It's alright. Thank you for taking the time to meet us.

Ms. Zhuang,

we asked you to provide the list of beneficiaries

for the fire charity fund

and records of your activities.

But since you haven't replied, we came to find out in person.

Sir,

the fund was set up

to aid the families affected by the Vista Tower fire.

They have the right to privacy.

As the CEO of the fund,

I am obliged to know your purpose.

Frankly speaking,

this list

may be related to serial murders.

Ms. Zhuang,

you might have noticed the news about Mai, right?

Yeah.

Isn't he the murderer?

He's been caught. What else is there to investigate?

It's not convenient to disclose the details.

I understand.

I'll have the secretary give you a copy.

Thank you.

- Officer Zhang, here is the list. - Thanks a lot.

Colleagues are waiting for Ms. Zhuang.

She's unable to see you out.

- It's okay. - I'll see you out.

By the way,

- may I take one of the flyers? - As you wish.

- Thank you. - You are welcome.

This woman has quite a business sense.

Officer Zhang,

you want a beauty treatment?

The trademark is very familiar.

The gym Mrs. Shi went to, the one Jiajie followed her to,

belongs to the same group.

The trademark is the same.

Good morning, Mrs. Shi.

Follow her.

Kaiqing,

you're tailing Blind Dart. Where are you?

Almost at the roundabout of Clearwater Bay.

Zhuang is also heading that way. They may have arranged a meeting.

Kaiqing, take photos of Blind Dart.

I'll take photos of Zhuang. Capture their faces.

What's wrong?

Your sloppy job has caused trouble.

That lunatic was caught by the police, and they are now on to me.

We all need to be careful.

If Shi's people hadn't acted recklessly,

we wouldn't be in this situation.

The investigations are too strict. Hold off on your business.

Mind your own business. No need to worry about me.

Thirty years ago, Zhuang Xiaohua was just an average real estate salesperson,

selling some second-hand houses and shops in the old city district.

But in just a few years,

her business grew bigger and bigger, and she established a beauty empire.

Could she be involved in the acquisition of Vista Tower?

Very likely.

Now, as a public figure, she often participates in charity events.

She's also known as a philanthropist in the business world.

Last time, I followed Shi Dazhi's wife to a gym.

It is also run by this woman.

I suspect that the hard drive was taken by someone she sent.

Looking at it this way,

Zhuang Xiaohua's status must be quite high

and even higher than Shi Dazhi's.

She has always focused on the latest news about Mai Zhihong.

Not only Zhuang was nervous,

even the boss behind feared that Mai would rat them out.

They hired Blind Dart to take him out but failed.

Mai Zhihong probably knows who the boss is,

but he hasn't acted.

Maybe he wants to leave it to the tutor for revenge.

Criminals can't be above the law or resort to vigilantism.

We should split up and watch Mai.

You have to say it. You have to tell Officer Yao.

Let me think about it.

- I need some time to think. - The tutor will really die.

My life belongs to the tutor.

If you think my life is of any use,

you can take it too.

We're one step away from success.

We have to tell Officer Yao the name of the bad guy.

Officer will catch him.

This is betraying the tutor.

If you don't say it, I will.

I would rather betray the tutor. At least he won't die.

Do you know I could kill you?

You're really scared this time.

You're afraid you can't protect anyone anymore.

You've become so weak now.

How is he?

His condition is not very stable. He's been talking to himself.

We're one step away from success. Doing this is betraying the tutor.

Shut up, shut up, just shut up!

You shut up.

What are you doing?

You care a lot about these dogs.

Feeding them fresh pork bones. Even bought a bone-chopping knife.

So generous of you.

I used to feed them chicken breast.

I thought meat was good for them.

But then I learned that it wasn't good for their bones.

Especially for their teeth. They'd degenerate.

That's why I need to buy pork bones, bones with meat.

Let them train their teeth.

So they can bite back when they encounter an enemy.

That's like when you were studying as a child.

Training your teeth to be so strong

that you could even bite off an ear.

But you were lucky.

When a dog bites a person,

it has to be captured and put down.

You, on the other hand, were only sent to a mental hospital.

The mental hospital is nice. Consider it a vacation.

Since you were there, did they give you a sedative?

- Yeah. - What was it like?

Dizzy and dazed.

Sometimes vomiting, sometimes convulsing.

In severe cases, it could be fatal.

Sounds pretty scary.

Don't worry. Just take it as relaxation.

By the way, officers, with such high work stress,

do you want a shot too?

I didn't expect Mai's condition to be so poor.

Hallucinations of psychiatric patients are quite negative.

Remember, don't let him hurt himself.

You shouldn't have let Chen Jiajie see him.

This will provoke him.

Jiajie took a bullet for Mai Zhihong

and saved his life.

I feel that Mai Zhihong's attitude towards Jiajie has changed now.

Whatever.

Be careful. Got it?

Do you remember our promise from over 20 years ago?

Yeah.

ACTUALLY, IF I DIE…

- Stop acting crazy. I'm begging you. - Hey!

- What are you doing? - What are you doing, maniac?

- Pick it up. - If you are sick, go see a doctor.

Are you crazy or what?

For those bullies,

do you know the best method to deal with them?

What are you yelling about?

What happened last night?

You went crazy again last night. You kept hitting the wall.

- Did Chen Jiajie come over last night? - Yes, he did.

I want to talk to him.
