A BODY FOUND! COME NOW!

- Officer Chen. - Daddy, what brings you here?

I just got off work.

So, I decided to stop by

to give you property info.

Could we put the immigration matter aside?

I want to concentrate on the case.

Understood. I'll talk to your mom.

You can focus on your case.

Excuse me.

The disciplinarian.

Look.

The school discipline director. He said he knew her.

She's called Zhong Yi.

Let's go back and investigate it right away.

I've got to work.

Drive safely, Daddy.

Be careful.

Our daughter has already grown up.

You don't have to worry about her.

If I don't do something,

I'm afraid I might lose her.

Have you lost weight again?

You must have been working hard.

Yeah, it's pretty tough.

But no matter what,

I'll spend time with Daddy.

Do you still remember

what Daddy told you when you first

became a team leader?

I remember.

You told me

you'll always be my support.

No matter what happens,

I can always talk to you.

This one looks like you.

Really? It doesn't even have a beard.

One for each of us.

As a lucky charm?

I call dibs on "Daddy".

You all right?

I'm okay.

…THE PATERNITY PROBABILITY IS UP TO 95.7% …BIOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIP EXISTS

Zhong Yi.

She was a secretary at the Rongshi Group

until she married into a wealthy family.

Then, she had a son

who guaranteed her life.

Therefore, she might not tell the truth.

We need to improvise.

Is it this place?

It should be.

WestK DCS. Are You Miss Zhong?

Officers.

What can I do for you?

Miss Zhong.

Could you let us in?

We can sit and chat.

- Sorry, I can't. - Understood.

Just a few questions. It won't take long.

Is this a sketch of you?

Who drew this?

Miss Zhong.

Please answer the question.

Is the person in the drawing you?

No.

Do you recognize who she is?

No, I don't.

Do you remember Mai Zhihong?

Have you been in touch?

Did something happen?

Why are you bringing him up?

Mai Zhihong just escaped from the mental hospital.

Aren't you scared?

I am!

This man is a psychopath.

How would I know if he would harm innocent people?

Officers, you need to catch him soon!

We heard that he used to harass you frequently.

Is that true?

I don't want to bring it up.

I have nothing to do with him.

Please leave me alone.

Sorry for bothering you.

What's the situation?

She wasn't surprised

when she heard Mai escaped from the hospital.

It's strange.

She was wearing an earphone.

- Let's ask her again. - Jiajie.

Hold your horses. Let's have a look with a drone.

It's Mai Zhihong.

Jiajie! Wait!

- Call for backup. - Roger.

- I've done as you said. - Is it fun?

Please give me back my son!

Let me play with him a bit, okay?

What the hell do you want from me?

What do I want? I want to help you!

Help me?

What are you talking about?

You're a murderer!

When people live in happiness, they forget everything.

Tell me.

Why did you help me when I was young?

Was that sympathy?

Or was it charity?

Or, "No, I just want others to praise me for being a good student!"

Like this?

I truly wanted to help you.

It was out of goodwill.

Don't!

Have you ever heard that saying?

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

Your goodwill made me what I am today.

Just like a big tree,

it keeps growing

towards the sunlight, upwards.

Meanwhile, it also roots downwards,

all the way down to the darkest place.

What if I, out of good intentions too,

help your son to be free?

- No! - Freeze!

Officer Yao, what took you so long?

Calm down

or I'll shoot you.

Sounds nice. Do it.

Put the knife down!

Everyone's here.

Put the baby down first.

We can talk.

Sure.

Stop!

How is Zhong Yi involved?

Why did you hold them hostage?

What's your real purpose?

Why did you capture Dr. Chen?

Did you kill Shi Dazhi and his wife?

Miss Zhong.

Please cooperate with the police.

Tell us everything you know.

Your son won't always be so lucky, you know?

I can collaborate with you.

But you can't disclose my identity.

We can sign a confidentiality agreement with you

and apply for a court order.

You can rest assured and tell us.

I was the disciplinary committee leader.

When I met Mai, he was being bullied.

So, I took him to the infirmary.

After that, he considered me his only good friend.

He kept nothing from me.

Did he tell you about his family?

I remember he told me

he had a very bad relationship with his mother and sister.

At that time,

Mai Zhihong's mother was working as a dishwasher in a restaurant.

You little brat, why did you come back so late after school?

- Mai Zhihong would help out after school. - Come and help me with the dishes!

You little brat, feeding a chicken leg to this sick dog?

What a waste.

Mom, can I adopt Chestnut?

Chestnut? You even gave it a name?

Are you completely crazy?

I'm begging you.

Don't make so much trouble.

Chestnut, I'll take you out for a walk.

Come on. You can eat outside.

Let's go.

You psychopath!

What's wrong with you? Peeping at me?

You peep at your sister? Are you insane?

- I didn't know you were there! - Are you insane?

Stop. Stop arguing!

He peeped at me while I was changing!

I didn't, I didn't, I didn't!

Come on. Let it slide!

Don't you know he has something wrong with his brain?

Are you retarded or just pretending?

If you're sick, go see a doctor!

Alright, alright, alright.

Mrs. Ho next door gossips. Don't let her hear you.

Let it go.

You, apologize to your sister.

I was not peeping at her!

Say sorry!

Say it, say it!

You lost your tongue?

Sorry.

Out of my way!

Jeez.

One, two, three, four, five.

- Mom? - What?

We raised it to eat it.

Do you know how expensive this is? Such a waste of money!

Want to bite off this ear?

Answer our boss's question!

- Speak! - Dummy!

What's going on?

Mai Zhihong, give me the knife.

Take him to the infirmary.

Okay.

Pick them up.

Come to the principal's office!

Zhang Jiajian didn't really care about him,

someone from an ordinary family.

He cared about how to flatter those of status

and how to maintain his own image at school.

I felt Mai Zhihong was very pitiful.

I had a moment of compassion.

So, I was kind to him.

Are you all right?

I never thought he would actually like me because of this.

And then,

he kept bothering me, following me.

I wanted to get rid of him, but I couldn't.

After a while,

he stopped attending school.

I thought I was finally free.

But that was just the beginning.

My family was short of money.

After school,

I would work at a nightclub.

One night,

a man asked me to join him.

He was a social worker from the school.

Zhang Jiajian.

That bastard.

Threatened me to get a room with him

or he would expose me

and take everything away.

CLUB, TIAN CHUN MAN

So, I had no choice.

See you next time.

I didn't want to be threatened by him.

So, I decided to confront him.

Stop the car.

Little did I know

that I would witness a scene

I would never forget.

You saw Mai killing people but didn't call the police?

I was afraid he would come after me.

If you feared him, why tutor him?

Tutoring?

I never tutored him.

Did he ever tell you about a tutor?

No.

Eat more while you can.

The food in prison is very tasteless.

Zhong Yi testified.

She said that you killed Zhang Jiajian.

The handcuffs have chafed your wrists.

Eating like this,

it's surely uncomfortable.

Let's see if this helps a little.

Chestnut.

It's Chestnut's leash.

Chestnut.

Chestnut was very well-behaved!

Why did Mom treat you like this?

Chestnut.

Bobby.

Don't be afraid.

Big brother is here.

Chestnut is dead.

Big brother will take you to buy another dog, okay?

I really liked Chestnut.

I know.

I know Chestnut was well-behaved,

very kind.

So are you, right?

It's this world that has forced you into this.

Big brother wants to tell you.

There are bad people in this world.

And there are good ones.

Have good people helped you?

I can't tell you.

I know.

Is that good person the tutor?

I can't tell you, really!

Don't be scared. Don't be scared.

Just tell me.

Big Brother really needs his help.

He-- Shut up, Bobby!

Officer Yao might be able to help us--

I told you to shut up, Bobby!

I want to say it!

Officer Yao.

Bastard!

How dare you bully a child?

Mai Zhihong.

I just want to help you get back on track.

Tell me.

Who is the tutor?

Is it related to the Vista Tower?

Don't the police always say they like to protect people?

You can't even protect your own family.

I still remember your wife and daughter,

they came to the prison to meet me, crying,

telling me they didn't know where Daddy went.

They missed Dad so much!

And then, your wife died!

As for Xingyao, she missed you a lot!

She hasn't been able to find Daddy for over 20 years!

No, she found Daddy. She found Daddy now!

But that Daddy is not you!

That Daddy is not you!

Daddy!

Daddy!

Daddy!

Daddy!

Daddy! Xingyao can't find Daddy!

What are you thinking?

Haven't you always wanted to catch Mai Zhihong?

You caught him now.

Zhong Yi is willing to testify.

He won't get away now.

Officer Ma said

the case will be closed.

I know.

But there's one thing I just can't figure out.

Let's hear it.

Aside from Zhang Jiajian,

the other victims were all related to the Vista Tower fire case.

What was Mai Zhihong's motive for killing them?

It doesn't seem right.

He managed to find those people

with the reports.

Could Mai Zhihong have accomplices?

And who was that tutor anyway?

Now, we can only hope

that Dr. Zhou can get him to talk.

Don't count on it, Chief Inspector.

There's something we can do first.

According to the law,

the police can collect samples from suspects arrested for serious crimes.

The samples could be used for DNA testing.

Understand?

This guy could go crazy at any time.

I'm coming in with you.

No need. I have to be alone with him, so he can trust me.

Is there anything we can do?

Please give me some paper and a pen.

And also, a band-aid.

Thanks.

Hello, Mai Zhihong.

Can I call you Zhihong?

I'm Zhou Manyi.

You can call me Manyi.

Have a glass of water.

They said you don't like to talk.

You have a sore throat? It doesn't matter.

Maybe you could tell me what you usually like?

Zhihong.

Do you like to draw?

I really like drawing.

Since you don't like to talk,

how about drawing it?

There's a circle.

Can you do me a favor?

There are three children here.

They all want to eat this cake.

We need to divide the cake into three equal parts.

They must be the same size.

Can you do it?

Help me out.

Manyu? Eel

Zhou Eel.

Zhihong, stop scratching. It's bleeding.

Here.

Put a Band-Aid on it.

Zhihong.

Take it.

Let me open it.

Here.

Stop. It's bleeding.

Right now, I don't need you to draw an eel.

I want you to divide a cake.

Could you help me divide the cake again?

Divide it among three children.

Thank you.

I knew you could do it.

However, Zhihong,

if these three slices of cake

could be given to your three favorite people,

who would you like to give it to?

Write it down.

English names or Chinese names are both fine.

TEACHER

TEACHER

TEACHER

All three are teachers.

This teacher,

you like her, right?

In the past, only the tutor was kind to me.

The tutor.

The tutor.

Zhihong.

Do you know a social worker named Zhang Jiajian?

Did he violate

a female classmate you liked, named Zhong Yi?

Zhong Yi was selling her body for money from the very beginning.

I already felt she was very filthy.

I didn't kill Zhang Jiajian because of her.

Because he was not fair in his dealings.

You can understand me, just as the teacher does.

What about Vista Tower?

Those behind-the-scenes criminals, they never bullied you.

- Why do you want to punish them? - They deserved to die.

Why?

They burned the teacher to death.

They burned the teacher.

So, you did all this

to avenge the teacher, right?

The teacher must be very happy now.

Was this teacher really that nice?

I want to meet him too.

Can you tell me?

What's the teacher's name?

Male or female?

Officer Liu.

What's the matter?

Mai's DNA report came out.

And?

It doesn't match the DNA on your knife.

How's that possible?

I scratched him that day.

Impossible.

Is the report wrong?

Don't mess around. I know what you're trying to do.

- Could the DNA be mistaken? - DNA doesn't make mistakes!

- Jiajie! - Jiajie!

Jiajie!

What happened, Officer Chen?

Calm down, Officer Chen.

- Take off your shirt. - What for?

- Lift your shirt up. Show me! - So, you like men, huh?

- Come on, come on. - Jiajie, Jiajie!

How about that, loser?

Starry Light 383.

Someone asked

if you wanted to know who killed Zhang Jiajian.

He said the killer's name is Mai Zhihong.

You killed people.

I will catch you and put you in jail.

Do you have any evidence that I killed people?

Did someone tell you,

"Mai Zhihong is the murderer?"

Hit me, kill me. Killing is so exhilarating.

Just like how I killed those scumbags. So thrilling!

They all got what they deserved.

Whether it's 25 years ago or now,

I'll catch you anyway!

When that firefighter was killed,

Mai Zhihong was working in the store.

His boss can vouch for him.

So, I asked for another autopsy.

This time, in his body,

traces of anesthetic components was found.

- What kind of anesthetic components? - Midazolam.

Just like 25 years ago.

You suspect Mai?

First, where is your wife?

Second, where is your daughter?

Third, how will you find them?

There's a mole by your side.

PASSERSBY HIT BY A CAR, MOTHER DIED

We also found a notebook.

In that notebook,

there is a list of the deceased from the fire case.

He has been playing with me. A cat-and-mouse game.

However,

he is the cat, while you are the mouse.

Check if the shop where Mai used to work still exists.

- Okay. - Thanks.

Sir, we reexamined your statement from that year.

PENG KEE CO.

The night when that firefighter was murdered,

you said that Mai was repairing the aircon here all night.

Yes, I remember.

It has been 25 years.

You remember an event from 25 years ago so clearly?

Because I won money betting on horses that night.

Of course I'll remember.

Fortune Bettor, go!

Fortune Bettor, go!

Fortune Bettor! Fortune Bettor! Fortune Bettor!

Go! Go!

I won!

I can eat shark fin this time! I got rich!

Why didn't you mention it in your statement back then?

It was an outlaw gamble.

Not exactly something that I can tell the police.

What else do you remember?

Think carefully.

Are you really sure, on that night,

Mai never left the shop?

He is a man.

He needs to go take a leak.

A few minutes at most. Pretty common, right?

The client wanted the aircon back soon.

Hong fixed it for him.

He even took dinner for only ten minutes.

It's been over 20 years.

The world outside has all changed.

But this sewer hasn't changed a bit.

Watch your step.

I encountered the man in black up ahead.

The surroundings were too dark.

I didn't see his face.

I always thought it was Mai Zhihong.

Mai will be on trial in a few days.

That DNA report

could have proved

that he might not be the culprit.

However, what a shame.

The report is not qualified.

I know.

Am I supposed to tell the judge

that I brought the knife with me from 1993?

In fact, I've been suspecting someone all along.

Dr. Chen.

This case is over 20 years old.

It was after Dr. Chen was kidnapped by Mai Zhihong

that all testimonies and evidence surfaced at once.

We even caught Mai Zhihong.

A case we've been investigating for 20 years

was solved within a few days. Isn't it too easy?

But Dr. Chen was indeed injured by Mai Zhihong.

They found anesthetics in his body.

However, he wasn't seriously harmed after all.

Right?

I also hope I'm wrong.

If he really is the mole,

the consequences would be dire.

I understand.

You're worried about Kaiqing.

We'll keep this between us.

Don't tell her.

Thanks.

Criminals are also human beings.

Chen Jiajie saw him not as a human

but a tool to solve the case.

It's not fair to say that.

He did it

for the 39 lives

lost in the Vista Tower fire. He's trying to do them justice.

Mai killed the mastermind behind the Vista Tower fire.

That mastermind is the one responsible for the 39 lost lives.

Some citizens even think that he did the right thing.

But if everyone kills people at will,

like what he did,

what would this world become?

No one is born a criminal.

Mai Zhihong is also a victim.

I didn't manage to help him.

I even made him distrust others.

I feel a bit guilty.

How did you watch over him?

Officer Ma, you are also our superior.

Beating the suspect, forcing a confession.

If word gets out, who will take responsibility?

If the defendant went to court

and complained about procedural unfairness

and had all testimonies overturned,

how would the judge rule?

This case is not that simple.

I will keep investigating.

Jiajie and I did find a clue.

Mai Zhihong's boss at that time is very certain.

The night Zhang Qiang was killed,

Mai Zhihong did not step out of the store.

We have ample reason to believe he is not the only culprit.

After all these years,

his testimonies, his words,

are they still credible?

Jiajie, you take days off right now.

Close this case immediately.

Officer Ma, we're leaving now.

For the serial murder case

that caused a sensation 25 years ago,

there has recently been a breakthrough.

The suspect involved in the murder of several men,

Mai Zhihong, was recently arrested by the police.

He has initially pleaded guilty to all charges.

And he will soon go to court for trial.

What is it, Ms. Zhuang?

You heard the news, right?

We don't know his background.

The boss doesn't want him to talk in court.

Deal with him.

Don't leave a trail.

Rest assured.

I've always been very thorough in my work.

We will bring Mai to the case reenactment tomorrow.

The time, location,

and the route have been arranged.

Transportation will support us.

Everyone,

we will all cooperate. Failure is not an option.

Move.

Officer Zhang. The file you requested.

Thanks.

You are right.

If the people behind Shi really make a move,

be careful. Mai might be at risk.

Also,

in the reenactment tomorrow,

we need to keep a close watch,

- in case of-- - Kaiqing.

Is this Dr. Chen's file?

You're still suspecting my dad?

Do you target him because he's my dad?

No.

We are not targeting Dr. Chen.

It's because there are too many doubts.

We can't overlook any clues.

I know best what kind of person my dad is.

The DNA found on Officer Yao's knife

doesn't match Mai Zhihong's DNA.

How do you explain that?

And what about the testimony of Mai Zhihong's boss?

So, I believe the murderer is someone else.

We didn't tell you for a reason.

We didn't want you to worry

or misunderstand me.

Now I know everything.

I will investigate it myself.

I will prove to you

that my daddy is innocent.

Mommy used magic to make the centipede disappear!

Get ready. Look at the camera.

Get ready.

Three, two, one.

I lost a tooth. It hurts.

The method I gave you is effective, isn't it?

- And it reduces swelling. No more pain? - Yeah.

Remember what we should do after eating ice cream?

Brush out teeth.

That's right.

But do you remember how to brush?

Okay.

Show me how you brush.

That's right. Up and down, up and down.

And switch to your left hand.

Why?

Because you have to train your left and right brain.

Why did you come to see Mommy so early?

Good morning, Daddy.

You came so early today.

It's been a while since I had breakfast with you both.

I bought you a toothbrush.

- Why? - Doctors recommend an electric toothbrush.

Thanks.

You're so lucky. I got nothing.

Mommy, this is for you.

Thanks.

I'll open it later.

There's also your favorite chi faan.

I haven't had it for a long time. You can have this.

- That's nice. - Here.

Mommy, let me help.

Okay.
