alone in the universe,

then how do we explain
the wealth of verified

and recorded accounts of
unidentified flying objects?

The Pentagon has revealed their research

into UFOs or unidentified
aerial phenomenon.

They have proven without
question that UAPs do,

in fact, exist,

but are these UAPs alien in origin?

According to modern physics,
time travel is indeed possible.

Perhaps then these UAPs aren't coming

from somewhere else,
but from some when else.

Could these UAPs be us from the future?

If this is the case,

that the aliens we see are
indeed us from another time,

the questions are these, why
are they here and why now?

Rendlesham Forest,
Suffolk County, England.

December 26th, 1980,

the day after Christmas

- The Rendlesham Forest
incident of 1980 remains one

of the most intriguing
and controversial events

in UFO lore.

Occurring near the RAF Woodbridge
Base in Suffolk, England,

this incident involved
the alleged sighting

of an unidentified aerial phenomenon

by multiple U.S. and British servicemen.

- [Narrator] Multiple enlisted personnel,

including high-ranking officers,

witnessed colored lights
emanating from the forest.

- Several military personnel said

that they saw flashing lights in the sky

and later identified a
triangular craft that landed

on the ground and came in
contact with some of them.

This is one of the most
famous UFO incidents ever,

but it's still a hotly-debated topic.

- [Narrator] Several men
who inspected the area later

claim to have felt the air's
electrical charge increase

the closer to the
mysterious lights they got.

Others sensed time slowing down,

and one claims to have
not only seen a craft,

but even to have touched it.

- According to the investigation,

they claimed to have
encountered a metallic craft

on the forest floor described

as emitting in otherworldly glow.

Some witnesses even reported

observing hieroglyphic-like
symbols on the craft's surface.

- You know, when it comes to the theory

that some of the beings
that people are witnessing,

like in the Rendlesham Forest incident,

that these are people

from the future coming back to talk to us.

I mean, that was Jim, the witness's,

theory after 30 plus years coming back

to realize he'd created a
matrix of lines and whatnot

that said something that sounded

like it was from the future.

- [Narrator] Sergeant James
Penniston described it

as a large black ship,

triangular in shape, measuring
six to seven feet high.

On its sides were pictorial inscriptions

that, when he touched them,
transferred a binary code

of zeros and ones directly into his mind.

- Sergeant James
Penniston got close enough

to the craft to actually touch it.

And he says that he was downloaded

with some information in the form of code.

He later was able to write down

what looked like binary code

and many people have
tried to interpret it.

- [Narrator] Years later, a
computer programmer ran the code

through a translation program.

The results were chilling.

"Exploration of humanity,"

the translated message read.

"Continuous for planetary advance.

Eyes of your eyes.

Origin year 8100."

Could the incident at
Rendlesham Forest have been more

than another eyewitness account

of a recorded UAP encounter?

Could Rendlesham Forest be
proof of contact with beings

not just from somewhere else,

but from some when else?

Could those beings be us from our future?

While the concept of time
travel is relatively new

in the world of hard science,

it has long been discussed in literature

with the most famous example
coming by way of H.G. Wells.

In 1895, Wells published
his seminal novel,

"The Time Machine,"

in which a Victorian-era
scientist builds a device

that enables him to move backward
and forward through time.

Fast forward just 20 years to 1915.

Albert Einstein writes
his groundbreaking paper

on general relativity.

Suddenly, the prospect

of non-fictional time
travel became a reality.

With time travel a
theoretical possibility,

so many aspects of UAPs can
be seen in a different light.

- Sightings and accounts of contact

with humanoid beings have been reported

throughout human history

and across different cultures worldwide.

These encounters often vary in nature

and interpretation, influenced
by cultural, religious,

and societal beliefs.

- It could be possible
that human beings and races

from other planets and other civilizations

have progressed down
similar evolutionary paths

and that the results bear humanoid beings

that have slight differences.

It's more likely, however, in my opinion,

that the humanoid form is something

that has been developed over time

and that humanoid aliens really
represent distant relatives,

rather than completely different examples

of alternative evolution

- [Narrator] In H.G. Wells' story,

the scientist travels forward in time.

In his travels,

he meets new intelligent
species that aren't human

but are what humans have evolved into.

- The incident involving
Barney and Betty Hill,

known as the Hill abduction,

is one of the most famous
cases in UFO history.

- [Narrator] Throughout UAP history,

there have been no
extraterrestrial beings more

commonly encountered than
those referred to as the Grays.

While they first entered
into the modern zeitgeist

via the Barney and Betty
Hill abduction case of 1961,

they've possibly been around
for thousands of years

- So Betty and Barney Hill is one

of the first cases ever to
involve supposed alien abduction.

Now, this was a couple back

in the 60s that had a lot to lose.

They were an interracial
couple who was successful

in their businesses and well
thought of in the community.

They risked everything to come forward

with a story of encountering
an extraterrestrial spacecraft

on a lonely road where they
were then taken aboard the craft

and subjected to medical
experiments and more.

They stuck by their story
at great cost to them,

and it still stands out as one

of the most important
alien abduction cases

in Ufology's history.

- On the night of September 19th, 1961,

the Hills were driving home
from a vacation in Canada

when they reported experiencing
a period of missing time.

They claim to obscene
humanoid figures looking

at them through the craft's windows,

prompting them to run for their lives.

However, their next conscious memory was

of arriving home later

than expected with inexplicable
physical sensations

and fear flowing through their bodies.

Under hypnosis, the Hills
provided detailed descriptions

of the beings they encountered.

They described them as short in stature

with gray skin, large
eyes, and slits for mouths.

- [Narrator] They've been seen

in indigenous Australian cave paintings,

the statues of Easter Island,

Incan temples of South America,

the angels of the Judeo-Christian Bible,

and the Roswell incident in New Mexico.

- Humanoid forms depicted
in historical accounts

or popular culture are often influenced

by cultural and social beliefs,

as well as artistic imagination.

These depictions may not
necessarily reflect the most likely

or even the most feasible
evolutionary paths

for the human species.

- [Narrator] With their
large heads and eyes,

gray skin and lithe anatomy,

the Grays appear to not be human,

but they do have two arms and two legs,

hands and feet, two eyes.

What are the chances

that an alien race would
evolve to be so similar

to us in form?

- The Grays have become iconic
and a recognizable figure

in the field of Ufology.

- The gray aliens are the
beings most commonly described

by people reporting abductions

and encounters with non-human beings.

They're typically thin, small,
big heads, big almond eyes,

very small noses, very small mouths.

Now, these beings are often responsible

for conducting experiments
and making personal contact

with the people involved
in these encounters.

- They can't do anything.

They have long, thin fingers.

I hear of them sometimes levitating

to move instead of walking.

These things are rather cold.

A lot of people don't find
them to be very friendly

and very robotic.

In fact, the theory is

that potentially these
are some form of AI,

that these are some kind of robot.

That the entity can like
slip into this carcass

and move around, whatever the entity is.

- [Narrator] Looking
at life on earth alone,

we can see how different species can be.

Some creatures fly,
some breathe underwater.

Some can see in the dark.

Some have hundreds of
legs, while some have none.

The variations seem almost limitless.

However, one can see clear lines

of evolution across a species.

- So humans have evolved
a certain way to adapt

to planet Earth, but
it's also quite possible

that the human being as it is now

could evolve in a completely
different direction to adapt

to other environments and situations.

So it's not a stretch to think

that some of these humanoid
aliens that we see,

or some of these other
humanoid beings that we see,

are still coming from
the same genetic pool,

and that they have adapted

and evolved to fit their
own specific environments,

such as long travel on spaceships

or different gravities or
different densities of air.

The possibilities are endless

and the evolutionary
potential is just as big.

(jet whooshing)

- [Narrator] If humans are

to achieve interstellar space travel,

it's likely that we'll need

to colonize local planets and moons first.

Plans for that are already in motion.

At the 2016 International
Astronautical Congress,

SpaceX formally announced
plans for missions to Mars

with hope of colonization by 2050.

- If humans were to inhabit space

or other planets for generations,

they would likely face unique
environmental challenges,

such as altered gravity, different
atmospheric compositions,

and varying resource availability.

- Some of these beings that we're seeing

and hearing about might
not be that different

than what would happen to humans

if they evolved over time
in different conditions.

For instance, being on a distant planet

with less light and less
gravity might make us evolve

into beings that are smaller,
thinner, with bigger eyes,

and a whole different way

of covering the retina
and covering the pupil.

So evolutionary processes of human beings

could also resemble what we're
seeing in non-human beings.

- [Narrator] Extraterrestrial
travel could,

perhaps indeed would, necessitate
enough evolutionary change

that humans become the Grays.

But this theory all hinges
on one important idea.

At some point, humanity
learns how to time travel.

In terms of our lived
experience in the universe,

there is no question of whether
or not time travel exists.

Everything in the universe
travels forward through time.

But in Wells's book, the
character goes forward

in time faster than
everything else around him.

This means they travel into their future.

According to Einstein, this
is also something we can do.

- Our current scientific
understanding of time

and its manipulation
is limited to concepts

like time dilation, which
occur under specific conditions

such as extreme velocities
or gravitational fields.

- [Narrator] Let's say
a person built a machine

that could let them travel at
close to the speed of light.

If they traveled for one
year, they would return

over 2,000 years into their future.

But it's not just speed
that can change time.

A strong enough gravity
will have a similar effect.

If a person could somehow
withstand the gravity

at the edge of a black hole
without being pulled apart

into atom-wide strings of spaghetti,

they could also travel forward in time.

It may not be easy, but it
is theoretically possible.

The real problems

with time travel occur
when moving backwards,

even if the science says, once
again. that it's possible.

- The grandfather paradox
is a thought experiment

often used to illustrate
the logical contradictions

that arise when
considering the possibility

of time travel to the past.

Imagine a person travels back

in time and encounters
their own grandfather

before the conception of their parent.

If the time traveler were to,
say, kill their grandfather

or prevent their
grandparents from meeting,

it would create a contradiction.

Then the time traveler would never exist.

As a result, there would be
no time traveler to go back

in time to kill the grandfather,

leading to a logical paradox.

- Now, a lot of people look at this

and say that that makes
backward time travel impossible,

but there's other things that
we're not thinking about.

What if multiple timelines exist,

and even though you were
able to kill your grandfather

and erase your existence in one timeline,

the existence of you in the timeline

that was able to go back
in time is still there

in an alternative reality.

These things get deeper
and deeper and deeper.

- [Narrator] The infamous
grandfather paradox

is so persuasive that
several eminent scientists,

including Stephen Hawking,

believe that it makes backward
time travel impossible.

The math, however, says otherwise.

According to current models,

if two points in space can
be linked with two doorways

via a singularity or a strong
enough field of gravity,

they would create a tunnel
through space and time.

If you then flew one doorway across space

at close to the speed of light for a year,

you could travel 2,000 years
into the future or the past.

There is one sizable obstacle
though: it takes energy.

A lot of energy.

Obtaining and then controlling the amount

of energy it would take

to make time travel a
reality seems impossible.

Or does it?

In under 200 years, humans have gone

from using steam to power machines

to harnessing nuclear
energy for powering cities.

Why then is such a
technological advancement

so difficult to imagine
when UAP sightings have

already proven a mastery of time travel?

One of the most common descriptions

of UAPs is their
physics-defying maneuverability.

(pilots shouting)

Unfortunately, these
rapid changes in direction

and acceleration would tear a ship

and any crew inside apart.

- These UAP are displaying characteristics

that defy the known laws of physics.

Objects that can travel at intense speeds,

come to a complete dead
stop, change direction,

and then accelerate again
to unheard of speeds.

- With some of the extreme
movements that UFOs can have,

I think we'd make a little
splatter spot inside

of that craft if we were inside there.

Personally, I don't
think that there's a way

that we could survive
being onboard something

like that if there wasn't
something else going on.

- [Narrator] But if the
creators of such vessels

had control over localized time travel

so that the movements
inside weren't as extreme

for the inhabitants of the UAP,

then that wouldn't be the case.

- Some people studying
what the UAP are capable of

point to the possibility

that they're somehow manipulating
time and space and matter

to create these effects

that they're shown to be capable of.

But the technology to do that,

although it's theoretical
and theoretically possible,

is not something we're going to have,

if at all, for a very long time.

- [Narrator] If UAP flight
patterns prove a mastery

of the spacetime continuum,

then these same UAPs
could very well be here

from the future.

Combined with that, the fact

that the pilots of these
vessels frequently appear

as humanoids and the evidence suggests

that the aliens we've been witnessing

for millennia might be us.

But if that is the case, it
leads to one troubling question.

Why are we here?

- Archeologists study
past human civilizations

and cultures to gain
insights into our history,

while scientists delve into
the fundamental workings

of the world and the universe.

It is conceivable that future visitors,

if they possess advanced
technology and knowledge,

might be interested in
studying our time, culture,

or even remnants of our civilization.

- [Narrator] If we are the aliens,

we are yet to make our
presence purposefully known.

This suggests one plausible theory.

Perhaps we are archeologists

and historians meticulously
studying the past,

while simultaneously
trying not to alter it.

But why would we need to study ourselves

when we have developed so many forms

of record keeping and information storage?

Surely humans from our future

would have all the information they need.

(tense music continues)

- What if there was some kind

of global catastrophe that
disrupted civilization?

What if things changed in
such a way that the history

of our existence was lost

to future humans that might've
survived such an event?

If they had mastered time travel,

wouldn't it make sense to come back

and try to reconstruct the past

and maybe even construct a better future?

- [Narrator] Humanity has
succumbed to multiple events

so devastating that entire cultures

have effectively been erased.

Entire species have been
wiped out by natural events

such as ice ages,
volcanoes, and asteroids.

If such an event happens after humans have

begun interstellar
exploration and colonization,

then the most accurate
way for archeologists

of the future to study our culture

would be to come back here themselves.
