A'Wan.

Miss Youyi, which earrings would you like to wear?

A'Wan,

which pair is better?

This one.

This is nice too.

Listen to me, this pair looks better on you.

All right, you're always right.

Hey, Youyi.

Your new book sales are booming!

Come and take a look.

These are all letters from your readers.

A'Wan contributed a lot too.

Don't be so quick to compliment me.

Look at the gown I specially prepared for you.

What...

What happened?

Ladies and gentlemen, the moment has come!

Let's welcome tonight's grand finale, the water escape!

The performer is Master Zhen Shan!

Miss Xu Youyi!

You look so pretty today.

Our Youyi looks so beautiful today,

doesn't she?

Chu Huizi is furious.

Look at her.

She did it?

Who knows.

I didn't realize you were skilled at this too.

If it weren't for you, I would have been

China's Jeanne Lanvin by now. (T/N: A French designer)

The show is about to begin.

All right! All right!

Master Zhen would like a volunteer!

I would like Miss Xu Youyi to come up and help me.

Me?

He called you!

Go on, hurry!

I'm a bit worried for you.

For you, I'm willing to become a fish.

Miss Xu, I'll see you soon.

What's going on?

How's it going?

Make way!

Lift the curtain. Lift it!

- What happened? - How could this be?

[Shanghai Municipal Police Station]

Everything is fine now.

Mr. Zhou, this was an assassination.

The killer tampered with the lock.

We'll continue to investigate this.

That was too dangerous.

If the killer was crazier,

my wife would've been hurt too.

Please investigate this thoroughly.

I've already talked to Chief Song.

Mr. Zhou, this is my duty.

Whether you talk to him or not,

I'll still do my best to investigate this.

Ms. Xu, no matter who the killer is,

his methods show that he had a clear target

and didn't want to hurt anyone else.

So you don't need to be scared.

I understand. Thank you, Detective Jiang.

Of course.

A'Heng.

Drive A'Wan home for me.

There's no need.

You're not feeling well, so Zhou Heng should stay with you.

I'll call for a rickshaw.

That won't do.

It's dark outside and about to rain too.

I'm worried about you going alone.

A'Heng.

All right then.

I'll take her home and be back soon.

Youyi, go upstairs and rest first.

Don't overthink things.

I'm leaving then.

Okay, stay safe.

Miss Xu Youyi, please read.

My letter comes suddenly,

but I have a secret matter that I've been hiding in my heart, causing anxiety.

On the 2nd of this month, Mr. Zhou Heng and another woman

stayed the night at Qiaodong Hotel on Nanshan Road.

Based on their conversation and expressions, they seemed very close.

I saw this with my own eyes.

After thinking it over, I wrote this letter.

You can drink countless glasses of wine, but the sadness in your heart can't be erased. (T/N: All good things must end, but our sorrow is never ending.)

I hope that you will take care.

From your loyal reader.

His methods show that he had a clear target.

So you don't need to be scared.

Youyi, why haven't you gone to sleep yet?

Where did you go? You came back so late.

The car broke down, so I took it to get fixed.

The smoke smell is so strong.

I was waiting for so long that I got impatient,

so I smoked a few extra.

I'm going to go shower first.

Go to sleep. All right?

Is this the perfume that Madame Shanghai just recommended?

It's not for sale in Shanghai yet.

Where did you get it from?

Bureau Chief Wang brought it back from Hong Kong, right?

Smart.

Miss Duan, I'd like to ask you a favor.

Don't wear such strong perfume from now on.

My wife will misunderstand after I get home.

Smell it. Smell it.

It smells good!

- It's not strong at all. - This isn't strong?!

Is it strong? Is it? Is it?

I still need to go home! Stop it!

What are you talking about so excitedly?

Director Zhou?

Hello!

- Bureau Chief Wang. - Director Zhou.

Hurry, please have a seat.

Try this cigar.

It's smooth and has depth.

Holds its shape well too.

Let me try it.

So fancy.

This is really quite nice.

Yes, very nice.

- Isn't it? - Very nice.

Let's keep playing. Go on.

This cigar has such a strong smell.

We had so much fun today. I have to come again next time!

Okay.

- Bye-bye! - Bye-bye!

- We're going now, bye-bye. - Bye-bye!

Try this cigar.

When it comes to cigars like this, Bureau Chief Wang,

you should smoke a few extra.

That way, doesn't matter who's perfume you smell like,

no need to be afraid. It'll be completely covered up by the time you get home.

He smoked right in front of our house.

Why did he lie about fixing the car?

Is he also trying to hide some scent on him?

Mr. Zhou Heng and another woman stayed the night.

I saw this with my own eyes.

Madam.

This is today's newspaper.

Thank you.

[Chu Huizi spotted dating a mystery man]

What?

Really.

I think Zhou Heng is cheating on me.

Relax.

Here.

Drink some.

Try it.

Youyi.

Are you too overly suspicious?

You're suspecting Zhou Heng of cheating

just because of a few cigar butts and a letter

that someone sent as a prank?

It wasn't a prank.

I think what she said is true.

My gut wouldn't lie.

Fine.

Then tell me,

who do you think that woman is?

Chu Huizi.

Yes, Chu Huizi.

They used to be classmates.

But I've never heard that they knew each other.

But they've had opportunities to get to know each other.

All right, all right.

Stop guessing.

Let me look into it, okay?

You can find out?

Of course.

Then...

Then you have to promise

that you won't take his side and lie to me.

What nonsense are you saying?

I'm your friend.

When something like this happens,

I'm definitely on your side.

Youyi,

you have to promise me that before I find out the truth,

you won't do anything rash.

We have a photo shoot tomorrow too.

You have to keep up a good mood up, okay?

Youyi, did you know?

Part of the reason for your success

is because of your status as Zhou Heng's wife.

A lot of people are watching you.

You can't cause yourself trouble without any evidence.

I know.

All right. This wine is good, try it.

Cheers.

Okay, stop thinking about it.

Be careful on your way back.

Remember to call me when you get home.

Come on.

Careful.

Take care.

Bye-bye.

She's gone?

What should we do? She's getting suspicious.

Are you scared now?

I told you that we shouldn't go out in public.

Too many people know me in Shanghai.

What are you scared of?

She said she would let me look into it.

She'll believe anything I say.

You really are a bad girl.

Why are you so good at making up stories?

You should be a writer.

I want to as well.

But I don't have a father-in-law who is a minister

in the Department of Internal Affairs.

And I don't have a husband who is the young

and promising director of the Department of Transportation.

Then...

What about the young and promising director of the Department of Transport being your lover?

[Ho-Kuang Photo Studio]

What did you promise me yesterday?

I promised you nothing.

A'Wan.

Look. Your favorite print.

This store has good taste.

[No Credit Given]

The owner isn't even here.

I am here.

[Darkroom | Do Not Enter]

Are you the only one working here?

Yes.

You're quite young.

Can I help you?

We're here to take photos for Madame Shanghai's promotions.

I called and made an appointment earlier.

Make sure to make our Youyi look good.

Okay.

Excuse me.

Sorry.

Come down here.

You look beautiful.

Do I need to sit?

Just sit there.

Ready.

Why don't you two take a photo together?

You haven't taken one in a while.

Of course.

It would be my honor.

Youyi, smile.

Here.

Why don't the three of us take one?

Sure.

Is everyone ready?

Ready.

One, two, three.

When can we get the photos?

In three days.

Your curtains are beautiful.

Wait.

Let's save it.

Use this one instead.

Hurry, they're waiting.

Did we confirm the time?

Yes.

Ms. Youyi will go to Hall No.9 for the press conference first.

Once it ends at noon,

she will do an interview with Editor Chen in Yuhua Hall.

What?

[12 o'clock...]

I'm going to the main hall first. Hurry and finish up.

Miss Xu, please.

Miss Xu, you just finished the press conference for your book

and came straight over to this interview.

Thank you for coming.

Many thanks.

You're welcome.

This reason the press conference was a great success

is all thanks to our media friends.

Ms. Xu, you're too polite.

Then let's start the interview.

Ms. Xu, what do you think about the relationship between husband and wife in contemporary society?

Gratitude, effort, and understanding.

Please explain.

I'm grateful to this era for allowing both men and women

to become independent individuals.

Women no longer need to depend on someone

and their efforts can also be for themselves.

You should motivate yourself to become better,

instead of putting all your hopes onto your husband,

parents, or children.

What about understanding then?

Understanding... is for the one by your side.

Understand him

and trust that when you love him it is true love.

But when problems occur

or if you're no longer in love,

then you also need to have the courage to let go.

That's a great explanation.

Thank you, Ms. Xu, for sharing such insightful opinions with us.

Hey.

You shouldn't tell journalists about letting go and whatnot.

I've already looked into it. Zhou Heng didn't do anything.

Really?

Really. What, you don't trust me?

Let's go.

Why is it so dark?

Is there a power outage?

Maybe the lights are off.

Don't worry, be careful.

Youyi!

Happy birthday!

Mr. Zhou specially prepared everything

just for you!
