going to happen in in the year to come

uh first of all let's meet executive

kic and we have one last person

introduce uh some of you know him as

Captain Hammer

or Captain Malcolm

Reynolds but to me hello he's be Joey

buan and One Life to

Live he's our Rick Castle Nathan fillian

right so we

were

wow we were left with quite a

predicament at the end of last season uh

Becket broke up with her boyfriend and

was about to say something to Castle uh

just before Gina interrupted St could

you please go ahead and tell Nathan what

you were going to

tell Castle

what was on her mind I'm all

ears you know I'd like to defer to the

um writer and executive producer Andrew

Marlo fair

enough hey bud want to grab bur say it

in sexy

voice anything what seriously what uh

what's what's going on with these two

are are they going to maybe hook up this

season what do you think they're already

married secretly Gina secretly married

in the workplace no we're having fun

with the Romantic tension between them

but you know it's clear that each of

them has recognize certain feelings for

the other but you know life presents

lots of obstacles uh so you'll just have

to tune in and see what we have in store

but it'll be fun so I want to ask the

team on the end um I can never quite

figure out if you guys think there's a

secret affair going on or if you just

think that they're like not acting on

their feelings who thinks what I mean uh

what's the theory based on the team uh

the relationship between castle and

Becket I talking I'm talking to the team

yes team we're a team we're a unit

that's how we work uh let's start with

Tamila Jones I think that um Beckett has

finally come to the realization that she

actually digs

Castle a little shy about it and a

little too

late a little

bit or not we never

know uh I think it's I think it's

something interesting because it's a

real example of a very truthful kind of

relationship two people who feel

something but there's missed

opportunities and that happens in life

so many times so I think our writers

Andrew has done a wonderful job about

sort of sussing that out and seeing the

mistakes and the opportunities and they

never quite get to that point where they

admit their true feelings so I think

it's it's kind of fun and uh but I

believe there's something there it's

very intellectual jamus

David I got to follow that I'm gonna say

it simply I think there's uh incredible

sexual attention I think that's what you

guys uh like and that's what I like to

watch I

he's so

handsome it's so weird I thought we had

a moment but I don't know what

happened I'm curious how many of you

have read

Heatwave and so the next one is naked he

comes out September 28th um I thought it

would be fun if you have read Heatwave

there's a scene where castle and Becka

the characters based on him Nikki Heats

uh she hooks up with Castle's um another

version of him tell me his name again

Nathan the character in the book who J

yeah yeah Jameson Rook yes yes yes I

should know I wrote

it exactly you did so I thought it would

be fun if uh Nathan Stana could read a

passage from the

book is that page page 116 what was it

page

106 which one

since there's kids in the audience we

couldn't read that page so we're going

to start with page 104 so

uh wow Please be aware many members of

your audience may be under 18 years of

age all right uh forgive me uh I should

say we changed the name of Nikki Heat to

Catherine just for this exercise thank

you uh just so you know when I read I

move my lips

tentatively

slowly each Drew an inch

closer each still

silent each holding the other's steady

gaze whatever worry or uncertainty or

conflict she'd felt before she'd pushed

it aside as too much

thinking at that moment Catherine Becket

didn't want to think she wanted to

be where was

thanks she reached out and gently

touched his jaw where she had struck him

earlier she Rose up on one knee and lean

forward to him and Rising above him

lightly kissed his

cheek

Kate hovered there studying the play of

Shadows in the candlelight on his face

the soft ends of her hair dangled down

and brushed

him he reached out gently smoothing one

side back lightly stroking her Temple as

he

did

leaning there above him Kate could feel

the warmth from his chest coming up to

meet hers and she inhaled the mild sent

this

the flickering of the candles gave the

room a feeling of motion the way it

looked to Catherine when that plane she

was in flew through a cloud she pressed

herself down to him and he came to meet

her the two of them not so much moving

as drifting weightless toward each

other attracted by some irresistible

force in nature that had no name color

or

taste only

and then what began so gently took on

its own

life they flew to each other locking

open mouths

together Crossing some

[Applause]

[Applause]

line that dared them and they took it

they tasted deeply and touched each

other

with a frenzy of eagerness fired by

Wonder and

[Applause]

craving the two of them released at last

to test the edge of their passion

all

[Applause]

right and to find out what happens next

you buy the

book so uh Andrew uh in the show the the

niiki heat novel has an option for a

film and you have a little treat for us

today don't you uh yes we do uh in in

season 2 of course I mean sorry Season 3

we're going to have to deal with the

fact both uh Becket and castle that the

movie for Heatwave is being made and we

have a little treat for you today that's

the trailer for heat

way on television you're almost a parent

in a way do you ever feel like you're

playing Nathan's

mom well uh Nathan and Castle's mom

actually it happens on set and

off I think Castle's actually a very

great dad it's kind of a partnership I'd

like to say between the two of them

really I once asked Molly cuz we were

hanging out we hang out all the time we

horse around I said am I kind of like a

brother to you she goes more like a

dad he's getting older it's a fact

it's so true syndrome it's so true when

I was starting out I was somebody's son

now I'm someone's

dad Lori might we see um Alexa start

dating this season and how can you

expect Castle to react to that well I I

do think that we might see Alexis dating

and I don't I don't know how Castle's

going to take it I'm I see little

anxiety coming in probably very

well like most fathers teenagers

supported you know one of the fun things

about castle is that he's always pushing

his daughter to take the kind of chances

that he took when he was a kid but then

when she does it he's not so sure he

wants her to do that so we're going to

be having some fun with that this season

now who here has seen the Dr Horrible

vogs well we don't have any of those

videos I'm sorry but uh I was curious

since we know that Nathan can sing who

else in the cast can sing STNA can you

sing who can sing Tamal can you sing or

I'm not going to ask you to sing today

shower singing yes what about doing a

castle musical

thing going

on

S I sing that every morning at the in

the trailer good morning that's how I

say it I love it so I I think we love to

I think it's uh hopefully you guys will

support us on the air it's more of a

fourth or fifth season sort of thing I

have no doubts we have no doubt do we

but but we're hoping to try and find a

karaoke episode coming

up showcase some of the talents the

karaoke killer o oh

what got some alliteration I love it I

could write her credit on

that well Nathan you did tell me that

you're going to introduce your first

killer that is not apprehended in the

fir in the same episode there going to

be kind of a a serial killer would you

say or actually Andrew you told me that

yeah yes Andrew did that'd be closer to

the truth Andrew probably told you

that Nathan on a need to know

basis what's up with this uh this story

line ever well you know we we feel that

uh it's time to challenge castle and

Becket with uh somebody who is uh as

smart as they are and there's a real

element of gamesmanship in the

relationship and uh stay tuned to see

more details but we think it's going to

be uh a really fun ride it's a character

that uh we're hoping pops for the

audience and that we can bring back a

couple

times and can we expect to meet uh

Castle's father at some point there's

kind of a mystery as to who that person

is oh we like playing the mystery so I I

wouldn't say in the immediate future but

we do have plans Nathan if you cast the

role who would play your dad Christopher

me I mean it's

and Laurie where are we with the mystery

as to Beckett's murder of her mother

what's the latest with that was going to

fight over though I'm not sure I think I

have to attest that to injure Marlo

we're all on a need-to-know basis for

imagine suddenly I feel like I'm an oil

executive no we will be this season

dealing with Beckett's mother's murder

and we will be pushing that

investigation downfield a little bit

it's you know it's such a issue of

identity for the character that it's

something that we don't feel we want to

wrap up too quickly but we will be

delving deeper into it and the

conspiracy behind it I feel like I'm

giving all the straight answers Nathan

said something everybody laughs I say

something everybody Andrew please do

your Christopher Walken imitation for us

for that I'll defer to Nathan um Johnny

chambers it seems like there's something

with your character's relationship that

we don't know there's more going on

what would you say that was let's go

what don't we see what don't we see I'm

gonna have to divert that I'm kidding

that's weak slash fiction pages whatever

you read on fan fiction it's not that I

think that uh did the detective Ryan and

detective Esposito have more of a

there are they are brothers okay they

are brother they're like they're like

there's nothing wrong with men being

friends nothing wrong in the world about

it sometimes people are close they share

things otherwise Sharon's closest to

marriage some cops you are digging such

a deep

I think Esposito needs a girlfriend I

think Ryan needs to get married to Jenny

and I think that needs to happen very

soon yeah I think that's true dream

things for us or we're making the shows

that John and Shane have really good

friends as well off screen and so you

know the two of them willing agent

Esposito Ryan like banter up to the

moment the actions called and then

they'll go into the you know the Ryan

Esposito banter right there it's really

fun to watch them we actually basically

just talked the same and then we just

start talking about murder Zac when

actions is called right yeah we're like

brother I think got the relationship

that you don't see on screen we're

brothers we there's an there's an evil

twin he's the one that got good grades I

don't think it's great when I got all

the girls he got one girl I was nerdy if

we woulda met in high school John

probably would have kicked my button

well I mean actually we have some video

footage of mr. characters that you

haven't seen yet one we're gonna go to

your questions now but first on Mirabel

dell'arte in the audience we want to

there's a lot of people let's start with

the first question

this room is double the size this room

is double rainbow what does it mean

I'm for anyone yeah I state the first

question ever all right well I had

plenty of other questions but just

watching guys on the channel there I

thought that maybe I should ask how do

you guys get anything done it's hard

being the only adult on the show

Nathan that's me what you really are a

ruggedly handsome I was just wondering

if we were going to find out more about

either cape or Ric's

childhood or we can see them as kids or

teenagers or who was that be cool like

having a who what we had an episode

where we got to go to a flashback of

like what they've met once as kids but

don't remember right most pigtails on

the cut on it our playground Kate stop

pulling my pigtails

so you guys see all these bodies that's

blood all this stuff do you guys ever

get squeamish is looking at probably

made up no I actually flirt with the

guys that are laying on the slab it's

just syrup so we to us and say that they

want to be a dead bodies on the show but

it's actually a hard gig you gotta lie

on the cold table you gotta have that

thing under your neck and you got a life

still and then when it's time for a take

it's like okay and I'll hold your breath

and then we go through the take and you

know inevitably somebody forgets to tell

them to breathe and action the majority

majority of our are dead people or stuff

you actually hire a stunt person because

did something with the word they're

found they're compromised situations are

hanging from fire escapes turns so out

there in manholes in this cities with

cockroaches crawling over them and

dribbling under their head or the one

where the the woman was hanging in the

girders and it was December and yeah we

were watering her down in between takes

because she's supposed to be melting

she's breeding that's a lot of fun in

December it's December in LA it's not

like

but you had a good time Tom Bergeron had

a really good time dancing about it he

really really dug it my question is when

you are writing the show for specific

episodes do you plan on filming more

than one or two days because of all the

antics and shenanigans that go on with

the cast and crew now we actually have a

pretty rigorous schedule it's it's eight

days for every episode and there's a

point the season where we have a story

being broken one on the board one being

written one in pre-production one in

production and one in post-production

and the train just have to keep running

so you know these guys are really great

they have a lot of fun but when it's

time for action or they're always there

they're always ready it's one of the

best casts I've worked with my question

is more vasana but anyone can answer it

I was wondering what makes the Audion

thing that's important have a character

like Beckett on television because I

think she's truly weak and you don't see

a lot of people in her all the time how

do you feel she was unique well she's I

mean she's flawed but she know she loves

her job and it's just I think it has to

do with all the character development

and who put in and what you bring to it

I'm just wondering what why you think

someone like her be on television

because you don't see the fog girl who

grew up ruffed you know she's just she's

doing something and maybe not living up

to what she could have been had her mom

not dying things like that

yeah I think she's kind of got a little

bit of a female superhero quality which

is really neat you know to have on

television so definitely there's realism

she's not just your standard kind of

detective she's got a wild side that we

keep exploring she's got a real

sensitive

kind of naive side as well which is

beautiful so there's more complexity I

think to her than your average female

detective person one of the things that

Stan and I talked about with the

character he said we wanted to create a

female character that was a little bit

post-feminist so the issue wasn't

proving herself in a man's world inside

the station she just is and it's about

her doing the best possible job that she

can do and I think stan has played that

really beautifully

Nathan since uh you have you and Neil

Patrick Harris have such a great

chemistry of hating each other for Dr

Horrible I was wondering if you were

going to be able to get Neil to come on

and be a nemesis for

Castle uh the only thing holding Neil

back really is his talent

he's got so much that uh first of all

he's full of

himself and he knows

it uh but it keeps him really really

busy so you'll call him up and say hey I

was just calling to see if maybe would

be ever interested in doing an episode

of oh I can't stop now I got a rehearse

for the uh

Oscars right I'll call you

later but uh I got what's your name Leah

Leah I I love your shirt I want to give

you

I think we should issue the Neil Patrick

Harris challenge I think he's scared to

come on the show because of your level

question um do you think we're going to

see more conflict in Alexis and her

dad's relationship as she gain tries to

gain more appendant and learn who she is

and makes mistakes

well answer the question

Molly I think there's a conflict between

Molly and Nathan's relationship you said

enough

listen no go I don't think I think

Alexis you know she respects her dad I

think he respects her I really don't

think that there's going to be much

conflict I really don't see it because

if I want to do something I'll going do

behind his back I

mean well if you think about it every

time he has like a girlfriend over or

anything he always gets Alexis to go

away like hiking or camping Princeton

all those type of things well if Alexis

has a boyfriend couldn't she just do it

when he's at the precinct or you know G

away these are just suggestions sest

suggestions you know Alexa she's a she's

she's growing up and we'll see she's

going to make mistakes

but her dad has a good handle on her and

he'll uh put her in her place if she

gets two out there and we feel Castle's

growing up too and he's bound to make

some mistakes so

that's they're learning

together Andrew I'd like to quickly ask

what about Martha and Chad are we going

to ever meet Chad the off camera

boyfriend uh we will uh uh watch the

first couple episodes oh crap that that

was an excellent question come on up I

wanted you to get this no that was that

was someone else oh that was someone

else who who who asked that question I

want you to have this it's my uh sci-fi

well we we enjoy having fun with our

cast so when it's a when it's

appropriate you know one of the things

we loved about that episode is that we

got to really honor everybody's uh past

uh past experiences but we do owe Stana

an episode where she can dress up as her

character from the

hi my question is for Nathan um I'm

studing to be an actress and I just want

to say I really look up to you as an

actor you're one of my favorite actors

ever I don't think we'll be up for the

same Parts though so you're good no she

looks up to you because you're so tall

gotcha um I was wondering what guy you

interested in acting uh when I was in

fifth grade uh I moved to a new school I

was always very shy kid uh but I was in

a 56 I know right I was in a 56 uh split

there was five grade five kids in in a

sixth grade classroom um and I one of my

friends was the class clown his name was

cam German and uh uh he was sick one day

so I filled

in and I and I started to understand the

value of uh

of the spotlight and and a certain

amount of uh being on the spot and kind

of having a fun time and you know not

being mean but you know having fun um so

that kind of started my interest and

then you know people can jump out of a

plane and get that Adrenaline Rush

that's too much adrenaline for

me being up in front of people in

theater doing stage that was my start

that was enough adrenaline for me to get

me interested and get me excited about

it and now I just I just get off on

doing a great job telling great stories

having great dialogue working with great

people and having a great time full on

double

brain come on up here

next so I was just curious um are there

any thoughts or plans for video game

maybe voiced by the whole cast

there'd be like a little meter in the

side as to how much Castle pisses people

are and if it goes too high you get kind

of kicked out of the mystery a little

bit you get sent home you got to deal

with your

daughter I'll deal with

you uh we we don't have any plans yet

cuz we haven't figured it

out work on Okay so so whenever it comes

to like the Firefly and the Halloween

episode and all that sort of stuff where

and the stop Time episode don't think I

didn't see that one how many of those

Nathan did you suggest and how many did

the writers just uh say hey this sh

would be fun let's do

this you mean the Winks the nods the

nudges to Firefly whatnot yeah um well I

mean it's so wonderful in meta like

every we understand it's a television

program and our writers understand you

know full well the same I think it's so

clever and meta clever the way they nod

and nudge and wink and let everybody

know oh this is all the characters they

all played in their previous shows

Kill so those things are all very clever

but on my own I will sometimes you know

I I threw in the catalyzer uh from

Firefly put it on the

bookshelf

um and the first time uh Castle got to

put on some blue gloves I just did

the little you know who cares who cares

someone catches it someone

doesn't excellent question sir before

since Nathan's handing out gifts I'd

like to ask you a

question yes I'm going to miss those

you don't how many both watch me when

you start giving out your clothes your

shirt I'd like to mention that we got a

lot of thank god Molly I love that you

full-on double rainbow me I agree

hi my question is you guys seem like a

really fun cast I was wondering if

there's any pranks you guys have ever

played on set Nathan yes Tonto you start

yours was the best you know we we had an

episode coming up and we were in the

makeup and hair trailer and somebody

said something about doing a striptease

with detective Esposito and detective

Ryan and Shay was really latched on to

that

so someone went and talked to props and

to costumes and to makeup fan to hair to

talk about things like maybe suggesting

to Sheamus manscaping and getting a

fitting

a g-string and but cuffs and things like

this and porch am is decided to go on an

extra extra heavy-duty diet that day

until we finish it off with this really

fabulous long underwear presentation

that said on the front kiss me I'm Irish

and then on the back had said love the

cast and crew Castle Seamus is a

vegetarian he was on a very restrictive

diet in the first place for a vegetarian

and then went on an incredibly more

restrictive diet for days it was good

they got me good they got me good I

admitted the best part was though the

acting skills of all the crew that were

in on the joke I have to say we got to

see them that day our head of props are

on set prop guy was an amazing actor

that day because I believed every word

that was easy a every time Seamus would

try to come over and talk to me I just

disappeared so he assumed that I was

doing this damn check check check this

might be redundant but I got you a

double rainbow maker cuz it Ringo sure

there you go hang on it

hi there a longtime listener first-time

I love the scene where I loved when

Castle went undercover to do the

underground poker game and Beckett can

you come in and save him

will there be any more undercover work

like that yes but this time for Lanie

we're gonna start playing some castle

Lanie the detective Esposito might get

upset about though he won't know I'm in

detective never mind that

I loved the episode then had these

Stephen King shout out because he is my

favorite author after Richard Castle and

I was curious Nathan and the rest of the

cast who do you read who are your

favorite authors I just got finished

with that girl the Dragon Tattoo trilogy

oh my god I really enjoyed it but books

I've been reading over and over again

for the past year and a half to two

years World War Z by Max Brooks stuff of

nightmares instruments II was not ready

you have to read it Clary Fray all the

way best book series besides Lord of the

Rings I was reading this summer as for

research into sociopaths I was reading

the Ripley series by Pete Iseman very

good

a little bit of class I was bringing a

book by Luis Rodriguez called a livin la

vida loca always running it's a book

about an ex-gang bangers now I'm amazing

off

he's trying to keep kids out of gangs to

whose own and he lost his own sons again

so I just want to pick the room a little

bit

I really love this book called Master

and Margarita it's just they're so

amazing it's so fantastic it's by

Bulgakov a lot of castle scripts I'm not

in the cast but I ii need nuns dig

lorrison books awfully fantastic

that's a good question I will give you

this as I am it's my name Tech on the

super panel exhibit hall doing a charity

stuff for I all right

very nice

he's got SARS quickly go in the exhibit

hall visit there's a brown coats boots I

love the brown coat so they're doing to

think for kids need to read a very

charitable for kids if you have a chance

swing on by their nine head of a buck

yeah question is for Andrews and

signally asked one question about the

entire cast

how did just there's so many dynamics of

when two people live together words

Nathan and Molly where's Tamala and

standouts Tana and Nathan the God is

just such amazing just two person

dialogue of his buddies these people

that come together whether it's conflict

friendship whatever how do you just keep

it going it's is one most amazingly

rewatchable series over and over and

over it never gets old it only gets

better upon watching everybody love you

the island is popping these people real

well first thanks so much second you

know assembling this cast was a was a

real joy you know we knew early on that

we wanted Nathan and when we went with

him he said look I am this guy I can do

this and he read with something like 125

actresses and stuff I really popped and

really popped opposite him and you know

there was a chemistry there that we feel

like we captured and then we look to

capture that with the rest of the cast

when we brought people in look these

guys are great actors and they can play

chemistry but but they have it and we

have a really good time on set and we

have some really really talented writers

we'd like to challenge ourselves Rob

Bowman who couldn't eat her today is our

director executive producer thank you oh

let him know he really wanted to be down

here but some personal issues kept them

away and and you know we push the look

of the show when we push the dialogue

and we have the philosophy that you know

we're trying to make television that

looks like feature films as opposed to

Judd Apatow is trying to make feature

films look like television

but but we really we really push and we

really we really push we really just try

and try make the best show possible and

part of it is it where we're fans of

television and we just want to do the

best work we can thank you very much
