Im always glad for any opportunity to spend time alone

I mean, its gonna be a while before trick-or-treat time

rolls around again.

>> Douglas: Will we still be living here with you and Grandpa

I would love to have a little boy running around the house

again.

And wed love to have your daddy here, too.

Hope she never loses you like I lost my mom.

>> Hope: [ Sighs ] Everyone at work was asking

about Thomas and Douglas.

[ Sniffles ] You know, how theyre doing,

what their plans are.

>> Liam: You mean if theyre staying in L.A.?

>> Hope: Yeah.

I mean, I know Thomas is in no rush to head back to New York.

He needs his family, their support.

Plus were all here to help out with Douglas.

>> Liam: Yeah. I mean, I -- I feel bad for Karen and Dani.

Its got to be hard for them to be separated from their

daughters little boy.

>> Hope: Well, I mean, Mom says they video chat every night, and

Douglas really enjoys hearing from them, but hes also really

liked being back here.

Uh, speaking of, have you seen Douglas or Thomas around today?

>> Liam: Uh...

Unh-uh. Why?

>> Hope: I just thought you might see them out and about

on the grounds.

Youre still thinking about the other day, arent you?

When Douglas asked you to be his mom.

Well, what do you want to do?

>> Douglas: Could I go see Hope?

>> Brooke: Well, I think she went to work today.

But maybe shes back.

>> Douglas: I like Hope.

>> Thomas: Well, I think the feelings mutual, bud.

I think Hope likes you.

Actually, I know it.

She likes you a lot.

>> Liam: Its crazy to think Douglas actually asked you.

Like, he asked you to be his mother.

>> Hope: Honestly, I wasnt sure the best way to handle it.

I just tried to reassure him.

Let him know that even though his mother isnt here in the

same way that she was before, that shes still watching out

for him and loving him.

And, you know, that all the things that she cant do

for him now, I would try my very best to do.

I mean, um, not that anyone would ever replace his mom.

>> Liam: Of course not.

>> Hope: I just...

look into his eyes, and...

Its kind of like we understand each other.

He lost his mother, and we lost Beth, and...

We share a connection even beyond this shared sense of

grief.

I -- I dont know.

Its hard to put into words.

But its there.

And I think Douglas feels it, too.

>> Donna: All right.

[ Stammers ] That sounds like

>> Katie: Huh.

>> Bill: I mean, I know you, you know.

>> Katie: [ Chuckles ] We do need to figure out who

And we just, uh, enjoy each others company.

>> Liam: But I also want to be a little cautious where your

feelings are concerned.

I mean, its not that long ago that you lo-- you lost --

But this is about a boy in need.

do everything we can to help him through it.

>> Douglas: The Flash is a superhero.

>> Thomas: Oh, yeah.

>> Hope: [ Chuckles ] >> Thomas: My son is way into

What a coincidence!

Douglas is my favorite superhero, too.

Whyd she have to go?

>> Hope: Um...

You know, Douglas, um...

its sad to lose someone that you love.

And its hard for them to leave and go to heaven so soon.

You know, I dont think there is a good answer as to why.

But I do know something.

Something really, really special.

And that is that a mothers love never, ever goes away.

So her love for you and your love for her will live on

forever and ever in here, in your heart.

Because when you love someone, you always carry a part of them

with you.
