The unrest in East Helsinki
erupted into a full-scale riot.

Firearms were used
and at least one person has died.

The police were attacked with shock
weapons and Molotov cocktails.

A group of youths threw stones at
the authorities, used fireworks -

and burned vehicles.

Police units remain in the area and
several people have been apprehended.

In the morning, there was still smoke
coming from the burned cars.

The Helsinki police spokesperson
has not commented on the incident.
