how to manipulate people for good
so this is a series I'm doing as a psychologist
and again we're saying for good
and one of the ways that we can help people change
is to actually focus on ourselves
so what I mean by this
is that people don't change for people that they don't respect
uh people are more likely to change for somebody that they respect
they value and they admire
we tend to take the opinions of people we respect
a lot more seriously than the opinions of people we don't respect
so one of the ways that you can ensure others follow you
is to make sure that you focus on yourself
on building up your own interests successes
meeting your own goals having your own life
and not over relying on the admiration or um
approval of other people because this is not something we tend to respect
so we tend to respect people that have an inner confidence
and don't need to seek external approval from others
and so if you wanna influence others
it's actually a lot more effective to change yourself
because changing other people is really hard
and if it wasn't I wouldn't have a job
