[Episode 10]

Since then,

we haven't seen each other.

Xu Ou went to the United States.

My life went back to normal

as if nothing had happened.

One day, Fei Ke suddenly added me on WeChat.

I think he found me through my phone number.

We just sent good wishes for festivals and holidays.

And through his Moments,

I saw that his life was getting better and better.

Until he suddenly invited me to his wedding.

I thought the wedding would be the end.

He would disappear from my life forever.

I didn't expect in less than two years,

someone would come to me because of him.

I'm Liu Mo.

Hello, He Shan from "Quanzai Times" magazine.

I received your email,

but what you said was very vague.

So I might be too direct.

When you say ''inside information'',

what exactly do you mean?

And how much do you intend to charge for it?

Do you want me to hide your identity

and name?

You don't mind recording, right?

We'll do the sound processing. Don't worry.

Let's get started.

Do you know Fei Ke?

We're not in touch. What's wrong?

What about Li Zerui?

What are you trying to say?

You and he are both from the 2005 class of Huishan No.1 High School.

And you're the only one

he invited to his wedding.

You must've known each other for over ten years.

Where is he?

Sorry, I don't know.

Fei Ke has deceived many people,

involving probably hundreds of millions of money,

and even caused someone's death.

Who?

His wife, Chen Jiajia.

[Chen Jiajia, Welcome Home!] Ms. Chen Jiajia.

Welcome home.

I'm your father's driver.

He asked me to pick you up.

Why doesn't he come himself?

Mr. Chen has an important meeting

and asked me to take you to the clubhouse.

The meal has been arranged.

I'm not going.

I want to eat at the seafood stall.

Leave it to me.

Drive me to Long's.

Long's?

From that day on, I drove for Chen Jiajia.

Let's go.

Check this out.

Back to the UK?

To Singapore.

Don't move. Wait for me here.

Your suitcase!

Wait for me here.

No parking is allowed here.

Let's go.

[Yuewan International Airport]

Ms. Chen, why aren't you going?

Liu Mo,

let me ask you a question.

[Dad, I'm boarding now.] You're with me

or with my dad?

Your dad is my boss.

Then open the door.

I'll take a cab.

I'm with you.

My dad asked me to go to Singapore for matchmaking.

I'm not going.

Going all the way to Singapore for matchmaking?

I can travel on the way.

My dad said a friend's son is in graduate school there.

He kept asking me to go.

I'm not going.

Well, if he can't pick you up,

he'll call your dad.

You think he wants to see me?

He has a girlfriend,

but he doesn't dare tell his parents.

Well, how long are you going to fool him?

Two weeks.

That's a long time. How can you fool him?

Why can't I fool him?

My dad is so dumb.

Which hotel should I take you to?

No way.

If I swipe my card,

my dad will be notified.

Let's go to your home first.

My home?

Let's go.

No need to change shoes.

Your house is very Southern-style.

It's been built by an overseas Chinese.

It's over 100 years.

I have an idea.

I'll remodel your place

and turn it into a Singaporean B&B.

Then I can video call my dad.

I'll be able to fool him.

Do you have any money? Lend me some.

Money?

Get me some cash. I need a hotel room.

What?

You really want me to stay at your home?

Okay.

I'll book you a room on Ctrip.

Sure.

Look, hotels in this neighborhood are quite nice.

You need to live a finer life.

Watch there. Be careful.

Liu Mo.

Hurry...

Hurry...

I'm tired of it.

I'm at this Singaporean B&B.

She came to my house every day for two weeks

to video call Mr. Chen.

We were so naive that we thought we could hide it.

I'm sorry...

Alright. I'm hanging up now. Bye.

What's this?

What are you doing?

Who has such a big face?

Look.

Let me do it.

Fine... I didn't drink today...

Well, rest early when you're done.

- Take care of yourself. - I know.

Dad, I'm going to bed.

I'll go to sleep, too.

Bye.

Bye.

[I found someone I like.]

Liu Mo, take me to K1.

Hey, pretty girl. Add me on WeChat.

Rock, paper, scissors.

Rock, paper, scissors.

Give me one.

Beauty, have a drink.

I don't want to drink.

What are you doing? I don't.

What's wrong with you?

Don't be shy.

I don't want it.

- No. I said no. - Just take a sip.

Go away.

I said no. Go away.

What's wrong with you?

Alright...

He's drunk.

Harassing a girl. What do you mean?

He's drunk. Go back...

Alright...

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry. He's drunk.

I beg your pardon.

Are you alright?

Do you want some water?

Slow down...

Where's your room key?

I'll check your bag.

In your pocket?

I'll get it.

Get Jiajia up and come with me.

Meet me in the morning.

How many years have you been working for me?

Almost five years.

Are you happy?

Yes, I am.

How much do you get a month?

Eight thousand.

Are you satisfied?

Yes, I am.

It's enough.

Mr. Chen,

about last night...

Don't mention that.

Jiajia must have forced you

to fool me, right?

Here's the thing.

A friend of mine is also in business.

He needs an assistant

to run errands,

check emails,

and organize contracts.

I thought you'd be a good fit,

so I introduced you to him.

I'm afraid I'm not qualified.

I'd rather drive.

Don't underestimate him.

He's very powerful.

You're not too young.

Office work is nice. You'll get ahead.

You can't drive forever, right?

You have to make money and get married.

It's settled.

Here's his business card.

Tell him I introduced you.

Go.

Mr. Chen, I don't want to go.

I must be honest with you.

I like Chen Jiajia.

I asked you to watch and protect her.

What did you do?

She was drunk.

How many times have I told you?

I told you to keep an eye on her and keep her from drinking.

But you fooled me and took advantage of her.

How did I treat you?

You heartless scoundrel!

Mr. Chen,

give me a chance.

I've been working for you for five years.

You've always taken care of me

and treated me like your family.

I think you know my character.

I thought about it all night yesterday.

I really like Jiajia.

Take a piss and look at yourself.

Do you deserve her?

Get out of here. Don't ever let me see you again.

The farther, the better.

I've never bowed down,

but I apologize to you today.

Think it over. You're not well-matched.

You two won't get anywhere.

If you really care about Jiajia,

give up.

Take whatever you want.

Mr. Chen,

I don't want money.

Don't worry.

I'll never see Jiajia again.

Thank you for taking care of me for the past five years.

Mr. Chen,

take care.

Where's Liu Mo?

Resigned.

You call him.

He's not answering my calls.

He's probably driving.

In a job like this, it's common not to answer calls.

You get him back.

He's already left Chengjiang.

I've arranged for Luo to be your driver.

You'll never see him again.

Whose blood is this?

It's easy to forget someone.

You're not young anymore.

I'll find you someone suitable for you to marry.

Liu Mo.

Liu Mo.

Liu Mo, get out.

Liu Mo.

Liu Mo.

Liu Mo.

Liu Mo, answer my call.

What are you doing? Answer my call.

The pain of choosing him must

be far greater than the pain of marrying Fei Ke.

- Dad, I'm begging you. - It's settled.

Listen, you'll thank me later.

You can't forget him

because you're out of your mind.

He's got you under his spell.

I'm doing this for your own good.

A few months later,

Jiajia got engaged.

I heard her fiancé is a wonderful man.

I was jealous

and curious.

I used to be Mr. Chen's driver.

If Ms. Chen wants to eat Long's,

add more Hainan chili sauce

and squeeze two small limes.

I see.

In summer,

she'd turn down the air-conditioning.

You quietly turn it up.

Anything else?

Nothing.

I wish you happiness.

Thank you.

Right.

Don't tell her I was here.

Thank you.

Actually,

Fei Ke and I have been putting on an act.

I never allowed him to touch me at all.

You forced me to do this, you know?

Where are you going?

I'm going to find Liu Mo.

He works in Shaling as a ride-hailing driver.

I have his new number.

Don't go.

Get back.

[Chen Jiajia]

[Chen Jiajia]

Jiajia.

Jiajia, stop the car.

Do you want to die?

This evening,

a woman driving a Porsche

was involved in a car accident near the S21 exit

of the Chengsha Freeway.

Relevant departments quickly rushed to the site

for rescue and emergency treatment.

According to rescue workers,

the driver, Ms. Chen,

has been transferred to the hospital for rescue.

The preliminary opinion

is that the accident was caused by speeding.

The exact cause of the accident

is under further investigation.

- Quiet, please. - Make a move...

Calm down.

- How's Jiajia? - Are you her family member?

How's she?

Are you her family member?

How's Jiajia?

Let me see her.

Mr. Chen, let me see Ms. Chen.

Jiajia is gone.

It's Fei Ke's fault.

He has ruined my family.

Where's Fei Ke?

He's missing.

It's impossible.

It's impossible.

I'm sure I'll find him.

I have to find him.

I must find him and avenge Jiajia.

I'll find him.

I'll find him.

I'll find him.

You go to find him.

I'll dig him up.

This room is for you.

I'll give you cars, money, labor,

whatever you want.

Even if you turn over every rock,

you need

to dig Fei Ke up for me.

I want to know who he is,

why he did it,

and if he has any accomplices.

You won't let him go, right?

I'll find him.

[Li Zerui] Fei Ke's real name is Li Zerui.

He's from Huishan.

He has nothing to do with Mr. Li, the Deputy Director-General.

He did win a gold medal in the Olympiad in high school.

Then he helped his half-brother take the exam

and was banned from the exam for five years.

He used a total of seven phone numbers.

In 2015,

Fei Ke frequently contacted a woman named Su Qian.

She's Wylon Medical's financial director,

also Zhao Xiaoyang's wife.

Also, in 2015,

Fei Ke stayed at the home of a man named Cheng Hao.

He had a girlfriend, Zhang Xuan,

who now works as a relationship manager at a medical aesthetics clinic.

[He Shan] There is another suspicious person.

They haven't contacted each other

since 2007,

but she was the only classmate

who showed up at Fei Ke's wedding.

[He Shan]

They can call the police.

They didn't.

Why?

I want to know, too.

Chen Shufa doesn't want Fei Ke to get punished by law.

He wants Fei Ke to die.

Why did he choose me?

Because I hate Fei Ke, too.

So what are you going to do?

Help him?

We have to find Fei Ke

before Chen Shufa does.

Like what He Shan said,

no matter how big a crime Fei Ke has committed,

no matter how bad you all hate him,

it should be the law that punishes him,

not lynching.

I've been working for Mr. Chen for about five years.

He's always treated me well,

like his own family.

So I'm not saving Fei Ke.

I'm saving you,

Mr. Chen.

I visited many of Fei Ke's friends and classmates.

I went through the social accounts of each of you,

downloaded every photo,

and compared it to Fei Ke's Moments to make a timeline.

Then, I figured out how he had been cheating for the past few years.

What does that have to do with me?

I'm not like the rest of them.

It's my idea.

You probably don't remember.

We had dinner once.

Wish you wealth and prosperity...

Long time no see.

I'm sorry...

Come... Take a seat.

Xuan'er is a top-school student.

Which college did you graduate from?

From Chengjiang University.

Chengjiang University.

So you know a guy named Fei Ke?

We're buddies.

We used to hang out in college,

but we haven't kept in touch in years.

What's he like?

I don't know.

You said you used to hang out together.

Why don't you know him anymore?

I don't remember.

Let's drink.

Come...

One drink for being late.

One for being late...

There you go.

Why did he call you?

Why did he call you?

I want to hear your voice.

Only when I hear your voice,

I feel like I'm back

to my 18-year-old at Huishan No.1 High School,

to my clean,

carefree self.

Only when I see you

can I be me.

Can you come?

I have something I'd like to give you.

[Yuewan to Suvarna]

Help, somebody, help!

Call an ambulance, please.

From the USB Fei Ke slipped me,

I found his diary.

In it, he recorded

what happened between him and each of you.

Fei Ke has been kidnapped.

Are you sure?

I saw him being pulled away in that car.

Industrial salt poisoning. His stomach was pumped.

He was saved.

So where is he now?

Chen Shufa hid him

and didn't reveal any information to me.

He just told me

to ask these people to go to Chong'an Island at the same time

and release the news that Fei Ke is dead

so they'll show up.

No, we have to stop him.

I can't believe the last step of our mission

is to save Fei Ke's life

from Mr. Chen's hands.

We want to save everyone, too.

We don't want to let Fei Ke go.

We want to hand him over to the law.

I have one last question.

was it you who reported me?

On the 6th and 7th of this month,

did you see Li Zerui

at the exam site

of Huishan No.10 High School?

What happened to him?

We suspect he's a surrogate exam-taker.

Recall your memories.

Yes.

He went with his brother, Li Zetian.

If it was my honesty that hurt you,

then I won't apologize.

But over the years,

I often blame myself.

If I had come forward ten years ago

and said your name wasn't Fei Ke,

and you weren't a student at Chengjiang University,

would you still be like this?

You probably wouldn't have gotten caught up in the lies.

You don't love money.

You're not even vain.

You just don't trust anyone anymore.

You're proving yourself in your own way,

fighting off your imaginary enemies.

You're afraid of being lied to,

of being let down.

You hate being used and manipulated.

Once someone wants to take advantage of you,

you'll use your way

to retaliate hundreds or thousands of times over.

You've never spent any of this money.

And these numbers are just your scores.

Without college, a career,

and worldly success,

you can't prove yourself

and feel a real sense of being.

But Li Zerui,

life isn't a race.

Life has no gold medals.

I often feel guilty.

I believed you.

I believed you when you said you wanted

to study hard and sneak back

to Chengjiang University to finish college once,

so I took pity on you.

I actually harmed everyone on board.

That's why I have to do something

to remedy the situation as much as possible.

I must find out the truth.

I must find you.

I wish you were the one who reported me.

He Shan,

thank you.

I've not only lied to you,

I've let myself down.

But it's too late for that now.

I'm not asking you to let me go.

I've been living in fear for the past ten years.

I've pursued fame,

status,

money, and dignity.

It's exhausting.

Aren't you exhausted?

Let's go back.

Let's go back together

to where I belong.

At least do one thing right in our lives.

Don't make any more mistakes.

I've been diagnosed with terminal liver cancer.

I won't live for six months.

Before I die,

I must take you with me.

I've already adjusted the cruising direction.

The boat is heading back.

Yacht ahead, dock immediately.

Here...

Over here.

Come and save us. We're here.

Over here.

Help.

Over here.

He Shan.

Over here.

Help.

Over here.

Over here.

Fei Ke!

The principal is five million.

The Mathematics School, class of 2006.

The Material School, Chengjiang University.

No one can control me.

Get out.

What are you doing here?

Leave.

Lie down. You're very weak.

You can't take off this oxygen mask.

You can't walk now.

You're still weak, Ms. He.

You can't go, Ms. He.

You're still weak.

Ms. He.

Fei Ke.

Where's Fei Ke?

The deceased is male,

around 30 years old,

1.83 meters tall, identity is unknown.

Li Zerui.

His name is Li Zerui.

[Did I really die without regrets?]

[He constantly wondered if there was still a possibility to change his life.]

[His mind, which was already relieved and calm, rippled again.]
