Original subtitles

Mom, let's go, come on,

Alison, don't go too far,

Mom, I'm fine,

Are you glad you have

your walking stick?

What are you

trying to say

about your mom?

Nothing,

Just saying that

she enjoys her walking stick,

Mom, hurry up, let's go,

It's not that big of a hike,

Alison, don't go too far,

Mom, I'm fine,

Alison!

( screaming )

Mom, please!

Hold on, I'm coming,

I'm coming,

Alison!

Alison! Help!

Somebody help me!

Honey, are you okay?

Wake up, baby, wake up,

Oh, come on, baby,

Wake up,

Help!

Somebody help me!

Here, let me help you,

Oh, my god, thank you,

We got to get her out of here,

We got to get help,

I'll watch her, You go,

I was an army medic,

I know what I'm doing, Go,

My god, is she going to...

She's going to be fine,

but you've got to go, now,

Trust me,

That was a nasty fall you took,

Did you see that?

Jesus Christ,

They say seeing is believing,

( control voice )

There

but the True question is

what do you believe you've seen?

You can see why I wanted you

to explain this,

Either this is a hoax,

or something amazing happened,

She was just

knocked unconscious,

What about you, honey?

Remember Anything funny

happening?

Do you think

he brought you

back to life?

Uh-huh,

Tell me what you remember,

I remember

I was, like, falling,

and then, ,,

I saw this bright light

and I felt like

I was going towards it,

And the light got bigger

and brighter,

then there was this blue light,

and it got really bright too,

And then this man

stepped out of it,

He smiled,

and when I opened up my eyes, ,,

I saw Josh,

And what did this man look like?

Like an Angel,

You think you saw an Angel?

What else could it have been?

God does move

in mysterious ways,

but who are we to understand

the mysteries of god?

Todd?

Todd?

Um, find out everything you can

on this guy, Josh Butler,

And get us a car,

And call Braxton

At Clark Air force Base

to see if he's looked at

the copy of the video I sent him

and if he hasn't, tell him

I'm going to kick his ass,

Does this mean we get our check?

You may want to frame this,

Come on,

Coming,

We rolling?

The little red light says yes,

Mr, Butler, hi,

I'm Judy Warren from hot topic,

I'd like to ask you

about that girl you raised

from the dead, Alison James,

I didn't raise anybody

from the dead,

She says she saw a blue light

and a man who looked like you,

Look, I'd be happy

to talk to you,

but I don't want to do it

on camera,

Why not?

It doesn't bite,

Maybe not, but I've seen

your show, and you do,

Okay,

No camera, ,,for now,

Todd, you're leaving now,

I'm, I'm leaving now?

You got it,

I'm a leaving kind of guy,

You wouldn't have

any coffee, would you?

Sure, Come on in,

Thank you,

So what were you doing

in the ravine

when Alison fell?

I was taking a hike,

And then you saw her fall

and she died

and, ,,

and you brought her

back to life,

No,

She was just knocked

unconscious,

A little beat up and bloody,

but she wasn't dead,

She was very lucky,

Besides making

a great cup of coffee,

what do you do for a living?

I'm a social worker,

I run a small, I guess

you could call it, center,

down in utah,

I work with the poor,

the homeless,

try to get them

on their feet again,

Give them direction and hope,

Like what you did with Alison

a couple days ago?

You know, according to

my homework, you don't exist,

For the past three years,

you've been the head

of the Arnold Freeman

help center,

But before that, nothing,

All your references

conveniently moved or dead,

And that army medic line

you gave Alison's mother,

Well, uncle Sam has

no record of you either,

So, ,,who are you really?

I know you're really digging

for a story here,

I understand that,

But there just isn't one,

What are you trying to hide?

I know it really hurt

when your, your father

left you and your mom,

You felt abandoned and betrayed,

And then when

your mom remarried,

you felt betrayed then, too,

It was no longer

just you and her

against the world

like she promised,

So now you're suspicious

of everyone,

But that doesn't mean

that everyone is suspicious,

Some people are just, ,,

private,

How do you know This

about my parents?

I read your mind,

Plus I read your interview

in

people

two years ago,

You really are a tricky one,

Look, the truth is, ,,

I said this was off the record,

Goodbye, miss Warren,

That's my personal property,

Cost me 158 bucks,

Thanks,

Oh, I almost forgot,

I have a tape

of you healing Alison

with a blue light

coming out of your hands,

How do you explain that?

It's running as the lead story

tomorrow night,

What are you talking about?

Hot topic,

the story of you saving Alison,

It's a fake,

Somebody added light so that

they could sell it to

hot topic,

That's what I thought too,

but then what about her arm?

I popped it back in...

It was a dislocation,

That's not what the doctor said,

I showed it to

three different doctors,

anal compulsive that I am,

and they all said

the same thing,

Due to the unnatural position

of Alison's arm in the video,

it had been broken

in one, if not two places,

And when Alison's mom

took her in for x-Rays

they showed that her arm

had been broken

in two places recently,

but then it had healed,

Kind of sort of miraculous,

don't you think?

Any comments now?

What can I say?

It's a fake,

Fine,

So, did he show you his wings?

Let me see what we got,

There's a slight hitch,

because the tape is Blank,

I thought you said

we were rolling,

Yeah, but there's nothing on it,

Maybe he could heal it,

Very funny,

Great,

There's nothing

on my pen cam either,

Okay, that's creepy,

This will either be

the biggest story

of the millennium

or the world's greatest hoax,

Either way, we're going

to make some news,

Give me the other camera,

Say please,

This one better work,

Oh, you got to have faith, Jude,

Faith, schmaith, I need video,

Or better video than you got,

I'd fire you if I didn't enjoy

torturing you so much,

You discuss this

with your shrink?

Hell, no, I talk about ratings,

Hey, it's working,

He's making a run for it,

Damn!

Get your stuff, come on,

Jude, look at his cabin,

Todd! Come on!

I'm right here, Stop yelling,

Come on, we got

to get to the car,

Jude, this is stupid,

Obviously this guy's insane,

Maybe he has a gun or something,

This is the only road

heading west

for the next 50 miles,

We're going to be famous!

Or dead!

( phone ringing )

Leave me alone,

( Judy )

You nearly killed me

back there,

Sorry,

You shouldn't have

spied on me,

That doesn't mean

you can kill me,

I said I was sorry,

So where are you going?

I'm going home,

Is that some other place

you plan to blow up?

Listen, for all our sakes,

just let me go,

Mr, Butler, you don't get it,

Once you're news,

there's nowhere you can run,

Damn!

( knocking )

Hello?

Anybody here?

Anybody here?

Come on,

can't you go any faster?

I don't want to get killed,

We're not going to get killed,

Look out!

You see?

Nobody can outrun the news,

I forgive you,

What?

It's not all that bad,

( car approaching )

Oh, yes it is,

Freeze!

U, S, Air force,

Show your hands, Nobody move,

Unless you want a tape

of Josh the wonder boy

raising a little girl

from the dead

to be shown on

hot topic

tomorrow night,

I suggest you let me stay,

otherwise the excrement

is going to hit the fan,

Don't threaten me, Ms, Warren,

Josh Butler is

a potential danger

to the United States,

It's my job to contain

and evaluate that danger

and if necessary, eliminate it,

That's why you brought us here

to camp runamuck?

What the hell is

this place anyway?

Legacy of the cold war,

It's an abandoned air base,

Top secret, no doubt,

Your favorite kind,

All this because

he blew up a cabin?

A few days ago,

air force Satellites picked up

an electromagnetic pulse

at 10:18 a, M,

That nearly knocked them

out of the sky,

It came from a certain ravine,

Yesterday you sent the tape to

Clark air base for evaluation,

It showed Alison James

being revived by Josh Butler

at 10:18 a, M,

In that same ravine...

Gold Mountain national Park

in alaska,

Are you getting my drift?

Are you saying Josh

gave off that pulse?

Those satellites orbit

at 20,000 miles,

Each is hardened against

Nuclear Magnetic pulse attack,

Tonight, two were killed,

one was severely damaged,

from a pulse centered

at Josh Butler's cabin,

What kind of man could do that?

So we were exposed

to nuclear radiation?

You were exposed to something,

Then why aren't we dead?

I don't know,

but I'm going to find out,

Now strip,

Oh, general,

I've got the results

on Josh Butler,

They say anything?

No,

But according to

some preliminary tests,

everything about him is average,

or should I say,

perfectly average...

Height, weight,

blood pressure, cholesterol...

You name it,

he's right on the money,

It's like opening a textbook,

What are you saying?

It's unnatural to be

this perfect, ,,it's inhuman,

It goes beyond

statistical anomaly,

He asked to speak to ms, Warren,

All right,

I'll see you in there,

This will make

an incredible story,

Jude, they will not let us

tell this story,

How will they stop us?

They'll arrest us,

throw us in prison,

The point is,

these guys are bad news,

Warren, he's asked

to speak with you,

That must really hurt,

Don't worry,

I'll mention you

in my Emmy speech,

Just you, Ms, Warren,

This is not radio here, general,

It's called television,

We do this stuff with pictures,

I will say this one last time,

This is a matter

of national security,

not an opportunity for you

to advance yourself,

You don't talk about

anything here

unless I say otherwise,

What about freedom of the press?

We have a problem here,

A lot of smart people are

working on it,

You don't want to become

another problem for me,

This storm's going to last

about another 12 hours,

I don't know where it came from,

but as soon as it's gone,

so are you,

I'll just stay here,

( thunder )

What are you doing to him?

All we've done is

given him a physical so far,

So far?

What's next, vivisection?

Until we finish testing him,

Mr, Butler is not going

anywhere,

He is too much of a risk,

But look what

you're doing to him,

You want to talk to him or not?

You just can't do that

to somebody,

Major, would you please

remove Miss Warren?

Okay, okay, okay,

( door opening,

buzzer sounding )

if you just cooperate,

Mr, Butler,

things will go easier,

Let me go,

What did you want

to talk to me about?

I have to leave here

before the storm ends,

Why?

I just have to,

Why don't you blast out of here

like you did at the cabin?

Though I'd appreciate it

if you'd at least let me

get out of range first,

I can't,

That's not why I'm here,

Why are you here, Mr, Butler?

You got me into this,

Don't you think

you should get me out?

It's your choice,

I can't,

Ms, Warren,

I'm really sorry about this,

I know,

It's just some barium Dye,

It won't hurt you,

Captain Marquez,

Thank you,

Showtime,

Let's see what's inside him,

5,8,, ,

7,9,

Not getting any readings,

Keep going,

Scan level is, ,,

10,2,

No readings,

Increasing intensity,

13,1 and still nothing,

Continue scanning, colonel,

14,3,

15,8,

We're exceeding

safe limits, ,,16,

You're killing him,

Quiet, Ms, Warren,

Dios mio,

16,9,

General, I really don't think...

Keep going,

Stop it,

Can't you see what you're doing?

Still nothing on scanner,

17,4,

You're crazy,

You're killing him,

Sir, we don't want

the subject to expire,

( general )

Where are his vitals?

He's dying, you idiot!

Major, remove Ms, Warren,

Still reading normal... 18,1,

( yelling )

Sir!

Should I remove you too,

captain?

Please Stop this!

19,

I can't see,

Neither can I,

According to this,

nothing happened at the moment

of the light explosion,

That's correct,

The monitors picked up nothing,

Body functions remain unchanged,

There's nothing even on video,

Why do you keep talking

like nothing happened?

We're half-Blind,

Light was shooting

out of his body,

Because the only way

we can determine what happened

is to eliminate

the possibilities,

Those monitors could have

exploded from a power surge,

Please, we all know what we saw,

I saw a big alien figure

with lots of teeth,

I saw myself, only older,

And I saw swirling lights,

We all had different visions

caused by light-Induced seizures

or mass HALLUCINATIONS

or telepathic projections

that are on a scale

that's amazing,

Maybe we saw the face of god,

He's an alien,

Why do you keep

arguing with her?

Sir, she's right,

You just don't want to say it,

He brought that girl

back to life,

He turned water into gasoline,

He was on fire,

but he wasn't consumed,

Captain, that is enough,

No, sir,

You just don't see it,

Only god could do those things,

Nanotechnology

hardwired to the brain,

He gives his power a boost,

and off we go to the movies,

God spoke to Moses

from a burning bush,

and he spoke to us just now,

Captain, one more outburst

and I will have you locked up,

If he's not god, what is he?

He's an alien,

Just because somebody has

extraordinary abilities

why does everybody jump

to the metaphysical?

Because we're afraid of dying,

I mean, what happens afterwards?

Some of us are

so scared of dying

that we'd rather believe

in aliens,

At least aliens are alive

like we are,

That means they can be

killed like we can,

which in some weird way

makes them just like us,

But if something's metaphysical,

if someone's beyond death,

you can't kill them,

You can't destroy them,

you can't control them,

and for some people,

that's too much to handle,

Before we start praying to him,

let's check out a few things,

If he can feel pain, he's alive,

If he's alive,

he's not metaphysical,

End of story!

Could be some kind of

genetic mutation,

What do you think he is?

What do I think he is?

I'll tell you

what I think he is,

He wants him killed,

he wants to worship him,

If my kids met him,

they'd probably want

to help him phone home,

I don't know what he is,

except that he is dangerous,

No, he's not,

He hasn't hurt anybody,

She's right, he is God,

And god is merciful,

He's not god,

He knocked out two satellites,

Why don't you just let him go?

I don't want to let him go,

Look how we are all reacting,

You multiply that

by 200 million,

or 6 Billion,

Until we know who he really is,

he will be placed inside

our deep containment capsule,

( buzzer )

I respect you, Mr, Butler,

I really do,

And in some strange way,

I feel we could be friends,

but at the end of the day

if I feel that you have become

an intolerable threat

to the United States,

I will do my duty and kill you,

It won't matter

if I like you or not,

And if you do kill me,

general, ,,

how will you feel

about yourself?

There are a lot of things

I don't like about myself,

General?

May I speak to ms, Warren again?

( buzzer )

Oh, my God,

Hi,

Why do you keep wanting

to talk to me?

Because you're looking

for the truth,

About me,

And about yourself,

Usually when I'm talking

to my shrink,

I'm the one lying down,

You're avoiding,

A lot of people use humor

for that,

Okay,

The truth?

Are you an alien?

Or god, or what?

A guy from the future

or the distant past?

I mean, look at you,

You look like king tut,

If I tell you,

someone will kill you,

No, you're the one

that will get killed

if you don't tell them

who you are,

They won't believe it,

Even if you run it

all over

Hot topic,

people will refuse

to tolerate it,

This is such crap,

Just tell me what's going on,

If I tell you what I know,

mankind will lose

his sense of free will,

and without free will,

what's the purpose of Life?

Look what happens

in your own history,

When a superior culture meets

a more primitive one,

extinction,

The primitives can't resist,

Their values are displaced,

They lose their identity,

They lose their faith

in themselves

and in their culture

and in their god

and then their culture dies,

and then they do,

So, if they keep you here

we're all going to die?

I'm saying

is your faith strong enough?

I don't know if I have faith,

Everything and everyone

I've ever counted on

has always let me down,

or I've let them down,

Listen to me... I could die here,

Or be stranded,

I need your help,

You've got to trust me,

You've got to have faith in me,

and in yourself that you'd be

doing the right thing,

Then after the autopsy,

the subject will be stored

in cryogenic suspension

in humbolt caverns in area 51,

Assuming we don't have

to share pieces of him

with any other service

or government

that word leaks out to,

Are you going to tell

the president?

I haven't decided yet,

You can't do this, sir,

At ease, captain,

You have to let him go,

Put that gun down, captain,

That's an order!

Sir, no, sir!

Jesus said unto him, "Thou shalt

love the LORD thy god

"With All thy heart

and all thy soul

and all thy mind,"

That is the first

and great commandment,

Then get it over with

and shoot me,

You have to let him go!

Shoot me!

You can't move him!

I'm going to move him,

Escort captain Marquez

back to his quarters

and confine him there,

What if he is an alien, ,,

and we terminate him

then he doesn't report back

or go home

and the people from his planet

come looking for him?

Where are the guards?

She trapped them

in the mess hall,

Ms, Warren, open the door,

I don't know how I know

these codes,

but I've stopped asking

those questions,

Ms, Warren!

The door, Ms, Warren,

Ms, Warren, open the door!

She's opening it up,

Ms, Warren,

Come on, Todd's got a car

at the end of the tunnel,

I can't believe how lucky

we were getting out of there,

( Josh )

it's not always luck

that guides you, Judy,

( Todd )

whatever it is,

I hope we don't run out of it,

( Josh )

Turn here,

Where are you going?

Up there,

This is stupid,

I said we were

going to get killed,

and now we're

going to get killed,

Come on,

nobody's going to get killed,

I'm staying here,

That's a good idea,

We've only broken

about a million rules,

I'm sure they'd love

to talk to you about it,

I'll tell them

that he brainwashed us,

That he turned us into zombies,

We were, ,,

we were mindless automatons

bent on doing

his nefarious will,

Hey, you're the one who made me

steal back his clothes!

Okay, so, ,,

maybe they won't buy the truth,

Sir, tracking indicates he's

heading back to gold mountain,

( general )

Lock and load,

Why are we going up here?

Because you still have

a decision to make,

What decision?

I already helped you escape,

For god's sakes,

what more do you want?

You'll know when the time comes,

I don't want to know then,

I want to know now,

I can't tell you,

Sure you can,

You just say, "Judy,

here's what you have to decide"

And tell me,

It's not that simple,

Look, I'm not going any further

until you tell me

what's going on,

If the air force

Captures us again,

you will never know

what your decision is,

That much I will tell you,

So what's my big decision?

It's coming,

Don't worry, you're not

going to miss it now,

Miss what?

That you are an alien

and your ship's coming?

You want me to go with you?

I'll go, I'll go,

It'll be the biggest story

of the universe,

All endings are

beginnings, Judy,

It's time for me to go,

They're heading uphill,

B squad, establish a perimeter,

We don't want them doubling back

and slipping past us,

Get your toys, Frank,

Look, you just can't go

like this,

You got to tell me,

What are you?

An alien, an Angel?

God?

What?

What does it matter what I am?

I am who you say I am,

That's up to you to decide,

I could use a little help here,

Come on,

Jude, let's go,

Is that what you're

really looking for?

Help?

Yeah,

Help with my life,

help with my job,

I want to know

what I'm supposed to do,

I'm afraid, can't you see that?

We all are,

Afraid of everything...

Afraid of you,

You're not going to tell me,

are you?

I've told you

all you need to know,

God, I hate you,

You know that expression

"You're cute when you're angry"?

Yeah,

It's not always True,

How can you joke

at a time like this?

We came a lot farther this time,

didn't we?

Mankind,

Things are better, aren't they?

You were just trying

to make up your mind, right?

Don't look at me,

Turn your face away,

Don't go,

I have to,

Are you coming back?

What I am doesn't matter,

What you are does,

No,

We've got to get closer,

Goodbye, Judy,

Jude, there's guys

all over the mountain,

We got to get going!

They're almost here,

Where is he?

Was there a ship?

Do you have any record?

All our equipment is

back at the base,

Don't look at me,

I want every grain

of this mountain searched,

We'll work our way down

till we meet up with B squad,

Go!

Goodbye, Judy,

The one thing he couldn't do

is erase this after he left,

We're going to make

a ton of money,

What are you doing?

Are you crazy?

I'm making my decision,

Come on,

( control voice )

Throughout history,

the search for faith has led man

to look to the stars

and the heavens for answers,

But only by looking

into ourselves

may we truly find it,
