[War of Faith]

[Episode 11]

Who else could it be?

Who else dares to do this?

Your brother is an official of the government.

Besides, he's working under Mr. Song's orders.

Who dares to make trouble for such a big matter?

Honestly,

if you have the guts, then fight face to face.

It's cowardly to do an assassination.

Sister-in-law.

All the assassins

and killers

in this world

should be arrested.

Remove their tendons,

skin them,

and fry them in oil.

Hemostatic forceps.

It's almost been 40 minutes. He still hasn't come out.

Excuse me.

Sorry, excuse me.

Excuse me.

Excuse me.

How is he?

Mr. Shen was shot and is still under rescue.

It's okay.

Don't worry.

He will be fine.

He will be fine.

The heavens will bless him.

Tunan, you will be fine.

You will be fine.

Don't worry.

He'll be fine.

The doctor is out.

The wound has been treated,

but the patient lost too much blood and needs a blood transfusion.

The hospital's blood bank is low.

Draw my blood.

The patient has type O blood. Who has type O?

Doctor, I do.

I'm his sister.

Draw mine.

Follow me.

Jinzhen is anemic.

Who...

Who else has type O blood?

I have type B.

I have type A.

I don't know my blood type.

I can check it.

Nurse!

Nurse!

Hurry and pull out the needle.

Hurry up.

Okay.

Wait.

Why are you pulling out the needle?

Miss, you have severe anemia.

If you continue,

you may go into shock anytime.

I'm fine.

Have you transfused enough blood?

No,

but your physical condition doesn't allow more.

-I said it's okay. Keep going. -No, miss.

I'm a doctor. If we continue,

your life may be in danger.

Doctor, draw my blood.

I just checked it. I have type O.

Draw mine.

Okay.

Hurry.

Help the patient down.

Help support her.

Nurse.

Get ready.

Prepare to draw blood.

Young man, come.

I'm okay.

Relax.

Relax.

Clench your hand.

Don't worry.

The patient is stable.

Don't worry too much.

Thank you.

You can let go now.

Young man.

Young man.

Are you okay?

I'm fine.

You're done. We can't draw more from you.

It's okay. I'm young.

How is Mr. Shen?

The patient

is basically fine now.

He's just lost too much blood.

If we give him a little more,

he should wake up soon.

Okay.

Don't worry. Take a rest.

Pull out the needle if anything happens to the patient.

Okay?

Okay.

Notify me if anything happens.

Okay.

You're awake?

Nurse.

Don't call for them.

It's rare to have some peace.

Let's have some alone time.

I'm fine.

Sit.

Everything is fine.

What do you mean?

The doctor said

if you came half an hour later, you...

You'd be dead.

It's not that serious.

It's not that serious.

I don't care.

In the next six months,

you need to take good care of yourself.

Don't do any work.

You can do it

after you recover.

I don't have that much time.

Everything coming up is important.

What's important?

In my heart,

you are the important thing

You're the only thing.

Mr. Song has so many capable men.

Can't you let them die for the country instead?

Okay.

Okay.

I'll let them go.

I'll let them go.

Don't worry. I'm fine.

It's okay.

Okay.

The Central Bank won this battle.

The foreigners all backed down

and obediently handed the money over.

What does it have to do with you?

Will the tariffs go into your pocket?

Checkmate.

[Central Daily News] [Boosting the people's aspirations. The proposal to take back tariff autonomy passes successfully]

Miss Shen, you are here.

Why did you come out?

It's too stuffy in the room, so I came out for some fresh air.

Are you okay?

I'm fine.

I have enough blood.

This is

for me?

My sister-in-law asked me to give it to you.

Replenish yourself.

Thank you.

Thank you.

It's my duty.

Mr. Shen's life is very important to China.

And to you?

Even more important.

I mean it.

Mr. Shen has a great ambition.

As long as he's still alive,

there's still hope for China.

Do you think everything he's doing

can save China?

Of course.

I know

many people think

that his actions are too reckless,

but China has been weak for a century.

-Right now, for us— -Stop.

Go out, turn left, and you'll see a garden on the street.

It's more suitable for a speech there.

Other than you and I,

don't let a third person know about this,

including Wei Ruolai.

Understood.

Sir,

please promise me one thing.

Go ahead.

From now on,

don't gamble with your life anymore.

Your safety is more important than anything.

Sir, there's no way out. What should we do?

Sir!

Get off.

Don't move!

I'm Shen Tunan from the Central Bank.

Someone is after me.

Take him back.

You all go out and stand guard.

Yes.

Mr. Shen,

you're safe now.

We also caught one alive.

Thank you for saving my life, Captain Lin.

I have something important to do today.

Let's meet another day.

I'm not blaming you.

Hurting oneself to trick others works,

but you could've just shot me.

Why did you have to hurt yourself?

Shoot you?

Would they care if you got shot?

Assassinating an important political figure

is the only way to create public discourse

that the higher-ups will pay attention to.

I must be

the one who got shot

for Yu Shiqing to back down.

Understand?

Yes.

But I think Lin Qiaosong is very smart.

He must have found something amiss.

Mr. Shen, what a coincidence.

How did you know this room could save your life?

Knowing who's trying to kill me is more important now.

Don't worry.

We'll interrogate him when we get back.

I'll give you the result as soon as possible.

Thank you.

So what if he finds out?

That was a temporarily-rented apartment

with a random red flag.

It didn't even have an owner.

It was just a coincidence that we met there.

Also, I've anonymously asked

the Astor House Hotel to leave Mr. Kang a note.

Mr. Kang has a long-term room there.

Transfer me to Astor House Hotel.

Communist?

Captain, no one here.

Captain,

no one here.

Captain.

no one here.

Sir,

this room.

He knew there was news about Communists

and told Lin Qiaosong to investigate it.

What does it have to do with me?

Sir,

everyone was worried about you after you got hurt.

Mr. Song

even called several times

to ask about you.

It's not enough.

I want Chairman Chiang's support.

I must let Chairman Chiang

hear these voices.

The proposal

to take back tariff autonomy can only be

fully solidified after he makes a statement.

Understood.

I'll contact

Nanjing's Central Daily News

and have them make a series of reports

on this proposal.

Go.

Okay.

Sir, please rest well.

I'll get back to work.

Come in.

Miss Shen.

You look like you've recovered.

-Have a good rest these days. -You’ve recovered fast.

Don't worry about the bank.

You can eat now.

I have a good appetite.

Chocolate?

Studying in Germany was stressful.

I always had anemia,

so you always bought me chocolate.

This time, you have to replenish yourself.

You still remember?

Of course.

Sir, are you okay?

Not really.

He's kidding.

I heard that

you gave me a lot of blood.

I can't repay such a big favor.

You don't have to, sir.

It's my duty.

Luckily, my blood type matched with yours.

Miss Shen gave a lot too.

She couldn't even walk steadily.

I was sleepy.

I didn't sleep well a few days ago.

Ruolai,

the effect of your speech

at the vote was great.

It shook the various social circles.

Looks like I was right about you.

Sir, you flatter me.

Although I wrote the speech,

you commented on the key parts

and organized the logic.

Otherwise,

no matter how loud I screamed,

it would still sound powerless.

Is it the Central Bank's tradition

to flatter each other?

But you did a good job with flattering.

Tunan, are you going to give him a bonus.

I'm not flattering him.

I'm telling the truth.

You weren't there.

I was injured on the way.

The scene was a mess.

Mr. Jiang and Deng Ze

were at a loss.

Ruolai

saw that trouble was brewing,

so he ran to the stage and gave a speech.

He made Zhang Mingquan and Yu Shiqing

unable to lift their heads.

Someone told me the whole process afterward.

It was full of passion and energy.

Wei Ruolai,

good job.

Thank you, sir.

Wei Ruolai, I didn't expect it.

You're not bad.

Congratulations on your great achievement.

It's my duty.

You must be rewarded for your contribution.

Jinzhen,

I'm bedridden,

so you treat Ruolai to a good meal

to express my gratitude.

-Okay. -Sir,

no need.

It's his treat. Don't push back.

I'll choose a place and take advantage of this.

Hurry up.

I'll show you the real Shanghai.

Thank you, sir.

Eat well.

Okay.

Come on.

Order whatever you want.

Make yourself at home.

We'll order our own dishes, okay?

Okay.

Have you decided what to eat?

This one.

I'll order this.

You want this?

Yes.

Okay.

Miss Shen.

We'll order one of this.

Okay.

I'll tell the musician now.

Musician?

Didn't you want to listen to the violin?

Yes.

Let me look at the other things.

Shall I order for you?

Sure.

You can order.

What do you usually like to eat?

Is there anything you don't eat?

No.

Wonton, noodles, pot stickers...

Anything is fine.

This is a Western restaurant.

Let's try something else today.

How about steak?

Okay, that's fine.

One medium sirloin.

It tastes better this way.

Then add one salad, one shrimp,

and two servings of mushroom soup.

Also one serving each

of this, this, and this.

Okay.

And escargot too.

Okay, just a moment.

Thank you.

Snails are edible too?

They're like river snails.

You ordered so much.

Won't it be very expensive?

Don't worry.

My brother is paying. What are you scared for?

Besides,

we gave him so much blood.

He's supposed to treat us to dinner.

We have to replenish ourselves

by eating.

Also, I'm telling you.

My brother is very stingy.

It's not easy to get a meal out of him.

Don't hold back.

Okay.

Okay.

Sorry, sir.

It's not visitation hours.

Mr. Shen,

sorry for disturbing you.

It's okay. We're friends.

Go ahead.

Okay.

Sit.

You came—

Have a seat.

What can I do for you?

You are injured.

I’m worried,

so I couldn't help but visit you.

It's just a minor injury.

I'll be fine after a few days of rest.

Here's the thing.

I heard from my men

that

they heard a gunshot first that day.

Then you and Secretary Huang

came in to get help.

The killer's car

only entered the alley

after my men went out.

So,

who shot the gun?

What do you think?

The caliber of the bullet

in your body doesn't match

the killer's gun.

I am

quite confused about this.

Just say what you want to say.

It's boring to play dumb.

Mr. Shen, here's the thing.

I heard that Mr. Song is planning

a Tax Police Regiment

and invited

Wen Yingxing, who graduate from West Point, to be the head.

All positions will be new.

You and Mr. Song are close.

Can you make a recommendation?

What, you don't like working here with Mr. Kang

and want to work elsewhere?

Not me.

I'm a crude man.

I'm only suitable for the Investigation and Arrest Unit.

It's my men.

They are under great pressure to support their families.

I want them to work in a department with good benefits,

but only you

can help me with this.

You move fast.

You put spies everywhere

in the government departments.

They're all your informants, aren't they?

I'm completely devoted to the Party.

I have a clear conscience.

Fine.

If there's a chance,

I'll make the recommendations personally.

Per...

Personally.

Mr. Shen,

thank you.

How's the interrogation with the assassin?

He already admitted

it was Zhang Mingquan's orders.

Then, that's just a small fry.

If you want a good meal,

we need to catch the big fish.

I just want to know

what role Yu Shiqing played

in this assassination case.

What is it?

Mr. Yu.

What are you doing?

Just tell me what's wrong.

The assassin we sent

was caught alive by Lin Qiaosong.

What?

What's the situation?

The informant from the garrison command told me.

I'm afraid

he's already exposed me.

Why didn't you tell me earlier?

I just found out.

Who would have thought that Lin Qiaosong would be there?

Mr. Yu, what should we do?

You were the one

who finalized the decision to kill Shen Tunan.

Who finalized it?

Tell me.

When did I make the decision?

You want to get us involved?

I'm afraid

the cost is far from enough.

Do you think I'm discussing with you?

Lin Qiaosong,

as long as I'm willing,

I can take you down

from this position at any time.

You should know Mr. Kang's temper and character.

Between you and I...

Who do you think he'd choose?

You.

But Mr. Shen,

before I fall,

I'll definitely take a bite out of you first.

Don't worry.

I will take care of

your family.

Mr. Yu.

Mr. Yu, I was wrong.

It was my mistake.

I was wrong, Mr. Yu.

I didn't act cleanly.

Mr. Yu, I was wrong.

I was foolish.

I was wrong.

Mr. Yu,

I can still help you

do many other things.

Save me.

Save me.

It was my mistake.

Alright.

Shut up.

Shen Tunan is righteous and selfless,

but the people who work under him

have families to support.

We both work loyally for the Party.

We have the same enemy.

To be honest,

with Nanjing's support,

ignorant old men like Yu Shiqing

will be eliminated sooner or later.

Which side should you choose?

Go back and think about it.

Please pause.

Excuse me,

can you change to a cheerful piece?

The Lark.

Are you sure?

Yes.

But we never play this kind of piece in the restaurant.

Do you know it?

Yes.

[Jiren Hospital]

Sir,

I was looking for you.

Speak.

We found Li Shengda.

Where?

The emergency room in the back building.

He's still in a coma.

The doctor said he was shot in the chest,

but his heart is on the right side.

Otherwise, he would have died long ago.

Captain Lin.

Captain Lin.

How is he now?

He's survive.

The bullet was removed,

but his head was severely injured.

There should be hematoma in his skull.

That's why he's in a coma.

Can he wake up?

It depends on luck.

The probability of waking up

is half and half.

No smoking in the hospital.

Captain Lin.

I'm sorry.

Can he have surgery now?

Not at the moment.

He was shot and lost too much blood.

His bodily functions can't keep up.

He needs to recover.

For how long?

We'll do it as soon as possible.

If we inject imported nutrition injections,

he should heal faster.

Then do it.

Wake him up

at all costs.

It's pretty.

It just sounds

a little sad.

This piece

is called Requiem.

It's usually to remember a close one who passed away.

No wonder.

Who did you think of?

I thought of my brother.

He had an accident recently

and passed away.

My condolences.

Mr. Kang,

this is all I have.

Please help me.

Thank you, Mr. Kang.

You're out of your mind.

How dare you assassinate the special advisor of the Central Bank?

And after the incident, instead of repenting,

you bribe me about the case.

No, Mr. Kang—

Guards!

Mr. Kang!

Punish him severely!

Mr. Kang!

Who else is involved in the assassination?

Get to the bottom of this!

Mr. Kang!

Take him away.

Mr. Kang, please have mercy.

Mr. Yu, please say something!

Mr. Kang.

Mr. Kang.

Mr. Kang,

Mingquan came here

just to ask you for pointers.

There's no need to be so extreme.

This case is too big. I have no choice.

I can only handle the case impartially.

Sorry.

Take him away.

Yes.

Mr. Kang!

Mr. Kang!

I beg you.

Please.

It seems

that Mr. Kang has a successful career.

You won't give anyone favors.

Okay.

I'll take my leave then.

Mr. Yu!

Mr. Yu, wait.

Leave us.

Mr. Yu, calm down.

Calm down.

This matter

is not set in stone.

Just tell me what you want.

Gold bars, stocks, or real estate?

Say whatever you want.

We're friends.

It’s not good to talk about money.

I want you to help me

befriend someone.

Who?

Big Sister.

When I was young,

my brother taught me many skills.

He always said that it's good to be a jack of all trades.

If I had more skills,

even if he and our parents passed away,

I'd still be able to support myself.

So,

the living

must live well.

Whether alive or not,

everyone's life

has its own meaning.

Some people's deaths

are lighter than a feather,

while some people's

have a greater weight than a mountain.

Which one do you think

your brother's death is?

I don't know,

but

he must have died for his faith.

I think he had no regrets

before he died.

Absolutely.

Enough.

The tattoo on your back is from the Green Gang.

It's easy to identify you.

We can also follow the clues

and find your family.

If you touch my family,

I won't let you go even as a ghost.

Calm down.

I'm still discussing it with you.

Just tell the truth.

Did Zhang Mingquan

act under Yu Shiqing's orders

for this assassination?

We only accept Zhang Mingquan's orders.

Yu Shiqing?

Never seen him.

What are you doing this for?

All you have to do is say yes.

Before I shoot you,

I'll find a corpse to replace you.

You go back and escape

with your family.

I’ll help you

deal with the Green Gang.

No one will hunt down a dead person,

right?

Captain Lin.

Yu?

Why are you here?

Mr. Kang wants to see you. It's urgent.

Mr. Kang.

From now on,

we are family.

Let me tell you.

Big Sister

thinks highly of you.

Next, it's up to you.

Do your best.

Do you hear me?

Thank you for your introduction.

But...

This opium business...

What?

Are you scared?

You have the Investigation and Arrest Unit.

Who dares

to check your goods in Shanghai?

Come on.

Opium is strictly prohibited

by the upper level.

I can be beheaded if anything goes wrong.

The more prohibited it is, the more profitable it is.

Big Sister has Mr. Kong behind her.

As long as you get this support,

you won't have to worry

about making a fortune.

Seriously.

Let's go.

Of course,

if you don't want to do this,

it's not too late for you to back out.

How about this?

Think about it a bit more,

okay?

Mr. Yu.

I'll do it.

From now on,

I'm counting on you

for my future.

Happy cooperation.

Happy cooperation.

Mr. Kang.

This is

the one caught alive from Shen Tunan's assassination, right?

Yes.

I heard that Shen Tunan

is keeping an eye on this case.

Shen's public assassination is a big case.

Everyone is watching this.

The only one caught alive

died in your hands,

in the Investigation and Arrest Unit's jail.

You're embarrassing me!

How can I explain this to Shen Tunan?

Come,

take his gun.

What are you waiting for?

Sorry, Captain Lin.

You want to fight me?

Come.

Hit me here if you dare.

I know you have a backer in Nanjing.

If you don't accept it, you can report me to them.

I'll be waiting for you.

Sir, say something nice.

Get lost!

Mr. Kang,

I don't think this is suicide.

This is murder.

I request for a forensic scientist to intervene.

Don't change the subject.

You're not part of the Investigation and Arrest Unit anymore.

It's none of your business.

Mr. Kang,

this man was obviously hung up

after he died.

Those who die by hanging

have their tongues out.

Drive him out!

Mr. Kang!

This is so obvious.

Why—

[Hong Fang Clothing Shop]

Are you eating?

Have you eaten?

Yes.

This is the Central Bank's budget.

It includes the military expenditure details

for the second half of the year.

I don't know if it's useful or not.

I'll transfer it to Jiangxi as soon as possible.

This time, the Central Bank took back tariff autonomy

and has sufficient funds.

They increased the funding

to the arsenal too.

I feel

a new round of "encirclement" is about to begin.

Your brother

is very troublesome.

Without him,

the Central Bank wouldn't have been revitalized so quickly.

If only this kind of talent

can come to Jiangxi.

What we lack are financial talents.

Impossible.

My brother is a firm follower

of the Three Principles of the People.

Every time we talk about faith,

there's no way for me communicate with him.

We always fight.

It's okay.

Communism depends on actions

instead of words.

One day,

he will witness the darkness and corruption of the Kuomintang.

We'll have a chance then.

That day will come.

By the way,

when I treated Wei Ruolai to dinner,

he said the Central Bank will make a big move

to avenge my brother soon.

What do you think it'll be?

My brother's enemy is Yu Shiqing.

He said before

that he'd continue to acquire the private bank.

I'm guessing

they will acquire Xingxia Bank maliciously.

Xingxia Bank?

Xingxia Bank has been in international trade for many years.

The tungsten ore mine in Jiangxi Soviet

can't make sales

because of Xingxia's interference.

It's our tungsten ore trade's biggest obstacle.

Our superiors have asked us

to get rid of Xingxia long ago,

but we couldn't find a way.

This is a good chance.

Do you need me

do something for the organization?

Keep an eye on him.

Just report to me

about your brother's actions.

Okay.
