- How old are you? - Seven... Seventeen.

Please, I beg you.

Qi, we've got the wrong person.

What a pity.

Qi.

It's Gun.

Made an exception to see you.

He has been in the wind for five years.

Why send someone to find us now?

(Unknown number)

(Why didn't you answer the phone?)

Stop calling me.

(Can we meet?)

We'll get another hundred if we meet him.

Get back to work.

(Mr. Bai)

=Chase the Truth=

(Adapted from Zhao Junkai's novel "Northwest Off-North is Not North")

=Episode 2=

(Harmony)

(Restroom)

Open the door.

Keep an eye on him.

Open the door.

Stop the car and release us.

Yu.

Long Qi is holding Officer Yu hostage.

He's demanding us to stop the train and release him.

Keep an eye on them.

Immediately get in contact with Lanchuan Railway Security Bureau.

Tell them the pathway Chu Yihan's train is taking

and the situation with Spade 7.

- Ask them to provide immediate support. - Yes.

Open the carriage door,

or else I'll strangle him to death.

Li Tianlong, don't be impulsive.

The train is stopping.

We'll try to meet your demands.

(Old Guanshan Station)

Don't mind me.

Get him.

(Duan Qing, Chief of CID in Hanbei City, Xixia Province)

Get in.

Master.

We got him.

Come over.

Why wasn't there an immediate

evacuation of the crowd?

At that time, I thought Long Qi...

Again, with your thoughts.

I emphasized it twice to you.

Twice.

Old Guanshan's terrain is special,

and it's the suspect's only chance

to escape.

Didn't you understand?

It's my fault.

No.

This is your credit.

You managed to take down a criminal of such level on your own.

You're so capable.

You're the lone hero

in this mission,

but what about Yu Daluo?

Is he your sidekick,

someone to compare you with,

or is he the victim you saved?

The incident on the train

was a serious dereliction of duty,

and saving the situation in time

counts as making up for the mistake.

I request to receive punishment.

Don't worry.

I will punish you

without you having to ask for it.

Yihan.

Being able to shoot and use a gun is a skill,

and being able to play the hero

is also a skill.

But we here

don't welcome such people.

I'll emphasize it one last time,

in the future,

even if you managed to apprehend the target,

I will unhesitatingly

dismiss you.

Have you met Gun in person?

Take a guess.

Where are you going?

This way.

Hello, Chief Tai.

I'm Lin Mengmeng from Lanchuan Railway Bureau.

Hello.

(Public Security Communication System) Chu Yihan, Yu Daluo,

and the six assisting police officers

are all safe.

The suspects are all in custody.

We will start implementing passenger reassurance

and compensation measures immediately.

Thank you, Lin, for your hard work.

Master.

There are still sixty hours left,

and Gun is likely to appear.

I believe

that getting close to Gun

is the only way to catch Gu Mulan.

I suggest letting Long Qi meet Gun.

Chief Tai.

Didn't the Northwest Wolves Gang

suffer a huge loss after we besieged them

on a mid-autumn night five years ago?

I remember that battle

was a joint operation between three provinces,

capturing and eliminating

a black-clad armed mercenary under Gu Mulan's command,

capturing a total of 150 men,

and confiscating a total of

308 firearms

and 120 boxes of ammunition...

It's 127 boxes.

Actually,

Gu Mulan escaped

the minute before our operation began

and is still in the wind.

How did Gu Mulan manage to escape?

There is still no conclusion so far

because one minute

before we began,

a police officer accidentally

fired his gun

and alerted them.

Who was it?

A newly graduated young officer

who was under your master,

Cheng Fan's guidance.

During that operation,

the young lad also lost his life.

One of our undercover agents

inside the Northwest Wolves Gang

also missing to this day,

just like Gu Mulan,

without a trace.

Cheng Fan thinks

he was responsible for what happened,

and since he was not in good health,

he left CID.

Make a trip

to the Public Protection Department

and invite him over.

Chief Tai.

My master is currently in the hospital.

Gun still doesn't suspect Long Qi,

so this is our best chance.

Then, do you think

Long Qi would

agree to that?

We don't need him to agree.

I...

I can be Long Qi.

That's a wild goose chase.

We can't do that.

Long Qi is difficult to catch because of his stealthiness.

His consistent style is

to do business behind one-way glass.

People on the other side only know about his abilities

and his price.

They have no idea about his age, appearance,

or voice characteristics.

Moreover, he never collaborates with anyone a second time.

This is why

we caught two of his employers,

but we still couldn't trace him personally.

Master.

No one knows Long Qi better than I do.

I am the most suitable candidate.

Stop the car.

As long as Gun appears,

we have a chance.

I promise.

Before my identity is exposed,

I will definitely leave you enough time to capture him.

Stop the car!

I've studied Gun.

He's been missing for five years.

This time, if Long Qi doesn't show up, he won't appear at all.

Time is running out.

This is the only chance.

(Hanbei People's Hospital)

(Mu Xiaowan, Chief Cardiac Surgeon at Hanbei People's Hospital)

You're awake.

Xiaowan.

Where are those two girls?

They left.

Didn't I tell them to wait?

I have things to ask them.

I told them

that you can only meet visitors tomorrow.

They said

they'd come to see you early tomorrow.

Cheng Fan.

Why do you have an episode

whenever you see young girls?

Dr. Mu.

I heard

your remarriage failed.

Is it true?

I refused, okay?

My remarriage failed.

Why are you so happy?

Of course, I'm happy.

What are you doing there?

Writing a love letter for me?

Cheng Fan.

Do you feel like you're not dying quickly enough?

What's wrong?

Prepare for surgery.

Seriously?

That's it for me?

How long your heart can sustain

depends entirely on you.

I'm insignificant.

You won't listen to whatever I say.

Didn't you say initially

that it wouldn't affect my normal life?

Have you ever had a normal life?

I think

I'm going to have one.

Master.

Dr. Mu, you're here too.

How are you doing?

Why are you here?

Can't I come?

How is he now, Dr. Mu?

Chief Tai.

I'll be truthful in front of you.

The shrapnel from back then

injured the outer layer of his heart muscle,

almost touching the aorta.

His heart,

if continues to operate under heavy load,

will be at great risk.

In simple terms,

Mr. Cheng's chest

has a buried bomb.

If he overexerts himself, it could explode at any time.

There is no possibility of rescue.

The immediate priority

is to undergo restorative surgery

and take an extended period of rest.

Even if the surgery is successful,

his body

cannot withstand

high-risk and high-intensity work.

Dr. Mu.

Thank you.

I'm here

to have a good talk with him.

Xiaowan.

You can go attend to your work.

I'll talk to him.

Then you two talk.

Master.

How...

How's your health recently?

I have...

Gu Mulan is back.

His old colleague, Gun, too.

Gun has been dormant for many years.

I've been investigating him for five years and found nothing.

He emerges suddenly after so many years.

This is an opportunity for us.

Gu Mulan.

You've been arrested.

But Master,

I'm the Vice Squad's director.

What does this

have to do with me?

Now,

I'm doing well in the Vice Squad.

It's the same everywhere.

I'm still serving the people.

Cheng Fan.

You're the only one who has fought with him.

Your experience

can't be duplicated.

What kind of fight was that for me?

It was like sticking my butt up

and letting him beat me.

It's been five years.

For five years, I've been avoiding your unit,

afraid of seeing the faces of you people.

Seeing these faces,

I feel embarrassed.

If it weren't for my negligence five years ago,

this wouldn't have happened today.

We only have

50 hours of preparation time now.

This is our only chance to catch him.

If my little precious here

keeps going for 50 hours

without a break,

it's not going to make it.

Just as Dr. Mu said earlier,

there's a bomb here.

Captain Duan.

Long Qi's second phone

is related to a murder case.

Lanchuan's police have an audio clip.

Come and listen.

(Why aren't you answering the phone?)

(Stop calling me.)

(Can we meet?)

It can be analyzed now.

In other words,

Long Qi and the mysterious person contacted each other mainly through text.

Even if it's voice messages,

a voice changer is used.

So, the mysterious person has no idea

about Long Qi's appearance

or his original voice.

Whether it was

the pain left by Northwest Wolves

or the regrets from that time,

I've come to terms with it.

I don't hold any grudges anymore.

Northwest Wolves

are no different with these johns

I'm catching now.

They're all bad people.

I have the ability to catch them,

so I do so.

If I can't catch them,

that's my lack of skill.

I admit my defeat.

The longer

I'm in the Vice Squad,

the more I find it

to be quite interesting.

Master.

I don't have any other wishes now.

I just hope my body gets better,

and I can stay healthy.

So Xiaowan and I

can live a normal life.

I don't want my parents to worry about me.

Okay.

I respect your decision.

You don't need to go back.

But

tomorrow night,

I'll send someone

to come here and learn from you.

Be mentally prepared

and prepare some written materials.

Alright. I'll have them come to pick them up.

But Master,

there's something

I have to ask you.

Go ahead.

Don't let Yihan

participate in this case.

You little rascal.

That's beyond your authority.

Master.

This was how

we lost Lin Ke back then.

We must

protect their son.

It's not up to you

to decide who I'll use.

Does this involve personal feelings?

Master.

Master.

I'm aware of the information you have about him

Yihan

excels at every aspect.

He is undoubtedly the most suitable candidate.

Aren't you...

Aren't you implying that you will use him?

Cheng Fan.

Aren't you talking too much?

No.

I'll get the doctor for you.

No thanks, Master.

In the third year of Lin Ke's mission execution,

her husband fell seriously ill and passed away.

That's why she entrusted Yihan to both of us.

Taking care of him is not solely my responsibility.

You're responsible too, Master.

If anything happens to this child,

how can we explain to Lin Ke?

How can we explain to her husband?

Master.

If Yihan participates in this case,

his personal feelings will weigh heavily

and affect his basic judgement.

I would suggest

anyone else to go,

but not Yihan.

Master.

You must promise me, Master.

Master.

Master.

I know it's you, Mom.

Mr. Cheng.

Did my mom abandon me?

(Hanbei Public Security Bureau)

(Long Qi received 500 thousand cash.) Based on the information we gathered,

Long Qi has received 500 thousand

and a gun.

But he hasn't met the other party yet.

Moreover, their conversation mentioned 9 p.m. on the 6th.

We can conclude

that the day after tomorrow at 9 p.m.,

Long Qi will have to do something for the other party.

It may be escorting someone

or maybe he'll meet that person physically first.

But the location is yet to confirm.

(You quit? Forget it.)

Gun is pulling out?

Captain Duan.

(Got it. Will show up on time.)

Did you know he was going at a speed of 160 mph?

And then? Go on.

Go on.

What's the rush?

At 160 mph,

they sped in our direction,

wanting to hit us.

Could we be cowards?

We're police officers

who pledged under the police badge.

How could I be afraid?

Yes. Exactly.

At 240 mph, I sped toward him.

I was going to see who had the upper hand

or who of us was more daring.

So there's that.

- Yeah. - I couldn't believe

that within six feet,

he backed off.

With a turn of the wheel,

he hit the divider on the side.

Me, on the other hand,

flaunted my skills and ended him once and for all.

Impressive.

That's a double kill.

But I heard

that Long Qi is called Northwest's top killer.

Huh? What do you mean, a double kill?

Whatever that is,

they are nothing to me.

You're funny.

Daluo, why is there a scar on your face?

He fell while walking.

Yeah.

At that time,

I had to chase Long Qi for a long way.

Without looking at the road,

I stumbled because I was in a hurry.

You may see the superficial wounds on my face,

but Long Qi must have internal injuries after our fight.

Just look at him, and you'll know.

Right?

Cool.

- You're so cool. - Impressive.

Okay, you guys should leave now.

Captain Duan will be presenting me with an award soon.

What nonsense are you saying?

I don't want you to be jealous, alright?

Treat us to a meal tonight.

Go on.

Daluo.

Qiao Dan.

Heard you got beaten up. Are you okay?

Who got beaten up?

This is a traditional ointment that has been passed down in my family.

I'm giving it to you.

Apply it.

Didn't I give this to you last time?

Didn't I give it to you?

My dad passed it down to me, though.

You're right.

Alright.

Come and have a seat.

Later,

we must rebel.

Rebel against whom?

Captain Duan, of course.

Why should we do that?

You won't understand my intentions,

but do you know what's the first rule of battle?

We must protect us young police.

I'm not young anymore, though.

Let's protect ourselves, alright?

Let's protect ourselves.

Anyway,

as long as we succeed today,

I'll get you that gaming skin.

What do we do?

Don't you know

how many people hate Captain Duan?

Aren't I right?

Captain Duan. [*Break]

Captain Duan is going to break a limb.

What are you standing for?

Captain Duan.

Chief Tai.

Master.

Chief Tai.

Master.

Talking about breaking my limb? Left or right?

According to our research on Spade 7,

Chief Tai and I have decided

to take action in Hanbei.

We plan to capture Gun and Wolf King Gu Mulan

altogether.

Currently, Long Qi has been caught.

It's only 46 hours away

from his agreed-upon time with Gun.

Moreover, the other party is very likely to detect our actions at any moment.

Master.

Should we proceed to take action?

Initiating action recklessly will only alert him.

The best approach

is to go undercover.

Assume Long Qi's identity

and infiltrate Gun's team.

The problem is,

we must do this within

the next 46 hours.

I mean creating a new Long Qi.

Chief Tai.

Chief Tai.

I can do it.

Long Qi is an expert in combat,

and he also worked in security before committing crimes.

Gun hired him

to protect someone very important

who will carry out a dangerous task

in Hanbei.

The reason they didn't hire a regular security company

is the fear of identity exposure.

So, they hired a wanted criminal

with strong combat abilities who can also keep secrets.

Based on the communication records between Long Qi and Gun,

the preliminary judgement

is that it fits Long Qi's consistent way of one-way transactions.

In other words,

so far,

Gun doesn't know

what Long Qi looks like.

But Long Qi has been active on Northwest borders.

He understands basic Kazakh

and speaks Russian as well as Mongolian.

The person we dispatch

must understand these three languages.

I can.

Your pronunciation is very accurate,

but the accent needs improvement.

Do you speak Kazakh?

A little.

Not very fluent.

Yihan.

Your Mongolian pronunciation is excellent.

Thank you.

Accurate.

That's impressive, Han.

Since when did you learn so many languages?

Yeah.

Tell us

why you chose to learn minority languages.

Our ex-Chief of CID,

Lin Ke,

and Gu Mulan, the Wolf King, got lost in the borders.

The neighboring countries in Northwest could potentially be their hiding places.

Finding her has always been in my plan,

so back when I attended the police academy,

I spent a lot of energy and time

learning the languages of neighboring countries in Northwest.

Although I'm not fluent,

I can at least have simple conversations.

Chief Tai.

Master.

Among everyone in Hanbei Public Security Bureau,

no,

even among everyone in the country,

you won't be able to find

someone more suitable than Yihan.

He's right.

Not Chu Yihan.

No.
