[engine noise]

- I'm the only constant here.

Everybody-

It can be Roman against anybody at this point.

They're all fighting over it.

Got the fans who-

The only thing that's not debatable is

that I'm the mainstay.

It's hard for me to just sit back and, like, let it

just surround me and-

and saturate me too much because I'm just always focused on

what's the next thing.

Did I know exactly

the journey we're going to take to get there?

No, but I always knew what the destination is.

- I think I'm in a very unique situation.

To where art meets business that no matter what we do,

I'm going to make it to where I'm very happy.

- Hello everyone.

You are looking live at the T-Mobile arena

on the Strip in Las Vegas.

Welcome to the WrestleMania 40 kickoff show.

- From the very beginning, my dad always taught me that when

you come around this ring, it's only about money.

It's only about drawing money.

- Are you ready?

- And I've always taken the position to protect my family

and lift them and make it better

than it ever was.

But I just feel like in this moment it's even more than that.

And I don't care what anybody thinks.

I'm going to take this business

to a whole nother level.

[crowd cheers and boos]

Las Vegas.

[crowd cheers]

Acknowledge me.

[crowd cheers]

[waves crashing]

- When you talk about Roman,

I see a very cool, calm,

collected guy with a good head on his shoulders.

He's going to navigate the waters as they come to him.

And play the game the way it needs to be played.

The only thing that could stop him is him himself.

Man, that Bloodline, those Samoans.

It's a wrestling dynasty.

- That was definitely something that I think fueled me to

continue to push and strive for a different level of greatness.

- There they are the Wild Samoans.

- That's what I wanted.

That respect.

- I'm gonna ball out in college.

I'm going to be a star there.

Then I'm going to go to the NFL, and be a star there.

You think that's what it is

until life like stops everything.

- For a lot of people, you very easily could feel sorry

for yourself and just start on a downhill slide for him.

For him, he made it a bump in the road.

- The great ones have that "It" factor and Roman Reigns-

- Has that "It" factor

- -the name, the "It" factor, the whole package.

- You know that he's going to be a star.

I saw all those qualities from that guy

that's going to carry the company forward.

- But the minute the audience became aware that he was meant

to be the guy, they started to push back on him.

[crowd boos]

- He went through the fire.

He got scarred and charred by the fire and he learned.

Roman can't be something he's not.

- And finally, it's just like, [bleep] it,

I'm doing it my own way.

- I just really feel like this is what I'm hoping

hands down, the best work I've ever done.

- The WWE fans are like, "This is what we've been waiting for."

- Acknowledge me.

- It's an all in lifestyle, what we do.

You have to believe it.

You have to be in it.

- It's not a switch.

It just is who I am.

- To know where he's come from.

And what he's had to overcome,

is very special.

- This whole idustry,

this whole business runs off of me.

- He is selling out arenas at a pace that could only be rivaled

in the Attitude ERA.

- I really don't think a few years ago

he would have been ready to be where he's at now.

- I had to go through all these different life

experiences, go through those trials and errors,

make it through the fire.

It took a lot of somedays weathering the storm and then

some days playing in the rain.

Took all of that,

to become what I am now.

- Take one, mark.

- Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman.

I serve as special counsel and the "Wise Man"

to the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.

Which means the opinion you're about to hear is quite biased.

But just because it's biased doesn't make it wrong.

- One of the most dominant champions

of recent memory.

- All four faces on the Mount Rushmore of greats

lead to one man,

Roman Reigns.

Who could pass

any of the greatest champions of the modern era?

All of them legends, all of them generational talents.

I'm talking about people like

The Phenom, The Undertaker,

The Nature Boy, Ric Flair,

The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels,

The Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin,

The Game, Triple H,

John Cena.

- The champ is here.

- Even the immortal Hulk Hogan.

All of them.

To the man.

Each and every single one of them

- That is a sick ass slate dude.

- Acknowledges your Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.

- Hogan with the leg lock,

two, he got him.

[crowd cheers]

[bell rings]

- Hulkamania is here.

- There have done a lot of guys over the years,

over the last 30 or 40 years,

that have been handed the ball, and everything's about a run and

how long and how powerful your run is, and everybody has a

certain run that they have as a champion or as the main guy,

the "It" guy.

And Roman tells a story.

Roman has placement, he has timing,

and everything he does means huge things so,

give me him all day long.

I mean, if I was in my prime right now,

I'd love to work with him.

- No.

- Get out.

- We got a new World Champion

[bell rings]

- Everything is methodical, everything has purpose,

and that comes with knowing what your character is.

You're trying to capture people's imagination.

That's what you do.

They have to believe in you.

And people believe in Roman.

Whether they like him, they don't like him.

They believe in him.

- It's Flair from behind.

Oh yes.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Flair did it.

- We just know how damn good we are.

You don't even think twice about it.

And to be the man-

Woo.

-you've got to beat the man.

Roman's got the total package and they got it going,

and they believe in him, and

I'd keep all the gas on him there is.

- Wait a minute, wait a minute.

Michaels su- he got it.

He got all of it.

- The boyhood dream has come true.

- It's the reason everybody gets into this line of work,

I think, is to, you know, is to

want to be that guy and to experience what it is to,

you know, to take that on.

I've never even heard

of there being a time when Roman didn't handle it well.

- The Austin era has begun.

- For me, myself as a trash talking guy from Texas,

you know, somewhat cocky.

I couldn't pretend to be anything that I wasn't.

What I see in Roman really, is he's only going to be Roman.

And I'm only going to be Steve, you know,

which means, you know, everything goes

with being Stone Cold.

Let's just turn it up.

Same thing with Roman.

- Triple H has realized his dream.

It's all about Triple H.

He is now the World Wrestling -- champion.

- The ones that are the most successful on all levels,

not just box office or ticket sales or viewership,

are the ones that have that innate ability to lead.

Roman Reigns covers the leadership role in a way that is

this quiet steadiness, this assuredness.

- Hook of the leg.

- One, two, three.

- Cena is the champion.

- It is an on the job training no matter what.

We learn the most from failure.

And Roman had his share of knocks and finally was just

like, [bleep] it, I'm doing it my own way.

And it has been a wrap ever since.

It has been drop mic, conversation over.

There's nobody like him.

He should be compared only to himself.

- That's some lineup, isn't it?

What a roster.

Each and every single one of those men can lay claim

to being amongst the greatest of all time.

But there's only one man

that can lay claim to truly being the G.O.A.T.

The greatest of all time.

- That's me,

the Tribal Chief

Roman Reigns.

This type of stage I've been waiting on for a long time.

We all been working, we all grind and everybody wants it,

you know?

That's seized up.

You feel that [bleep]?

But I've just come way too far.

Like I don't give a [bleep] what anybody wants, what anybody

thinks, whatever their dream is, whatever their story is.

You're in the middle of my book now.

- If you're the WWE champion, if you're the world champion,

if you're put in that position, you're sort of put in a position

of carrying the charge.

- When somebody's got wrestling in their blood.

It's hard to change the course of their life.

I mean, it's part of him.

It's just seems so natural to him.

He makes everything his own.

- Who is Roman Reigns?

- Who's Roman Reigns?

Well, that depends on the perspective.

That depends on how you relate to me.

How I affect your life.

But down to the core of it.

I'm just a young man addicted to greatness.

We're in New York at The Tonight Show,

Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Knock out a little promotion before we head to San Antonio.

It's a little different, you know what I mean?

It's a different type of environment.

You know what I mean?

A different showcasing.

It's just like more requirements, you know,

and needs and responsibilities of the job.

That's why everybody can't do it.

- Everyone wants to be the guy,

but nobody ever thinks about

what it's like to be that guy

and everything that comes along with it.

- You know, when you're at the top attraction,

when you're on top of WWE, you're on top of the world,

and there's a lot of responsibility that-

that comes with that.

- Think he has all the tools to become

as big as he wants to be.

He's got star written all over him.

[crowd cheers]

- How's that look?

- You know what's great is the last time you were on the show,

you were on your way to WrestleMania, and I said,

"Next time you come on my show, you're going to have two belts."

You do have two.

[crowd cheers]

- Sometimes pressure busts the balloon.

And then other times,

you just continued to expand and grow with it.

- The Tribal Chief is

the dream that I dreamed my whole life.

And I didn't even realize.

That that was the dream.

My whole life, I wanted to be somebody significant.

I wanted to be a man of influence.

But little did I know it was going to be through

connecting into the skin of the Tribal Chief.

I didn't realize that, that's

what I was after my entire life.

I was born in Pensacola, Florida,

May 25th, 1985.

- Leati Joseph Anoa'i.

Leati is his father's real first name.

Sika's real first name.

On my mother's side, everybody was a Joseph.

There were so many Josephs.

And I said, "Well, I need to keep that going."

And so I named him Joseph.

- When Joe was born, um, we're 15 years apart.

I'm the oldest.

My sister Vanessa is my oldest younger sister.

And then Summer is right after her.

And then Joe is the absolute youngest in our family.

- I was raised in a small cinder block panhandle of Florida home

a three bedroom, one bath.

I look back at it.

It was a miserable little setup, but it was ours.

But yeah, a lot of credit goes to my mom and the sacrifices

that she made.

- It was never a dull moment.

I know my mom pulled all her hair out all the time, but, um,

it-it was it was fun.

Always exciting.

We grew up with a wrestling ring in our backyard because,

of course, my dad's a wrestler.

- Roman Reigns father is a legendary tag team wrestler

in the WWE named Sika, the Wild Samoan.

- Throughout the 1970s and the 1980s, there was no tag team

on the face of the planet,

that held as many tag team championships as Afa and Sika,

the Wild Samoans.

- There they are the Wild Samoans.

Afa and Sika of course the

World Wrestling -- Tag Team Champions.

- One night,

Panama City, Florida,

Sika came into the locker room with his three year old son.

Roman Reigns.

You could just tell the charisma of this three year old.

- Years later,

my parents separated and eventually divorced.

But to be honest,

even if they were still together,

that life chose him. the road chose him.

As it chose me.

- With Joe, it's my fault

because I had been on the road all these years

and he's been by himself and his mom and his sisters.

I-I can't help that.

I got to get out there and I got to work.

- My dad was a hard man.

He was tough

because it had to be.

We used to go down to the YMCA downtown Pensacola all the time

with my dad, and they had this big Olympic sized lap pool.

And I would just scale the wall, terrified.

My dad would always say,

"You going to stay on that wall your whole life,

or you gonna to learn how to swim?"

and next thing I know it,

my mullet's being pulled up out of the pool

and he launches me into the deep end.

As soon as I hit that water.

I just started to sink like a rock, and as soon as my foot hit

the bottom of that pool, I just started scratching and clawing.

I started to fight.

And little did I know

that fight was being translated into swimming.

I was all the way back up to the top.

And from that moment on, I knew how to swim.

So my father's side is Samoan and my mother's side, um,

is Italian Sicilian, but I had just been so immersed

into my my dad's side of the family.

There was just something that I took a great pride in.

Our family members are a lot of their personalities

are larger than life.

They are large humans.

So they're, you know, larger than life

in that perspective as well.

Like, I mean, when we go to a barbecue.

- We gonna eat it all up.

- It's a crazy collection.

I mean, you got Umaga, Junior, Rikishi's there, the big Sam,

Samu, little Sam Tonga kid running around crazy.

I have a cousin, Yokozuna.

- Banzai.

- Oh, look at that.

- Who was a World Heavyweight Champion.

He was the top guy of the WWE.

If you're the champ, you get a different look.

You get a different vibe around here.

My cousin Dwayne,

- The most electrifying man in Sports and Entertainment.

- If you're the champ, if you were the top guy,

if you were the face of the company,

you were driving it,

it just felt like you could do whatever you wanted.

Watching the men in my family experience and go through,

you know, the high points of their career,

it taught me a lot about this business.

It taught me about the sports and the entertainment of this

business, because we had a very wide range of performers

in our family.

- Once he got old enough to actually do bigger brother

younger brother type things,

I had signed a scholarship for

football at the University of Hawaii,

and then from that point I kept moving on,

starting my career off in wrestling.

- He grew up with me and my mom,

pretty much my sister and my brother had already moved out of

the house, so he was pretty much raised with two girls.

And then we had cousins move from Atlanta,

the twins.

- That's Joshua.

- Well, there's the twins right there, they're goin' at it.

- These guys were going to be a part of my life for a long time.

- What's your name?

- Jonathan.

- First time I met Joe, we come home, but he's already there.

Me and my brother

get to the room.

Somebody in our toy box.

"Yo, who are you?"

"I'm Joe, your cousin."

"What are you doing?"

"Playing with your toys."

"All right, well, let me play with that one,

because that one, that's my favorite. "

- I wasn't having it, so I threw up the one.

These days we do this.

But back then, it was this one.

And I forget which one.

If I had to, like, pro personality profile

was probably Jey

that went running off crying about it.

- My brother starts throwing it up too.

I'm like, "Hey man, you and you are wrong.

I'm gonna go tell on both of you."

- And you know, we've been throwing up the ones,

ever since.

At this point, my older sister was the closest to me,

Summer,

she was going to the skating rink and I wanted to go,

but I wasn't old enough and I threw a fit about it.

And while I was throwing my little hissy fit,

Matt was the one that suggested,

"Well, instead of going to the skating rink,

why don't we go to the Escambia High School football game?"

And that was my first experience of not only football,

but then also seeing my brother,

and football tied together, and then that would also play a deep

role into his influence on what I did and kind of how I did it.

I wanted to play football because he loved football

and he played football.

And have really sent me down that physical, you know,

route of sports,

um and athletics that I think really did set the tone

for the rest of my life,

and-and kind of

be the catalyst for the choices to come.

- Then he-he was the only one that got signed to-to a big

school, Georgia Tech.

So big barbecue that night for my family.

- He played the way we wanted people to play.

He wasn't as big as some other guys that we had recruited,

but he was tough, hard nosed, got after it every snap.

He was that kind of guy.

- Joe brought an intimidating presence to our defense.

You know, he put the offensive line on the other team on notice

that they're going to have a long day.

And that is going to come all day, every play,

'til the end of the game,

Ah, he was a badass.

- At that point in time, I was with the WWE,

so I didn't have a lot of time to go see a game,

but when I did have time, um, we were definitely there.

And then of course, the games that I'd watch on TV when I had

the chance to, you know, I remember watching him,

playing him, sacking the quarterback,

and I just went absolutely nuts.

And in my opinion, I'm his number one fan.

I'm his number one fan.

- And at the end of the day, I was a pretty damn good athlete

and I signed a preferred free agent deal with the Vikings.

- I wouldn't care if he was going to Alaska.

I just was so excited for him.

- So it was the very first day of rookie camp.

We started it out.

We went and did our physicals, which included blood work.

As I was walking out, there were two trainers there

to pretty much intercept me.

So that's where we went into the rabbit hole

to find out the diagnosis of CML,

which is a form of leukemia.

Which is cancer of the blood.

I wish this got me butterflies, and,

but like I earned this, that-that wasn't like-

I'm not excited for this because I expect this.

I've always expected this.

This was-

And then when I didn't have it, I was pissed, I was bitter,

I thought I should've had it.

So I just kept working, and I got it.

But I'll never forget

where I started.

My white blood cell count was anywhere from like 50 to 70,000

white blood cells, I want to say.

So it was just way too much.

So that's where we went into the rabbit hole to find out

the diagnosis of CML, leukemia.

- I was at home, he called me from the airport and it just

felt like somebody ripped my heart out.

I think it broke him.

- A few years before I was diagnosed is when the major

breakthroughs for oral chemotherapy happened.

I was very lucky I didn't have to go through radiation.

I didn't have to go through true chemotherapy.

But for lack of better words.

Such a mind [bleep].

- It's like all the extra steps to get to where he needed to go,

and then something out of his control happens like that,

man, I think that's just God letting him know,

"Hey, this ain't the door for you."

- So I started working for my sister, and, uh, her business

at the time was called Proactive Installations.

It was an office furniture, um, installation company.

- The twins were working with us, so they just told him,

"Come on, brother, you know, come, we'll work here." and,

that's what he did.

- It paid the bills, so we was grateful for that,

but that-that just wasn't it for us.

- And I remember sitting there like,"This can't be it.

This, this is not it."

- That's when my whole mindset shifted, because

at this point Jonathan had already reported to FCW

- FCW is Florida Championship Wrestling,

and it was really our training ground.

It was sort of our minor leagues.

It's where people with either no experience or a little bit

of experience would come in and learn from some great coaches

who had an understanding of how the WWE way worked.

- I was building task chairs for my sister in her warehouse,

and my dad walked in and laughed at me.

He just asked me, "Are you going to build chairs

for your sister your whole life?"

And I didn't really have a good rebuttal there,

and I didn't really know what to say.

And then he asked me,

"When are you ever going to want to wrestle?"

I told him, "I-I'm ready."

He did exactly what he did to me in that YMCA pool.

He wanted me to swim.

He wanted me to wrestle.

So he grabbed me by my hair and he threw me to Tampa,

and I learned how to wrestle.

- Welcome to the FCW Arena in Tampa, Florida

for Florida Championship Wrestling.

- I met Joe at FCW.

You could tell he was a natural.

Knew how to carry himself and be at home in the ring.

And that's what you have to do.

We can teach you to lock up.

We can teach you to grab a hold,

but we can't always teach you timing and feeling,

but he had it from the very beginning.

- It's at this point the twins, once they got settled in-

- The debut for Jimmy and Jey here tonight on Superstars.

- -they were kind of doing not too much, you know,

as younger performers on the undercard.

- I want so much more and I knew that,

but I just don't have the knowledge,

but if you put me here, I swear to God,

I'm going to take every spot that I can.

They told me to be an individual.

Then why do I feel like they've cuffed me?

- First time I've seen him

walk in a developmental system building.

I said "Roman Reigns will be a huge star."

- The great ones have that "It" factor.

And Roman Reigns-

- Has that "It" factor

- -the name, the "It" factor, the whole package.

- There were like some whispers.

They were going to call up a group of guys.

They were looking at me, Roman, Ambrose.

And so we were all thinking we were going to be maybe

in some group together.

They didn't fully explain what it was going to be,

but it was going to happen.

- And I know I'm going to do whatever it takes,

and I won't stop until it does happen.

That was my fast track to get up to speed to become

what I didn't even know I was supposed to become.

- You know, there's always that period of time

when you first come in that you have to figure things out.

And initially, things don't always work out

the way they're supposed to.

What separates Roman from the other next big things

is his determination.

And I think with The Shield, it was cool

and it was innovative,

the three of them was a dynamic kind of group.

- Myself, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose,

we had traveled to go to the next pay-per-view,

which was Survivor Series.

Finally we got taken aside and explained what we were going

to be doing for the evening.

- You are looking live at the packed Bankers Life Fieldhouse

in Indianapolis.

This is the Survivor Series.

- I just remember thinking

"How are people going to respond?

Is anybody going to know who we are?"

Then I just remember also thinking, "It doesn't matter

because like you don't get another chance

to make a first impression."

- Who the?

What the?

What-what is this?

This is an absolute mauling,

An absolute pack mentality.

What are these guys doing?

- We-we lit a fire under everybody's ass,

and I don't think it's really been the same since.

- He was an extremely good listener,

picked up on things extremely quickly,

and had a humility about him when it came to learning.

- Sierra.

- Hotel,

- India.

- Echo.

- Lima.

- Delta.

The Shield.

[The Shield's music]

- Who can stop the solidarity of The Shield?

- We were a three man group that dominated WWE for the better

part of a year and a half.

All members of The Shield have gold.

- It was compelling because

you know, you want to see 'em.

You wanted to see what it is and who they were going to go after

and what they were going to do next.

- We're just doing every single show, we were on

all the appearances I mean, Roman was getting

huge reactions wherever we went.

- Nice to meet you.

- He had every element that the WWE traditionally looks

for in a main event superstar.

- He was giant.

He's a good looking lad.

He has a presence about him.

I think when you combine all of those elements together,

you see star like somebody that- that doesn't isn't-isn't going

to blend in with the rest of the crowd, you know?

- He was subtly being positioned as the guy who was going to come

out of the group and be the biggest star.

- Oh my God.

- Why in the world would Seth Rollins do this?

- I didn't want to break up The Shield,

and I definitely didn't want to be a good guy.

And that's exactly what was happening.

- As The Shield,

he was doing 33% of the work when he got off on his own

there were some holes in his game.

- When I was with The Shield, we ran this yard,

and when I win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship,

I take my rightful place at the Head of the Table.

Believe that.

- Roman was the cool, silent muscle of the group.

- And once he broke away from The Shield,

suddenly he wasn't so silent,

and a lot of things that he was doing

weren't so cool.

- You are a sniveling little suck up sellout full of

sufferin succotash, son.

I was so young on the rise.

But it's not like I had a nest egg built up.

It's not like I had a whole bunch of options that I could

just say, "No, I'm not feeling this.

This doesn't feel good to me, or I wouldn't say this."

Was so,

hard to do that when you don't have that backup,

when you don't have that [bleep] you money,

and you can't just stand on your art

and your family's depending on you.

Your livelihood is depending on you,

so you have to just be a good soldier

and do what you're told.

- I think initially there might have been a bit of a backlash

from fans because maybe they thought, "Oh, this is the guy

they want us to cheer, but we're not ready to cheer him."

- Welcome to the 28th Annual Royal Rumble.

- I think they felt ever so slightly like, "Hey, you're

forcing our hand on how you want us to feel about this guy,

and we're going to revolt."

- Roman Reigns is going to WrestleMania.

- Here is your winner,

Roman Reigns.

- I was booed historically.

[crowd boos]

You think of these moments.

You dream about them.

And the moment that it actually happens, it's like

they're playing the worst soundtrack of all time

over your moment.

Ruining your party.

That's how the Rumble

in Philly felt.

- In the Royal Rumble, thelast man standing is the winner and

goes to WrestleMania to face the WWE champion.

Fans looked at Roman as "Oh yeah, he's pretty cool,"

but when they realized that WWE,

the corporate machine, had gotten their hands

on Roman Reigns, that Roman was the next guy

that was going to be shoved down our throat.

We weren't ready for Roman Reigns to be that guy.

- I try to forget Philly.

I try to forget the Royal Rumble.

There's only one positive,

and that's the fact that it's going to be able to tie

all the way back around.

Wrestlemania 40.

And like I said before, I was tunnel visioned and I treated it

very seriously and I was groomed

to reach a point like this.

- Okay.

Get your tickets out.

- Welcome to my stadium.

- Thank you.

- Just to see how far wrestling has come from when my father was

in a WrestleMania to where Joe is.

It's overwhelming.

And to see him.

Like main event it?

Oh yeah.

- Roman Reigns is walking in to his first WWE World Heavyweight

Championship match tonight, and it happens to take place in

front of 76,000 WWE fans at WrestleMania.

- There's plenty of doubts, but dealing with the scale of being

in the main event of WrestleMania

completely changed my life.

- Any guy who becomes the guy at some point has to walk

through hell in some match.

That gives them the credibility

with the fans.

And you can push a guy, you can put him

in the main event,

doesn't mean he's the guy.

- Roman had to walk through hell.

And that was with Brock Lesnar.

- That's the man that Roman Reigns goes toe to toe

and face to face with tonight.

- Ladies and gentlemen,

My name is Paul Heyman.

And tonight I introduce to you

The Beast, the Conqueror,

the reigning, defending undisputed

WWE Heavyweight Champion of the world

Brock Lesnar.

[crowd cheers]

- That was the first day of the rest of my life.

It was just something about

him and his aura,

and everything that he was doing that just made him different

and unpredictable.

And I didn't have a care in the world because I just knew,

"Oh, we're just going to go out there and bang."

[bell rings]

- And right out of the box, Brock's been cut.

- We're just going to go out there and be violent.

And that just gave me the most comfort in the world.

I don't know what it was.

If it was some kind of primitive part of me.

- It was the perfect match up with the perfect guy.

And-and I thought, Roman

was just excellent.

- Oh no, he got caught.

Lesnar.

F5

Who can capitalize?

[Seth Rollins' music]

- What on Earth?

- This is brilliant.

Seth Rollins

Mr. Money in the Bank

A triple threat match.

- What?

- What the hell?

- Seth is going to finish him.

- Lesnar picked him out of the air.

Reigns with a spear.

Curb stomp to Reigns

Cover by Rollins.

Rollins wins the title.

- I mean, look, now that we're all on our own,

there's a little bit of competition there.

Nothing personal against Roman.

Love him.

I just wanted to be the guy.

- This was supposed to be his moment.

This was the crowning achievement.

This is the coming out party.

This was the opportunity to cement him as the number one guy

in the company, and he had it all taken away from him

in a span of a couple of minutes.

- The moment that happened

it-it completely change the altitude.

People believed in me.

- You held up your end, right?

You know it in here, don't you?

Nobody carried you.

Please understand that.

- I think that's why I'm-

like a hot mess right now.

- Nobody carried you, Joe.

Nobody carried you.

You lived up to your end and then some.

- Thank you Paul.

Not only was it the stage and the level

that I was searching for

my life hasn't been the same since.

- Roman Reigns is going to defend his Championship against

one of the top social media influencers in the entire world,

Logan Paul.

- I knew I could get to this point, and I think there's a

lane out there that nobody's even touched that

why not me?

Why not-why not be the guy who builds the new technique,

a new system, uh,

and that's what I'm trying to do.

- After working with Roman, it was so clear to me why he is the

face of the WWE.

He's the full package.

He has it all.

Going toe to toe with him.

Putting on an amazing show in Saudi Arabia

The fans going crazy.

It was a dream come true.

He is excellent.

- When I first got here, John was the man I looked at,

"Okay, these are the things he's doing.

This is the things that he had, the resources he has.

Okay, I want to get to that level."

- John Cena everywhere.

John Cena in your CD player May 10th.

John Cena on your silver screen in the fall.

WWE is looking for the next John Cena.

Boy, I know what that's like.

Steve leaves, Rock leaves

WWE's looking for the next Stone Cold.

WWE is looking for the next Rock.

Roman came in at a time where I was fortunate enough to have a

long enough period where, okay, this is the template of success.

But there is no template for success.

But, we get lulled into this comfort of who's going to do it

the way John did it, to carry everything forward?

No one.

You got to do it differently.

- We were trying to force Roman Reigns to be a star.

Roman had all the attributes of being a star athletic, in shape,

tremendous in-ring worker.

Roman was incredible at all that,

but our WWE fans want

stars to be made organically.

Roman Reigns is back,

in the main event at WrestleMania.

Spear

Spear by Reigns

- But the WWE fans weren't having it.

They wanted nothing to do with it.

- No matter how many accolades you give a superstar.

We don't want it.

We don't want it.

- One of the most competitive superstars

to ever step foot in the ring.

And he'll have his hands full tonight

for the man who's 23-1 at WrestleMania.

- You know, Roman definitely stands out.

He's got the "It" factor, you know,

I saw all those qualities from that guy that's going to

carry the company forward.

- And a huge spear into the heart of The Undertaker,

and Roman Reigns has defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

- The Undertaker is maybe the most beloved character by us

fans that's ever existed in the WWE.

We did not want that Roman Reigns to be the guy that sends

The Undertaker into retirement.

And he showed up on Raw and he stood in the ring and the WWE

audience told him, "No matter how many people you beat,

you are not our guy."

[crowd chants]

[crowd boos]

- It was really neat to see a fan base's admiration

and respect for Undertaker.

That-that was the first time I felt the real control

of what we do,

and that's when it was like

a big epiphany, like, "Oh my God."

[crowd boos]

- That was the first moment of really

feeling the power

of the microphone.

[crowd boos]

I just learned how to wield this weapon.

Like, really grip down and hold this thing tight, you know.

[crowd boos]

- Now we'll be cooking with gas.

[crowd chants "You suck."]

- I said it too their in the palm of my hand.

[crowd boos]

That in another way was kind of like the, you know,

a new beginning in its own right.

This is my yard now.

[crowd boos]

- My personal opinion now is I think he found his home.

And I think he's, uh,

I think he's going to make this his house for a long time.

- My brother was cool.

He just was, like-

My brother was much bigger than me.

Due to that size, he was probably more intimidating,

you know, from a first impression.

And he had the size and the power to be an [bleep].

When you're that big, you can be a [bleep] to anybody,

but he wasn't.

My brother was just cool.

And that's what I heard from everybody all the time.

Everybody loved my brother.

- My brother Matt was staying with my sister,

and um, she came home from work.

She had talked to him earlier that day and she came home.

She had been maybe a couple hours later, um,

He just looked like he was taking a nap.

Like she said, he looked like he was sleeping.

But he wasn't breathing.

And we lost him.

I lost my-my brother.

One of my best friends.

Um, he had a heart attack, yeah.

He had a heart attack.

And I don't know if it was in

his sleep or if we don't know

- Man, when your family, you know,

we all go through loss, man.

You know when it's hard to put that.

Put a name on that feeling.

- I think I got more mad at myself for not helping more.

Due to my success and the resources that I possess,

we could easily helped them.

We could easily got him into a groove of life to where

he was far more comfortable.

- Something to do with athletics,

just his focus in the gym,

focus all through high school and-and uh college.

He- you knew Joe was set for something great, you know.

He's-he's setting the bar in our family

that much higher.

I'm just incredibly proud of him.

I mean, how can you not?

- It became very clear.

That no matter how much WWE fans booed Roman Reigns,

WWE was not going to stop this train.

And we got to WrestleMania 34, where the headline is once again

Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar.

And fans showed up to WrestleMania already thinking,

"Well, Roman's going to beat Brock,

and I'm not going to like it."

Until

Roman didn't win.

- Any neck pain or anything like that?

- Every inch of you physically, every fiber of you mentally.

That's the only way to get to the top and stay on top.

And that's why I do what I do.

And I'm not going to stop.

I'm not going to stop.

Until I've earned that respect.

- One of the things that's impressive to me is being the

guy that main evented Wrestlemanias

that many years in a row.

That's not an easy position to get.

It's not an easy position to be in.

And it's not an easy position to maintain

to be that year over year over year over year

is something special.

- There's a weird thing that happens in our business.

The more time that you put in and the more dedication that you

show for this unique genre that we have, the WWE fans recognize

that and a weird thing along the way happens

and they start to change a little bit.

- For a second, you go,

"Oh, maybe he is the guy. Ooh, I like that.

Ooh, yeah."

And you start to.

"Oh.

What's that?

I just feel myself rooting for Roman Reigns?"

I think SummerSlam was one of those instances.

- You are looking live at a sold out Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Welcome, everybody, to SummerSlam.

- The whole time I was tryin to achieve something

And you just keep butting your head against this figure

who is established.

He's a world renowned combat athlete.

And you-you just can't figure it out.

- Perhaps the most important night

of Roman Reigns career

because does he get another opportunity if he does not

slay The Beast tonight?

- And then finally you do.

- And Reigns with a spear

to the champion.

Here's the cover.

Hook of the leg.

Reigns did it.

Roman Reigns did it.

Reigns is the champion.

- And it's just all taken away.

I feel like I owe everybody an apology.

For months,

maybe even a full year.

I've come out here and spoke as Roman Reigns

and I said a lot of things.

I said I'd be a fightin champion.

I said I was going to be consistent and I said

I was going to be a workhorse, but-

that's all lies.

It's a lie because the reality is my real name is Joe.

And I've been living with leukemia for 11 years.

And unfortunately, it's back.

- None of us knew.

You know, his personal life is his personal life.

And, you know, he keeps that a lot to himself.

So most of us did not know what was happening that night.

- And because the leukemia is back, I cannot fulfill my role.

I can't be that fightin champion.

And right now, the best thing for me to do is to go home to

focus on my family and my health.

[crowd chants "Thank you Roman."]

But I want to make one thing clear

by no means is this a retirement speech,

because I will beat this and I will be back.

So you will see me very, very soon.

[crowd cheers]

- Oh, nobody died, come on.

[laughing]

- When something like that happens to you,

it changes your perspective.

And it makes you realize the things that are more important

and changes your day to day existence.

- And I wasn't alone.

Not only my loved ones, but the whole world

surrounded me with support.

- My mom always told me that God

gives his toughest task to his toughest soldiers.

It sucked, you know what I mean?

And there was a lot of mental stuff going on and, you know,

a lot of doubts and things like that, but at the same time

I think adversity is constant reminder

of what the world is and what life is, and it's not fair.

I think it's a form of resistance training that we have

to go through to strengthen ourselves.

So I think adversity is a key ingredient

to any success story.

For leukemia if you caught it in an early enough stage

like I did,

you were able to take essentially a medication,

a very potent medication that I'm still on to this day,

but it's pretty much just a conditioning of getting

your body used to these

toxic medications and just hoping for the best.

- It has been a long road back for that man.

- Physically speaking,

Roman Reigns looks as healthy as I've ever seen him.

- I'm in remission, y'all.

[crowd cheers]

- And tonight at Wrestlemania the big dog

is back.

- I think that was the most miserable time of my career.

This is the time that I was just trying to make everything easy.

I'm paid well.

I should make the job easy for everybody.

That's what being a top guy is, right?

That's what I translated as being a top guy.

And it just didn't work.

And so I left once the pandemic hit.

That's where it all changed.

- The World Health Organization has just declared

that this is a pandemic.

- The NBA suspended,

Major League Baseball delaying, everything else suspended.

You got to stay in quarantine because you have to assume

that you're contagious.

- So at that point, it was so early on in the pandemic,

we didn't have any protocols set up.

It was so very unknown.

So I made the choice to just go home.

And I told him until we can figure out how to make it safe.

I'm not putting me or my family at risk.

I was ready to retire.

And once I fully removed myself by choice,

not due to circumstances,

that's when I was able to be truthful with myself.

That's when I could really take an authentic,

genuine eye and look at what I've been doing.

Look at what I've done.

And that's when I knew I just wasn't happy.

I still felt like I I didn't achieve

what I had set out to do.

I didn't reach my potential.

I was still under that ceiling.

And it was time to break it.

This lesson, this was taught to me early on.

My brother told me this one.

He told me that he had a ceiling on his career.

Because he was too nice.

He was too much one of the boys.

And he told me if I ever want to be the top guy,

if I ever want to be the main event or the face

of this company.

That I would have to learn how to be an [bleep] sometimes.

But it took a while for me to understand that.

- For a while, Roman was confused.

He couldn't find his true identity.

He went through the fire, he got scarred and charred by the fire,

and he learned.

Roman can't be something he's not.

He is who he is.

- The one part about being the guy at the top, the main guy.

You have to keep your mystique.

And if you get around too many people

and they get to know you too well.

It's really tough to keep that number one spot.

- I just remember my brother right there on my shoulder.

You put your foot down when you have to, and you do the business

that's going to serve you and your family.

Now, go in there and be an [bleep].

- The big dog is here.

Roman Reigns is back.

- When I saw how he looked, I said, I said, "That's Joe."

- Anytime you're like a performer, you're creating,

any type of art form,

I mean, you got to obviously connect to it like

in your own right personally.

It's all for the audience.

It's all for the result.

And I really hope that everybody enjoys it as much as they have

enjoyed the build up and the whole story that we've been

telling all the way around.

But like, I just really feel like this is

what I'm hoping, hands down the best work I've ever done.

I'm tell you right now.

I will be at Payback on Sunday.

That is a promise.

And I will win back my Universal Championship that I never lost

in the first place.

That is not just a prediction.

That's a spoiler.

- Believe-

-that.

God, I love working with Roman Reigns.

I just love working with the man.

He's so ambitious.

He has such a deep desire to be the greatest of all time,

and he won't settle for second best.

It always bothered me that the mainstream media,

let alone the WWE universe,

never gave Roman Reigns the credit that he deserved.

Brock Lesnar took the credit

that he deserved through the words of his advocate,

Paul Heyman.

- Paul Heyman is the number one villainous counterpart

in the history of Sports Entertainment,

and Roman is looking as confident as

he's ever looked with this new special counsel.

you realize, "Oh my God, we're on a completely different ride."

- Chosen family.

That's a powerful thing.

That's exactly what Paul is to our family.

Paul's been with my family

longer than I have.

You know, I've said it before and I'll say it again.

It's a secret weapon.

It's an ace up my sleeve.

- And Reigns with a spear to Strowman.

Roman Reigns has won the Universal Championship.

- We were in the middle of such an unusual era

for all things WWE.

The world was locked down.

It wasn't in front of fans as though we were used to,

and it was a really tough time period for everybody.

- Everybody else,

they saw it as adversity.

I saw it as an opportunity.

Wait till you see what happens next.

- Roman was one of the few performers that also realized

the pandemic environment.

No live audience, so no noise work, more nuanced,

work more patient, be more expressive.

He handled that situation beautifully.

- This Roman Reigns, the Universal Champion,

has a much different attitude.

He's a different superstar.

The WWE fans were like,"This is what we've been waiting for."

- For years and years and years they try to make Roman the

top good guy act in WWE, and the crowd did not want it.

They don't want to accept him as the top guy.

Just wasn't the case.

He kind of made himself into

what he thought he should have been this whole time,

and obviously worked.

- I'm the man with the golden hand.

Everything I touch has purpose.

Everybody is just trying to compensate for not having fans,

and I'm over here changing the entire game the way we do it.

It's time to build the team.

It's time to build the Bloodline.

It was time to snatch Jey up by his hair and throw him

in the deep end,and that's exactly what we did.

- There goes the big dog.

There goes Roman Reigns.

There goes Mr. Main Event, Mr. WrestleMania.

You know what they say when they see me, Uce?

Which one are you?

- In our culture, we have Chiefs or Mรฉtis people in our family

who are given these titles or these rights.

It's just pretty significant to be titled as a Chief.

- Our family relies on me being the Tribal Chief.

That's who I am in this life.

It won't ever be you.

Because it will always,

always be me.

- In many ways, it's who Roman sees himself as.

He sees himself as the Head of the Table,

as the provider for his family, for the industry.

He finally got the opportunity to speak his mind,

explore different parts of his personality and project those

onto the screen.

It became the most organic version of Roman Reigns

that we've ever gotten in WWE.

- Jey Uso takes on his cousin, the Universal Champion,

The Tribal Chief,

Roman Reigns inside Hell in a Cell.

[yelling]

- No, no.

Stop, stop.

Stop man.

Stop Uce.

I could just tell in-in his eyes, man, like

like he tapped into that.

[bell rings]

- Jey Uso uttered the words "I quit" only to save

his brother Jimmy.

- And ultimately I beat him into the Bloodline.

I put a spotlight on him like he had never had before,

and I protected our family, our legacy, and the ability to

represent our family on a weekly basis.

- And now look who is on the stage.

Roman Reigns' uncle Afa and his father, Sika.

- And for him to be the Tribal Chief in the world

of entertainment, but also in a very real world of who we are.

It's an honor.

And everyone in our family is supportive of that honor.

- And now the crowning of Roman Reigns,

who now finds himself at the Head of the Table.

- That's the moment of validation I've been looking for

my entire life.

I'm what you call Afakasi.

I'm half Samoan.

When you grow up in a family full of full Samoans,

you can't help but to feel like there's a deficit of some sort.

You can't help but to feel like you're not

whole.

[clapping]

- Awesome, awesome.

- No one will ever take that from me.

That's where I made myself whole.

That's where I made myself enough.

And that's where I chose

I was good enough to lead this family.

- The Ula Fala is sacred.

Those beads only go around

the head, and neck, and the shoulders

of someone who can bear the responsibility

of wearing the Ula Fala.

- And Reigns drags Edge on top of Daniel Bryan.

- If I'm not number one, I don't want to be here.

[bell rings]

- It was the main event of WrestleMania.

It was huge stakes, a major platform for everybody else,

but for me it was just another night.

I'm only concerned with what's next.

How can I be better?

How can I make this bigger?

How can I separate myself

even more from everybody?

And that was just the beginning.

I knew this business needed what I am now, and I feel like this

business needs something even bigger in the future.

So in some ways I still feel the same,

but at the same time I've evolved.

My umbrella is bigger.

My roots are deeper and connected to more people now.

- What's up?

- Ready to kick some ass, man?

- Almost, almost.

- I'm in chill mode right now.

- Yeah, chill mode.

- This year the biggest WrestleMania match of all time.

Winner take all Championship. Unification.

WWE Champion Brock Lesnar versus the record setting

Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

- WWE universe on their feet, witnessing the spectacle

that is winner take all.

- Spear by Reigns.

The titles have been unified.

- After the match at WrestleMania,

I went over to Roman,

'cause I've been watching his whole career

- I appreciate that

- I just simply had to acknowledge the guy's on top,

and I don't see him going away anytime too soon.

- I carried WWE for far more than the past two years.

We're going to be completely honest about it, but it's

without question what I've done since August 2020 and now with

all the hardware, everything that matters

in this business on my back.

Can't nobody touch me.

You there.

- Sitting at home.

Acknowledge me.

- We're all sitting in a room.

Roman Reigns said,

"It's about time that everyone simply acknowledged me."

and everyone in the room froze, and we all looked at each other

and realized, that's the very definition of the Tribal Chief,

Roman Reigns.

- Acknowledge me.

- We weren't looking for a catchphrase.

It just happened.

- Respect my work.

Respect what I do for this business.

Give me my flowers.

Now.

Not when I'm gone.

I'm not going to ask

for help.

I'm not going to ask for your respect.

I'm gonna take it.

The Tribal Chief is head and shoulders above everybody.

This is my show.

This is my camera.

I run it all.

When John came back, that's how I knew it was working.

But when the legends and the former top guys,

especially the ones who have cleanly moved on,

when they start coming back for you,

that's when you know you're on the money.

John Cena was the very first one to do it,

and what he get for it?

Smashed.

- There's market business indicators that tell you what is

working and if it's not working.

Every market indicator for Roman Reigns is through the roof.

It's not egotistical to say it's something special,

it's accurate.

- This business is a lot of opinion.

I'm a guy who likes data points.

The business is the absolute best it's ever been.

It has gone from an IPO stock at 35 to stay in the trenches

at seven, it closed and merged with the company for an

estimated value of $21 billion dollars,

under the watch of the Tribal Chief.

He is leading in merchandise revenue sales.

He is selling out arenas at a pace that could only be

rivaled in the Attitude Era.

- Nowadays, there's so many options in the universe of cable

TV and YouTube and this and that and the other,

all the things that I don't understand.

For him to, you know, basically be where he's at now,

that's something that doesn't come along

only once in a couple of decades, you know,

so he's-he's the guy.

- This man is an able to captivate an audience of 2.5

million people every Friday night.

- Ain't nobody do it better.

Ain't nobody do it better.

- Roman Reigns has made it must see television.

- So it's time to evolve again.

What can we show new?

How can we change it up?

How do we create a new moment?

[crowd cheers]

- And McIntyre feels it.

62,000 plus feel it.

- What the hell?

Somebody just yanked the official out of the ring.

That is Solo Sikoa.

The Uso's younger brother, Roman Reigns' cousin.

- So we called upon Solo.

He was the insurance policy

to make sure our family continued the greatest reign

of all time.

- It was just an opportunity, man, that Roman didn't need

to give me, you know,

but he brought me up and he gave me that opportunity.

And now that I'm in the business,

and I'm with Joe and my brothers,

he's going to teach me

what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong.

- Lift them up.

Put a spotlight on 'em, showcase 'em.

Force them to elevate, just like I have.

The Bloodline's gonna to have all the gold soon.

It was time to level up.

It was time to move onward and upward.

I knew, we about to change the whole game.

- He's just- is 100% legit.

He's legitimately tough.

He's a legitimate athlete.

And he came up the hard way.

His father was one of the Samoans.

And-and you know, I'm here to tell you Afa and Sika

were different kind of cats, man.

Any-any time you come from that Bloodline,

that is a Bloodline from hell.

- The main goal, I think, for me at least, is I want our fans to

wake up and be like, "Damn it,

I wouldn't mind seeing another one."

Like, "I would not mind seeing Brock/Roman 8."

- You just know when somebody has "It"

and I think he's a great, special talent.

I'm preparing for everything to get thrown at me tonight

because him and I have got seven years of history.

- And we did it in fashion too.

At a main event in Nashville, Tennessee.

Well, I mean, we did it,

as Nashville as you can do it.

Ain't nobody's seen a tractor come out there

and start flipping rings.

- Lesnar's lifting up the ring with a damn tractor.

- This is one of the damnedest things

I've ever seen in my life.

- I was able to evolve Brock Lesnar,

give him a platform to showcase a little something different.

That's how you recreate magic.

- He knows he's the greatest, and there's nothing that any of

us or anyone on the roster can say to dissuade him from that.

Everybody that's around Roman Reigns is now bigger

because of him.

- If you're not evolving,

you're dying in this business,

so I started eyeballing

Sami Zayn.

- I don't know what if I joined,

what if I joined up with the Bloodline?

Here's this really fun character interacting with this really

serious character.

He's just not himself right now.

That's it, okay?

He's just not-

lately he just hasn't been

very Ucey.

And it's not something that I think fans at home are like,

"I can't wait to see these two guys together."

But then when it's on screen, it's just so fun and it's just

so enjoyable that you're like, "Ooh, what's next?"

- And when you're all wolves.

It's hard to show that variance, but when you throw a sheep in

the middle of the wolves,

that sympathy is going to come real quick.

And then you can easily, you know, relate to this poor,

innocent sheep in the middle of the wolves.

And that's what Sami was within the Bloodline

[crowd cheers]

- Whatchu doin' man?

I thought you were my brother man.

- And we did the unthinkable.

We took a set of young men.

Twins who nobody knew the difference between.

- Uso.

- Personalized 'em.

We made 'em individuals.

We made people care about Jey.

We made people wonder about Jimmy.

It wasn't just, "Oh, we're the twins, the pairs, the Usos."

Now, we're starting to flesh out individual personalities.

- My career has elevated

because of him.

- You want it? It's yours.

I'm done.

- Man, that storytelling and character and emotion try to

bleed through the screen and push through the screen.

That's a whole nother different level.

- The Tribal Chief said he wants peace.

- I don't give a damn with the Tribal Chiefs says.

I come out on the other side

a whole nother character.

Right hand man.

Main event Jey U-

I got a main event today from him.

I learned everything from him.

I thought I knew wrestling, but he knows like,

how to make you look like a bigger star.

We the-

[crowd yells "Ones"]

- We were able to showcase what I feel like people have been

begging for-for a long time, long term storytelling.

And that's a testament to the entire Bloodline.

Myself, Wise Man, Usos, Solo.

And Sami.

You just can't do it in a tougher time for entertainment

than I've done it.

We're competing against all these major, you know,

entertainment conglomerates, you know, and-and everything

in between and below, you know, so.

- As driven as you are to be successful at this and it's a

it's an all in lifestyle, right, what we we do.

It's- you have to believe it.

You have to be in it.

- It's never like a situation.

It's not a switch.

It just is who I am.

This is what it is.

I'm always in it.

Roman's not a people pleaser.

He doesn't give a [bleep] what anybody thinks about him.

He can't.

Because that's always been the thing that's let him down.

That's the difference between Joe and Roman is I've taken one

side of Joe and I've completely magnified it, spotlighted it-

- Pyro in-ring as usual.

- -and turned that dial all the way to max.

He doesn't care what anybody thinks.

He'll do whatever he has to do to be the very best.

Sometimes the bad guys win.

It's put me in a different mindset,

a different emotional state.

That's how I've crafted.

Joe and Roman.

[crowd cheers]

[bell rings]

- Roman Reigns has done it again.

As the 945 day reign continues.

- This isn't a promo.

I'm not, you know,

I didn't look in the mirror in the shower

and come up with this stuff.

This is as real as it gets.

I'm the greatest of all time.

This WrestleMania solidifies it.

- We're expanding.

This business is growing.

You know, we're not dealing with the Big M.

We're dealing with the Big "B" billions of dollars now.

- Company has just gotten so big.

It's a global juggernaut as it has grown that responsibility to

be that number one guy also grows.

And it just encompasses so much more.

Roman Reigns handled it flawlessly, and that's why you

have to give him, as the kids say, "His Props."

- On rare occasions, an athlete comes along that is so

dominant that they change the entire face

of their chosen sport.

In the WWE right now, we have the privilege of

witnessing the man that has passed 1000 days

as champion, Roman Reigns.

- You can count on one hand the amount of people

that've held the title longer than him in WWE.

- Hulk Hogan.

Bob Backlund.

Bruno Sammartino.

And Roman.

- It is my honor to present you with a brand new

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

- If it was just about me, I could have been done

a good bit ago.

For this to be what it's supposed to be

to max out the potential of it.

I can't be the only one that benefits from this.

That's all I want.

That's all I ever wanted.

- Working with my cousin changed my life.

He just always checks on me, always checks on my brother,

You know, mentally,

"How y'all doing?"

Uh, always, just always tapping in when I really need him.

- Congrats.

- Thanks dawg,

- Man, I love uce for that, you know?

Sorry.

My hat goes off to him, man.

I'm so blessed.

I get to, like, do this for him.

Talk, talk, talk about this kind of stuff.

Damn, I didn't even know I was gonna get emotional, man.

[bleep].

But I love it, man.

Yeah, that's my Uce.

- They're genuine brothers.

I think it's one brother giving another brother

their experience, their advice just to help 'em grow.

Matt was always full of advice and Joe would receive it.

Now, he's just passing it on.

- There's so many times throughout the day,

or when I'm traveling,

I can hear him, "You little [bleep]," you know,

"You think you're the man."

"You already know who the Tribal Chief is."

Just talking [bleep] to me the whole time, you know?

But laughing, you know, in a very, uh, big brother way.

I just wish he was here to-to take it in and go through

the process with me.

It's on me to just represent, you know, represent him,

represent our family, represent our Bloodline,

represent our legacy.

- I think it's very fair to say that Roman Reigns is the most

cinematic portrayal of what a champion is in the history

of Sports Entertainment.

If Roman Reigns decided that today it's over.

His legacy would be that he took the greatest family dynasty

in the history of WWE and evolved it to a level

that no one ever could have imagined.

And I dare say.

And no other family will ever touch.

- Acknowledge me.

[crowd cheers]

- We only recognize something what we romanticize about it

when we look back on it.

I hope there's a few more folks out there that can realize that

Roman Reigns is a very unique individual.

There's never been a performer like him.

Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief is the greatest of all time.

- I learned to be in this position a long time ago.

Just over the years I've crafted it to just make it my mine now.

- He's got it so well figured out.

He's going to be able to stay on top his whole career.

- There's only one man that can say

they're the face of this company.

There's only one man that can say they're the main event.

Not a main eventer.

The main event.

- He finally figured it out,

and now you have a guy

who's completely comfortable with who he is

and he's comfortable

being the face of the company.

- That's where we fall back into the experience.

That's where we fall back into the formative years.

There's so many things in my life that had to happen

in order for me to understand or gain experience

to be equipped to handle anything that happens to me.

And that's why I stand here

ready for anything.

I'm the high tide, the highest tide.

Nobody lifted more ships than me.

Whether you like it or not, I did a lot of good.

While I was becoming great.

Acknowledge me.
