A homosexual relationship,

as much as both partners want it,

is doomed to fail.

They hide like criminals,
forced to start their relationships

by having sex without foreplay.

Pure sex ignores the partner's
individual needs.

It merely serves as an object
of one's own lust.

With a bit of luck,
this condition is mutual.

But it's not enough to establish a
satisfying relationship between two people.

Gays attempt to simulate
a middle-class marriage.

Instead of hating those
responsible for their misfortune,

they wish for a lifelong relationship
granted by church and state.

A middle-class marriage is based
on the upbringing of children

and the oppression of the wife.

Gay marriage can't be anything
but a ridiculous imitation,

as the lack of mutual duties
is being replaced

by a romantic and unrealistic love.

That romantic and idolizing love
is nothing but self-love.

Most gays don't realize

that the love they feel
is in fact self-love.

The partner is seen as an idol
of one's own hopes and longings.

They're neither trying to understand
nor pay attention to them.

They even burden their partner
with their own problems.

Gay marriage fails due to the rivalry
of two conceited men,

who were raised not to follow
their interests together,

but as competitors.

The lack of mutual duties,

and the inability to get along,

due to being self-centered,

will soon lead to the tragic end
of a romantic friendship.

What remains is loneliness

and a vast void,

that will soon be cluttered
with new imaginary and vain dreams.

Four months have passed
since I came to Berlin.

I've decided to leave Clemens.

I know it's a big mistake,
as I still love him like on the first day.

We often act contrary to our feelings,
despite regretting it deeply afterwards.

In the small Cafe
where Daniel used to work,

he was approached by a wealthy man,
whom he soon trusted.

He was fascinated by his
knowledge and sophistication.

The spruceness and neatness
for which he'd learned to cherish Clemens

and which he, without admitting it,
found stifling,

laid the foundation for an unforeseen
world of art and culture.

Overwhelmed by a feeling
of something big and important,

he agreed to join his benefactor
on a longer trip,

and afterwards moved into his villa.

The so-called "Pedagogical Eros",

with which older gays justify
sleeping with young men,

simply means an authoritative
relationship of dependancy

between a smart ass
and a helpless, silly boy.

Education and art,

once dead serious
leisure activities of the rich,

are being gratefully received by gays
as a getaway from their problems.

The popular belief that gays
are artistically more gifted than others

is, in fact, an old wives' tale.

They only engage so much in art,

because they believe it makes
their life more endurable.

To them, art is shallow and ineffective,
just like when Heydrich played the piano.

As long as education and art
are means of the rich and powerful

to belie human and economical issues,

they must be radically rejected.

And as long as gays
think they're special,

while they imitate the rich,
they must be rejected as well.

Upholding the oppression of homosexuals
is especially crucial to rich gays.

They welcome the helplesness
of the oppressed,

because it makes it easier
to lure them into their beds.

to get to know each other.

In a sultry atmosphere
of overemphasized formalities,

they soon drop all pretense.

Being let down their whole life,
many have become cold and cruel.

All they see in their partner
is a sex object.

Homosexuals have a more
ambitious urge for independence

and success than others.

They know that at an old age,
they won't be loved for who they are.

The most important thing for gays
is the overemphasis

of youth and physicality.

Buying a young man
also means regaining a part

of their own lost youth.

On his fatherly lover's
first music night,

he got to meet his acquaintances:
Renowned actors and business men.

He feels left alone and desperate.

His friend seems to only have eyes
for that young, exotic singer.

Once again, he's at the mercy
of the old men's comforting attempts.

They flatter him, stroke his hair,

and close a tight circle around him -
everybody wants him for themselves.

He suddenly feels nauseous
like he needs to throw up.

He knows he can't stay there,

where his faith in all that's good
and beautiful has been betrayed.

He leaves in disgust.

Daniel has found a new job.

He now works at an afternoon
meeting place for homosexuals.

He's rented a cheap room
from a colleague,

and, through work, makes friends
with people his own age.

The other gays like him,

because he knows how to adapt
to their customs.

He becomes more secure and independent,

and does not invest
all his feelings in flings.

Everything's new, and he's happy
to be able to live almost freely

among a group of like-minded people.

Interesting conversations about film,
fashion, and grooming

give inspiration for his leisure time,

which he spends almost only with gays.

Most homosexuals are business men
or have service jobs.

They're afraid
of getting their nails dirty,

and they also fear
their colleagues' aggressiveness.

Gays have it twice as hard at work.

On top of the usual shitty job

comes the unnerving act of self-denial.

They become "leisure-queers"

who gladly escape the hypocrisy
at work into the gay world,

where they may not be accepted
as human beings, but as gays.

They meet for coffee and cake,

listen to songs by Zarah Leander
and Marlene Dietrich,

and make trips to places
like Sylt and Torremolinos.

The less they're capable of having
human relationships among their own,

the more they're in need
of a substitute.

Their longing for luck and fulfillment

is being exploited by the industry
and deflected into material things.

For the bourgeoisie, it's all about
home interior, TV sets, and cars.

For gays, it's all about fashion.

Just like a product's packaging
distracts from it's actual content,

gays use fashion to draw attention
to their outer appearance.

The lust to adorn one's body

fits the enourmous vanity of gays,

who will soon be unable
to love anyone but themselves.

The light blue sweater
gays used to wear years ago,

which distinctively differed
from dull men's fashion,

has turned into exhibitionism
and fetishism.

Fashion has to be like a second skin,

indicating the size of the penis.

Soon, gays won't be capable
of anything but...

waiting like a high-class hooker

for a rich man to take them away
into a world

of sheer pleasure... and lust.

Homosexuals have nothing in common

but the strong wish
to sleep with a man.

The increasing desire
for the naked male body

makes them leave their families
and go to places

where they can meet gays.

In the company of other gays,
they can forget for a while

that they're lepers
and outcasts of society.

Nevertheless, they hate each other.

The others are seen as a reflection
of one's own misfortune.

Fear of sexuality,

feelings of guilt,
foisted upon them by society,

and a strong feeling of competition

make them secret enemies
among their own.

In order to be able to communicate,

they make up certain commonalities,

which can only be phony.

They develop superficial
rituals and shapes.

Just like the bourgeoisie, they judge
each other by their appearance.

In order to be accepted
by the gay community,

young homosexuals
will soon have to trade

their more personal interests

for so-called
gay interests and ideals.

Meeting points for homosexuals
are vanity fairs.

They show themselves off,
hoping to be wooed by everyone else.

Daniel, who lay dreaming on the
sun terrace at the Wannsee lake,

noticed him right away.

He admired his strong body...
and his butch appearance.

But he wouldn't dare
to show his admiration.

He slightly turned his head,

as if to protect it
from the blinding sunbeams.

Through his half-closed eyes
he gazed at those strong hands,

that were slowly stripping down
a pair of tight fitting jeans...

exposing a bulging pair of trunks.

He desired him...

and he wanted nothing more
than to satisfy his desire,

but his pride prevented him
from making the first step.

Until now, he was the one
that others would woo,

and he could always pick those

he wanted to give his affection to.

He knew his effect on others,
and he was partly to blame for it.

He enjoyed being the focus
of a pair of lustful eyes,

but he was too shy to spare someone,

who he might have been able to love,

a longer glance.

with their huge mirrors,

the pink/red lighting,
and those sensuous rythms.

He loves shoving himself
through a crowd of young men

who gaze at him
in passive admiration.

He needs this kind of self-affirmation

to get over his loneliness,

which, after many numbing nights,
starts growing inside of him.

He's slowly granted access to a world
of unforeseen possibilities.

He gets to meet people of all kinds
of nationalities and occupations.

More often, he drifts into the night,
always astonished anew.

He now has not just one,
but many favorite bars.

An uneasiness is growing inside of him.
He becomes addicted...

to the tantalizing adventures
of which no one knows...

how they might end.

Gays rarely have difficulties
connecting in big cities.

It's easy for them to find men
they can sleep with,

because they offer themselves
on every street corner like whores.

Out of fear of old age,

they believe they must live
their youth to the fullest.

They become moody,
hectic, and more compulsive.

Gays are rarely happy.

They've taken all sexual freedoms

of which the bourgeoisie can only dream.

But they're incapable

of truly enjoying those freedoms.

Like any other kid,

gays were brought up
to live by rules and regulations.

Those rules and duties will also apply
in a marriage between man and woman.

Gays, however, could take
advantage of their freedom,

on their own responsibility.

They could live with someone
for as long

as they can enjoy it.

For gays, freedom isn't about

taking responsibility, but about chaos.

They get stuck at an infantile level.

They're constantly horny,

choosing a cheap fling

over a perhaps
more valuable relationship.

Gays have trouble

engaging in a long-term relationship.

Full of vanity and remorse

they exchange glances,
always looking for true happiness.

They have an ideal image of a man

who doesn't exist.

Two thousand sexual partners
in the life of a gay man

are often just surrogates
for the one...

they long for, deep in their hearts.

Each time they are being
dissappointed anew,

and often all that remains
is a feeling of disgust.

Most gays resemble the type
of 'nice guy from a good family',

who places great value
on a masculine appearance.

They lead a double life,

afraid of being outed as homosexuals.

Their greatest enemy
is the flamboyant "fairy".

Fairies are effeminate homosexuals

who attempt to act
like hysterical women.

They wear make-up
and are the worst nightmare

of the bourgeoisie
and of closeted gays

who could be exposed by them.

Fairies are not as phony
as bourgeois gays.

Gays are often conceited,
moody, and jealous.

Fairies overdo their gay attributes
and ridicule them.

They question society's standards
and show what it means to be gay.

because they feel to have failed

They're nice, polite people
who suffer from their weakness.

Daniel dares to visit
the municipal park,

where he's hoping to find
satisfaction more easily.

The nightly ritual of cruising
in bars has made him tired.

He found it too much of a hassle
to talk to someone

and maybe even spend the night
with them just to have sex.

The park's oppressive atmosphere
was even more captivating

than the thought of having
new sexual experiences.

Afraid of being interrupted,

and with the unfulfilled
expectation of a touch,

he passed the fascinating
choreography of men,

who were timidly walking around

without saying a single word.

Then he leaves the park...

disappointed to not have found
the dominating aggressiveness

he was hoping for.

He reckons it takes the knowledge
of secret signals and rituals

which could open the door
to "perversion".

Daniel knows there's no way back.

He wants a man - tonight!

He often went home, telling himself

he could've had a lot of guys
if he'd wanted to.

That feeling was more important
than if he'd actually slept with them.

But now he won't
control himself any longer.

He doesn't know what else to do.
Nothing matters anymore. It's as if...

he were intoxicated.

Public toilets are the most popular
meeting points for homosexuals.

Gays who have trouble connecting,

are forced to have their first
homosexual experience in a public toilet.

Being punished
for their homosexuality by society,

and left with a guilty conscience,

many have reduced their homosexuality
strictly to sex.

They stand side by side,
in constant fear of discovery,

and if they finally pick someone up,

they have to get off within seconds.

A relationship directed only
towards a man's penis

is for many gays the only kind
of love-making they know.

They go from toilet to toilet,
constantly seeking satisfaction,

which, if they're lucky,
can only be found compromised.

Gays hold public toilets
in low esteem.

They claim to despise "toilet queers",

but secretly go there themselves

if they didn't score
in one of their fancy bars.

Here they appreciate the often
'masculine laborer' kind of guys

who are not interested
in hiding their lust

underneath fashion
and good manners.

In our society, being a hustler
is much more convenient

than working a dull, impersonal job.

We don't make as much
as hookers, though.

Most hustlers are runaways
from foster homes,

who refuse a middle-class life

with it's limited possibilities
in the first place.

Like many rockers, who suppress
their homosexuality with brutality,

With gays, they can let off

because in the eyes of our society,
gays are still worse than decent criminals.

Extortion, mugging, and murder of gays

The law has been abolished,

but not people's attitude
towards certain homosexuals

who still live in constant fear
of being exposed.

In line with society's
hatred of old age,

growing old is the worst

Many are in denial about their age
out of sheer vanity.

They're trying to artificially
keep themselves young,

but it just makes them
look ridiculous.

The life of older gays
is no bed of roses.

They're often exposed
to inhumane isolation

which, just like a growing ulcer,
deprives them

of every last bit of joy in life.
