I had a therapist once

who said that these states
will wax and wane.

Which gave my mother relief,

because it meant that
in the bad times,

there would be good times.

But it also gave her anxiety

because it meant that
in the good times,

there would be bad times.

It always confused me,

because I didn't really
know what it meant.

I would describe it.

Obviously, there's something

But all this happened

I love Cassie
because how relatable she was.

She's trying to find her purpose
in life.

I felt like that's
a very realistic representation

of what it's like to be a girl.

Before we went into filming,
I actually got to sit down

and build
Cassie's character book.

That is an interactive
timeline diary

of her entire life, and so,

something that happened
when she was two with her dad

will create how she reacts

when she opens
her ice-skating present

on her tenth birthday.

Cassie's dad
always wanted her to become

- a professional ice skater.
- Wow!

But her dad
couldn't afford lessons

so he stopped encouraging her.

Cassie's father left
when she was growing up,

and she lost this man
that she looked at

as a superhero, and so,
she's always looked for

that kind of love to replace,
and Cassie feels like

she needs these men
to tell her she's beautiful,

or make her feel like
she has to accept herself.

Even though she's had...

these little things
here and there,

McKay is her first
real relationship.

You watch all these movies
and TV shows,

and your idea of what
teenage love is supposed to be,

and that's not what it is
in her life.

And she's searching for what
she's expecting it to be.

I really love you, McKay.

What if this is what I'm
supposed to do with my life?

Throughout episode seven,
you see Cassie asking herself,

"Should I tell McKay
that I'm pregnant?"

She couldn't go to her friends.
She didn't feel like...

And the one person she had there
for her was her mom.

- I think I need your help.
- It's okay.

Cassie realizes that maybe
her mom does know what to do,

and maybe she should listen.
Her mom was...

amazing and helpful
and there for her,

and I think that's really
important for a lot of teenagers

because they don't think
they need their parents.

I mean, I went through
so many things myself

where I'm like,
"Oh, I know what's what.

"I don't need my mom." And I wish
I would have gone to her first

without making
different decisions that I did.

I'm so proud to be a part
of this show

because as an actor, you dream

of these very gritty,
realistic roles,

and I feel that
Euphoria has that.

Being on a show that represents
so many different people,

I hope that people
find themselves

in these different characters
and know that they're not alone.
